Great 4-Door Sedan
I purchased my 2022 Legacy Limited 2.5 new back in June. I currently have almost 4000 miles logged. I needed a car to commute to work. I traded in my Ram Pick-up. I was nervous at first since I haven't driven a regular car in so long. I was pleasantly surprised. Though this car doesn't have nearly the punch of a big V8 I still enjoy it. There isn't much power under the hood of the Legacy, but all I'm doing is commuting now. This car is comfortable and quiet. It does what it is supposed to do, gets me from point A to point B safely and comfortably. I went with Subaru due to it's safety features, all-wheel drive, design and fuel efficiency. There's plenty of room in the back seat for my 5ft8in son and my daughter. Trunk space is enormous. The fit and finish appear to be upscale for this segment. If you're looking for gas mileage and safety this is my pick. If you prefer a little more punch under acceleration, then go with the 2.4 Turbo. There is a significant difference in price and mileage. As far as safety goes, I think the only competitor is Volvo, but you'll pay the Volvo price. I commute approximately 100 miles a day. I get on the highway, set the cruise control and all safety systems and let the car do it's thing. The distance pacing cruise control works great. The eyesight system works and helps to keep the vehicle centered in the travel lane. If the safety systems wouldn't yell so much when you take your hands off the wheel, I think this car would drive itself.

Reduced to 3 stars - this car is just too annoying
14,000 mile update. I still like the way the car drives. The interior is beautiful and the car is well put-together. It is reasonably quiet and a solid highway cruiser. AWD is great, MPG is excellent considering AWD and 260hp. I appreciate the updates to the infotainment system that fixed some bugs, brought the start/stop button to the first screen, and allowed portrait utilization of Apple CarPlay. BUT, the car's secondary purpose (besides providing transportation) is to annoy me. - I HATE the cruise control switches. Why did Subaru find it necessary to change speed by 5mph increments each time you tap the button? No one asked for this! - Start/Stop is so annoying it must be switched off every time. When I want the car to turn off and stay off at a long light it doesn't. When I stop for one second it turns off. It's just not worth it. - Why does the car continue to recognize me (facial recognition) when I get into the car, but when I get out ask me if I want to create a new profile? - Still too many bugs, system is laggy. Like any other electronic product nowadays, you must learn how to reboot the system when it behaves strangely. - Active lane centering works best when hands are off wheel. When hands are on, it tends to tug to the right. ORIGINAL REVIEW LIKES: - Interior styling, especially the Touring XT and its brown nappa leather. The quality is better than the Lincoln MKZ I traded in, as well as some of the new luxury cars I test drove like the Cadillac CT5 and Genesis G70. It's stunning, really. - Eyesight features, especially adaptive cruise and lane centering. I give the system a B. You can set the aggressiveness to which the cruise control returns you to your programmed speed, which is a great feature. - Good stereo, the Limited and Touring versions have an upgraded Harmon Kardon system. Much better than my Lincoln's base stereo. - Turbo engine has very strong power. You want this engine for drivability and passing power. - Decent range and mileage. MPG will fall as your speed exceeds 70mph. Below that you'll easily get 30MPG; at 77mph I'm getting 27MPG and 450 miles on a tank. - Remote start (using the My Subaru app) lets me set the climate and seat heater settings when I start the car. - Great value proposition! - I think the CVT is fine. It does not call attention to itself at all. Unlike most car reviewers, I drive like a normal person, not a maniac, and I think the transmission and engine work together very smoothly. - Build quality. The doors have a very heavy, solid feeling, like a German car. The trunk lid does feel somewhat cheap though. DISLIKES: - The seats look comfortable. For me, the lumbar support is very lacking, even when fully extended. Long trips give me a sore lower back. I appreciate the extendable thigh support, but wish that the front of the seat tipped up a little more so I could feel the thigh support more strongly. - By default, the car lights up and makes noises like a video game. It's pointless and distracting. I have completely turned off all the indicator lights on the heads up display, which alert you to the fact that the system has locked on to a car in front of you [the system also beeps], or that the system has disengaged for some reason. There are other indicators on the dash that tell you the same thing, so the heads up indicators and beeps are redundant (and are switched off on my car). - Start/Stop. This is the first car I've had which had it, and I'm really trying to get used to it. Unfortunately, it is unrefined and results in an overly noticeable shudder when activating. Sometimes when I WANT the car to shut off because I know I'll be at a light awhile, it doesn't. And when I want it to shut off a long time, it restarts again after only about 20 seconds. I don't like pulling into my garage; the car shuts off when I stop, and when I shift to park, the car restarts again, only to have me shut it off immediately after. - Auto vehicle hold is nice, but like start/stop this must be activated every time you restart the car. I'd like to see the auto vehicle hold AND start/stop switches customizable so that they can be placed on the main screen. - Cruise control speed settings are silly. A tap up or down will increase or decrease your speed to the next 5mph increment. So if I'm driving 77 and want to slow down to 70, I tap down once to bring it to 75, and again to bring it down to 70. You must HOLD the switch down to increase or decrease in one mph increments. - I've changed so many settings I wish I knew that they were being backed up somewhere. If I have to restore to factory defaults, it will take me forever to figure out what I've already changed. This car and its center stack are for people comfortable with tinkering with their computers, ipads, etc. If you aren't willing to dive into the menus, you will have to learn to live with the cars little frustrations. - No automatic wipers, a surprising feature omission.

Not you're father's Subaru
This is my 4th Legacy, and pretty much loved the other three. I first saw the Limited XT model at my dealership, John Kennedy Subaru, in Norristown, PA. That was the first year for this trim level. I fell in love with it. So this year I bought the XT in the grey color. I had a 2015 Limited with 43000 on it that I gave to my Grandson for college. That was like a new car for him. I actually did not need a new car that one was fine he needed it more than I did. I just wanted to get one more new one before they put me out to pasture, lol So I went the whole nine yards, bought the top of the line loaded with all the bells and whistles. Glad I did! This car is all that and more. It's luxurious, the combo of the graphite grey silica and the tan Napa leather interior is perfect. I have had so many compliments on this car. It rides as good as many high end luxury cars and handles beautiful. I can't imagine anything else I need in a car! Hate that stop/start thing the government forced on cars manufacturers, there is no one going to tell me it doesn't cause harm to the engine and transmission. You can shut it off very simply before you even move the car, there is a button on the screen to shut it off. You do have to do that every time though. You will know if you forgot the first time you stop though, by the clunk whe you go to accelerate!. The touch screen panel does take some time to get used to, but not a big issue. I am retired and look forward to taking this XT on some long trips! To me at least this is absolutely a 5 star car!

GREAT RIDE
Researched and test drove accord and legacy for 3 months. Got the legacy, couldn't be happier. It has a great ride, plenty of power, unlike some of the reviews that tell you otherwise. Seats are great! When you get out of the accord you are so low to the ground, legacy is so much better.

Excellent car.. luxurious drive
The car is outstanding in luxurious feel and smooth quiet drive, better than most luxury cars. Very spacious with plenty of cargo space in trunk. I find this car severely underrated. Minor issues with the car start-stop feature that you cannot permanently turn off.

2021 xt
Car has plenty of power. Plush ride, large trunk, plenty of room for 4 adults. You can squeeze 5 in but it will be tight in the rear seat. Heated seats dont get as hot or heat up as fast as the ones on the 2019 crosstrek i had. Some features you habe to scroll through a couple screens to find on the infotainment. Only fot about 25-27mpg on highway till i hit 5000-6000 miles, then started getting 30-32. My crosstrek did the same thing on mpg also so im not worried about that. My biggest complaints are the windshield, eyesight covers and hood. I will start with the windshield. Had less then 1000 miles on it and it already has small rock chips. Nothing major, juat looked like dead bugs. But sure enough, they are rock chips. Now for the hood. When driving at highway speeds, the rear portion of the hood flexes and looks like its really flimsy. Reminds me of a flag rippling in the wind. The hood is shut tight, and all bolts are tight etc. Just something i noticed. The plastic covers on the eyesight are not secured very well. They rattle on all bit the smoothest roads. I can push up on the cover and it will stop rattleing.

Good Power, Smooth Ride
At 5 months of ownership (purchased in Sept 2021) and a bit over 7300 miles (95% interstate), I must say I have enjoyed the car thus far. I traded my 2020 WRX Base 6-speed in for this and haven't regretted it, although I do miss the engine sound somewhat. The 2.4L Turbo is responsive, even with the CVT. Simulated gear changes are smooth, and the ride at interstate speeds is nice and quiet. I can actually talk and hear on my car's Bluetooth connection, something that was much more of a challenge with the WRX. Mileage is not quite as good as I would have hoped, but it has averaged less since winter has started with the cold mornings. It did get better mileage when the weather was warmer. I do plan on purchasing an Auto Start/Stop override in the near future, but to be honest, the "off" button is on the first screen of the large 11.6" infotainment system so it's easy to deal with currently. I have many "likes" on this car, and the option I use the most thus far is the heated steering wheel, which at 55-years of age helps some with the old finger joints during cold weather. The leather seats (although not Napa) are very comfortable, and my family likes the heated front and rear seats. I am not a huge fan of the stock aluminum rims, but also haven't found anything that makes me rush right out to replace them. The back-up camera is adequate (I guess), and I really like the small yellow indicators on the inside of the side mirrors that light up when someone is in the blindspot. Complaints? 1st world complaints only, such as I would like a larger area for the rear defrost, which is BARELY adequate, and I would like the disengage for the driver monitoring system to be on the first screen, not three screens in. Carpet COULD be a bit better, as I feel it's very thin and super cheap for the price level of the Limited XT. None of these would be deal breakers if I had known PRIOR TO purchase, however. I have grown accustom to much, much less.

2020 Legacy Touring XT is a real step up
I traded in my 2015 Legacy Limited (which I liked a lot) for a new 2020 Legacy Touring XT. Wow, what a step up. The ride is quieter and more composed. Love the extra oomph and power of the turbo. The new features are definitely enhanced compared to the previous generation. The interior of the Touring is quite nice. Really love this 2020 Legacy! I generally like the new infotainment system and the navigation is definitely improved from my 2015. There are plenty of things to nitpick about the infotainment, as Subaru continues to have rather clunky UX or just plain stupid design choices with poor UX. Not deal breakers, but just a poor execution that limits the infotainment system from reaching its full potential. I like the fact that we can now get over-the-air software updates and am hopeful that we'll be getting some bug fixes and even some UX improvements over time.

2020 Subaru Legacy
We've had 4 over the past 18 years. Everyone has been a good car. We didn't want a box on wheels so no crossovers. Camry and Accord are not AWD. We had a AWD Cadillac but the Subaru is more car for less money.

Worthless MFD
For what i paid for this car, i really wanted to love it, after all, it handles great and is super comfortable, even on long drives. It handles great in the snow and has great safety features. However, the MFD and navigation system have ruined this car for me, that after 8 months i am ready to take the hit and trade it in. There are so many problems (even after 2 updates and the dealer saying its fine) that make the car too frustrating. After about a minute, the MFD turns off by itself and can take up to 2 minutes to come back on every time I start the car. About half the time it won't recognize my phone. The voice commands are useless and don't work well at all. It won't let me make a hands-free call for instance, which means i need to look away from the road to make a call. There are so many things that you need to touch the screen for, including changing the seat temp or air flow, that i think i need to look at the screen more than i should. The user recognition doesn't work most of the time. The navigation system is the worst I have ever used. Worse even than the first GPS device that I ever bought. I have compared it to the ones on my phone and my husband's car, and the built-in gps system always gives poor directions and will always pick the longest route (I have it set for fastest). Since the nav system is useless, i use one on my phone, which means i can't listen to the USB on which all my music is stored. The built-in Nav system can't find POI's unless they are for brand name store (like it will find Starbucks, but not a local coffee place) and trying to get it to find an address by voice command is undertaking in frustration. So all in all, while the car may be safe and reliable, its functionality is horrid. I regret my purchase of this car. 3/21/21 - after several updates by Subaru’s techs, the MFD is still a horrible piece of electronics. The mapping system by Tom Tom is woefully worthless and there are still so many problems with freezing and long lag times. It is a safety issues that the driver needs to spend so much time fiddling with a screen while driving. So I’ve had this car for 16 months now - didn’t trade it in obviously - and still can’t stand the MFD and still regret my purchase. Look very carefully at the functionality of this display unit before buying!

2022 Legacy touring XT
I haven’t had it long enough to review “dependability” so this is more of a “first impression/ 500 mile review”. Pros: Interior - I love the Napa leather The big screen for the entertainment system is nice I like having the physical buttons to adjust the temperature outside of the entertainment screen Very little road noise Visibility is good Seats our very comfortable POWERTRAIN/FUEL MILEAGE/DRIVING EXPERIENCE - Handling is fantastic Good power/acceleration with the turbo charged engine. 0-60 in around 6 seconds. Adaptive cruise control with lane assist work great. I’m averaging about 28 miles per gallon driving about 85% freeway and 15% city The ride is SUPER smooth even over roads that are in desperate need of maintenance. CONS - My biggest complaint is probably that the back up camera is no better then a $200 aftermarket backup camera. I would think that in 2022 the top model of the legacy would have a birds eye view camera (my 2017 Nissan has it) but at the very least a higher quality back up camera. Along those same lines, the front camera is terrible! It’s a grainy/pixilated looking image. I know “first world problems” but I just expected more out of a car this luxurious in many other ways. A close 2nd on my biggest complaints is that I wish there was a way to permanently disable the auto start and stop along with the eyesight that watches the driver. It’s not hard to do but it’s annoying that I have to do it every time I turn off the car and restart it. And at number 3 and last on my list on biggest cons… This one is mind blowing to me. In what universe does a car manufacturer get to 2022 and not put a automatic start button on the key fob? They must have thought “Instead, let’s put it in a mobile app (with a subscription) so our consumers get to navigate through the apps on their phones, open the app, take a semester in computer software engineering to learn how to set up everything and wait for our app to open and load every time so that they can automatically start their cars”??? So now I can start my car from another country, unlock it and adjust my heated seats and climate controls but I can’t push a button on my key fob and start it from 10 feet away?? Who was the genius??? I literally can have a aftermarket system to start my 1956 bel air with my key fob but not in a 2022 legacy, no way….. I digress. Now to my complaints that are just me trying to be picky…. The delay on acceleration from a stop leaves a little to be desired but definitely not terrible. I, personally, do not like the stock wheels but I could be the oddball there since one of the first thing my wife mentioned was the “fancy wheels” There is no automatic start button on the key fob. Oh did I already say that? Yeah, well it’s stupid. Overall, the car has luxurious interior, exterior could maybe use an update but I like it and the power and ride is great all while offering AMAZING AWD capabilities.

Subaru nailed it for safety and comfort
This is my 2nd Subaru Legacy Limited. I loved the quirkiness of my 2013 but this 2020 is leaps and bounds better than my old car. The technology is mind blowing and I feel safe each and every time I tackle the roads. With the eyesight and driver monitoring system with lane keep assist and lane monitoring the car practically drives itself as long as the road conditions are consistent. I love the interior as it seems more luxurious than many premium brand vehicles that I have experienced. I narrowed my choice down between a Legacy Limited and a Volvo S60. I wanted all of the safety features. I test drove each and found that the Legacy and Volvo S60 were similar in safety amenities but the Legacy has a slight edge on the quality of the interior in my opinion for $10K less. The engine in the Legacy is less powerful but certainly adequate to meet my needs so I went with the Legacy and I'm not at all disappointed. I am baffled at the fact that Motor Trend has this sedan ranked number 2 and Consumer Reports at number 1 or two yet JD Power puts it dead last. I also have seen reviewers say the technology is not great. (wait, what? have you compared?). It is great tech for the money and second to none in safety.

Having fun in my new car!
I have only had the car for a few days. I have been driving minivan type cars for quite some time. I like this one because it seem to be one that was easier to get in and out of then a lot of the sedans. I got this one because I needed something dependable and good in the snow but wanted something different than a van type. Hopefully I won’t know what that’s like for a while. The car is very quiet and has a very smooth ride. I am having a lot of fun and enjoying driving the car. I have not learned all the controls yet.
Outstanding in its field
I lease a new 2020 Subaru Legacy. We just completed a close to 6000 miles journey through the US and I was particularly impressed with the new Legacy's comfort, powerful turbo engine, quiet cabin and excellent traction. Once one has mastered the large infotainment system, it is a breeze to operate. The only negative aspect to the whole vehicle is the need to manually switch "ON" the Auto Vehicle Hold feature, every time the engine is started. Other than that, highly recommended vehicle with unparalleled traction and outstanding creature comforts!

7 months in my new Legacy, so far so good!
Pros: This was quite an upgrade from my 2013 Altima. I chose the Subaru because of the looks and interior room. The looks are very classy, especially when compared to previous generation Legacies. It looks and even drives like a car that costs twice as much (think BMW 5 series). I drove a lot of different sedans before choosing the Legacy. What sold me on the car for one thing was the interior room compared to other cars (only the Accord matched it). I'm a large-ish person so this was important to me. But in this car, I can and have sat 4 people very comfortably, and even the passenger sitting behind the driver has a lot of room. What also sold me was the technology features that the Subaru has that a lot of other cars don't, like the 12" touch screen that controls most of the car. The Bluetooth functions work very well, and having the large navigation screen is a huge plus compared to some of the other screens on some cars that I looked at. Plus I like the modern feel of the Subaru Starlink and the integrated look of the screen, compared to some navigation systems, where as some cars have that tacky "tacked on" feel to them. The interior has a lot of premium quality materials and a very nice look and feel to them. Cons: The downside is that I had a few problems with my car when I first bought it. It turns out that my car was shipped with a faulty controller unit for the navigation system that caused all kinds of problems. The most egregious and frustrating of which was that projection mode (Android Auto / Apple Car Play) was disabled because of this, and it caused frequent problems with other car functions. It took at least 4 of the 7 months I have owned this car arguing back and forth with the dealer trying to get this fixed before they finally got the unit in. Even worse is that my dealings were known at Subaru corporate because of this mess. Thankfully I got it all sorted out and my car works fine now. There was nothing wrong mechanically with the car, but the faulty navigation system was beyond frustrating before it finally got fixed. But if you do choose the Legacy make sure you check all of the functions on the car before taking delivery!

Luxurious mid-sized sedan that's great to drive!
So not only is the Legacy one of if not THE safest mid-sized sedan out there, it's great fun to drive in XT trim. The handling is confidence-inspiring and the engine is very powerful. The suspension and AWD work to carve the corners and the engine pulls you out of the curves and down the straights in short order. On top of that, this car has ALL the bells and whistles to give you a nice relaxing drive down the highway if that's the agenda for the day. I love it!

Grand Legacy for Me
I love the way this vehicle drives, so smooth, the best I've even owned. In the past I have had SUVs that were nice. None of the SUVs drove as nice, plus they sat higher and more difficult to get in and out. The dash board is not to complicated and was I able to get to operate it. The salesperson went through many of the controls with me -which was nice and was will to answer questions.

Electrical Nightmare
Had the vehicle since July 2022. Now getting it's 3rd warranty issue fixed. First the battery, then the radio, and now a window motor. I am starting to lose confidence in the brand. Each newer model has more problems than the last.

Get the XT!
I got the Touring XT. Incredibly smooth and quiet ride. The turbo engine provides PLENTY of power. The car drives like a sports sedan. Puts BMW’s to shame!

Really A Nice Car For The Money
This has been a great car. The ride is firm but comfortable. The interior noise is a lot quieter than the Honda Accord that it was traded for. The Accord I looked at didn't even have USB ports in the back seat area, even on the Touring trim. The Subaru does, even on the cheaper trims. I really like the heated back seats on the Limited trim. The 11.6 infotainment screen takes a long time to get used to. I found a way to get around the stop/start system (via Youtuber, "Subaru Owner Tips") by turning on the rear defroster. It creates enough of a load so the car won't stop. You can turn off start/stop in the menu, but it's a chore to find. The navigation is really simple to use. The Eyesight system is really good and so is the Driver Focus system. I like being able to get into the car and the camera reads my face and sets my seat and mirrors to my profile. I leave all the warnings on, even though many find it annoying. It keeps me on my toes. This car won't turn heads like the stylish Accord or Camry, but then it doesn't cost as much as those cars with all of the options. Options on this car are sunroof, navigation, Driver Focus system, auto dimming outside mirrors with approach lamps, heated steering wheel and LED interior lighting upgrade. They are worth the money. I find the standard power train (2.5 liter engine) to be adequate enough. It's a near perfect car for most people but perfect for me.

2020 Legacy
Just traded a 2015 Legacy Limited for a 2020 Legacy Limited. So far, great. Feels like I moved from a Toyota to a Lexus. Still learning and playing with the settings on the giant screen. Smoother, quieter, more powerful. Love the safety features, including Eye Sight and the feature that scans your face and alerts you to watch the road if you’re not. Not thrilled with the Start/Stop but will give it a couple of weeks..you can disable at the beginning of each drive.

This sedan is the best kept secret
Ignore what people say - the engine is perfectly adequate, and incredibly efficient for AWD. Super comfortable ride, and very secure with all the safety features.

Great ride, zippy fun and fast!
In 2020 I had purchased a Jetta and felt the lackluster performance as an adherence, even with its fully loaded interior, making the Jetta pedestrian for my liking. So I traded it in for a Legacy Premium. First Subaru I've owned and I will say the cabin is very quiet, the ride is smooth and balanced, not overly stiff on the suspension. The seats are comfortable, one thing I disliked about my synthetic leather VW seats, but for the same price the VW came with a slew of safety that the entry level Legacy doesn't have. Yes I have the eyesight, but to be honest sometimes I find it to be a bit of a hindrance for some safe driving, but I do not have driver side warning systems, though I do have a back up cam so some things are a interesting trade off. Both models had auto features, the only thing Subaru doesn't have on this level is automatic wipers at this price point. Outside of that, I feel as if the asymmetrical all wheel drive is more meaningful in the 4 season weather my state has. The standard Yokohama tires on the Legacy provide a solid grip to the road alongside a well responsive braking system. Audio is much better than the legacy and I had premium speakers on that model, whereas the entry-level kit on this model is above average in nearly every format I listen to - I used to need to tune the Jettas a lot. The only drawback I have noticed is a slightly lower MPG in the Legacy, whereas I would get nearly 45+ on the Jetta I have averaged a bit above 35+ on the Legacy with similar driving conditions between now and then. Lasting impressions between the Jetta and the Legacy are both fine automobiles, I do like the Legacy much more. The lower center of gravity provided by the boxer motor, the naturally aspirated performance is much better, and the standard awd is a better bang for the buck and I think the Legacy is more eye catch than the generic Jetta.

Subaru 2022 Legacy Limited Quality Lost
Update.... I know this car is out there as used cars, but I would like to warn anyone thinking about buying. Since I posted the original "it's an OK car." the electronics have been a major problem. I had to fight with the dealer to have them even take the time to look at the issue with the sound system and it it's mind of it's own where it will blare with no provocation (which is bad when you are starting the car at 4AM) and the display unit that is so slow, molasses flows faster than the response from hitting a selection. That's when the display even decides to acknowledge the car is running and should be responding. The dealer finally got approval from Subaru (or so they said they were waiting for Subaru) to do a warranty replacement for the computer brains, not the display unit. They did that and it didn't help the issue with slowness and the blaring. I took the car back and nobody acknowledged there was still an issue. So, I figured it is what it is and realizing Subaru is no longer the quality product they once were.

Very nice car overall, but nothing's perfect!
We have a crimson red pearl 2022 Subaru Legacy Limited XT which currently has 14,000 miles. My wife loves it. Happy wife, happy life. While there are trendier (more modern?) designs out there, we think it's a handsome enough car though it ain't going to win any awards for that! Some of the others look overdone, trying too hard. The turbo has great pick up in all situations and I've been surprised at how unobtrusive the cvt performs. MPG is decent. It rides smoothly (I find the steering too light but it's okay), it feels composed on the road and the seats are among the more comfortable I've tried - the thigh extension is a particularly nice touch. Interior materials and design are generally quite nice. The shape of the trunk makes it feel much larger than what the specs indicate. The huge touchscreen definitely could have been simplified but my non-techie wife seems fine with it. The fact that you have to go to the dealer to get an update on the screen layout (they improved the climate control area) instead of over-the-air is ridiculous. We always use our phones for navigation so I can't comment on that, but other people have complained about it. The WORST rear-view camera image quality I've ever seen (over-contrasted/over-saturated) and I haven't found a way to adjust it. It ranges from poor to useless. It's also not even large, especially considering the humungous screen. How can we have a 2016 Ford Fusion SE AWD with a much better quality image and larger?? I've turned off some of the nanny features like lane departure warning and muted the blind spot warning. Life is better. A panoramic sunroof or at least the larger one would have been a nice improvement over the standard one. There is a shallow parcel shelf at the knee of the passenger which is too intrusive. Having to use the phone app instead of a remote start button on the fob is dumb. You should have both options, as they each have their pros and cons. Subaru has been using the exact same alloy wheel design on Legacies for several years. Time for a change. We had a defective front strut replaced under warranty. The dealer in NY was fantastic.

Subaru Legacy 2020 Keeps failing
My car is at 88000 miles now which means I drive a lot mostly in highway. I've driven cars in US for about 34 years now and never had this many issues for a new vehicle. 1. I had to replace Windshield 3 times so far which makes last windshield is 4th one. All 4 times it was a small pebble and I wouldn't worry about that but it cracks next day morning. It just cracks as temperature changes. By the way, I am living in San Jose, CA which is not cold at all! 2. Thermal control value failed at 70000 miles or so I had to replace it. 3. Transmission is starting to go out at 75000. I have to replace it now which make me getting mad. 4. Touch screen is not working once in a while until ignition has to be turned off first and restart the car.

Love my Legacy Sport
Smooth ride, handles well, and once I realized you push and not punch the pedal on a CVT performance was fine. i was coming out of a Charger w/ hemi and knew my drag racing days where over but I have no problem passing or cruising at 80mph on the highway. Contrary to some reviews I get a lot good comments about how good the blackout looks on the Sport. Was hard trading in my charger but i needed a good AWD and I am very happy with my Sport.

Significant Subaru Legacy Improvement
I traded in my 2018 Subaru Legacy Limited sedan for the 2020 Legacy Touring XT. For 2020 Subaru moved to a Global Platform for several models. This 2020 model is so much better than the 2018 model. The ride has been greatly improved. It has Nappa Leather with a pull out extension for the drivers seat giving additional support for the legs. The 2.4 liter Turbo provides 260 HP as compared to the 4 Cyl 2.5 litre 182 HP. They've added a front camera, and power folding mirrors, and wireless phone charging. The safety equipment is also improved. On the 2018 model it had lane centering assist, so if you wandered to the edge of your lane it would steer you back into the lane. The 2020 Legacy XT provides lane centering when using the Cruise control. So this model will keep you centered in your lane. It is amazing. The exterior lights are LED and the headlights that turn when you turn. The biggest change is the screen for Nav and other features. It looks like an iPad. It has a start/stop feature that is far from smooth. when you stop at a red light the engine will shut off and when you release the brakes the engine restarts and shakes. Not a great feature. You can press a button on the screen to turn it off but you have to do it every time you restart the car. The front doors have puddle lamps when opened. There are front and rear heated seats. The front seats are also ventilated. My real world MPG on the highway is between 30 - 33. In the city the mpg is around 20 - 24. I replaced the dome light and the trunk light with LED's. The map lights in front are led. The CVT transmission somehow feels like a regular transmission. It has noticeable shifting patterns and you can manually shift the car with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. This car looks like a luxury car on the inside and it rides and handle like one as well. It is a significant improvement over my former 2018 Legacy. I've had the car for about a year. The car has WiFi, in fact Subaru downloaded new software a couple days ago. It was done overnight while the car was parked in my garage.

Safety features saved my son from major injures!
A guy pulled out from a side road right in front of him and he couldn't stop in time. My son was going 70 mph. (Country highway) He swerved so that he wouldn't hit him but it happened too fast to not hit the guy. After my son hit the guy he slid into the pole on the side and then into the culvert. When the car hit the pole, the side air bags immediately popped open and kept him safe from getting hurt. The car is totaled, but my son is safe. No injuries. No whiplash, no cuts, no broken bones, nothing. The police officer was in disbelief that he was okay considering how bad of shape the car was. Praise God for Subarus. Getting him another.

The highway cruiser that blends into the crowd
I've had my Subaru Legacy brand new from the dealer and I'm almost 36,000 Miles on the odometer so I feel like I know my legacy pretty well at this point. Sport is an appearance package, this car is not a sleeper in the slightest. The CVT droans with a quaint growl but leaves so much to be desired in the punchiness, but you'll be able to keep up at highway cruising speeds which is what this car was made to do, be a roadtrippers dream. The interior is comfortable, seats are nicely bolstered and I've made multiple 4+ hour journey's from the Fort Lauderdale area to Jacksonville and the Keys in comfort. The tech in this car, is not for everyone. alot of people dislike the controls being in the actual screen itself but once you get used to it you really do come to appreciate the ease and the "coolness" of the big tablet like screen. The GPS system is lousy, protip, get the MySubaru app and just copy and paste addresses to the destinations tab there. Its so much better than hassling with the GPS in the car itself. Once you learn how to master eyesight you come to rely on it particularly in stop and go traffic, this is a feature that I miss alot on other cars when I rent; the competitions systems just aren't as good as the eye sight system imo. My fuel mileage has been a bummer rounding out at about 26 MPG, with a mix of city/highway over 36K miles. This car is made for the person that wants a really basic form of transportation; wants some good tech and safety features without a really crazy price tag, oh, and they need to get from point A to Point B in any weather condition. I love my car, I just wish that it was in a Hybrid PHEV form.

Really good car just couple of small issues
My car is only 14 months and has 7800 miles. My issues are: when traveling during heavy rain my eyesight messaging system is not working and this has happened twice don’t understand why? My tire pressure warning system doesn’t register correctly, when I put 33 pounds front it registers 32 lbs and when I put in 32 lbs rear and it registers 31 lbs I know the tire pressure machine is correct because I’m using the Costco tire pressure machine and it registers correctly. I also had a blockage in the air conditioning out pipe and the dealer took care of that. Other then that I get great mileage, got as high as 48 and a combo 34 so I’m very happy we that.

Luxury and safety and great gas mileage
I chose this car due to the safety features that can only be matched by the more expensive Volvo S60 with similar luxury features. I love that it comes standard with adaptive cruise control and awd. It is a fraction of the price of many luxury cars that struggle to match the reliability of Subaru and its stellar safety systems. The other feature I love is the large gas tank at 18.5 gallons coupled with the excellent gas mileage. I average 33.1 mpg in a mix of city and highway driving. I can drive from MD to FL and stop only once for gas and that is a feature Subaru should toot its own horn for!!

Great! Just some software tweaks needed
I traded this in from a 2018 Outback. I like the new features that the car has to offer that weren't in the previous models. There are some things in the new display that I really wish they didn't change. The GPS will start in the default view and will not stay in the last view you had it in. Also, you can't mute the GPS. You can turn it down all the way, but the radio will still fade out when the GPS is giving directions. These features were in the previous model.

First car I have ever hated
My 2020 Legacy just turned 1 year old and I'm ready to trade it in. I truly hate this car. Its the smart car that isn't that smart. When I enter, facial recognition is supposed to know who I am, yet it thinks I one of 5 different drivers. It is a super safe car so if you dare scratch the back of your neck, you will be warned to keep you eyes on the road. Any neck movement make the car think your not paying attention. That drives me batty! Along with the engine shutting off at every red light and then jerking on....I have had it. An update is that Subaru does have good trade in value! I sold this lemon and will never own a Subaru again, but I got most of my money back!

XT Touring worth the etra $$
I wasn't sure if I wanted to get the smaller engine and save $$ or spring for the XT. The XT Touring has so much packed into it - nappa leather is nice, the seats are comfy (and ventilated). the acceleration is strong, the stereo is clear and the car is QUIET! I am looking forward to many luxurious years with this car. So far the only qualms I have are very minor. (I like the way VW does their trip computer functions better.)

They almost had it...
Purchased a new 2020 Legacy Premium in March, 2020. Let's just say it's been more of a hassle than a good experience. This is my first Subaru and definitely my last. The car has been in the service center SIX times for touchscreen failures. Update performed - still issues, unit replaced - still issues, audio control unit replaced - still issues. After the dealership had my car for 20 days now, I receive a call stating that Subaru and Technical Support has come to a conclusion; good news? So I thought. There is an issue with the pre-downloaded Pandora App and Apple CarPlay. The interference also messes with all of the Eyesight systems and cause them to go offline. The apps are interfering with each other and that is what is causing the failures. They don't have a fix for it and I am being told that I will just have to deal with it until a fix/update is released. So pretty much I am driving around in a $32,000 tin can on wheels since the touchscreen controls EVERYTHING! The Legacy and Outback have the same software and touchscreen. Currently, I am in an Outback as a loaner and that unit is far worse than mine is. Buyer beware! Do yourself a favor and go with the Ascent.

Let's start that when you first start the engine in the morning sound like a truck or tractor, then the infotainment is so laggy and slow, lot of glare and gets very dim under solar light , Auto stop engine really annoying and intrusive and very hard to disable Did not like That is a shame because I love the brand
Subaru still hasn't fixed their Starlink issues
Bought it 2 months ago and it has been in the shop for 8 days and counting due to problems with the Starlink system failing to connect that they can't figure out how to fix. They replaced a head unit already and that didn't fix it. You would think after having to settle the problems with Starlink for millions of dollars in the past year, they would have fixed it. The Tom Tom maps are terrible, especially when combined with the useless voice system. It never understands anything and when it does, it can't ever get you the right location. The new format for the infotainment system takes too many levels of pushing touch screens to get to anything, which is unsafe as you need to take your eyes off the road to do it. For some, if you stop in the middle, it switches back to the home screen requiring you to start again. Even though the screen is larger, most of the apps only use a part of the screen. Also, Android Auto is problematic as it often will not connect and when it does it will disconnect while you are driving. The safety nannies are distracting, often going off when it misreads the road. The one safety item I wanted, blind spot monitoring was an extra cost in the Premium trim. The auto stop that is difficult to disable at each light jerks back into gear when it restarts. The interior is nice, the exterior is plain Subaru styling. Driving and acceleration are average, not great but not bad. While there are some good points with this car, it appears that the design and quality are slipping at Subaru.

I’m sorry I bought it
I have 5 friends who own a Subaru and all recommended buying one when I needed a new car pre pandemic. Well I regret my decision each day I drive it. The infotainment system is very inconvenient and annoying when trying to change the air conditioning settings. Do I look at the road or the screen? I can just imagine what it’ll be like in the winter. The screen should be angled towards the driver rather than flat across the dashboard Mileage is average at best. Plugging in the usb cord is awkward. Very jerky when first driving. Trunk is big but if you want everything to fly all over it’s best to use back seat. Looked under the front seats when cleaning and the workmanship is subpar. The flaps were never put down and it looks like someone cut the carpet. Don’t like that the a:c vents are vertical in the middle. Had to turn off the warnings when driving over yellow lines in construction zones - would just go off constantly. Would never recommend and will never buy any Subaru. am waiting for 2021 to start looking for new car
It's a great upgrade
My 2016 Legacy was totaled after a tree fell on it during a tropical storm. I had to buy a new car but wasn't thinking of buying a new Legacy. My dealer encouraged me to drive one. I'm not a "car" person so I was surprised by how "head turning" this new Legacy was. The latest features, from the tweaked exterior, to the dashboard, were exciting to see. Now, 6 months later, I'm still in love with this car. I've never said that about a car before.
Safest and most comfortable vehicle for the money
If safety, comfort, and driver confidence is your priority, this is the sedan for you. Excellent technology with sublime driving manners are new to the Legacy for 2020. I hope to keep this one for many years. I couldn't be happier with my choice. Finally a car I can see out of with no issues and technology to keep me honest and safe.

Not for short people
A fine vehicle. I liked almost everything about it. I am short, I could reach the gas a brake pedals, but the side view mirror was at an inconvenient location from there. I had to find another make.
