Last Saturn I buy

I love and still have my 1993 Saturn SL, so when I was in the market for a new car, Saturn was my choice. Sadly I made a mistake, since our purchase, we have had a recall for the rear suspension, had to put in a new transmission and put up with "shoddy" workmanship. My 1993 SL1 drives much quiter and better. No wonder GM is in trouble.

one problem after another

Have 30,000 miles. Needed a clutch the first week, then motor mounts, then stearing problems. Had zone in and they were no help. Just had steering noise corrected in front end then appeared in steering column, came back 3 days after repair. Hood release cable broke. Does not handle well on a windy day and if a truck passes you it rocks and the wheel turns in your hands.

Bad transmission!!

I bought this car used in 2007 for $8,000CAN with 110,000km on it (68,000 miles). Shortly after that it needed a drive chain, which was about $1,000. Everything was fine after that until last week! Although I love the look of this suv, I am disgusted that my transmission just blew at 143,00km (89,000 miles)! My mechanic said the transmissions in them are weak and prone to fail. They cost more to rebuild than to replace, and the cost of to replace the transmission is about $5000 all said and done. Unbelievable! It is not worth spending that kind of money so I'm left with a vehicle worth about $800 and have to purchase something else. Very disappointing that this was not a RECALL.

This is my third Saturn. I previously owned an SW2 and an L100. I was in a serious accident with my L last year, but came away unscathed. I'm sold on the safety and reliability of Saturns, but wanted more car around me. Hence, my move to the larger Vue. I've had the car for 15 months, and love it. I went with the 4-cylinder, to get better mileage. The acceleration and power are adequate. I've read reviews from owners unhappy with various aspects of the vehicle, but my experience has been good. I've had only one mechanical problem - a front rotor that was defective. No drivability problems.

The most enjoyable buying experience I have ever encountered. No hassle - no haggle. It was wonderful.
