Sharp Looking SUV
One problem when first bought xterra, supercharger was defective and had to be replaced. Once problem solved the truck is fine.. Please to drive, its truck like, big and awesome. Great tires and ride is fair for a truck. Maybe want the new model
It Rocks
I love my XTerra. When it is time for a new vehicle, it will most likely be an XTerra. It has been so very reliable, and has saved me from being injured in a very serious accident. I highly recommend the XTerra.

It's Awesome, i love it
I love this Xterra
I have owned Nissan Vehicles for over 25 years and I LOVE them. I live in the northern west tip of NY state and we have SNOW!!! I got tired of never having a secure feeling in a car on bad roads so I traded in my Maxima for this Xterra. The very next day we had 8 inches of snow and the 20 mile drive to work was SO MUCH SAFER! The interior of this vehicle is pretty well bare bones, buut I have all that I want...cruise, air, 4wd and SPACE to carry my 25 lb bags of birdfood as well as my dogs!! I LOVE this vehicle as it suits my size as well...5'1" and 120 lbs. I can handle the vehicle and not feel overwhelmed (as I do in my husbands' Ford F150). I don't mind the winter now!
I love my Xterra!!
I have had nothing but great experiences in my awesome Xterra. I love it, and never want any other car or suv. I plan on up grading to a 2005 Xterra soon!!!
New Purchase
I was sold on my 2004 Nissan Xterra after the test drive. I needed something fun and for work, not for long hauls. I love the ride, it is very comfortable. I love being high and the clearance. I am still breaking my truck in, and hope to update my review in six months.
:)
I bought my Xterra in September of this year and Absolutly love it. Its a blast to drive in the summer or winter, its slow off the line but I hear that they are fixing that in 2005! Can't wait to see what new Xterras roll of the line and I can't wait to drive me a little more in the conditions.
Pleased
One thing I did right away was to adjust the throttle cables under the hood as they come from the factory with alot of play. Once I tightened these up the pedal response was amazing! I also put a K&N air filter in as well as new synthetic redline oil. With these simple changes I am getting 20 miles per gallon and drives great!!!
rock solid Xterra
this is my second Nissan ('97 truck was the 1st) and i love the truck feel of the xterra. i like the unique colors offered (mine is canteen green metallic) and that it's a TRUCK. mine in the base I4 xe 5sp, which is why i got such a good deal on it (13,7k drive out with an extended warranty) if you have a small family, and need a REAL suv, i'd look for a pre-owned xterra. prices are sliding down ('05 new body) and many on the market. since we live in houston (no mountains) the I4 is fine, plus i got 22mpg on my first full tank. i'm glad nissan didn't push the xterra too upscale, and made it affordable for all.
Happy driver
I'm handicapped so i need a car thats reliable so i can make it to my doctor every month and he's 5 hours away. I also need a smooth ride. I have the grille gaurd and the bars on my headlights. This makes me feel safe. Just recently i was smushed between 2 cars.Everyone else's car was bent horribly. They were amazed that my car was barely scratched. Thank you for making my life a little easier.God bless!
Made for adventure
Great offroad capability. It has handled everything I've come across offroad with ease. I used to be a die- hard Jeep fan, but this vehicle changed me. Comfortable with multiple passengers and car seat. Plenty of storage in back and roof rack. 14,000 miles without a problem. We have owned other Nissans which have impressed us with their reliability and we're betting our Xterra won't disappoint. Terrific SUV for the $
Xterra: Built Nissan Tough
The Xterra so far is possibly the funnest, most exciting vehicle I've ever been in. I just recently bought the XE 4x4 5M. The thing is awesome!! Now, if only the gas prices would go down a bit so I can drive a little more!
First Timer
This is my first SUV and I love just about everything about it. It snowed last winter and she drove like a dream. The controls are all within reach. The ride is pretty comfortable considering it's built on a truck frame.
xterras are cool
really good interior room in drivers compartment and rear stow area.very comfortable and fun to drive. all gauges and controls are easy to see and operate....rides great and not choppy..handles good in corners without a lot of vehicle roll
GOOD
This is a great vehicle, however second row spacing is limited (crowded)due to the stadium seating. Drives well in different terrains, however feels very light when windy and moves easily. Extremely easy to have an accident under these conditions. Overall satisfied.
We love this SUV!
Great sturdy car. Lots of room for our dogs in the back. Great stereo system as well.
The best car I ever owned!!!
I love my car. It's roomy. It has great cargo space and everything. Everyone complements me on my car.
In Love
I just purchased the Xterra XE 4x4 in yeloow. I am so in love with this vehicle. There are only 3 minor irritations. 1....horrible gas milage, 2. It could be a tad bit more confortable and 3. the arm rest is pratically non existent. The major draw back is it needs a bit more gusto. If it's a smooth ride you're looking for and not an off road vehicle shop else where. If you want an outdoor vehicle capable of what the others only claim then the Xterra is for you. Fun truck, great colors. Peruzzi in Langhorne went the distance to get me this truck with what I wanted in it. Excellent warranty!
Wonderful SUV
This Xterra has been a god sent!!! It is great to be a 23yr old and be able to afford an suv that is reliable and doesnt make you look like you should be hauling the soccer team around. I have one child he is 2 1/2 and the car seat fits nicely he even has his own dvd player on the back of the passenger seat. There is more than enough hauling space. We have used it in the snow and believe me the first snow storm we had after we bought it we were looking for untouched snow, we had a blast and it handled as if there was nothing in its way. The ground clearance is just enough to do all the fun stuff off roding but not to high that you neeed a step stool.
no title
great vehicle. fun to drive, handles great, terrible on fuel. need to pull a gas station behind you when you go on trip.
I love my Xterra
I love my Xterra so much, it has just been the perfect car for me and so fun to drive. I think it is great looking too. I have had no problems with it at all.
good stuff!
love this car with all the extras...only big downfall is that is sucks down as much gas.
Great Rig
Awesome power going from 210 hp from the 180 hp. Makes a big difference. Very roomy and performes great. Only thing is, is that it recommends premium fuel with the supercharger. With gas prices up so high that could be a problem. But more than worth it.
FUN 4X4
I HAVE THE XTERRA 2 YEARS NOW,MINE IS A SUPERCHARGED STICK AND IT'S ALOT OF FUN. HANDLES GREAT IN SNOW, LOTS OF SNOW. RIDES LIKE A TRUCK, WHICH IT IS. LOW MILEAGE IS IT'S WORST PROBLEM.
Love this SUV!!!
My 2004 XTERRA is the funnest most exciting SUV I have ever owned. I completely enjoy owning it. Gas mileage is a little rough, but with styling like this, it just doesn't matter...
for the money, hard to beat
Have had the truck going on three years. Other than a couple of minor recalls, no problems. Have driven several times across the country and put 60,000 miles on it in three years. It runs like the day i drove it off the lot. I have to say, for the money, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal on the market.
Rust Bucket
I purchased my Xterra 4 months ago. 1st time I washed it I noticed rust all over. I took it to 2 Nissan Dealers. 1 would not do anything, the other is willing to give it a acid bath. What a joke. It will be a complete rust bucket with in a year.
Great SUV
I love this car. It is very comfortable on my back to drive. Lots of room inside for my kids. Lots of ground clearence. The back seats are also very nice to sit in, you have plenty of head room.
Dependable!
My first Xterra was a total loss due to a careless driver who pulled out and rolled my truck. This vehicle was incredibly tough. I had a seat belt on and came through the accident without a scratch! I honestly love the Xterra. I feel it safe and reliable. I bought another. I love the look and know I can load up the dog, bikes, camping gear, and a couple of friends! It is a good buy for the 2004 models. I love shifting on the fly, it does well in the snow! This is a well built vehicle! I love it!
Good
We are really enjoying our new Xterra. We just took a small overnight trip about 800 miles roundtrip and was very comfortable. We drove a 1998 Chevy Tahoe before, and even my husband lover our Xterra!!! He has been amazed at all of them we pass on the roads, now that we have one. It is a great mid sized SUV.
Great SUV if gas prices were not so high
Unfortunately, you must burn super premium grade gas. I regularly spend $35 for a tank of gas that only gets me about 200 miles. The sun roof could have been designed better, because both the wind deflector and the basket really restrict its use. As far as the rest of the SUV goes I could not be more pleased. It has a very sporty look both inside and out. It also is very rugged looking and you can tell this SUV is much closer to being a truck than a car. Stadium style seating in the back is a plus. The Rockford Fosgate premium sound with the in dash CD changer is the best stock stereo system I've heard.
Great Truck
That's right. This is a TRUCK. Anyone looking for a soft ride and fuel economy should go with a Honda CR-V or Ford Escape. Got a great deal...about $3500 below invoice including rebate. If you're thinking about an Xterra, now's the time. There are great deals to be had out there!
Nissan X-Terra
For those who like to use their SUVs to its full capacity this is the best one for you. It is very sporty and rugged. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that other SUVs have but it is very enjoyable to drive and to get around in. There is lots of room and most importantly it has the reliability of a Nissan. My brother has a Pathfinder and he hasn't had a problem with his and he has over 100,000 miles on it. It is a good looking car with lots to back it up on its value!
Best All around SUV.
Great in the snow and in the mountains. The gas mileage isn't the best but its a great car for any outdoor enthusiest and it's still a great daily driver. It can handle any terrain you put in front of it and you can still get leather, a great stereo and comfortable ride even for long trips.
What A TRUCK
Before I bought my Xterra I read all kinds of reviews on it. And most of the reviews complained about the feel of the ride. Don't listen to all that crap about it being a bad ride. Test drive one for yourself and see. If you want a vehicle that looks like an SUV but acts more like A TRUCK this is the one to own. And lets not forget its A nissan so it built to last.
exterra
Underowered, gets lots of looks
Never had a problem
Except for the recall on my windows, I've never had a problem with my car. Carries everything back and forth from college. Rides rough, but makes up in comfort. Needs airvents in back seat, riders complain of being hot. Stadium seating is a very nice feature, but hard for adults to climb up into. Easy to keep clean, seats resist stain. Gas hasn't been a huge deal, it gets good mileage.
excellent
Love it. Its still the best looking SUV on the road!
we luv our X
this suv is amazing . it rides so comfy..looks are awesome.steers and drives so steady.went shopping for pickup and was so impressed with this Xterra, we bought it instead. thank you
SUV Xcitement
I bought my Xterra back in September 2003 and since then the excitement of driving this truck hasn't fade. Like others I did my research and read the reviews, folks the ride is not bad as others have claimed. Its a truck based SUV and I liked the ride now especially with the change to bilstein shocks. Gas mileage and power improve also after replacing the stock muffler with a magnaflow - awesome sound. I'm sure I'll enjoy this truck for several years to come. Highly recommend!! (Check out the Xterra Owners Club for more info on this SUV!!)
After 5000 miles already trading it in
I've been driving SUV's before they were called SUV's and this is the absolute worst one I've owned. Bought it brand new and even after 2 test drives, it seemed well enough, but once we got it into traffic, the total lack of driver side leg room proved to be a huge challenge just to find a remotely comfortable pedal to steering wheel position. This, along with the poor pick up is just too much for me and my wife to keep the vehicle. Also, the day after we bought the truck, the speedometer/odometer stopped working. Took two months and three trips to the dealership to get fixed. Total disappointment since we really want to like the truck.
Truck
It's a SUV based on a truck frame, how else to you think it would ride on road, like a truck. You want smooth on road driving buy a mini van.
we like it so far
we have 10,000 mile in 8 months. no problems with the car it self. good vehicle for the wife. as for me sluggish on power, and i dont reccamend the dealer we used. we hope to have continued success.not shure how cloth seats will hold up. will keep you advised.
Take it for a test drive.
I test drove the Liberty, Escape, Sorento, and Rav4, and bought this truck. That's what it is, a truck. Real 4wd, good power, great looking and a comfortable ride. Trust me, the ride is smooth, just testdrive it and see. And they were the first dealership that didn't just show me a vanity mirror. And for the price of those above, you get 5000 lbs towing capacity, and the room of a larger SUV.
A kid's dream.
When i was just a kid, i thougth that the only brands capable of doing REAL off road vehicles where land rover, jeep, and nissan. My favorite was without a doubt the patrol. all of them, with round head ligths. Since then i've been waiting to have a nissan off roader. when i saw the 2002, 3 and 4 Xterra, i went to a nissan dealer and bougth an Xterra. This is a great vehicle, on road is acceptable, but its a great off roader, no problems so far. the interior is strong, and i like that. If you want a vehicle capable and practicaL, GO FOR THE X!
good suv
great suv i will buy another one looking forward to the 2005 great for work or play
Love my Xterra
Went shopping and was disapointed in ride of 4 cyl. SUV (Rav4 and Liberty). Like the way it handles. Pickup is a little slow, but I'm not a speed demon. Feel this vehicle is under rated.
Power
this car could climb everest it has a powerful v6 and is backed with a killer 4wd system. iwouldnt trade it for anything
Fun to drive, but....
I bought this "truck" a week ago and it's a fun toy, but very uncomfortable in city driving & freeways (bumpy & I could feel every roll) & horrible fuel economy ($32 for a full tank). I do like the off road driving (a "nature- type" SUV -- excellent in the Northwest), the sounds (cd player) and the look. Only time will tell if i will be totally satisfied.
My First New Nissan
My Nephew had a Nissan Xterra, and I asked him how he likes it and he said they loved it, so they lived in mobile we had a Ford F350 which rode rough and I was having back surgery so we drove right to Birmingham and bought one over the phone all we had to do was go sign the papers and it was a done deal and we love it, No comparision to the F350 Dually Diesel, will buy another one in probably 3 years just like it maybe a different color. Good Power, I love my Exterra!!! and as many as I see on the road there must be alot of people who love them do.
