The Future Becomes Today's Beautiful Rea
It didn't take me long to get this vehicle. I admit I was first impressed by it's fresh, unique look when I first saw it in the fall of 2002. But boy, was I even more impressed when I test drove it. My wife was too, and she said that I deserved to have one. I love my wife! Very crisp to handle on the road complemented with a smooth but powerful ride. Acceleration is robust but gentle. I would say has luxurious space for average-sized people.
After sales service
C'mon Nissan I thought by now you could design window seals that don't squeak. You also need to offer a 4 year warranty and shake your dealerships into providing better service. You designed a great vehicle let's get the squeaks out and don't lose face by providing lowsy after sales service.

Excellent SUV and performance
Like the Rock... powerful engine.. wonderful transmission... and the most and stiff Steering wheel that give you the feeling of the sports cars, beleive me the stiff steering wheel is much more better than the light one much more better to handle.
an amazing car/SUV
Just got my silver Murano, and loving it a lot. The power and smoothness of the engine is most impressive. The built quality is high too in my opinion. A nice crossover between a car and an SUV. Way to go, Nissan.
BEST SUV
STYLING IS EXCELLENT.(IT IS A REAL HEAD TURNER ANYWHERE YOU GO) RIDE IS SUPER .FUEL ECONOMY IS ACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS VEHICLE TO ANYONE. I HAVE HAD PEOPLE THAT OWN THE LEXUS SUV SAY THAT THEY WISH THEY HAD KNOWN OF THE MURANO FIRST BEFORE BUYING.
Murano Observations after One Month
Absolutely love it. Replaced the trusty 1997 Toy RAV4 with this and never looked back. Great handling. Good hwy power. Lots of room. Great sound system. Would recommend it to anyone, especially in the Pearl White color.I have a BMW X5 and the Murano handles very similar, has about the same power and has much more creature comforts than the X5 for $10,000 less!!
Highly recommended!
We own this Murano SE for a few months now and we just love it. The build quality is superb, the luxury appointments all one could ask for. The engine is powerful and responsive, the unique seamless transmission smooth as could be. It's a joy to drive. Even though this is my wife's car (so to speak) and my car is a BMW Z3, I thoroughly enjoy driving this wonderful car. I can't really judge the "reliability" because we haven't owned it long enough, but based on the quality we've observed so far, we expect the best.
The
Have owned for 6 weeks. Use for commuting to work, and have taken it on two trips (more than 800 miles round trip). Great performer, many thoughtful amenities, good gas mileage. Handles and rides like a car, but has the convenience and storage of an SUV (storage compares favorably to Explorer which we also own). Great features for the price, especially compared to crossovers from Lexus, Infiniti, Chrysler, Mercedes and BMW. (We looked at all of these before buying the Murano.) Nissan has always has good reliability, as far as we are concerned. (Owned a Pathfinder for 10 years and had no problems. Nissan reliability has also been highly rated by Consumer Reports.)
Why do I hate this car?
I bought this car because I thought (and still think) it is beautiful. There are, however, any number of problems I'm having that make it very unpleasant to use. 1)its probably just me but I can't get comfortable in the driver's seat; 2) I ordered and paid for the roof rack in January and it still isn't available; 3) cup holders are very poor; 4) no rear light in the cargo area; 5)rear cup holder is on the floor, perfectly positioned to get kicked open every time someone sits there. Of all these, not being able to get comfortable in the driver's seat is by far the worst.
Former Pathfinder Owner
The TV ads gave me the impression that this was a much smaller vehicle.A visit to the dealer prompted a test drive that resulted in a purchase.Compared to my Pathfinder the Murano has more interior space. It has the power and handling of a performance car.The fit and finish is what I expected...EXCELLENT
overall good looking and great car
The Nissan Murano is the best looking, fun to drive car i have ever owned. The specific way it is desighned cuaght my eye right away. The exterior is fabulous and it makes me want to get on the road. The spacious interior is great for having children in the back.ALOT of leg room. Overall i would request the Murano BUT i hope the Tires hold up!!!!!!!
Probably the best vehicle out there
I would never have bought an suv but the transmission, the ride & vehicle itself made me fall in love instantly. I have never questioned nissan's reliability & more than anything just the strong but gentle feel of the vehicle made me weak to my knees. I would definately recommend this vehicle to any car & suv buyer as the best out there & im proud of myself as i saved 15000$ as i nearly bought a Lexus 330 till someone drove up in that dealership with the murano. call it destiny call it love at first sight but dont forget to wave when you see my pewter murano cruising down the road & it says i love my nissan
They built the better mousetrap
By far the safest, smartest, and fastest vehicle I have ever owned. My sense of well-being and safety when operating my Murano has never left me since my first test drive. Owning one means being prepared to describe to curious citizens just how beautiful of a car it is, and they do asked every time I'm stopped somewhere.
I studied the rest and bought the best!
Researched several SUV's including Lexus, Acura, BMW, Honda, Pacifica, etc. Found the Murano offers all that I want in a more spacious vehicle with a price tag $$ less than all others I considered. Traded in LS400 so my expectations were very high. I couldn't be happier with performance of engine and transmission. Love the extra room, styling, handling, comfort, and ammenities in Murano. Couldn't justify $9,000 difference for Lexus RX330. Nissan has a winner here---recommend highly!!
Dump the vans, try a Murano
Two days old today, and we can't stop driving this Murano. Dealership did a good job, we stressed over buying a Pilot or Murano, and went for the available (better) vehicle. When is Honda going to learn?
Awesome machine
My fiancee and I just bought the vehicle three weeks ago. We absolutely love it. It has plenty of room for us and a kid. The power on it is more than enough. The transmission is probably the best feature as it makes the vehicle ride smoothe.
This is a BAAAAD beast!
I bought my Murano after more research and consideration than should be legal. I drove them ALL (Infiniti FX and QX4, Lexus,Pathfinder and Rover to name only a few). This car is HOT. The comfort level is awesome (had a Lincoln Mark VIII) and I'm as happy with it as can be. Everything is high quality, from my black leather seats to the adjustable pedals and memory seating. This puppy MOVES, and a Sunday drive through windy roads with the sunroof open is equal to nothing I can think of.
Very Happy
I have had my Murano for 2 weeks now and I love it. It is all that I thought it would be. I hope that it holds up the way I think it will :)
Murano Houston
The Nissan Murano is a utility vehicle with the heart and performance of a sports car. I have been driving vans and SUVs for the past 10 years. This vehicle has been the most fun to drive, but it still has all the utility capacity I will ever need. So far at 3,000 miles I have not experienced any service problems. It holds the road, the cvt transmission gives you a smooth quick acceleration without shift points. It just goes!
Nice Nice
Great Car...SUV...whatever it is. My wife and I have to 'Paper/Rock/Scissors to decide who gets to drive it each time! Beautiful ride, great handling, could be better on gas...but it's still worth the drive. I'm 6'7 and I love the headroom and legroom. The rear seating actually works for me as well! CVT is a sweet idea. Definitely a headturner!
Nissan Murano - Refined Car
I have had my Murano for three weeks now and I totally love it. Love everything about this car, the interior build is of nice quality, the exterior is sharp looking too - head turner! It's got a smooth ride, wouldn't know you are in an USV. Overall, good car!
Fun to Own and Drive
This vehicle attracts a lot of admirers where ever I take it. It a fun vehicle to drive although uneven pavement can make the ride bouncy. On a recent trip I averaged 20.1 miles/gallon, which is less than I expected. (I have driven Maximas for the past 12 years - I hope the Murano is as reliable as the Maximas were.)I seriously considered a Honda Pilot, but, to me, the Murano has more comfortable seats, more legroom for rear passengers, and a much zipper engine. When sitting side by side, the Murano sure outclassed the Pilot. The Pilot is rather bland all around.
You Can't Go Wrong
This car is a bargain compared to Acura MDX, Honda Pilot, Lexus RX330. It's comfortable, has acceleration, maneuverability, convenient/easy to operate interior gadgets(tailgate, seats, etc), has a phenomenal Bose radio, and the styling is a head turner. Handles like a car and is built solid. Fuel use: 19mph in gross rush hour traffic (like average speed of only 27 mph per week (that's not a misprint). Nav system is tremendous convenience. It has a traffic avoidance feature that helps getting around wicked traffic jams. It's easy to use. Caution: If you're looking for a real offroad capability...don't buy a Murano. Other than that...this car is an ace.
Fun Ride
I bought my Murano for my wife at the end of April, and we have been enjoying this vehicle ever since. Fun to drive, alot of power, and the CVT transmission is great. You don't even feel the car shift. Only problem is the window's rattle going over pumps. Only seems to happen when the windows are down 1/4 to 1/2 the way down.
Murano Vapor Trail
This vehicle does exactly what I need. Excellent seating, great visibility with its large windshield, rapid performance, pleasent Bose sound system and 'stop on a dime' brakes. Great gas milage and smooth, turbine like power delivery. The controls are intutive to use and I love the cell phone compartment. Easy entry into the rear seats which fold flat when down and recline when up. Spacious cargo area with many nooks and crannies for storage. Real aluminum trim pieces. Solid, quality feel to the whole vehicle. This car is my station wagon, Explorer and Lexus in one.
2003 Murano SE
Drove many different vehicles before chosing the Murano. From the styling to the little subtlties of the interior, Nissan has a winner. The SUV is very sporty in its handling yet retains a hint of the 'truck'. Would recommend it for somebody looking for more than the conservative offerings from Honda or Toyota.
excelent
excelent auto.i dont have any complaints .
2003 Murano SE HOT!!!
I picked up my 2003 Murano on 7/3/2003 and put close to 1000 miles on it over the July 4th Weekend This is my first truck and I'm totally impressed with it. I've driven the Ford Explorer & Toyota 4Runner the ride of the Murano is in a class by itself. The CVT transmisson always seems to be in the correct (range/gear) While cursing on the highway at 65mph the RPM's were just below 2K on level ground. The handling while not 100% car like due to the height is excellent. Even highway driving with 5 passengers and luggage in the rear the truck moved effortlessly. The 245 HP powerplant always has power to spare for passing and climbing hills.
It's got it all
Really an amazing vehicle. Nissan gets it! The car has a great ride (love the CVT), every convenience built in, an awesome stereo, great styling, decent gas mileage for an SUV, very roomy, sunroof, AWD, better than average horsepower, and all at a reasonable price for what you get. I've driven BMW's before this car. Why bother paying the extra $ unless status in your neighborhood means that much to you! The navigation system is pretty cool too.
A lemon
2003 Murano has had nothing but problems. Have replaced hatchback lock, rear wiper motor/blade, transmission, radiator, headlight, transfer case for a total of $6,000. The transmission was still under warranty. If it hadn't, that would have been another $4,000. Powertrain only warrantied to 60,000 so transfer case cost me $3,700. Nissan and dealership refused any assistance on repair cost despite well-documented history of these known problems for this model year. Dealer told me I should have bought the extended warranty when it was offered to me.
Love the vehicle
I have loved this SUV. I have owned the Quest van previously and also had good experiences with these cars. My vehicle has 80000 miles and has recently had the transmission replaced. Also had the gas cap issue.
5 years later
This car has been great for the past 5 years. It's been solid and has never needed any major fixes. It's always been very usable in the real world, from loading it full of items for transportation to driving around a full family of 5. With a black on black color with 22" black rims the car looks great even to this day. When driving around town it has always had solid pick up and the CVT is something that works seamlessly. You start to really love the gear changing without feeling it happening. In the last year or so I was rear ended. The car stood like a champ and only needed minor repairs to the muffler. Otherwise the bumper was perfectly fine. It's been a great car.
transmission and catalytic system : disaster ,
nissan auto and dealers should apologize for this sorry vehicle and fix it for free. a massive recall shell take place

CVT
The transmission went out on our murano at 100,000 miles. Just as the warranty was up. we had to pay $6,000 to replace it and Nissan would not help us in any way. What I am disgusted by is the nonsupport that we received from Nissan. I've written several letters only to be ignored or told to send my inquiries elsewhere. I will never! purchase another nissan and have already gotten several of our friends to back out of purchasing a nissan. Prior to this, the cat. convertor went out. Luckily this was still under warranty. Since then, we've had a bearing go out in a tire and one of the arms (shocks?) went out-total $1,000. this is an unreliable vehicle for obvious reasons.
Over Rated Murano
This will we the last Nissan product I ever buy. The Murano is the most over rated car I have ever owned. For the price I payed, I am disgusted with the quality of the car. I care for it well and it's still falling apart! I should have bought a Chevy Tahoe! 1. Failed CVT $6200. 2. Failed door solenoids $450. 3. Leakey sunroof. 4. Bose CD player failed. 5. Power seats have back lash in gear drive. 6. Cup holder arms broke with little pressure. 7. Failed CATYLITIC converter & O2 sensors $1050. 8. Valve cover PCV system clogged $450. 9. Oil leaks & coolant leaks. All of this and I change the oil every 3000 miles. I am a mechanical engineer and check every thing weekly.
Best Urban SUV
Overall excellant rating. Features and benefits vs price are one of the best.
Before you buy, read this! Trust me!
Before you buy the Murano, test drive it and do this test! I guarantee you probably will think twice about buying the Murano. Go with the salesman and before starting out, roll down the back two windows, all the way down, leaving the front windows and the sunroof CLOSED. Drive past 35mph and LISTEN!!!! What you'll experience is the worse case of in-cabin turbulence meaning your eardrums feel like they're going to explode.
