The hybrid avalon is rated to get 39to 40 miles per gallon.I have 4000 miles on my new hybrid. The first 2500 miles I averaged 33.5.on interstate at 75 mph.The last 1000 miles I averaged 34.5 at 59mph.It is not worth the extra money.

For the last 9 years I've been driving my Sweet BMW 5 series and what a joy it was to drive on a daily basis. The power and road feel was superb but the maintenance was starting to get excessive. I have never owned a Toyota anything... The technology that is engineered in this vehicle is utterly amazing. I love the Hybrid engine and transmission, its really quite astounding. The car handles well, it has excellent low end electric torque. When driving in econ mode the entire hybrid system takes control and superbly enhances the Avalon's fuel consumption. The car is quite and has good rad feel.

Love my Avalon

Ten years ago, I drove into the Toyota dealership to test drive a Prius. I made the mistake of also driving the Avalon. That was the best decision I have made. The Avalon now has 108K miles and is my trusted car. Love everything about it. I still get 31 or 32 mpg, it is just amazing. The hybrid function has never failed. The comfort is pleasurable. I would without hesitation purchase a new one or even a well taken care of used Avalon.

Got it in March 2013. Just hitting 10,000 miles. Found that I get better than sticker said for road. I have gotten from 39.1 for low and 46.9 for a high. City driving is another thing though. I have a low of 28.0 and a high of 44.2 in city only. 28.0 was in suburbs of Memphis, TN. I use a calculator as the computer always claims higher mileage except 2 times when it was low! Car exceeded my expectations! Substantial vehicle for the money!
