Nissan Altima 2008 2.5S (Manual Transmission)
Fantastic car, sold at 190K with plenty of life in original drivetrain. If you can get a manual transmission, go for it. These are rear with manual transmission but are excellent on fuel and reliability.

Will Never Buy the CVT Transmission again
I had a 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL that I loved i actually sold it before i would have to my nephew who needed a helping hand. Hated to get rid of it. I replaced it with the 2008 Atlima of the same trim. At that time i didn't know much about the CVT transmisson. Boy have i been dissapointed!! The CVT Transmission fails miserably to deliver the engine power to the road. It Revs up high and doesn't really do much. I just turned over 155,000 miles which for a Nissan should stille be in its childhood. Engine is still solid, i have nothing bad to say about the engine other than the mileage isn't that great 26 or so at best combined between city and hwy...could be better for a 4 cyl. So here is the bad news. At 155,000 i just spent $3500 to put a new transmission in it...that's right one day while driving it just stopped! Blown CVT!! Cannot be repaired, only replaced. After doing some research i have learned that this is par for the course. Some have blown as early as 20,000 miles (in Fairness Nissan has stood behind those), but most blow before 180,000. Extended warranty ran out after 120,000 and at 155,000...gone! For the record, my nephew is still driving the 2003, it has 230,000 miles on it and both the engine and tranny (traditional transmission) are still running strong! Never again will i buy a Nissan!! The CVT is the worst thing to happen to cars!!

This car is awesome
altima issues
Any issues that I have have with my 2009 Altima i just had to google and found them very quickly online. Three issues, Push start, transmission and leak in the moon roof all were listed as a problem. Nissan covered all repairs except for the moonroof. Disappointing because only had 36000 miles as of 2012 and bought the car based on consumer reports.
Most Uncomfortable seats ever
I have a 2008 Altima SE V6 and this is by far the most uncomfortable seats I have ever had. I downsized from a 2007 Infiniti M35 those seats were OK. Before I bought the Altima I had read several posts in Edmunds about uncomfortable seats on long drives and I should have listened better. It only takes 5 minutes and my back starts hurting. I do have back problems but this pain is different. It feels like there is no support in some areas especially left side. I have bought padded lumbar cushions but it did not help much. I would invest in custom seats if it would help but if not I am going take loss and get another car but what car in this class has superior comfort?
