love it!
I bought my 1991 240SX when I graduated from college - 13 years later it is still going strong and still looks great! I have been absolutely amazed at how reliable it has been. We have had no problems with it mechanically other than getting it to pass the bi-annual emissions inspection. The Nissan dealer was aware that this could be tricky and took care of it for me each time.
1991 240sx
Have had this car for almost a year and been in family brand new. The car has been wrecked 4 times 2 major by previous family members and runs great! I had recently been forced into a curb at 50 mph and was still able to drive the car around town. It flat can take a beating. The thing that really hinders the car is its fuel injectors. I am replacing one at least every 2 months.
Corner carver
I highly recommend these cars to anyone looking for a fun, reliable car at a great price. I live in the mountains and enjoy my drive down to work and back up every day. The car handles great and is a joy to push hard through the turns. While the engine could stand a few more HP, the torque is good enough that I can carry plenty of speed without the need to downshift. If you need more power to keep you happy, there is an allmost endless supply of aftermarket parts and turbo kits.
my baby car
Being the original owner, I didn't realize when I bought it what a great car this would be! I love the fact that it still looks great & can turn heads. Regular 3000K oil changes & maintenance = few problems. My mechanic wants to buy this car when/if I sell it.
What a great car!
I'm the second owner of my 1991 240SX LE. I currently have 190000 miles, and the car still has a lot of power, doesn't burn oil, and it still has the orginal clutch! I bought the car as cheap transportation for the summer, but still cannot get myself to part with it.
I can't bring myself to sell it
I've taken my '91 240 from 80K to 300,000km - replaced only the clutch, starter and alternator. I drive it very hard but it runs as smooth as the day I bought it. It runs even better with premium fuel - which is only about 6 tanks per year.
Great car so far!
I love this car! It has 112,000 miles on it and runs like new. Great condition too! It handles great yet runs surprisingly smooth. I've driven sedans bumpier than this car. I love the engine, it sounds great and goes like stink because it's so light and the RWD is a real plus. The only problems are: the a/c selector just above the radio doesn't light up at night, could get better gas mileage, everybody sees you in this car (even police), and (if you have an automatic) the gear selector is right in front of the radio so you have to reach around the lever sometimes to change the station. A very easy car to live with, comfy, loads of room for luggage, and serious street cred!
I Love This Car
Love it, it's dependable and fast
Great little sports car!
Well, I hit 300k miles and the engine finally died (thrown rod). Original transmission still works, no major repairs were ever needed. I replaced the starter several years ago and a couple brake rotors. That's it! very reliable and zippy car. I'm ready to put in a new engine and start all over again!
AWESOME FREAKING CAR
This car is so sweet. I bought it with 150k on it and it has not been giving me problems for the first month that i had it. I bought it with S14 seat and suede door panels and glove box so my interior looks amazing. With my megan racing suspension it handles like a dream. My odometer sticks though so i really don't know how many miles are on the car but its cool KA's are very reliable. Great engine with a great drivetrain and so many mods out there for this car. I love it after owing this for only a month i never want a new car again unless its a 300zx or a skyline.
240SX
This car is great to me I had many cars in my past and I have to say the Nissan 240sx is the best overall great performance I got it with tein superstreet coilovers and I put a catback exhaust a dvd and navigation system it has 18" super advans with falken fk452 the interrior looked Nice but I replaced the two front seats with bride racing seats and takata racing harnest the exterrior looked Nice but iadded on the very sexy orgin body kit the original color was red but I repainted it piano black with 12 coats of clear the car not only looks sexy but drives better than it looks
240sx vs. Saab 9-3 hatchback
I recently test drove a Saab 9-3 4-door, as a potential family car replacement for my beloved 240. Although the Saab was very fast, it did not handle anything like my 240. A sharp swerve reviels a boat-like quality in the Saab vs. a riding-on-rails feel for the 240. The 240 is also much friendlier at highway speeds that the Saab. The 240's hatch is also much more usable (easier to fold-down seats).
Great car , great engine,
I love the Super Hikas Rear Wheel turning, its great taking sharp turns at 70.
This car rocks
I bought this car for the price, but after i drove it, i realized how lucky i was to have bought it. The handling is out of this world, and it never breaks down. My dad has one too and it has never broken down in the 11 years that he has owned it. I love this car and you will too.
Great car
I bought this 240sx for $700, and all it needs was a new engine. I got a 55000 mile engine for it a few days later for another $700 and it has now ran like new. Compared to my Dodge Stealth that I sold, it gets better gas mileage and is much more dependable. I'm looking to put on a body kit and a SR20DET soon...
great car at small price
I've bought this car with 270 clicks on it, it never failed me since then. I love the performance although I am lookin to do engine swap to increase horsepower. Love the design - you wont find anythin as goodlookin for that year for that price. I spent 3,500$ on it and I am lookin to hold this car for a long time. I wasnt surprised to find the same respnonse from other drivers. I love this car.
Sad Day When I sell
This car is awesome. I really need a larger car for my kids, who in a year or two won't fit in the back seat. Unbelievably reliable. Only new brakes, tires and alternator in the 11 years I have owned it.
My beloved
I've owned my 240SX since new and its been a great ride. Fit and finish still feels like new. 200000 miles plus and it doesn't burn oil. Hicas system makes the ride a dream for a car in its class. Lots of fun! One of the only cars in its class that's still a rear wheel drive. Highly recommended.
240sx has a ton of aftermarket upgrade's
Wow, the car is amazing! look great, feels great, sounds great. I just bought the car a few days ago and really didn't know what the car was capiable of.So im on the internet looking for bodykits for the car(im big time in the import scean)so i can hook my car up!. The car, with the bodykits, ONE WORD wwwwwoooooowwwww amazing! and the hp:155 and TQ:160 can be hooked (with aftermarket performance parts)up to be a Hp:5/600 car with TQ:5/580. I'll bet your intrested in the 240sx now!
My dream car!
Iv'e dreamed of owning a 240SX for years, the car was handed to me with no motor, free of charge. $800.00 for a used, low milage, engine. I put the motor in myself, and the car is a dream. She is only a few steps away from an Auto-Cross racer. The handling is superb and the tourqey truck motor pulls things along nicely. Many have complained of it weather (e.g. snow, rain, etc.) but I have had no complaints as long as you respect the abilities of this car. 155 horsepower not enough? Send her to a performace shop for an engine swap (SR20DET, from the Japanese version) and your sitting at a stout 220HP with room to breathe. A deffinit winner!
great but needs work
the car is great. fun sporty and nice on the inside. i think it does lack power and aftermarket parts. other then that its has potential.
It keeps going, and going, and going...
I now have 156,000 miles on my 240SX and it is showing no signs of slowing down. The performance and fuel efficiency is still very good. And reliable? Never replaced the clutch, no problems with the engine, transmission or other major systems. I just got my first tune up a couple months ago! At this point I'm not trading the car in until I reach at least 200,000 miles.
Mixed Reviews
This is a very good car with the exception of the spoiler. Nissan bolted the spoilers on. Therefore, it will rust! Every one that I have seen has rust. I complained to the dealer and they claimed that it was my fault because I would lift up the hatchback by the spoiler. I baby my cars, I would never do that. Even if I did, there is no place on the hatchback to lift it up unless you have very skinny fingers. Other than that, I love my car. It is fun to drive and has been very reliable. I already have 124,000 miles on it and it's still running strong.
Only If It Ran
It did pretty good for about the first 1200mi except a radiotor that went out. Then at 149,595mi the engine blew a rod. So it needs a rebuild and all but the resale on the thing is so good that its still worth something dead in the driveway. Also the leather is fallen apart prior owner didnt care for it I guess.
Fun, quick, and reliable
Fun. Peppy but not fast. Holds a lot of stuff. Good looks. Cheesey pop up lights that break and wobble, cheap interior. Clutch went 5 times in 10 years (ouch in the pocket)@$700 a pop.
Very Happy
Love this car. I have 153K now and the first thing died (starter). Still running the same everything (belts, hoses, pumps, gaskets, CV joints) and even same clutch. The only thing that's been replaced is the brake pads (same roters), battery, tires, exhaust (Borla now), and light bulbs. Great car that if you take care of it, it will pay you back with a fun reliable ride. I've read about trans issues and I believe that's drivers abuse. If you're patient and gentle with the 1st to 2nd shift it will not brake on you and don't slam the doors and the windows will not break too. I'm starting to see a spot of rust in the wheel well and paint is looking faded, but other than that it's great!
Manzo's 240
I love this car! I have had only one problem, the brake master cylinder went out so I had to replace that. I've also started to modify it, full exhaust, intake, sway bars, strut bars, new wheels, took out the bak seats, carbon fiber hood, slotted brakes, lowering springs and a lip kit. Overall the car is great, all my friends want to drive it and I get looks all the time (the good kind)!
Love my little red car
This has been a great car to own. It has been very reliable and it's fun to drive. It handles great and the HICAS system means I can make sharp turns to get into parking spaces. As I've gotten older (and more paranoid), I would appreciate adjustable driver's seat and airbags. I think I'll have trouble replacing this car with anything that's near as fun to drive!
the most reliable car
this car is awesome! at 260,000km and am just replacing the clutch. have a leak in the rear power steering line (its a hicas) but love the car, had a 99 mustang gt and this feels cooler to drive miss the power tho. definitely recommend one.
Going for a million miles
In the 11 years I have owned this car I have only had to replace the exhaust system, tires, and brake pads. The body has held up without rust despite northeast winters. It is closing in on 300000 miles.
