Love My New Altima Hybrid
This car is exactly what I was looking for -- great mileage, exceptional styling, sporty/fun to drive, reliable, excellent value.
6 good years
Six years, 150K miles and I still love my car. I got rear-ended the other day. Looking at the damage, you'd think I'd be hurt, but I'm not. I'm hoping the insurance company doesn't total my car. You'd think I'd be hoping for it, but at 150K miles, my car showed no signs of letting up. Drives well. Safe. Economical. Good looking. Not a ton of trunk space in a hybrid, but I used the heck out of mine with no problems.

Understated Performance
While not a BMW performer, the Altima Hybrid is an understated performer, outclassing the competition by far. I test drove every hybrid to include Lexus and dollar for dollar this car is totally a winner. Fusion has comparable interior space and looks, but the auto doesn't match the pick-up of Altima. Forget Prius and Insight, they are not in this class, ride or pick-up. The Altima rides very smoothly and has the feel of a much larger auto with the economy that tells you why you got into the vehicle in the first place. Just test it and see. There could be a little more room in the trunk, but two or three golf bags can fit easily. A family might want to consider suitcase size.
Love it
This was my first Nissan and hybrid. The car is a pleasure to drive. Has room for three grand children in the back seat and with the four door model can enter and exit easily. I am glad I did not buy an SUV instead. Getting 37 to 39 mpg ans saving every day.
Never mind hybrid
I drive this as a company vehicle. Nissan spec 35MPG city has to happen yet. I drive it very gently and it gets around 25MPG when cold. When driving in cold weather, it takes around 10 miles of driving before the vehicle starts going in EV mode. Once the EV mode starts working, MPG get better, around 31MPG. Engine restarts are very noticeable with some hesitation. For those reasons I would never buy this as personal vehicle as the gas sevings are marginal and do not justify the extra sticker price and possible problems associated with extra technology. Go with the 2.5 gas instead.
Peppiest and nices looking of the Hybrid
This is an early review so I'll amend it later if anything changes. Like the previous reviewer, I was looking at the Milan/Fusion hybrids (other models are not practical for New England driving, in my opinion) and was most tempted by the superior gas mileage (and in my state, sales tax is waived for vehicle getting over 40mpg). Not something to off-handedly dismiss. HOWEVER, the pickup and styling of this care just smokes the Fusion/Milan. Although I'm doing this mostly for environmental concerns; I still care about aesthetics. My model is fully loaded.
A Great Car!
I purchased the 2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid as a replacement for a 2004 Toyota Prius. While the Nissan doesn't get the fuel economy of the Prius (then again what does?), it outshines the Prius in every other area. I purchased it fully loaded, but then again, I didn't have much of a choice as one must purchase options in big packages in order to get the ones that you really want. Not the best way to package options to be sure... Overall, it drives very well, and inspires confidence around corners and accelerates well to get on a highway. I would certainly recommend this car to a friend as it combines good fuel economy (I've averaged 35 so far), with get-up-and-go!
Altima Hybrid better than Camry Hybrid
The 2010 Altima Hybrid drives like a real car (198 hp tend to do that) without the hybrid sluggishness or hesitation. I also test drove a 2010 Camry Hybrid and was disappointed. Its sluggish acceleration, noticeable interaction between the gasoline and electric motor and cheap interior doomed a purchase I was sold on by my research. Toyota has been slipping for about 5 years now but this was a surprise. Then I decided to try the 2010 Altima Hybrid, loved it and bought it. The two cars have identical hybrid technology, except the electric motor and batteries are Nissan's. The Altima's 2.5L engine is also superior to the aging 2.4L of the Camry. I gave the Altima a chance and it simply won out.
love my altima!
Bought this at the end of 2010 in order to take advantage of the federal tax write off as well as the Nissan incentives. Financially, it was a great deal as we achieved a savings of $10k. Plus, I love these cars. The last time I bought a brand new car was my 1992 Nissan Altima which was incredibly reliable and fun to drive. I have driven numerous other cars since then, but getting this one was like getting "back in the saddle" so to speak. Love my car!

Great. Car. Great Value. I got a fully loaded Altima MSRP 34,910 for 31,100. $500 Cash back, 0.9%, and $2350 tax credit. Even though the Ford Fusion gets better gas mileage, you can't compare the value. You just can't. Fords Sync system is cooler, but not worth the money you could be saving. All I can tell you is, NO regrets. None. Best value and fun for your money. Nissan also Offers a 8 year / 150,000 mile warranty bumper to bumper warranty. I got mine for $2,100. That made a huge difference. Think about that warranty...it's an excellent deal!
An Understated Hybrid
Purchased 12/16/2009, now has 4800 miles. Love the quiet, fuel savings and that I'm not polluting when at traffic lights, slow traffic or drive- throughs. It is fun to watch the MPG go up, when non-hybrids MPG's are going down. At the time, Nissan was the only one which qualified for Federal Tax Rebates. It has all the options except Navigation, including leather. A NUVI is a good substitute, still I would have liked in dash navigation.
Great Car
Just purchased this weekend and first tank I'm getting 32 MPG. The transition from EV to Gas is rather seamless. Don't get fooled on performance, while a hybrid it still has plenty of power. With Nissan's 4k rebate it was too good to pass up.
Thoroughly Satisfied
I have had this car for 9 days. I am thoroughly satisfied to say the least. My first tank of gas lasted 651 miles and I got 37.1 MPG. I would characterize my driving style this 1st week at light to light-moderate. With moderate driving I would expect more like 33-35MPG, excellent for a car this size. Last car was an '08 Sentra. No problems and it had 63,000 miles. I upgraded due to 4K Nissan cash back and 2,350 federal tax cred on the hybrid. Comparing this car to the Sentra is almost pointless. Sentra was high revving with the CVT and a bit small for me. The Altima is far more comfortable and gets up and performs with ease. I expect reliability on par with the Sentra.
2010 Hybrid Altima for 13K below MSRP
Bought fully equipped 2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid (MSRP $34,940) for 13K below sticker price including Nissan rebate, dealer rebate and tax credit. Great price for the set of features with 198 hp hybrid vehicle. Ride is smooth and the gas/EV transition is seamless. Decent leg (44.1/35.8) and head (44.1/35.8) room. Lucky to be in one of the 8 states where Nissan Altima hybrid is currently available.
Well worth it
I got a fully loaded version about a mopnth ago. Gas mileage so far is 33.6 MPG, consistent with what they publish. Having the gas engine cut out at low MPH takes some getting used to but the car still has good acceleration (consider it has more HP than the V4 Altima). Also is a very comfortable ride and looks sharp. Not only is it better for the environment, but the cash rebate makes it comparable in $ to a similarly equipped V4 and with the tax credit of $2,350 and the better fuel efficiency, this seems like a much better deal.
A great model for a keeper
As a previous driver of an 06,07,08 altima I thought it would be time to try the hybrid. I am glad I did! The car is peppier than I thought it would be, the ride quality is somewhat firmer than the other 2.5 sedans. The gas mileage indicates 37.1 mpg overall on the computer average which I have reset initially on fill up @purchase. The transition back and forth from gas/battery is very smooth, a quality I was waiting to experience after reading some reviews. I feel the car will hold its value and the price on memorial day was great. My first Nissan was an 86 maxima then a 2000 max before going to the altima in 06. Who knows I may keep this one awhile!
Passenger seat
Passenger seat with the premium package has only two manual positions. Forward and reclining back. The seat cannot be elevated. It is very low, slightly sloping forward which makes longer rides uncomfortable. It is also inconvenient for shorter people.
Great Car
Bought this car a in July. Averaging about 33 mpg mixed city and highway. Plenty of power, used to have '03 with 4 cylinder and didn't move, complete opposite. Electric to gas transition is barely noticeable. Replaced '06 Acura TL (17 mpg with same driving) and have not regretted it yet.
Looks and feels much more expensive
I wanted a hybrid and the Altima had the best combination of good looks and performance. With the incentives they were offering and the tax deduction they still qualify for it was too good to pass up. It has very nice exterior styling and the interior looks more expensive then it is, especially in the charcoal leather. The fuel economy is very good as long as you don't try to test the strong acceleration at every chance. It really drives and handles very well. Usually the transition to/from the ICE is smooth but sometimes there is some vibration. I do wish it would stay in EV mode more easily. You really need a light touch to keep it there.
10.5 Year's Only 1 Problem
I drove my 2010 for 10.5 Years. Only one problem ever. They hybrid battery went out at 160K. Cost me $2200 to fix. Never had any other problems... Ever. So I bought another Altima!
Great car at a great price
I purchased this car to replace my 2004 Toyota Prius. Now granted I gave up a few things, like space in the back (40 cubic feet in the Prius versus 10 in the Altima)and about 16 MPG on average (50 MPG with the Prius versus 34 in the Altima), but I gained a much more agile and quicker car, not to mention some added luxury. I purchased the 2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid fully loaded and for 30k, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal elsewhere. The automotive press says that the car is noisy, but no more so than any other hybrid, though the regen brakes do make some noise more than the Prius does.
Great gas mileage, comfortable, fun to drive
Car is fun and easy to drive. Terrific gas mileage but still accelerates off the line quickly. You can load many CDs on to the 9.3 GB hard drive Bose stereo system so you do not have to keep them in the car. It looks good and handles well. Plenty of backseat room for adults. Reduced trunk size due to hybrid batteries but still has sufficient space. Nissan warrants the hybrid batteries for 10 years or 100,000 miles which ever comes first. Rear camera makes backing up safe and parallel parking easier with a very clear image and an *accurate* max red line. Lots of features that all work well. Car looks good inside and out.

Well Behaved Car
Cannot complain at all about the durability and low cost of ownership. This 11 year old car now has 135500 miles and the only money we have spent on it have been oil changes, brakes, alignment and tires. The Hybrid system has worked flawlessly for 11 years, too. This was definitely one of the best values I’ve had with a family car.

GET RID OFF IT BY 100k
My car had no oil in the car at 103K and no oil light came on at any time to warn me of low level or anything. A red car light came on to change a part in the car, then realized there was no oil in the car. At 103K engine started making like lose screws noise and shaking...did it from time to time..and at 108K miles it did this noise again and it just broke down. Did not turn back on, and had to tow it. Dealer said needed a hybrid battery and that would have to pay $475, plus diagnostics $125, and that after that they did not know yet what the damage could be until they can turn car on. Could be the engine or transmission. At this point I did not want to spend more money into it, and donated it. Got a new car, not Nissan. Hope you have better luck then I did, cuz I paid too much for time kept!!
