This Nissan is tops in quality inside and out. The performance ranks high with its new transmission and car like handling. Passengers of all sizes will appreciate its room and comfort. We compared a lot of SUV's and the Nissan Murano bested them all.

Safe in the Lap of Luxury

Purchased a Murano SE 2 weeks ago and Edmunds.com helped so much in our research...thank you! First made a list of what we needed, the plushness of the Murano was a plus. Graduating from a van we test drove (that I recall) Pilot, CRV, Rav, and Pathfinder and inspected many others. Focused on the Pilot then we drove the Murano and fell in love with fully loaded SE (didn't want DVD or GIS). Pricing (asked to see dealers invoice), mpg, safety & smooth/solid ride of this dream contributed to our purchase decision. It's smooth rounded exterior is a pleasure to run a shammy over, no crevices for grit to settle in.

My new nissan murano is more than expected! I chose this new vehilce over the lexus rx300 and the mercedes ml320. It is truly in the luxury class. The salesperson was so adamant about test driving it and once I drove it, everything he said about it was absolutely correct. Nissan has out done themselves with the Murano!

This car is a wonderful car. Compaired to all the other cars in its class, the Murano has all the added features to a car in its standard model that one could get if they were to upgrade another car, S.U.V. or truck. The standard features on this car is more than enough for me. However if you would like to really be spoiled than you could spend the extra money and really live it up. The handling of this car is just as great. As well as the pick up this vehicle delivers. All in all, the Murano is a very nice car and I have no regrets about buying one.

Shopped Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander before purchasing Murano. The test drive won me over. If your looking for the same old, same old then stick with Honda and Toyota. If your looking for a new stylish design with all the right eronomics, this is the vehicle. Built on the Altima platform, plenty of safety features.

i used to rent a volvo 2000 s80, it's 15000$ higher priced than the murano i rented next. the murano gave me a much better feel of the road, and has brakes control and stability control, which were not in the s80. plus for our canadian winter it is a 4wd. only a little less acceleration and a little more fuel conaommation. the volvo had good seats, so does the murano. all in all, for 15000$ (canadian) less it is a very good deal. thanks nissan

Well, its a great substitute for a station wagon. The CVT takes some getting use to. It's a lot peppier in Ds mode. Although, I'd rather have a regular automatic and more road feel. Fits in parking spaces, carries people, has so-so styling and the dealers are a mixed bag. I don't know, I get the feeling they could have done better.

The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) in the Murano has got to be driven to be appreciated. You can put it on cruise, go up and down hills and never feel the regular "shift shock" we've become accustomed to in regular 4 or 5 gear automatic transmissions. This baby is smoooooth. My kids used to argue about who got to ride up front... not anymore! The person in the back is cruising with lots of room thanks to the ample roominess of the back seat and the reclining feature of the back seat! This car is a joy to drive... the horsepower is responsive with acceleration from take-off to mid- range torque already at cruising speed.

Bad Vibrations Skewing Review

The Murano has been perfect for our needs. Good style, great ride, great performance and good use of interior space. It provided all our one car family requirements (retired). We are not getting advertised gas mileage but will give it some time. Had to have a computer chip replaced after 200 miles to fix non working interior lights. Have a real concern about tremendous vibration and noise in car when back windows are open. Scared the devil out of us. Vehicle felt like back end was going to break away at 40+ MPH. Plan on taking this up with Nissan. Cannot keeo vehicle if not corrected.

I test drove virtually every possible performance wagon, crossover, and suv on the market today. All of them had something going for them but the best compromise for the money was the Murano ( bar none). I knew when I test drove it that I had finally found a perfect blend of performance, comfort, practicality, mileage, safety, and affordability. Very nice ride, super comfy seats, nice styling, smooth powerful engine. Mileage has been ~20mpg during the break-in period in very cold weather.

SE Murano AWD

2003 Nissan Murano SE AWD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)

Overall very pleased. AWD eliminates tourque steer and seems more stable, but is a tad slower than FWD . This is the SE and the ride is firm but not uncomfortable. Lots of fun on twisty roads with good steering feedback and excellent tracking. Pushed hard, you will get some understeer before the limit. Great Brakes. The CVT tranny takes getting used to, but I am learning to like it, especially going up hills at 70 to 80 MPH. Gas milage has averaged about 20MPG so far with 50/50 city/hiway. This should improve with break-in. Seats are comfortable, lots of room for my German Shephard in the back, good visability, excellent build quality and paint.

Inspite of Nissan's need to take marketing lessons from Kia, I purchased this Murano for it's uniqueness of styling in the market. Quality and features seems fantastic to this point. Room GALORE! 5 people in total comfort. No complaints to date. Only frustration was lack of info from Nissan. I had no idea what colors/features were available...and dealers were getting shipments! Brochures not yet out. Thank God for Edmunds!

After driving my Murano through the mountains of Colorado during the summer, I was anxious to see how comfortable it would be on a long road trip. Driving through the mountains was fun as it held the curves with very little or no sway at high speeds. I took a 2600 mile round trip through Texas and was suprised at the comfort for all passengers and also at the good gas mileage.

I was in the market for a SUV since my wife will be expecting our first baby. I've searched and checked with a lot of magazines about SUV's and thier reviews, but after taking a test drive and looking in depth on the Murano, I found a perfect SUV that had everything to offer and then some. The ride quality, gas milage, space and don't forget about the desing. Every new technology was put into this SUV and from the exterior design, the Murano will not go out of style even after 6 to 10 years from now.

I test drove Volswagon Taureg, Hyundi Santa Fe, Volvo XC-90. Murano was more stable, better gas mileage, better looking, better ride, and less expensive than every other vehicle except the Santa Fe(note to get a loaded out Santa Fe, you must pay close to $28,000). I paid 32000 with remote start, sunroof, Bose 6 CD player, custom calfskin.

I have driven Nissans for almost 20 years, my last one being a Pathfinder that I had for four years. This is easily the best Nissan I have ever had. It handles remarkably, and seems very nimble. The fuel economy is great. At 6'4" I really appreciate the amount of room for the driver and passenger. There is still plenty of room in the back too. This is one fun ride.

Supremely comfortable, one of very few vehicles where I can fully extend my very long legs. Very spacious. Leather seats offer great comfort. Amber gauges recall the magical glow of antique radio dials, while still high tech and futuristic. Engine is incredibly strong and smooth. Shiftless transmission is a pleasure. Mileage is great while commuting, but disappointing on long trips....like overdrive gearing was forgotten. Concerns...I hit a bump last week, and the alternator went out. Overall, the package rates as best vehicle I ever owned. Highlander rides better, but otherwise can't compare. Braking, handling and engine have to be tops in class.

I have only had my Murano for 10 days, but it is one of the best cars I have had. Comfort is important for me because I have had 4 back surgeries, and I find it very comfortable. I love the exterior styling, and the responsiveness of this vehicle. It is luxurious, attractive and functional, and has a bit of the old "muscle car" attitude. If it were a dance, it would be a Tango, smooth, sexy, powerful.

I have no regrets about it. The car has been great on gas mileage. The seats are very comfortable. This car has so many options available. My only problem is dealing with the dealer. I feel that the sales people were not throughly trained on every aspect of this vehicle. I would definitly recommend this vehicle 100 times over!

I HAVE OWNED MY MURANO FOR FIVE MONTHS NOW, AND I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THE OVER- ALL PERFORMANCE OF THIS VEHICLE. IT'S FUN TO DRIVE AND GREAT TO LOOK AT BOTH INSIDE AND OUT. I WISH THE ENGINE COULD BE MORE QUITE ON UPHILL WHEN ACCELERATING. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED OCCASSIONALLY A SLIGHT RATTLING NOISE FROM DRIVER-SIDE DOOR PANEL AND ABOVE THE GLOVE BOX AT HIGH SPEED IF THE ROAD A LITTLE BUMPY . WILL BRING BACK TO DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT. DESPITE THESE MINOR ISSUES, IT'S A SUV DESERVES HIGH MARKS.

Have spent the last month looking at a wide range of vehicles; I test drove the Highlander, RX300, BMW X5, Acura MDX, Honda Pilot and Volvo XC90. This car was really amzingly well put together and the size was really what I was looking for as opposed to the larger vehicles that I had driven. The handling is better than the Lexus and close to the Bimmer in my mind. Havent been in snow but anticipate a good safe ride. Interior is well appointed and seats are very comfortable. DVD navigation system is a hoot and prob more helpful than I initially anticipated. Rear seats are fine. 3 adults would be a bit tight.

I love the CVT, super smooth, esp. climbing steep grades. you gotta go try some mountain driving! Nissan did everything right on this vehicle. Yeah, they're still my favorite!

I looked at virtually every SUV on the market and this one is the best combination of style and performance I found. It came down to a Honda Pilot (a wonderful SUV) and the Murano and while both offer substance, the Murano had style. It is comfortable, powerful, and in the SE trim eats up corners and handles nimbly around town. The price is also very reasonable considering all of the features and options.

Drives wonderfully but there are a few annoyances: a rattle in the backseat somewhere that the dealership is having a hard time pinpointing--have had to take it 4 times and it's still not fixed; headlights look like they stairstep up to the right, as if they were stalled unevenly, but the dealership says they are all like that?; also, brakes squeal when putting the car into reverse, and again, the dealership claimed to have fixed the problem by cleaning off "the glaze" but the problem has not gone away.

Did I say roomy. Plenty of room front and back. The back seats recline giving more comfort and,as my girlfriend and I found out, plenty of room for plenty of positions. FUN!
