Used 2005 Scion xB 4dr Wagon (1.5L 4cyl 4A) Consumer Reviews
My Lil H2
Being a big guy 6'1'' and 275lbs I never thought I would enjoy this car. I couldnt have been more wrong. I drive 75 miles to and from work everyday and this car makes that time enjoyable. I cant wait to start tricking it out. I would recommend this car to anyone that is looking to save on money and gas.
xB nice style, poor quality
This is no Toyota. The Scion xB is a cool looking car, with good fuel consumption, but it ends there. It has no pickup! Don't try to get on the highway with the air conditioning on. My trunk latch came off when I was only trying to open it. I mean - it came off in my hand. Now the car won't lock. I have less than 14,000 miles and now I am stuck paying the bill on a manufacturing defect. Scion can refuse any repairs based on nothing other than their word. This car seems to be constructed entirely of plastic - CHEAP PLASTIC. Granted, it is roomy and cool looking, but looks can be deceiving. It's ride is too bumpy as well.

Don't buy it for the gas mileage!!!
Pros. It turns a lot of heads. It has great interior room especially in the back seats. Hold 4 adults with easy, but not their luggage. Cons. Underpowered, poor mileage. 25mpg low with a high of 28mpg and that's combined. Rougher ride than it needs to be. Softer springs and stiffer sway bars would help. Short wheelbase makes it choppy going over freeway slabs. Steering wheel position is left of center and too low. It really needs a center arm rest. Transmits road noise into the cabin easily. Dynamat in all the doors helped. Bottom Line: I wouldn't buy one again!
Been Deceived
The mileage ratings quoted by Scion are totally bogus on this car. They say it gets 30 city and 34 highway (or government says). I'm a 46 year driver that wanted a high mileage vehicle and by no means a lead foot. I routinely am getting 20 mi./gal in the city. This has been a real disappointment for me as I could have bought a hybrid for a little more. Has anyone else out there gotten such poor gas mileage with their Scion XB?
What's with the Ignition
We have really been enjoying this car. Gets lots of attention. Is roomy. But after a month of owning it the key got stuck in the ignition. Had to take it to the dealer and get a new ignition (or whatever) put in. Now after about a month or so, again key is stuck. Wonder if others have had this problem. Did we get a lemon?
