Average van at high price
We traded in a Silhouette for this. We have been quite disappointed. Wife liked the colr, styling and all the "bells and whistles." Unfortunately, she has been looking to trade it after just 3 months. Depreciated too much and any trade under 6 months voids the warranty to prospective owner. This van and subsequent poor Nissan service is not worth the exhorbitant pricetag.
The Jury Is Out
This is our first minivan and we are very happy early on.We felt the best value was in the S. The option packages in the S & SL are NOT worth it. A big selling point was the aesthetics inside and out. The engine is strong and you can set the cruise at 80 and it will go effortlessly. Fuel economy is disappointing. 22 MPG on the highway is about all, but it is over 4000 pounds - minivans aren't "mini" any more. Inside the fit and finish are not in the class of the new Odyssey or Sienna. The cabin is quiet and the ride smooth. The fold down seats are great. We noted some bad reviews on the internet but were bolstered by the 5 year/60K warranty.

Love it
I love my van. Rides great, large seats for added comfort. No cramped feeling. Cool ride.
No Problems Here!
Sorry to hear about problems other 04 Quest owners are having, but I've had mine almost a year with hardly ANY problems. Absolutely no door rattles, electrical, or performance issues. About once every two months the stereo would not come on. Dealer replacing it. Took it on a long camping trip, with the canoe on a Yakima roof rack. It was rock solid, served us well, and still does. Spirited performance, tight handling. Poor gas mileage around town, though (~15.5 mpg). I have come to *prefer* the gauges/display in the center - they are not hidden behind the steering wheel which keeps my eyes up on the road. Yes, there are some things I would change, but I'm like that with everything I buy :-)
SE with Wood Dash
Kids love it, dvd/sound system is tops. Head turner. Skyview roof is fantastic!
Nice Looking but Poor Quality
The quality of this car is horrible. Sliding doors rattle constantly. The car has been to the dealership for numerous recalls and fixes (at least 2 weeks). The dealer offered a "Spam Can" (Nissan Sentra)as lender while car was being fixed and this is unacceptable. I will never buy a Nissan again. The extended warranty that was recently appended to this lemon of a car was nice but I would rather buy a Honda Odysey or Toyota Sienna and I would suggest you test drive each before making a final decision. In addition, don't be fooled by the posted Fuel Economy Rating (20+). I'm averaging 15mpg.
Improvements needed
We test drove many minivans on the market before buying our Quest. The space was one of the main reasons we chose it. We love our Quest on trips with our 3 kids. The performance of the car is top notch. auto sliding doors are a problem in the winter. Ours wouldn't shut because it froze. Dealers are not properly trained in how to service vehicle. I am one of the fortunate one's who's door stopped rattling after recall. The DVD/sound system is great. Love the info center. It didn't take long to get used to. Plan on keeping this vehicle for a while assuming the issues that I've read about don't occur on this one.
Excellent Mini Van Available
This is one of the best design yet. It is roomy at the front and second row, but the third row is lake of leg room.
Bad Experiences
I've had in the shop so many times with the following problems: - 3 times in shop on "Service Engine Soon" light came up - two or 3 times in shop with steering problems - three times in shop for intermittent power window locking up problem - one time with SRS (Air- bag) lamp on - Door rattles even after the Nissan Recall Initiative - 2 times Interior Dome lights problems - Heater outlet behind first row seats can only be control from front and no heat comes out of ceiling vent - Computer Tire monitor keeps telling flat tire during cold weather - etc. Nissan won't accept responsibility or replace vehicle. Will involve BBB, next News media, and then lawyers. Trip to Disneyworld had 4 problems.
nissan quest
people are stopping me to ask what it is i love the fold down seats, wish they had a pattern to hide eventual dirt
I am disappointed with my '04 Quest
We bought the '04 Quest because Consumer Reports on previous years' models were so good. The exterior look was so cool, and the interior is unique, comfortable, and large enough for our needs. However, the body integrity has proven a great disappointment. We have been getting water in our trunk area, which we've brought back 3 times and still haven't gotten satisfaction. The small air vents in the ceiling fall off occasionally. The passenger side air bag light does not go off, even when a 165 lb. person is sitting in the seat. And it seems that all of the recalls require the dealership mechanics to rebuild this car every time I have to bring it in. I'm thinking of selling soon.
QUEST is the Best
This van attracted us with its good looks more than its competitors out there in the Market like Honda or Toyota. After the test drive, we didnt even consider the Honda or Toyota..The QUEST drives like a car and is one of the most spacious and comfortable minivan out there. Even the basic model without options was more than what we actually needed.Even though it wasnt a necessity, the sliding power passenger door and the power trunk door attracted us and we ended up buying the SL model. We've driven this van for more than 1000 miles now and my family loves it...So far so good.
lots of problems
Mostly cosmetic problems, lots of plastic falling off the car, but the doors and the transmission have needed work more often than they should in a 1 year old car. Mechanically, it needs a lot of work.
Great Minivan
Awesome car that's got zip and comfort I can't believe it's a minivan....really, it's great fun
Want to buy a slightly used Quest?
Let's see, where do I begin...oh yea, every week for the first two months after I bought it, I spent at the dealership fixing problems. Here's a list of the issues: sunroof stopped working (twice), side molding came off (on both sides), roof molding came off (finally glued it myself with crazy glue after taking it to the dealership twice and them not fixing it), side doors don't close when it's cold out (no one contacted me about any recalls), engine noise, running board lights stopped working (after two months), poor customer service. Every time I've taken a car in to get worked on, my wife had to wait all day for it. The van is poor quality and the customer service is worse.
AWSOME
I LOVE THIS MINIVAN!!! IT IS SO FUN TO DRIVE.
Like it
We definitely like this minivan. I also have a chrysler town and country limited, 1999. The nissan has more interior room and the access is great. Wish it had more insulation to give a more solid feel and sound. We tested toyota and honda before buying. Overall the nissan was the winner.
A van worth a look
Weve recently purchased this van after looking at all the others. This one definitely caught our (the wife & I) eyes. The look is great, the engine is very able, the styling is sleek and very different from the others. Weve had it for about two months now and it is truly fun to drive. The ride is pleasant and the handling on the road and around turns is awsome. This our first loaded (w/o DVD (decide well install aftermarket) and navigation system (really dont need)) vehicle. All those little extras are well worth it.
I wish I had never bought IT!!!
It was love at first sight but I think I was completely blind. We have had nothing but trouble from this van since day 1. Our van has been the shop around 100 time and that is not including regular maintance. Our sliding doors have came apart and we have had doors adjusted and not been able to open them. The trunk leaked and messed the carpet up and that is just to start. On top of that we have not had the best of service workers. We have had nothing but trouble with them. As we speak it is in the shop once again. I can't wait till we can get rid of it. Oh yeah and the trade it value had dropped b/c of the problems. I will never buy a Nissan agian.
Bad Paint
This is my third Nissan vehicle. Very unhappy with the paint quality on all three. Have had this Quest for around 2 years, never drive it on gravel and am very careful in parking lots but the paint literally is falling off the car. Approximately 2 dozen paint chips on hood already from just everyday use. Carefully washing in manual car wash and large piece of paint fell off with no satisfaction from dealer. Think strongly about this when considering buying a Quest.
Best Minivan
The options, Engine Power, styling, price and Factory Interest rate on the Nissan Van were the best of any Minivan we looked at.
Love my van!
I got my Quest in Dec. 2003, one of the first to have the new design. Love all the bells and whistles! Great storage space, cup holders, etc. I know the 07s have some nice improvements (like not having to remove the headrests on the rear seat before folding flat). Some other things I would like addressed: I had to replace all 4 tires and all brakes after 2 years - I hear this is a fairly typical Nissan issue. I would love the rear seat to be split so you could fold only half if needed (with 3 kids this would be helpful). The front wheels are so far forward it makes parking straight tricky. Overall - very happy, will get an 07 in December when lease is up!
First Eveluations
Have been completly supriaed by the firm easy drive as compared to test drive of other vans and comparison to my other two cars--Chrysler Concord 97 and Ford Aerostar XLT Extended 92. Rides like a heavy/bigger car. Handled the Ozark Moutains extremely well for a 6 cylinder. Very little pull down on steap hills. Plenty of usuable space for pasangers and luggage. Initial impression love this van.
Re: Back to the drawing board
My husband and I purchased a 2004 Quest sl after owning a 2001 odyssey that had its fair share of problems as well, and they were major problems as well transmission. Honda was much better at standing behind thier vehicle. Our quest has had doors checked three times, starter replaced after fighting the dealership after it broke while I was christmas shopping (we had to pay the tow bill Nissan was to refund the money it still hasn`t been done!), And materials in the interior are begining to fall apart the moldings in the rear doors, the heating ventin the passenger`s side in the front, and the engine having problems shifting as it starts out in lower gear.
Shhhhh... Dad loves the minivan
It had been monopolized by the wife and kids for a month before I snuck away with it for a 500 mile business trip. Loved every minute of it. The nightime departure through hill country showcased the handling, ride and responsiveness. Lots of power and was glued to the road cornering. No peering through the wheel to see if I might be speeding (I was) due to the new offset gauges. Excellent drivers visiblity and room. Audio system rocks. Quest is at home on the highway. Set the cruise control and enjoy the ride. Effortless to drive and astoundingly comfortable. I'm thinking Titan for Dad for Xmas.
Wish I'd Waited for 2007...
Sleek look, powerful, smooth--and handles like a sportscar (not kidding)... Too bad they ruined it with the instrument pod... It's such a quiet ride---until you turn on the heater or air conditioner... Even with the blower in the "1" position--the cabin fills with noise! I must not be the only one with this complaint-- because Nissan listened, and has redesigned the dash in the new 2007... I only wish I had waited--because there isn't a better powertrain out there...
Quest for the best
This vehicle is very fun to drive and an eye catching machine. Finally the minivan doesn't feel like a minivan. It truly feel luxury, futuristic, fun to drive and tons of gadgets.
My Quest Nightmare!
Very dissappointed! I think it's been in the shop as much as it's been driven! Entire harness had to be replaced, took 3 months for them to even get one! and that was after I filed a complaint with the BBB. Wouldn't go in park 2 days after I bought it, gear shift came off in service managers hand! Shoved and bruised by sliding door! I'm thinking, I should not be hating a van I paid so much money for! Always trusted Nissan until now, they need to replace this van, so I can get the true feeling of it and my money's worth!
The Un-minivan Minivan
I've driven minivans before, but none like the Nissan Quest. It's unbelievably large inside, with outrageous innovations and safety features. The performance is nearly sportscar like (salesman told me it was a version of the 350Z engine...believe it!!). Most importantly, my wife doesn't mind driving it at all...actually thinks it looks cool!!! The glass roof panels are awesome, and the interior is laid out like a luxury jetliner!! Thanks Nissan!! You've got some great products lately!
All I Asked For
We could not have asked for more out of the car. It has not been back to the dealer, except for re-call items and tires. My only complaint were the tires and they had to be replaced within two weeks, because they were not round and could not be balanced. I travel alot of highway miles and we average 25 highway all the time and 21 local.
pleased with van
the air cond. has had two leaks in pipe going along the chassis to the rear. both times it was repaired and now for the third time the dealer indicates I will pay since I am out of warranty. I say not fair. We will see what happens. otherwise a great good looking & running van.
Great Van
Worth the wait for my family. The skyview roof decided Quest over Sienna. Great for long drives.
Quests are great!
The Quest has been a smooth, comfortable driving experience under most circumstances. It does not handle well in wet/snowy road conditions (and I KNOW how to drive in the snow...in a van even) and has a few issues with side doors opening in extreme weather conditions (below -25 and also above 105). They were recalled and fixed but we still experience the problem. Always make sure side doors are closed before switching gears. Other than that, the interior design is great, every seat has a perfect ride! Very quiet road noise and very quiet body with no squeaking too and excellent options make this van a perfect fit for large young families.
Great Quest
Had a 1995Quest but leg room was an issue as our 3 children are older. Looked seriously at Sienna because of split third row bench, wind and engine noise in 1995Quest. Style won over, roomy interior, comfortable seating for 7, powerful engine, much quieter ride. Center pod takes time getting used to but much safer for driver. There's a place for just about everything within the driver's safe reach. Kids actually choose to ride on the row bench seat! Had sliding door gasket reglued at 100 miles but no problems since. 3,500 miles and still loving it.
Best of the bunch
The many inovative features we were able to get with the Quest were not available on the Honda, Toyota, Ford or Chrysler minivans. We drove them all and with the exception of the Quest, which handled more like a sport sedan, they all drove like the typical minivan. The positioning of the instruments and controls are fine with us because the controls provide passenger access as well as driver which comes in handy on trips. Fit and finish are excellent, just not as fancy as Toyota or Honda. But you don't drive fancy. Reliability and service has been excellent with only two recalls; neither what I would consider major. We have all the bells and whistles. We love it. Good Job Nissan.
Our First Mini-Van
My wife has pestered me for years to buy a mini-van. I have resisted because I disliked to boxy look they all seemed to have. When I first set eyes on the 2004 Quest, I knew that the time had come to join the legions of mini-van owners. We are retired and travel frequently to new destinations. This is a sweet ride! The new Quest is head and shoulders above the competition in styling, safety, and amenities.
Good Luck
I have had this vehicle for 2 1/2 years. Pros, Good handling, power, average 19 mpg, lots of room, exterior styling. Cons, The paint scratches and chips easily, slightly high road noise on than Highway, Relaibilty/quality is bad. Interior trim pieces come unsnaped often, Ac has been repaired 5 times. The clock is always fast. Computer is quirky, doors need to be realigned or adjusted frequently. Its had at least 6 recalls, doors rattle, strang vibration noises. etc. Service rep stated," we have had issues with these vehicles" Its at the dealership being repaired often. Nissan does little when you call in concerns?
Fun & Sporty
So far the Quest is a very nice comfortable ride for our family.
Earlier models may have some problems
Love to drive the car- very fun. Have had numerous little problems with the car. Linking sun roof, exhast problems- all have been covered under the warrenty but not what a would expect after paying so much for a new car. Hopefully Nissan worked out these problems with the later models.
My wife and I were so impressed with the styling, interior space, power and fuel economy, we didn't even look at the SUV we intended to buy. We chose the "S" trim level with rear sonar and 16" alloy wheels, which amazingly provides an abundance of standard features. The ride, handling and powerful engine make you feel like you're behind the wheel of a four door sports car. The cloth seats are vey soft and comfortable, especially the 2nd and 3rd row. The front and 2nd row captain chairs provides a "center aisle" which allows easy access to all seating areas.
should be called TITAN
Formerly owned three large suv ( ford/lincoln)... none had the superior cargo space, moviing space or body room. Nissan is a pioneer in the minivan family owned industry, amazing design and options all parent and child friendly. Will purchase again, no question.
good wheels
looks good lot of power beats all others honda comes close
Our Quest has begun!
Over 2000 miles on our new Quest SL, it's a great-handling living room! Handles and accelerates like a car (think Maxima), great visibility and huge side-view mirrors, really quiet and smooth ride. Excellent braking. 0 difficulty adjusting to center mounted speedometer, (now my wife can adjust the steering wheel without blocking out the gauges!) Incredibly easy access from any row to any row, DVD works great, input jacks usable for a videogame, videocamera, even an ipod! kids love seats, really comfortable and attractive van.
Surprised by how much I loved my Quest
I had 132,000 miles on my Pathfinder and figured I'd get a 2nd vehicle in order to keep my Pathfinder longer. I looked at a few other vehicles, including the Pacifica and because of the Nissan quality, the dealership (specifically the service dept.) and the fact that I liked the style, I went with the Quest. Wasn't sure if I'd like a mini van, but after 1 1/2 weeks and 500 mile - I have to admit I love it. Everyone who has been in it loves it - even my daughters teenage friends think its coo.
The right rear door
In two months my car has been back 4 times for the same right rear door problem. It intermittently decides to not latch, leaving the door to slide front and back while driving. Very unreliable after 3 years of a good relationship.
`~Master of them all~`
The paint barely chips, (I have two kids and their bikes scratched my toyota camry 02' very badly). The kids dont argue in the back (because of all the extras). When I drive this minivan I do not feel like I am driving a old station wagon! In conclusion the 2003 Nissan Quest is a great buy, and my kids, my wife, and I love it.
Nice Change of Pace
We bought the mid-priced (SL) version with the seat package, etc. We were Grand acaravan owners who became disillusionsed with low American car (Chrysler) quality. Overall we really like the minivan. Great accelleration & handling. We get a lot of compliments on the styling Downers are lower than advertised gas mileage, tinny sounding doors, non- split third row seat, and no backlighting on steering wheel cruise & radio controls.
I CALL MY CAR
THIS IS MY SECOND MINIVAN, WHAT A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS ONE AND THE LAST ONE. THE QUEST HAS SUCH GREAT STYLE I GET COMPLIMENTS ALL THE TIME ON HOW GREAT MY VAN LOOKS, SOME PEOPLE EVEN ASK ME WHAT KIND OF "CAR" IS THIS. I LOVE THE WAY THE SEATS GO UP AND DOWN WITH SUCH EASE, TOTALLY UNLIKE MY OTHER VAN. OF COURSE, THE AUTO DOORS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!! LOVE THE GEAR SHIFT ON THE CONSOLE. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE 2005 AND SEE WHAT CHANGES YOU'LL MAKE IF ANY. THANKS FOR AN OVERALL GREAT VAN.
Nissan admits 04 Quest a "Problem" car
We have had nothing but problems with our 04 Quest SE. 2.5 years later and Nissan has finally admitted to us (sales and service people) that the 04 Quest has had many problems with their electrical and drive motors for several of the amenities (auto open side doors and hatch, heating system, etc.). Nissan corporate will do nothing for us even though we have written many letters and made many phone calls to both teh corportae level as well as the Smithtown Long Island store where we bought the car. Smithtown also cheated us when purchasing the car buy out and out lying about several factors. We have proof but no one will listen from Nissan. I was a loyal Nissan driver, but no longer.
I like this vehicle very much
the vehicle is very unique and has a very good performance as well as very functional. I like its looks as well as its price value.
