Mixed Emotions

I love the utility of this truck.Great for loading up the dog and the girl and heading up the White Mts for long weekends of hiking and camping, etc. Great for packing a lot of gear. The dog loves it, too. Only a few complaints..which really bug me...its loud driving on wet roads...sounds like a door is open in the back. Also, the thing lacks pick up on the low gears. No muscle.(I traded in my TACOMA for this dog of a truck.) It doesn't seem so strongly built either. The fenders are weak. Overall, it is a strong like. But, it aint no TACOMA TRD.

At first I had some issues with the Xterra. I thought that fuel economy was bad and that it had a tough ride. I found these 2 issues to be the only problems with the vehicle and they turned out to be personal issues. I bought a truck based SUV and I have owned cars in the past. I had to go through a learning curve and after I have accepted this, I really love the truck-key is truck. It is a great buy and I am glad I bought it. The R.F. stereo is excellent too.

A Bit Disappointed in Nissan

Reliability has been great and it has definitely hauled a lot of items for me. Very easy to steer and turns on a dime. However, I'm very disappointed in Nissan craftmanship. Front grille immediately faded within 6 months. I was told by dealer that this was part of the "rugged" look and they wouldn't replace it. Seats are very hard and uncomfortable for travel. Windows have poor insulation - wind is howling. No mirrors even on the visors! Back seat doors are made for people smaller than a size ten (and younger than 50) to squeeze through to get into the backseat. But I guess you pay for what you get.

I've been very happy with this SUV since I bought it new in 2005. It has never given me a single problem and has performed amazingly in both snow and sand. This thing practically has claws for tires.

Love My XTerra

I really love my Xterra. I got it mainly for the looks, the durability, and the Nissan reliability. I was disappointed that leather seats were not an option, and it is a total pain to have to take out the back seat cushions to lower the back part flat. It has been very reliable, and kept me safe and unharmed in quite an impactive auto accident. I will seriously consider upgrading to the new model of XTerra, in the next few years, after I get this one paid off! It is very competitive in price, and I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking in the mid-size SUV market.
