Go Rogue

Never leave the keys in the ignition, you will be locked out of the car! I hope this to is a glitch particular to my vehicle though, since no car should auto lock with the keys in the ignition, but beware. My dealership, of course, says nothing is wrong with it, go figure. Blind spots are larger than I would like. The CVT transmission is NOT loud! The gas mileage is great for an AWD vehicle, and my tires are not wearing out due to that, which I had always believed would be the case. Storage of personal items interior is awkward, but the rear storage and split back seat is very convenient. I live in Maine, and have always driven with studded snow tires in winter months. Since I bought this car two years ago, with only average tires (Goodyear Destination) from the dealer, I have felt more than safe and have been in control of the vehicle at every moment. Nissan in general is a top choice for your money, this is my third. The cost of this certified pre-owned car included a 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper from the dealer on top of the factory warranty, so I am confident you can get one for much less than I did.

Long drives make it a bit sluggish

I think the CVT basic problems and believe the computer system needs an update. My Rogue jerks every nce in a while and is not good lond distances. While driving from maryland to Hershey PA, after two hours of highway driving the Rogue tried to stall out and was sluggish off the line - like it was not getting gas. While driving from maryland ri the outerbanks NC. the Rogue was having trouble keeping up with traffic. After 3 hours of highway driving the car could not keep speed, when we stopped to get food at the first light it barely moved after stopping! After lunch it was back to normal and fine but this is two times in same summer. Currently has 89k miles.

2013 Nissan Rogue

Purchased vehicle in Feb 2013 and have problems. I only have 28000 on it now. Tires are Continental and are cracking in between the treads told I need new ones thats going to run about $600. Transmission is leaking and needs new gasket. Since the pan has to removed it is recommended to change the filter and fluid thats going to run over $200. Ihave read reports that the transmission has problems when mileage starts to go over 50000. I am getting a bit nervous as I will need to use the car much more then I am now. I have had steering noises which was taken care of while under warranty but now is happening again. I have no idea what this will cost. Others have reported that the doors lock on their own. Mine does that tried to tell dealer but didnt get anywhere as it seems to happen sporadically. I actually keep a spare key hidden under the car in case I get stuck. There is a "speed" feature which is supposed to make the car feel sporty when driving. I havent felt a thing. Headlight lenses are already fading. Definitely has blind spot problems and rear views are limited. Back up monitor could be better (wider views side to side and up and down). Engine noise is high and so so with acceleration and when cool out, tapping noise is heard. Dealer stated it was normal. Consumer reports survey done after a year of purchasing this model showed that only half would repurchase. I am in the half that wouldnt. I admit I went with the price being lower than the other comparable SUV's. I understand that as cars get older repairs have to be made but I worry that serious problems will need attention sooner than later.

A solid CUV

I purchased my Rogue in June of 2013. So far, it has proven to be a reliable, comfortable, and fun to drive vehicle. I test drove The Jeep Patriot, Toyota Rav-4, and Ford Escape, before choosing the Rogue. The Rav-4 and Escape were nice, but were pricey. As for the Patriot; no comment smh. The Rogue's smooth ride, decent acceleration, nice handling, and fair asking price were what sold me. The CVT does take some getting use to, but it serves it purpose. MPG ranges between 23.5 and 26.7. Only issue I have is I wish it was just a bit larger. The cargo space is modest but I knew that when I bought it. Overall it's a good vehicle, although I think a Tucson or Sportage gives more bang for buck.
