It Rocks
I love my XTerra. When it is time for a new vehicle, it will most likely be an XTerra. It has been so very reliable, and has saved me from being injured in a very serious accident. I highly recommend the XTerra.

I love this Xterra
I have owned Nissan Vehicles for over 25 years and I LOVE them. I live in the northern west tip of NY state and we have SNOW!!! I got tired of never having a secure feeling in a car on bad roads so I traded in my Maxima for this Xterra. The very next day we had 8 inches of snow and the 20 mile drive to work was SO MUCH SAFER! The interior of this vehicle is pretty well bare bones, buut I have all that I want...cruise, air, 4wd and SPACE to carry my 25 lb bags of birdfood as well as my dogs!! I LOVE this vehicle as it suits my size as well...5'1" and 120 lbs. I can handle the vehicle and not feel overwhelmed (as I do in my husbands' Ford F150). I don't mind the winter now!
I love my Xterra!!
I have had nothing but great experiences in my awesome Xterra. I love it, and never want any other car or suv. I plan on up grading to a 2005 Xterra soon!!!
New Purchase
I was sold on my 2004 Nissan Xterra after the test drive. I needed something fun and for work, not for long hauls. I love the ride, it is very comfortable. I love being high and the clearance. I am still breaking my truck in, and hope to update my review in six months.
:)
I bought my Xterra in September of this year and Absolutly love it. Its a blast to drive in the summer or winter, its slow off the line but I hear that they are fixing that in 2005! Can't wait to see what new Xterras roll of the line and I can't wait to drive me a little more in the conditions.
Pleased
One thing I did right away was to adjust the throttle cables under the hood as they come from the factory with alot of play. Once I tightened these up the pedal response was amazing! I also put a K&N air filter in as well as new synthetic redline oil. With these simple changes I am getting 20 miles per gallon and drives great!!!
Made for adventure
Great offroad capability. It has handled everything I've come across offroad with ease. I used to be a die- hard Jeep fan, but this vehicle changed me. Comfortable with multiple passengers and car seat. Plenty of storage in back and roof rack. 14,000 miles without a problem. We have owned other Nissans which have impressed us with their reliability and we're betting our Xterra won't disappoint. Terrific SUV for the $
Happy driver
I'm handicapped so i need a car thats reliable so i can make it to my doctor every month and he's 5 hours away. I also need a smooth ride. I have the grille gaurd and the bars on my headlights. This makes me feel safe. Just recently i was smushed between 2 cars.Everyone else's car was bent horribly. They were amazed that my car was barely scratched. Thank you for making my life a little easier.God bless!
rock solid Xterra
this is my second Nissan ('97 truck was the 1st) and i love the truck feel of the xterra. i like the unique colors offered (mine is canteen green metallic) and that it's a TRUCK. mine in the base I4 xe 5sp, which is why i got such a good deal on it (13,7k drive out with an extended warranty) if you have a small family, and need a REAL suv, i'd look for a pre-owned xterra. prices are sliding down ('05 new body) and many on the market. since we live in houston (no mountains) the I4 is fine, plus i got 22mpg on my first full tank. i'm glad nissan didn't push the xterra too upscale, and made it affordable for all.
Strong @ kind
I just love my x-terra, my wife is the lucky one, she drives most the time, now i have a 16 y old daughter driving, she doesn't wanna drive my old car, and i understand that.
Just Right Nissan
Reliability is great and it is very easy to drive. Construction is pretty solid, but the outer car body dents easily. Maybe all cars are like that now. Outside mirrors are big and have a lot of range. Gas mileage is around 20 mpg when I drive conservatively - no racing the engine and driving 60 mph on the freeway (most of the time. :-)).
options
optional equipment not readily available and very high priced not a lot of options to gingerbread the vehicle would like to see more
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT VEHICLE- MUST BE DRIVEN -FUN TO DRIVE AND NEAT TO OWN . ATTRACTS A WATCHING EYE OF THE PUBLIC. REAL QUALITY THAT OUR AUTOMAKERS LACK.
Great Cruzer
Fun to drive, great crusier. So far i am really impressed.I think this is the best suv i have driven. My looking is over,i think i made a good choice.A good built suv.I like that it has a full frame under it.So far i have no complaints.Plenty of power and a great looker.Off road i can't help.
Very happy and Not happy!
Back in 2002 I had an Se model with a 5 speed manual tran.,and I loved it. Now i go to buy a new one this year and they dont have a manual tran in the Se. Now I but the tran i wanted, but not the model I wanted. I got the Xe instead of the Se.Why did Nissan do this?
Don't Be Fooled
Bought the truck thinking it was an off- road machine, wrong. Alternator died on me and the dealer said it was due to being dirty and wouldnt fix it under warranty. The truck has about 38k on it and it rattles like an Army truck. Gas Mileage is terrible. Installed a cold air intake and flowmaster and still don't have the advertised mileage. Highway miles average about 15.25 and city is 17.85 even with mods. Truck is sluggish at best on the street but does perform off-road. Watch out for front hubs coming un- lubed easily. DON'T GET THE 5 SPEED, i'll leave it at that!!!
Nissan Xterra SE 4wd
If you're looking for: -Off Road prowess -Utility everywhere -An acceptable towing vehicle -A fun to drive car -An spacious vehicle The Nissan Xterra is the vehicle of your dreams! If you're looking for that features that typical cute-utes can bring... Go for another car.
Great for price, but...
I am a 27-year old male, living in LA. Commute's only a few miles away, never had a new car, always wanted an SUV, so I got the Xterra. Test drove several SUVs and while performance wise this would not be my first pick, for the price and the look I was sold. It fits me to a T this car. I got mine in black, it's rugged looking and compliments have been plenty. However the gas mileage is atrocious! On a 19 gallon tank, I've probably averaged somewhere between 210 - 240 miles before it starts to reach E. They can definitely do better than that. So while I'd recommend this car to the younger, hipster person w/ a short commute, it's not ideal for the practical crowd or folks w/ long commutes.
