WOW!!!
'Was shopping for SUV from Honda and Toyota when we came across with the new Quest at a local dealership. Looks alone inside and out is already outstanding, but you don't buy cars for looks alone. After test driving it, there was no question about buying it. Comfort, technology, design, entertainment features, and power are all excellent deciding factor.
unsafe on steep downgrades.
We love and hate our new Quest 3.5S. The problem is the transmission. In low gear, on a 10% downgrade, from a complete stop, the car will accelerate to 50 mph in 0.3 of a mile without ever using the gas pedal. I have since test driven one other Quest 3.5S and a 3.5SL they both performed the same way. If you think it is unsafe please write the NHTSA to get it recalled.

Quest SE
Picked up my Quest couple of weeks ago and I am happy to say that it was worth waiting for. We saw the pictures of the Quest concept last year and decided to wait. We did not like what was being offered by Toyota and Honda. Both Sienna and Odyssey are reliable and proven vehicles but there is no style. Nissan Quest on the other hand has an engine that has won Motor Trends 10 best engines 9 years in a row PLUS it has the looks. The acceleration of the vehicle is quick and powerful. Whoever has their doubts about this van, do yourself a favor and go test drive one...it will change you mind about minivans.
Quest '04 Not Reliable
Attracted to the styling and drivetrain of this vehicle. Unfortunately quality is a large concern. Brakes wear out prematurely. Tires are in need of replacement after 30k miles. Noisy doors that get better and then worse again. Mirrors with intermittent problems. Company does not stand behind this vehicle, either. Delay you with excuses until items are out of warranty and then you pay. Refuse to admit any issues are not normal wear and tear. Cannot recommend this vehicle or Nissan in general based on our experience. Beware used Quests if '04!
Happy Owner
I originally intended to purchase the Toyota Sienna, but after checking out the Quest, I changed my mind. The style and price convinced me. There was a noise from the rear seat area when the car had six passengers, but my dealership fixed it with a new latching system. Mileage has been as advertised and the center console is great. Have had no quality complaints with the Nissans I have owned.
Quest the best for our family
We started looking at vans about 1 year ago. Finally we needed the van and test drove several. The Quest was the best for our family. Room - lots of room, wide opening doors with power. Leather seats for wear and tear by the kids. Plenty of power and handling for the city. Along with traction control for the bad weather. An excellent value for the money we spent. The Quest 3.5 SL has a great seating arrangement and the console in the middle is great. The sonar for backing up is excellent for as long as this vehicle is. Can't comment on the long term reliability but so far, so good.
nissan quest is an excellent buy
every inch of the 2004 quest is used to the driver and passengers advantage. the front console allows more room than any other vehicle i have seen, and i have test drove all the minivans made. great design, it doesn't even feel like i am driving a minivan, its more like a smooth riding suv.
some problems
We bought car 2 weeks ago. This is an awesome vehicle, the 5 sky views, sunroof and auto doors excellent approach. But we got some problems all ready: Sunroof badly leaked and van now at Dealership for sunroof replacement for the second day. DVD didn't worked, mechanical noise in area of the second row right chair or door. Dealership still working with it. I think for a new car and for 2 weeks a lot of problems. What else we should expect?
Nissan: 2004 Quest Great / ? Tow Package
We love our 2004 Quest. Great Power, Comfort, Size. We compared the 3 Japanese models and chose the Quest for price/options, enthusiast appeal, and originality. We had the door rattle thing, but our local dealer did something right to take care of it. Other than that, our only problem has been with the "tow package" and an alignment issue we've had since purchase.
INCREDIBLE
I TEST DROVE MOST OF THE AVAILABLE MINIVANS IN THE MARKET AND CONCLUDED THAT THE NEW QUEST IS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE THE REST. IT'S FUN TO DRIVE AND WITH SO MANY CAREFULLY THOUGHT UTILITY FEATURES, MY LITTLE DAUGHTER CALLS IT HER SECOND HOME. THANKS GOD THAT I DIDN'T COMMIT THE BLUNDER OF GETTING AN ODESSEY AND TOOK TIME TO TEST DRIVE MY QUEST.
We love our Quest
We compared all models in this market and the Sienna and Quest stood out by far. The reason we picked the Quest over the Sienna was the fold down middle row seats and the fact that the Nissan dealer was more flexible at the bargaining table. We got an excellent deal on an excellent vehicle.
Wife Now Happy to Be a Minivan Driver
After swearing she would NEVER own a minivan, my wife is proud to tell her friends she is now driving a 2004 Quest SE (many questions and comments from other other moms in the nursery school parking lot). The styling is cool and sporty. It is easy for her to get the kids and groceries in and out (especially with the auto-open passenger doors and hatch). Great performance from the V6 engine (much better than her 2001 Mitsubishi Montero LTD). Who said a practical car had to be a drag to drive? Much applause to Nissan for taking the risk on styling!
First Eveluations
Have been completly supriaed by the firm easy drive as compared to test drive of other vans and comparison to my other two cars--Chrysler Concord 97 and Ford Aerostar XLT Extended 92. Rides like a heavy/bigger car. Handled the Ozark Moutains extremely well for a 6 cylinder. Very little pull down on steap hills. Plenty of usuable space for pasangers and luggage. Initial impression love this van.
If you must drive a minivan!
In preperation for the birth of our twins, we purchased a Toyota Sequoia. As the babies got bigger, we found it increasingly difficult to lift them in and out of the car. Putting them in their car seats was tough, and I had to climb in with one hand first. After only eleven months, we traded it in for the Nissan Quest. Not only is this van stylish, but the features are amazing! If you have to own a minivan....the non- minivan design and amazing features sure do make the transition into motherhood a whole lot easier!
Oh Yeah!
I was anticipating buying an SUV. Had my heart set on Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Cadillac Escalade or the Hummer H2. Went to the nissan lot to test drive a used 2002 Tahoe. The dealer asked if we had seen the "NEW" Quest. I quickly told him, I was not interested in a minivan. He drove it around anyway and it was "Love at first sight." The vehicle more than accomodates my family of five. The kids abosultely love this car. It handles far better than I ever imagined. If you haven't driven it, you have really missed out.
Just my opinion
This is our 4th Quest and it is the best we've had. I thought I was stepping into a space ship with all the awesome controls right at my fingertips. We have two children and the captains seats are wonderful to keep them separated! We did invest in the leather seat package and have no regrets. The Bose sound system is also quite amazing and makes driving long distances a joy.
THE BEST
I LOVE MY NEW 2004 NISSAN QUEST
2004 Nissan,quickest Mini Van
A fun and fast Mini van that handle like a sports car...Had a Toyota Sienna before, this Van is much more fun to drive....
No Problems
After over one year of driving the Nissan Quest we are completely satisfied with this vehicle. It meets all of our needs perfectly. We have four children from 2 to 14 years of age and it hauls us around with lots of room. It is easy to care for and clean. The kids love and we love it even more. It has so many practical features, is well thought out and designed. From the back up sonar to the power rear hatch to the folding seats that interchange easily it is the best . Best of all we have had no problems with this vehicle. Thanks Nissan for a great Miniivan.
Quest second time around
I checked out Sienna 2004, Odyssey and MPV and decided that this van provided most value for my money. Lots of safety features, gadgets and most interior space among all the minivans I tested.
Buy the Nissan Quest!!!
I just got into the Quest SL, and the vehicle is outstanding!!! Doesn't look boring like the other competition, and drives like a car. Has "fold-flat" 2nd and 3rd row seats...no one else does. Buy the Quest.
Luv My Quest!!!
We had looked at purchasing a new minivan for about 6 months and were not too thrilled with the cookie cutter appearance of them. We were going to replace our old Caravan with either a Honda Odyssey or another Caravan but truth be told neither one was too exciting. We saw a Quest add on TV, went to the Nissan web site, and then the dealer.WOW! So different from everything else out there and a pleasure to drive.
Great Car!
The new Quest is not like a mini-van, but more like a car. It rides beautifully, has excellent pick-up, and has lots of great features. My favorite is the sunroof! It is NOT for the person who wants the standard old mini- van. The speedometer and gauges are in the middle of the dash board. I think this is cool, because I can see better from the driver's seat. ALL of the 2nd and 3rd row seats fold down. The 2nd row seats also tilt back and forth individually. And don't forget the heated mirrors in winter.
Great Van
I have driven this van about 2500 miles. Love the interior! It is comfortable and spacious for passengers. The luggage/grocery well in the back is great for trips to the store. Acceleration is fair to good, a bit too much shifting between gears as it speeds up for my taste, but trade off is decent gas milage. I have gotten around 27 mpg on the highway, 20 mpg for mixed driving. The car handles nicely, very comfortable to drive, handles snowy conditions well. Towing capacity is 3500 lbs, which is much better than the smaller SUV's we were considering. Would definately recommend this van!
The Jetsons Minivan Has Arrived
Shopped at Toyota for a 2004 Sienna - too many extras made it expensive, plus no airbags for passengers. Shopped at Honda for an 2003 LX, it was nice - but not nice enough, safety features extra. Waited for Nissan's new 2004 offering and, after a few weeks, received call from the dealer - they had a RED base model Quest without any gimmicks. I saw it, my wife drove it, we bought it on the spot. It was worth the wait. The base model really has everything you need. We paid MSRP and not a penny more. This is a must see before you buy.
Why drive anything else?
I was a little nervous about a driving a vehicle bigger than a car but it is very easy to handle. It didn't take much time to get use to.
Comments
This is our first mini-van. We have found the Nissan mini-van to be everything we wanted, lots of room, power responsive, style, and fuel mileage. As seniors, we wanted a vehicle in which we do not have jam everything into a trunk of a car. We chose the middle of the three styles as we felt that the additional cost for the add-ons were not worth it to us, maybe for younger buyers. Remember that this mini-van will require drivers to be more familiar with the length of the van and the short nose when driving, parking and turning.
My first Disappointment in Nissan
I've worked and owned several Nissans. This is by far the worst one I've had. At 67000 I had to have the Alternator replaced ($672.00) Now at 87000 the timing chain is rattling / pecking. Cost of repair $1104.63 I've put over 200,000 miles on my altima.
Shhhhh... Dad loves the minivan
It had been monopolized by the wife and kids for a month before I snuck away with it for a 500 mile business trip. Loved every minute of it. The nightime departure through hill country showcased the handling, ride and responsiveness. Lots of power and was glued to the road cornering. No peering through the wheel to see if I might be speeding (I was) due to the new offset gauges. Excellent drivers visiblity and room. Audio system rocks. Quest is at home on the highway. Set the cruise control and enjoy the ride. Effortless to drive and astoundingly comfortable. I'm thinking Titan for Dad for Xmas.
NISSAN SPACESHIP
I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW HAPPY I AM WITH MY NEW QUEST. I WAS ORIGINALLY LOOKING FOR A 4 DOOR SEDAN, BUT WHEN I LAID EYES ON THE ALL NEW QUEST, I COULDN'T LOOK BACK. WITH IT WELL EQUIPPED FEATURES, ITS MORE THAN A MINIVAN, I CALL IT MY NEW ENTERTAINMENT CENTER. WITH ITS FLIP DOWN LCD SCREEN POWERED BY A DVD PLAYER AND 8 SPEAKER SYSTEM. ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW. FORGET SITTING UPFRONT. I GOT THE BACK SEAT I THIS RIDE!
Buy Honda or Toyota
The Quest was the most unique minivan when we purchased it. In retrospect, we should have gone with a Honda or Toyota. We have had problems that one would not equate with Nissan. The end-links on the rear stabilizer somehow self-destructed, the horn fuse continually blows, the original brakes only lasted 27,000 miles. The rear brakes were shot after this period! I've never experienced this in ANY vehicle I have owned of any make! Radio is flakey and just goes mute on its own at times. Transmission has gotten stuck in one gear and required me to stop the car, shut it off and restart it. I planned on keeping this vehicle for a long time but now I'm not so sure.
lemon vehicle
Has been to service department 7 times since purchase. Problems with interior lighting--see service bulletin, loose steering column, fuel chamber leak, transmission shift knob came out and broke, overall very frustrating experience since purchase.Current complaint filed with Better Business Bureau
Good Choice
This is the first miinivan we have owned. As young parents we vowed to never drive a minivan! It was easy until we went to buy a new Altima and drove the Quest for the heck of it...When we got back to the dealership, we looked at eachother and hated to admit it but we were both sold on the Quest. To this day, we have been impressed with its performance. It is zippy, stylish and gets lots of attention. We have tons of room and our two girls love it! We will never own another SUV or car again.
For a van, it's tops
I've driven many vans, even if only brief test drives or rentals. This one hands-down feels like a nice ride compared to others, which simply felt like a van. Honda was decent, but Nissan has more sport and maneuverability feel to it. Quality is high; only the most minor of things required attention. After 2 years I'm still discovering nooks and crannies for storage. I'm not sure it's worth the price difference to many, because the rising cost of fuel also means lesser mileage vehicles are yet more expensive to own over the life of the vehicle. But to me, the enjoyment of its comfort, handling, convenience and quality IS worth the difference. I'm looking at the 2007 models now..
A minivan with style
This is the style leader for minivans. Great power, ride and gas mileage. Have had several squeaks and rattles, dealer finally got most of them fixed and it's quieter now. Defects in windshield and new one also bad but the attempted switch cured some of the wind noise. Third hasn't come in yet. Also wind noise in sunroof, use cover for quiet.
Keep looking
I owned the quest for 28 months. During this time I put 35k miles on it. It has been back to the dealer for the following, drivers window stuck open, transmission stuck in 2nd, a/c failure, Rattling (Seats, Doors, Windows), various recalls, exhaust leak, doors not closing, engine light, no sound from radio, loose interior trim , excessive paint chipping. The last time I brought it in they told me they needed to remove the dash to trace a wiring problem in the a/c. In the past I have called nissan directly, they claim to open a file, but I never heard from them. Today I traded it in for a Honda. It got to a point where I was living with the problems until I had a list of things to be repaired at onc
Minivan sports car
Not only did I have an excellent experience at the dealership, but has been extremely impressed with the van. It drives like a sports car, but has the space of a minivan and the comfort of a luxury SUV. Could not be happier with my purchase.
zoomzooom
Roomy interior, nice looking, high above others
Loaded without options
We bought the base model without many "extras" and still it seems pretty well loaded. We got the fold-down seat package-- spectacular. We fit a 7' Christmas tree inside, with our two kids in the second row, and were still able to close the rear door. I'm 6'4" and am finally driving a vehicle with decent head and leg room! And the 2nd row seats slide back so that my seat back doesn't crush the second row passenger. I love the look of the centrally located instruments, and the sight lines are perfect. My neighbors all had to check it out when we brought it home. They loved the body style, and were wowed again by the interior.
Love my Quest
I love my quest. I'm not a mom nor do I have a pack to travel with, but I thought this was the most comfortable and cool looking van I'd ever seen. The only thing I dislike is the low gas milage. It averages 18 miles to the gallon. Other than that it's great.
Best Quest ever!
Only have had it for 1 week and we just love it! We actually feel less stress driving in it which I can possibly attribute to the extra roominess compared to a much smaller car such like an older model Niss. Altima. Smooth acceleration and good braking characteristics. We love the body styling given it. This is our first minivan and we have no regrets about it what-so-ever.
Great Van
Worth the wait for my family. The skyview roof decided Quest over Sienna. Great for long drives.
Worst Quest by far
3 days on the road, the engine malfunction light went on. The computer had to be reprogrammed and an engine part replaced. Took 4 days to diagnose and repair! Now 2 weeks later, found out the right sliding door itself unbelievably scratching the side of the body making scratch marks both inside and out! Armrest, sliding door, rear window on left side are too loose while those on the right too tight. Gas consumption is almost 40% more than the spec, and definitely more than my mom's SUV. Felt totally betrayed by its looks.
Great style
I searched and test drove every major brand. I ended with the Quest for its style, passenger style driving, big engine and lots of room. No regrets!!!! Love the van. Get the DVD system, best option I ever paid. Kids were great on the long trips.
Great Quest
Had a 1995Quest but leg room was an issue as our 3 children are older. Looked seriously at Sienna because of split third row bench, wind and engine noise in 1995Quest. Style won over, roomy interior, comfortable seating for 7, powerful engine, much quieter ride. Center pod takes time getting used to but much safer for driver. There's a place for just about everything within the driver's safe reach. Kids actually choose to ride on the row bench seat! Had sliding door gasket reglued at 100 miles but no problems since. 3,500 miles and still loving it.
Our First Mini-Van
My wife has pestered me for years to buy a mini-van. I have resisted because I disliked to boxy look they all seemed to have. When I first set eyes on the 2004 Quest, I knew that the time had come to join the legions of mini-van owners. We are retired and travel frequently to new destinations. This is a sweet ride! The new Quest is head and shoulders above the competition in styling, safety, and amenities.
Best Minivan
The options, Engine Power, styling, price and Factory Interest rate on the Nissan Van were the best of any Minivan we looked at.
Fun & Sporty
So far the Quest is a very nice comfortable ride for our family.
Quest for the best
This vehicle is very fun to drive and an eye catching machine. Finally the minivan doesn't feel like a minivan. It truly feel luxury, futuristic, fun to drive and tons of gadgets.
My Quest Nightmare!
Very dissappointed! I think it's been in the shop as much as it's been driven! Entire harness had to be replaced, took 3 months for them to even get one! and that was after I filed a complaint with the BBB. Wouldn't go in park 2 days after I bought it, gear shift came off in service managers hand! Shoved and bruised by sliding door! I'm thinking, I should not be hating a van I paid so much money for! Always trusted Nissan until now, they need to replace this van, so I can get the true feeling of it and my money's worth!
