Best Choice for a First, New SUV
I previously drove a used 02 Jetta. Likeing the handle of the road I had in mind a small SUV. My brand-new Xterra is everything but small yet not an overkill on sight and cost. It's a great transition to an SUV. Great quality, smooth appearance yet intimidating. Ease of performance and functionality. Best investment I've ever made. - 22 Tx
Street machine with real offroad cred
Nissan did a great job with the 2006 redesign, esp. the engine upgrade. Handles great on the road. Tight suspension, great pickup, quick starts. Quiet on the highway. No sacrifice in offroad performance. This is a perfect vehicle for around the town driving during the week and offroad trips on weekends. Design and interior are well thought-out with racks from Yakima to handle whatever your gear may be--skis, surfboard, bikes, packs, dog... Stereo sounds great. Great 360 visibility from the cab. Seats 4 comfortably except for the climb. Can change 2 to 4-high to 4- low with locking rear dif. Makes a great utility vehicle.

Just Awesome!!
I think Nissan couldn't have redone this any better from the bigger engine, to the plastic bumper to the step in the rear this suv has it all!! It rides very well and with the SE package you can tear up the roads without ever worring about having problems!
LOVE MY XTERRA!!!
I have owned my Xterra for 10 years now, and still Love it the same, as when I first bought it! GREAT OFFROADING, EASY STEERING, AND JUST PLAIN AWESOME!!!!

Disappointments
I've read a lot of reviews from other people. The repairs on my XTerra are mounting up. Should I bight the bullet and dow out the money. They say I have a cracked radiator which seems common with this model. Power steering fluid leak will cost $1200 to replace unit. Dealership says it can leak into other areas of car. Brake rotare should never wear out in my mind. And now wheel bearing problems. Several years ago, I paid to have the timing chain corrected. Why are all these things happening.
