1990 olds
I think it has been and still is a very good car, don't know why they discontinued it.
Quad 4 quick but costly
This is a fun car to drive, small but not too small and very quick for what it is. I love the Quad Four Engine (2.3L) except for the head gasket which seems to go out on every one sooner or later and its about a 700- 800 dollar repair.
My favorite joke
This really was a great car to modify. At less than 2600 lbs, this peppy little 4 cyl took very well to speed. Rebuilt engine, flowmaster exhaust, and bigger stock wheels made this a very fast and unexpected street car. Lots of room in engine compartment for aftermarket additions. No one expected a car like this to race so well. This eats hondas like popcorn. 185,xxx miles.
Blue bomber
this vehicle was in the family for years. Never broke down once. Did have it's problems- ignition coils went, went through 3 alternators. Part of the transmission went at 90K. Other than that, a dependable car.
Best of the Rest
This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. 225,000 miles with zero mechanical trouble. Now regular maintenance has been done without exception and the normal wear items have been replaced ie; tires, shocks, altenator etc. But not one dime have I spent on repair of anything related to this car. It is great on gas, fun to drive, and a joy to own.
My Familie's reliable Oldsmobeater
Its been a very long time since we bought our Oldsmomile back in 1990. The car still runs strong. We had no big mechanical corrections until about a year ago. We put $800 into it, but thats the most its every needed. The engine for a couple years was running on three cylinders, because of a stuck spark plug caused by a blown gasget. For a four cylinder this thing gets up and moves. My father drove this car to his work (45 miles) everyday for 10 years. This is why the car now has 183,250 miles on it and is still running strong. We have never owned a car that had this many miles before. Overall my family was very glad to have bought this car.
Little rocket ship, gotta love my 442
We bought this car with 10k on it. Loved it from the first moment. We have the very limited 442 version. Heavy duty suspension, great handling, fast, sporty. We now have 268K on it. 2nd motor. It is basically a race motor and costs like one to replace. 6K minimum. very rare 160 horse double overhead cam. Now a brake job costs more than it is worth. You keep owning one of these because they are rare and great fun to drive. Has a water leak that is impossible to find, just started.
Calais sedan
Car runs great and gets good gas mileage when everything functions properly. Cheap aftermarket parts can be a real problem. It is important with these cars to only use high quality ignition components for optimum performance. It would not be a bad idea to replace the vapor canister and EGR valve every four years or so to keep the exhaust clean clean and the car running good.
1990 Olds SL
i got this car at about 100k in 2000, now its up to 242k. It has been a very dependable car over the years and needs next to nothing for repairs as long as you keep up the owners manual service guide. I run it on 91/94 octane fuel and have only tired regular gas a few times, but there is a noticeable drop in acceleration and response. I have the 3300v6 3.3L
