Not bad for the price
This is my first Subaru having had Hondas and Toyatas. I decided on this because of the AWD capability. Initially, the acceleration was painful given my experience with Honda and Toyota but after about 3K miles (I now have about 5K on it) it seems not to be a problem and Ok for the Chicago ways. I'm getting about 28-30 miles/gallon for a 30 miles drive to work which is about 1/2 traffic jam. The inside is spacious, blue tooth and home link work well but some of the inside seams seems to come off easily. People admired the outside design so much and they're shock to learn I didn't pay anywhere near Audi/Lexus/Accura/Nissan Maxima. I'm waiting to see how it fares in the Winter

It's a great car, but not for me
This car is great to drive. It has the turbo engine which has gobs of power and a 6 speed to boot. It's been referred to as a WRX for adults. It has excellent road manners and gets very good gas mileage. I you're looking for one, you'll probably be hard pressed to find one. This one is in very nice condition and has been adult driven it's whole life, It's also from the southwest and has no rust issues. I need a truck, otherwise I'd be enjoying this car for a long time.

I've been happy with it
I bought mine in 2017. It has almost 170,000 miles on it and I've had very few problems. At one point it started stalling at red lights and none of the indicator lights were turning on to tell me what was wrong. Eventually I was able to figure it out with an OBD scanner when a light did come on. Can't remember what the part was, but the repair was about $200. A small part of the exhaust was falling apart which cost about $150 to get fixed, but the mechanic said that these are known for having exhaust problems and the next part of the exhaust that'll likely break will be $250. In the 6 years that I've had it, I've only had to do those 2 repairs which feel pretty minimal. It's roomy and comfortable. It feels like the engine is a bit underpowered when the AC is on and I'm trying to get up to interstate speed, but it's not a problem. It got good safety scores. Now that it's 14 years old, I'm of course wishing for more driver assistance features and better gas mileage (I average 21 mpg with mostly city driving), but overall I really don't have any complaints. My last vehicle was a 1994 Subaru Legacy wagon and that was also a reliable car for me.

Bad in snow
I am extremely disappointed with the incredibly cheap, flimsy plastic bumpers/fenders/fairings on my brand new Legacy. I live in Idaho where we have ice and snow on the ground all winter. My neighborhood remains icy and there are piles of snow at most of the corners. We have no through streets, lots of twists and turns. I always drive slowly in winter because of that. Yesterday I slid a little taking a left turn and the right front bumper hit a snowpile left by the city. I thought it was nothing to worry about but OMG the damage it did to that flimsy bumper was just way out of proportion to the impact. The Potenza's are awful on ice, and AWD/stability control did nothing to prevent the slide

First week with my 2010 Legacy 3.6R Lim
I've had the car for a week and it's wonderful. 3.6R feels strong and smooth, 5-speed auto is spot on, and the car overall feels very well constructed and ridged without sacrificing ride quality. Has a sporty feeling overall. Interior room is superb (I'm 6'5") and materials feel very high quality. iPod/iPhone integration could be better as it's inconsistent (some touch screen buttons are inaccessible at times when they should not be). The NAV system also is not the most intuitive system out there but is very good. This car definitely looks better in- person compared to pictures where (for whatever reason) it tends to look awkward at times. Not so in real life.
Love It
After owning an Audi A4 then having 2 kids I felt the need to trade it in for an SUV. My requirements were AWD and comfort. I never even considered a Subaru, (I had not seen the 2010) and was very pleasantly surprised. Upon test driving the 3.6R it instantly took me back to my days of owning my Audi, but with more comfort and room. Exterior noise is quiet, but not as silent as the Audi. I sat in the backseat of both the A6 and Legacy with my 6'2" husband comfortably in the drivers seat and it was roomier and easier to get in and out of the Legacy. I LOVE IT!!!
I was very impressed BUT NOW ...
I am checking back again with new news about my 2010 legacy and I'm a little disappointed. I love my car but a metal part (bracket) in the engine is rusting and I dont know why? I have put only 8,200 miles on it. I am devastated is anyone having same problem? Please let me know. The bracket will be replaced under warranty soon but I am a little worried something else may come up! I hope it ends here because I love my Subaru I really love its dynamic and secured handling plus the 30 mpg I m getting on the high way.
Love it

this is my LEGACY, in more ways than one!
BUY, OR NOT BUY ????-- condition of exterior and interior are easiest to appraise first, but PRICE has to be most important for you personally, and buy, or not buy, accordingly!!

My first Subaru
I bought my first Subaru because I wanted a reliable car, good gas mileage, and all wheel drive. I don't really know how reliable it is because I've only had it a year. I got all that with this car except for a clunking noise thats coming from the brakes when you first start the car after its been sitting a while. I step on the brakes and it sounds like the calipers are stiff when they squeeze the brake pads.
