I have owned this car for two years now and I am ready to write a review. The low sloping roof reminds me of the custom 1950s mercs. The monster sunroofs add to the attitude. As far as performance goes, I have no complaints. The manual transmission model comes with a 4:20 final gear ratio. (them's drag racing gears). The 5 speed can take a little bit to get used to with the electronic throttle control, but once you get it figured out you will own the road. To sum it up, this is the best car I have ever owned. If this car were $5,000 more, I would pay it and still be just as content. As far as fuel economy goes.I have averaged 40 mpg on long trips at 65 mph. Much better than advertised.

Bought it 3 years ago, and got screwed by the dealer, but after having most of the major engine systems replaced, its not a bad little car. What they don't tell you about is the exploding moon roof in high heats ( Nevada heat with air conditioner on) and exploding GLASS wind break for moon roof. It is not recommended that you drive over 45 mph with your moon roof open.. WTF More info on line, about the recalls and "fix". 24-26 MPG non commuting city, wish that was better. Its got some get up and go but its hard to maintain that speed for long. Best freeway cruising speed is only 70ish, anything over 80 for long distances, sucks. I'm 6'4" and fit remarkably well in the drivers seat. Its a fairly easy car to work on. The lift gate latch is a common problem, but easily replaceable your self. Dealer wanted $750+ to replace the moon roof glass wind shield, my cost under $100 and 45 minutes, same with the lift gate latch. $120 OEM part, already painted, 20 minutes to change out. Would I buy another one? Most likely no but I would by a second generation tC. it seems to have less issues, and much better styling. There's a few great Scion forums on line, with lots of useful info. It may be a Toyota under it all but Toyota doesn't stand by the Scion line at all.

I love this car. It is fun, fast, and the price is great. My friend has a tC also and he loves it too.
