Used 1998 Nissan Maxima Sedan Consumer Reviews
Superiority Before It's Time
I bought this car for $3000 with 160K miles. At first I didn't know what to expect out of this car. I had just sold my 2001 Acura Cl Type-S, due to transmission problems made by the manufacturer. After 1 week of being in this car, I was completely shocked that my Acura only had a few things that the Nissan did not. This Nissan has it all, power, comfort, and plenty of room. I stand 6"2 and there was still room behind my seat. This car is a solid driver, refilled every oil and fluid as soon as I got it and car has never gave me a problem. It rides extremely smooth. It simple has everything I need. 22 MPG city/ 28 MPG highway, always used 91 Premium Gas.
i do not like it
my first car was a 98 maxima GLE, not a big fan. it had trans problems every 2 or three years. my ford now is the best car i have ever had. still have that maxima for some reason i can't throw it away
Masterpiece.. Best in it's class..
I bought this car with 55,000 miles in 2004. I now have 112,000 in 2008. Rock solid performance from this vehicle. No major mechanical problems to date. I will take this Maxima to its grave. This car will take better care of you than your own mama! Get the fully loaded model and drive it as far as you can. I do regret not getting the leather, sunroof, woodgrain, and digital ac. But those upgrades are all optional.
fun, reliable car
This is my first Maxima and I would definitely buy another. The SE model is a really fun, sporty car with great road-hugging performance, especially with the Goodyear Eagle tires we have (our second set). I like the '98 design better than some of the newer models. The sound system is wonderful and reliability has been fantastic (current mileage 60,000). My daughter drives it mostly now and I feel confident the vehicle will operate flawlessly. She won't turn loose of it.
Excellent Daily Driver
I appreciate the sporty feel that the car gives you eventhough it's a four door sport sedan which feels as quick, nimble and agile as some two door coupes onthe market today. I'm not as tall as many men, but extremely wide across my shoulders. This car seememd to support my wide frame with its wide and supportive seats, rather than having my shoulders sitting out without any support like many other vehicles in its class. The interior design of the controls is somewhat bland, but all and all, is very easy to access while driving.
