I have a dark green maxima. I really love my car but it keeps presenting me with problems. One thing I really hate that ive found on at least 2 other maximas is that the back of the car always sways from side to side when I hit a bump. I don't like other people driving it because I don't know if they know how to handle it. I also added green lights in the footwell and they look Nice.

I've had my MAX since January 2000. It is a vehicle well worth buying. I've changed the oil, spark plugs, knock sensor, brakes, and timing belt. Unbelievable how I don't now the inside of dealership. Wish 2004 Max generation family had better reviews because I will stick with Nissan, just think about getting the Q45. I have 155,000 miles now and still runs almost as good as the day I bought it with 22,000 miles on it. I highly advise this car to anyone.

Most bang for the buck

I've owned the car for 2 years and put on 40,000 kms in that time. The best car i've owned. The HP and torque make for snappy performance and the interior is luxurious and comfortable. The driver side airbag module was replaced under warranty (~$500 CAD), and the alternator was replaced under a recall. Other than that I haven't been to the dealership for anything.

I've had to cars in my life. My 2 car ownership history spans from 1994 to present (2008). I had a 1988 Acura legend that I bought in '94 with 60000 miles. I got the '98 Max in Nov 99 with 30k in mileage. I'm at 253k now in June '08. No major issues. Periodic tune-ups and regular oil, trans fluid and coolant changes. A great car.

Rock Solid Fun

This is actually my second Maxima and I am a true believer. Having owned Toyotas and Hondas which are also great, these are the best sedans made. The style is attractive and fresh despite its age (10 years)! It has great acceleration and spunk, but I average an easy 25+ mpg. in combination driving. After two years and nearly 35k miles, I have only replaced the alternator, tires and oil. The interior is plush and refined, but can handle kids, spills and mud always cleaning nicely. The engine and transmission show no signs of slowing down, and I have no strange clanging noises or tired groans. The body refuses rust and the doors still thump shut like new. I just could not be more pleased.
