Saturn: so-so

After 50,000 km, the L is okay. Had to have the slave cylinder replaced during at 20,000 km. (under warrantry). Can't say I'm thrilled with the car. It's okay. Good room for my family of four and a decent trunk that is hampered by achaic trunk hinges that intrude. Passats gas hinges are better. The engine, though it receives raves, I find to be enimic. It only pulls around 5000 rpm, which means a lot of stirring of the shifter. The steering wheel is to big. Reminds me of a Crown Vic. I suppose this appeals to older target group.

I know its still early, but I love my L200. The ride is quiet and comfortable and the sound system is terrific. For value alone - it is a fantastic car. I just love getting in the car and driving it. I can't recommend the L200 enough. Give the Saturn a shot. It's a terrific buying experience and you won't be disappointed.

V-6 Gets Poor Mileage

MoBill, 10/03/2002
2002 Saturn L-Series LW300 4dr Wagon (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

We bought this car when our daughter was born. The car is driven about 130 miles a day in highway driving. It is very nice in handling, luggage capacity, and the heated seats are great. The gas mileage has been poor from the beginning. The car only get's 23-24 mpg on the highway (straight driving at about 60 mph). Saturn confirms these figures, but only gives excuses.Their reasoning is since the on- board computer gives no error codes, everything is fine. With only a 15.9 gallon tank, we fill it up every other day.

I'd never buy Saturn again

The first year I had the car all was good. That changed drastically the next year. Had tires replaced at 30,000 miles, then tie rod, power steering rack, battery, brake casing. My brakes are going, but was told that I need to replace rotors with pads (L series cars have soft rotors), and directional signals don't work when temperature is either really hot or cold. When I get service on the car I have to tell them what needs to be fixed from TSB's posted on Internet; they haven't a clue. Stay far away from this car!!!

I purchased the car new and have been very happy with it. I drive for a living and find the car a real pleasure. Climate control is kind of stupid with the automatic temp. control. Had a little problem with dripping coolant, but was taken care of by dealer. Handles nice and is very comfortable and I am 6' and 230 lbs. Holds 4 adult and the truck is roomy. Seems to have a little to much road noise, but much better then my Chrysler. Engine is spunky and rides nice on the high way. Hard to see out of back window with the spoiler. Would buy again and again. Compares very well to my Camry.
