This van is the biggest piece of junk I have ever had to drive. It stays in the shop (too much to mention every item here) and I hate parking it in small slots because you can't see the nose of the vehicle to see how far you are from objects you are trying NOT to hit. I haven't hit anything yet, but it takes me longer to park, and the turning radias is awful as well. I could go on all day, but I'll leave you with this: my wife won't even get in the thing!

I have had this car since the beginning. Engine has been fine but have sunk thousands into the A/C. Am on the 3rd compressor & it has just gone out. Also relaced core & rear unit.

I purchased the vehicle in 2004 with 65K on it for 4300 dollars. It has been very reliable. Only thing to go wrong over the last 6 plus years was the rear AC unit failed and the break lines rusted. Sadly I am selling the car (to a friend though) as we purchased a new Odyssey.

I live in Missouri, and one year it snowed really bad. This van never got stuck in the snow. I only had to get the temperature fixed on it. The only thing that did it in was hitting a armadillo about the size of a cocker spaniel.

I'm very impressed with my Nissan Quest XE minivan. Especially this last winter, when it started on the first try everytime in snowy winter weather that was consistently 20 degrees and below. I'm also impressed with the engine power this minivan has. The manual overdrive has also been very helpful when climbing steep grades. The gas mileage is well within competitive range of any minivan in its class. The sleek body and look of this van stays current. The interior has a very classy and clean look to it. I have not had one engine related problem since I have owned it. Perfect for a single dad with sole custody of two little boys. I love driving this van all over. I recommend it to anyone!

From '97-'99 I commuted 500 mi. weekly in peak commuter traffic on L.I. Expressway. This car performed well in all kinds of weather and held the road when other cars were spinning out. It's quick response and easy handling has avoided close calls with a bale of hay that fell off a flatbed and other mishaps that are a part of a daily commute. We took this car to MA. and ME four adults, 2 kids in car seats and all the accompanying luggage, etc, in comfort.

Reliable old Quest

My '94 Quest is a workhorse. It has 162,000 miles on it, and I use it to commute 25 miles each way to work as well as for grocery shopping and just about any light-hauling chore that comes up. After 10 years, the body is still in good shape, with no rust. I had the customary problem with the exhaust manifold bolts breaking. Tipped off that Nissan might help me, I tried to get them to pay for it. However, the car already had 145K miles on it, and they said they would give me money toward a new Nissan instead. I Also, the transmission malfunctioned at 5OK miles, but it was covered by the powertrain warranty.

I bought this van in September of 1995. It had 2000 miles on it and was at a Nissan dealer. So this is my 23rd year with this van. Do I need to say more? Excellent product that Nissan put out! Gear shifter and front axle and suspension worked on this year 2018. Still running great!

The engine has always run fine & if you don't mind the power doors locks & windows all getting screwed up, then you won't mind this van. It always runs, it's just not very easy to use becasue one of these accessories is always breaking down. The door locks malfunction in excessive heat.

Bought new. Bequeathed to me by wife last 3 years after return of my 325i to dealer. No cache/status but, could not be happier. Drives, handles, feels like an expensive car; funny, it list for over 27K new in 1994. Add exceptional reliability and adequate space for USA travel w/five comfortably, you have a sleeper. Not rated high by popular evaluation systems, BUT in the real world, simply follow THE BOOK with regard to maintenance, and this old tried and true Maxima engine and drive train will give you at least 250k of pleasant memories and reasonable long- term ownership costs.

A Fantastic Minivan

The Quest is really a sedan with some extra space. Even after 110k miles the V6 is smooth & potent once revved up. It has little body lean & still rides nicely. The back can get bouncy when lightly loaded. The interior design is incredibly easy to configure for people or cargo hauling & has some nice creature comforts with great ergonomics. This Quest has been a faithful everyday driver abused with everything from freeway commutes to shuttling kids to road trips. I recommend the Quest to anyone looking for a minivan and will definitely be buying another one when this one dies on me. That’ll be a while since it's pretty darn reliable.

I bought this car new for my family and it certainly has served us well. Has pep, runs smoothly and quietly for many years now. Only problems seem to be electric. Our fan went out on the heater/air cond and no one seems to be able to fix it without getting into an unlimited search by the mechanic, while you are paying 90 dollars an hour. I stopped after 3 hours and now we live with it the way it is. I intend to try for 200 thou on this car...that is my quest for this Quest. It ain't exactly the grooviest car ever, but it has given my more miles than any other car I've driven in the past 50 years so that is something I am grateful for.

Issues: We have had the usual things like timing belts and fan belts, brakes, water pumps replaced. We have also had to replace the front axel twice(cv joint issue) and the struts. The rear a/c has gone out twice. The rear wiper is demon possessed and works on its on -from time to time (removing the fuse is the only way to cut it off at times.) The drawer under the front passenger seat came off the track and became wedged. Raw gasoline smell in cabin of van. For the most part this vehicle has served us well and have contemplated a new Quest.

No problems in 140,000 miles except for replacement of a water pump, and the usual required maintenance. V-6 3.0L engine has been smooth and doesn't burn a drop of oil.Body is in great shape through 10 salty road winters in Wisconsin.

Think of the Quest as the reliable old horse of the fabled Western hero. That's the kind of dependable, trustworthy service I have enjoyed with the Quest. Though it's time for a new car, by choice, not necessity, I will be turning over the reins to my kids, who, with their own attention to caring for this minivan, should be able to take it to 200,000. I love the ride, better than many sedans, and the Maxima engine has plenty of get up and go. I drove a more current one and they've clearly de-tuned the new ones.

266,000 miles and still going. Not much done to it either (front axle twice and pass. seat belt - brakes, plugs, and oil). Admittedly, I don't take very good care of it, but it refuses to die. Still cruises at 75 mph with no problem. 13 years and in the garage just a few times - excellent value for the money.

I recently purchased a used 1994 Nissan Quest from the original owner (my father) and having been driving an SUV for the past 5 years, I can tell you this was a welcome change! The drive is that of a hi priced luxury car with the storage of the minivan. This thing is very smooth and quiet. I give this vehicle an over all rating of 9.0. “Great choice for the former SUV owners”!

I had this van for about 3 years before someone crashed it.....It was an awesome van, with a lot of power under the hood. The color was aquamarine with gold trim and gray interior; again, an awesome combination... Took us up and down California, no problems at all. I am going to buy another one like it! I recommend it! Very safe van!

Wish They Made Them All Like This

We must be living right. We have owned this van for over 8 years and bought it at 100,000mi and to date we have now 242,000 mi and still going strong. We are second owners and we have only needed to replace the A/C, passenger windshield motor and radiator. We also replaced the timing belt b/c our mechanic said we needed to. Everything works on the inside but sometimes the locks seem to have a mind of their own. I wish they made them like they used to. We are looking around for another solid mechanically sound vehicle just in case she gives up the ghost, but as of this writing, no other vehicle has good consumer reviews in the price range we can afford. So we will just keep on driving her.

We have owned this minivan for 7 years and 125,000 miles. It still is as solid as when we bought it. No rattles, unlike our friend's Chrysler Town and Country at 40,000. It handles and brakes well. Has a good ride. It is underpowered, though, so you have to put your foot in it to get going. Only a few problems the whole time-air conditioning failed, and motorized seat belt failed on passenger side. Also, had to replace a radiator. That's it. Everything else runs like new. Just need more room as the kids have grown up. GM minivans have SUBSTANTIALLY more leg room.

I absolutely love this van. We're approaching 200,000 miles and we've only had one major repair (which was covered under warranty). The engine is still strong, the exterior paint is still in great condition, and it still rides smooth after all of these miles (a lot of them on backroads and in the mountains).

My husband and I bought this about 2 years ago when my son was born. We owned a Buick Century and realized that we needed a bigger vehicle, due to having our son and 4 dogs at the time. We bought it with 115k on it and now has close to 136k. We had to get new tires, and replace the sway bar end links and the speed sensor, but that was due to poor maintenance from the prior owner. I love my van and if I could afford a new one I'd buy it in a heartbeat. She was worth EVERY penny I put into her. Extremely reliable vehicle. She's my baby.

The Nissan Quest is by far one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I have about 125000 miles on mine now. It has served our purpose very well. In every aspect you can imagine. The only reason I’m looking for something different is because I have three boys, and it is just a little small for a family of five.
