You've Gotta Drive it!
This 2018 MB GLC300 is really awesome. I've put on 4100 miles on varying roads and highways since purchase date of May 7th. I've owned many MB's including S Class Coupes, E Class sedans and Coupes, and the technology is similar to the GLC300. The Driver Assistance Package is a no-brainer add-on you should consider. My highway mileage at 75mph averages around 31mpg. Non highway I get around 25mpg. The 9 gear transmission is smooth and manual intervention using the steering wheel rocker switches really gives you the performance you need for passing. The lighting package with LED variable and adaptable headlights and automatic hi beam monitoring is a must as well. Upgrading the Burmester radio is also suggested, since it comes with a sub woofer and the sound is so much better on the ear than the standard radio. Others have complained about the air noise at high speeds. There is a noticeable swoosh at high speed, but it's not a deal breaker in that my other MB's also have similar high speed air swooshing. Everyone that has driven with me both as a front seat or rear seat passenger remarks how comfortable the seats and ride are. I opted for MB Tex rather than leather since I really don't see or appreciate any difference, and for the price savings, go for it. The Climate Control is excellent, and quickly cools the car in seconds rather than minutes after sitting in the sun for awhile. There's plenty of space for hauling groceries, or golf clubs, and under the inside rear where you would normally find a spare tire, there is additional storage space that really adds to total storage. With the Driver Assistance Package comes many safety options including auto steering, lane control, distance controllable cruise control, safety emergency braking to mention a few; it's worth the upgrade price. The Navigation system upgrade is also a no-brainer, and with the Mercedes Me App, you can send destinations to your GLC300. I also found that when I'm searching for a particular POI, the onboard internet finds what I'm looking for if it's not on the Master File of POI's in the command module. I urge that you not only test drive the GLC300, but also request a loaner to drive for a few days so you can really make a considered buy decision.

My First Mercedes Benz
I am a retired senior and love SUV's. Ease of entrance and exit are paramount. I have owned Honda CRV's (x3), Acura RDX, BMW X1 and a BMW X3. I have to say that the Mercedes Benz is the best of the lot. While all these vehicles offer something better than the next the overall star in the pack is the GLC. The very first thing that you will notice when driving is the SILENCE and SOLITUDE inside the vehicle. It is far and away the quietest SUV of the above selection. The ride is in the upper part of the pack and equivalent to the RDX. Handling is a tad below the BMW's but the ride is WAY better. Both my BMW's rode like Corvette's. Harsh and when you hit a pot hole everyone in the vehicle knew it. Not so with the MB. Not to soft and not too harsh. Just what I was looking for. While the CRV's are great bang for the buck, they are plagued with high road noise to the point that they are fatiguing after a few hours behind the windshield. Additionally, the Seats on the MB are THE best. Just enough bolster to hold you in place and not enough to hinder ingress and egress. The X1 equipped with Sport Pac buckets was made for young men with lots of testosterone. At mid life one grows out of taking corners at Wide Open Throttle. The MB still performs on corners but does so softly. I really appreciate the Heads Up display as it gives the MPH posted for the highway that you are on. Don't know how they do that?! But it's a nice feature to always know the legal speed limits. While Edmond's & Consumer Reports and others have marginalized the GLC ... I for one who has owned and driven a new car yearly for the past four years, feel that you will fall in love with the GLC. All around the Pick of the Litter. Not the Cheapest, but clearly the best. And did I mention pride of ownership??

Great car - terrible technology
UPDATE 2 (Edmunds sent a reminder, so why not): Two tweaks - 1) MB applied an update that enables me to connect my iPhone and play music via the bluetooth connection - that wasn't working before. Clunky, but at least it works; 2) MB of West Chester seems to be getting their act together - my last service experience was much better in terms of scheduling and the time it took to get the work done (just an inspection - nothing wrong with the car). Other than that, reviews below still stand - great car, 2011 technology. UPDATE from original review below: After 9 months of ownership, I can say that this is the most comfortable car I have ever owned. Rides great, seats great on longer drives (we take it to our beach house), lots of storage space (thanks to no spare) - and great mileage. Much more 'elegant' ride that my wife's BMW - but I still have to say that the BMW technology is way better than the MB. I am stunned that in the GLC300 the satnav is so clunky, the bluetooth interface is poor (no Apple Carplay), there are no standard distance sensors for parking - some work to do there. In addition, the BMW comes with service included - and if you live in SE Pennsylvania, from personal experience Otto's BMW is way better than MB of West Chester when it comes to customer care. So while I like the GLC300, when I take the technology and entire ownership experience into account, I would probably go with an X3 if I was buying again today. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have owned a black 2018 GLC300 for three months now, and it is a great car - comfortable, good performance, lots of nice features, looks classy. Gas mileage is very good - much better than I expected. My only niggle with the ride is that the car can judder on bumps - I have the upgraded wheels, and I have read in other reviews that the larger wheels can be detrimental to the ride - I can attest that those reviews are accurate. Not a huge deal, but noticeable. Another niggle on a car at this price point is that the park distance control sensors are not included on anything but the highest package (I got premium package 1, not 2). Again, not the end of the world, but a bit surprising - I made the mistake of assuming that it was there. However, the reason I would not buy this car again is the horrendous technology and interface system for the radio, nav, and media devices - I feel like I have gone back in time 10 years to before the iPhone. Perhaps that seems like a silly reason not to buy a car, but since all of the cars at this level are so similar (BMW, Merc, Jag, Acura, etc), it becomes a bigger deal. Compared to the others, it is terrible. Voice recognition does not work for the phone, and it is so clunky for nav it is not usable. I will get by using my iPhone - with google maps and siri I don't really need the features on the car, but it's disappointing. So - depends on what your priorities are - car is great, but if you want some technology from this decade, go with a BMW or some other car (my wife drives a Mini, which has the BMW tech, and it's great). Last note for those in SE Pennsylvania - MB West Chester was fine during the purchase process, but I am surprised that there has been no follow up at all - when I compare that to the follow up from Otto's Mini (those guys are great) or other dealers from whom I have bought a car, a bit surprising. I haven't needed to speak to them, but do think that a lack of follow up reflects the management of the dealership (perhaps it was me or this is a one off). All the best in your car search.

Solid car with excellent road manners.
After months of research and test drives I choose the GLC. Cars I considered were the Volvo XC60 ( mediocre ride and driving experience), Lexus RX350 (expense packages to get the equipment you want and boring to drive), Lexus NX (nothing more than an expense Toyota RAV4), Audi Q5 ( lack of safety equipment unless you spend over $55,000). The GLC has a very good ride, excellent handling, very comfortable and a quality build. I don’t understand why people complain about how hard it is to use the technology. I purchased my GLC with Command and the Premium Driver Assistance packages and find it very logical and easy to use. Just spend a little bit of time reading the owners manual and you will not have any issues. Definately the easiest infotainment systems of the 4 competitors I listed above. Fuel Mileage has averaged over 25 MPG which I find very acceptable. Very happy with my GLC purchase. Now with 19655 miles on the odometer I have had only one warrantee trip to the dealer. Seems a sensor in the gas pedal assemble that is part of the optional Driver Assistance package went bad. The part was back ordered for 5 days but the dealer gave me a brand new loaner while they had the car in the shop. All is well now. We also just took an 800 mile trip in one day (14 hours of driving) and the car remained comfortable the entire trip. The Premium Driver Assistance packages took the stress out of driving in traffic and the Attention Alert even told me when to take a break. Mileage on this trip averaged 29.7 MPG with lots of luggage. Update…after 6 years of ownership and 55000 miles I traded the car in. I never had any issues and and only the only expense beside routine maintenance was a set of tires.

Enjoyable car
I have now driven the vehicle for about 18 months. Overall, I really like this SUV. The ride is smooth, quiet and comfortable. The excelleration is great as is the handling. I have two main problems. First, the technology is difficult to navigate and should be a lot simplier go use. For example, I think that the remote start is ridiculous. Instead of making it simply by just pushing a button like other much less expensive vehicles, you have to go to this long convoluted process that takes much too long. In fact, I've had a separate remote starter installed because I got so annoyed. Second, my GLC does not have a spare tire. The factory tires can drive flat for about 50 miles. But if you experience a flat on some of the nation's highways, you may much more than 50 miles from a dealer. This can, and has ruined 2 days of a trip for me. It seems that for the cost of this vehicle a spare should be provided.

Problems
Bought this car five months ago. Tried to start it one morning it was totally dead. Mercedes’s said it was a bad battery they put in a new one and I drove it home. Next morning totally dead again. Mercedes told me I must be leaving the lights on. Now it’s been in the shop for almost a month now and they have no idea what’s wrong. They put in a new computer and when they did that it blew up the fuse box so they ordered a new fuse box and now they said there is something wrong with the power steering. Another crazy thing is that they gave me a loaner glc and there is something wrong with this one too. It makes a very Loud engine noise sounds like one of the fans. Sounds like a space ship taking off.

Love it!
Be sure and get Apple Car Play. (I have lots of the bells and whistles, so that upped the final price.) I love having my phone mirrored on the screen. Being able to press one button on steering wheel for voice control on texts, calls, directions, etc. makes driving easier and safer. The car drives like a dream. The engineering of the transmission is amazing! I’ve had the car a week and a half, and it takes some practice knowing how to stylize and personalize the car to my preferences, but I’m getting there. Dealership and the i-button have been patient and helpful. With recent hip replacement surgery, I knew I needed a car that was easy to get in and out of. I suppose any smaller SUV would have done that, but this car has a come hither smile built into it. This car is perfect. It’s got a surprisingly sporty, confident approach in its design. Dang, this is a fun, cool, safe, luxurious car. Love it!

Never owned better
I have owned Lexus, Cadillac and several MBZ including a 2016 E350 fully optioned out. This one is also completely optioned out. My only complaint is that as quiet as the interior is, and it is library quiet, the slight wind noise coming from the windshield is annoying at speed. This car/SUV does not come with laminated windows that are acoustically silent and you can't order them. This makes no sense when everything about the SUV screams quality and luxury. Because road noise and all other noises are so well managed, you really notice the wind noise. It's not bad, just intrusive enough that you feel annoyed in a $60,000 car. Other than the poor and I mean really poor gas mileage, this is the best car I have ever owned. I have 2500 miles on the car and in combined city/freeway driving averaging about 31 miles and hour for the last 1500 of those miles, I am getting 22.1 mpg. This includes 850 miles driven at autobahn speed of 78 mph where I averaged 27 mpg. So, I am pretty disappointed in the MPG. MBZ says that I should give it until I hit 4000 miles when the engine is really broken in to see better mpg. We'll see...

GREAT CAR!
Have owned a 2018 for a short time now and absolutely love it! Excellent power, agile and very good ride for a mid size SUV. This is the perfect car for a single person or couple to go tooling around in. If you are looking for a "family" vehicle I would look elsewhere. I did a great deal of research and comparison shopping and looked at Audi, BMW and Lexus. What sold me on this car is that it has, hands down, the best interior of any of them. The fit and finish are superb, the knobs and buttons feel like metal rather than cheap plastic and the interior oozes luxury. I am not a techno geek so all the negative customer complaints on the technology deficiencies of the vehicle meant very little to me. If you are like me and care more about ride, comfort, visibility and quality of the fit and finishes then you would be making a huge mistake if you did not take a look at this vehicle. One final note.......when I pay almost $50000 dollars for a vehicle, I want it to look like I spent $50000 on it and this was the only mid size SUV that did.

Won’t Benz the truth
I have had 4 MB GLK or GLC models. Three leased, and just bought one. I bought a demo model with 2200 miles. Why? Because I got a good deal and Certified warranty, 4-years unlimited miles. If you buy, you’d be smart to buy it for cash. MB’s are pricey to start, why pay even more. If you can’t buy the car outright, then you can lease it. Also my experience at MB of Tampa Bay has always been super. The only negative I have are the Pirelli no-flat tires. You will be fortunate to get 20,000 miles. This viewpoint comes from my last lease GLC 300. Hopefully Pirelli upped their tread wear game in three years with my new tires. (UPDATE April 10,2020. My 2018 GLC is still performing nicely. Still not a fan of the no-flat tires. If a nail breeches my tire with only a minimal amount of tread wear, I’d be very unhappy. Pirelli and Mercedes need to have a standard warranty up to a certain amount of miles.)

Interior Design Is Best In Class
Delivered new at the end of January 2018. Looked at all competitors in this size/class. Went with Mercedes Benz GLC 300 because of the interior quality/design and quality ride while not sports like is good. After 9K miles mostly highway, no issues with MB build to speak of. On the negative side, took one star off for tires. The run flat tires were not what I wanted and I did not have an option to go with non run flat tires. Have not had a flat in 20 years so went with the GLC 300. Well got a flat in Florida. Have to buy a new tire to replace a tire with no wear warranty. Yes there is no mileage warranty on the Pirelli run flat tires. The reviews indicate that I will be lucky to get 20K out of these tires. So because of the extra material on the sidewall to make the tire a run flat tire, they use soft rubber. The soft rubber may also be the reason for the flat. Less resistant to puncture. With a spare tire, you change the tire and your on the road again. With run flat tires you can drive 50 miles period. So if you are on the road, this could be a stay over in a hotel. Tire stores are not open 24/7 and they do not all sell Pirelli run flat tires. So Mercedes Benz gives you 50 miles with run flat tires, and saves a lot of money on a spare wheel/tire, jack, and lug wrench, and you may have to replace the tires at 20K costing you maybe $900 plus. Run Flat tires sound good until you get a flat.

2018 GLC 300
this is the first and last Mercedes I will purchase, and here is the reason why. between the MASSIVE depreciation 60% as of 3/21 and the idiotic idea to put the filter for the transmission on the Pan, so it would cost 650 dollars to change transmission oil... yup, stupid, lost customer

Disappointed in my Mercedes GLC
My biggest disappointment with my GLC is that it does not have Apple/Android Play and cannot be retrofitted. The car doesn't even allow me to voice to text when I receive a text. I have to select command and then tell it to send a text to ... I would not have bought this car if I knew the technology was so antiquated. In addition I've had to take my car in twice in the first 90 days, once to have the transmission adjusted because it was skipping gears and once to have the brake pads replaced because they were squeaking so bad in cold weather.

GLC just for me!!!
We moved up from an E350 4 dr sedan to this automobile. We have had a Lexus SUV in the past and liked it. This car is every bit of what we were looking for as far as size, style , comfort and driveability. We take trips to visit family up north and I know we are going to enjoy the ride this car provides. Carplay will make the trips enjoyable with access to navigation on our Apple phones as well as music from Pandora. Love how it handles and the turbo charged 4 cylinder engine more than makes up what power we left behind in our E350. This has been our 2nd vehicle from the same dealership in Gainesville and we couldn't be more happier with our salesman Walt and our service guy, Damien. Great car, great sales transaction and great service from our new GLC.

Great SUV. Clunky Technology.
I just read the review about how nice the car is...except for the technology. I won’t rehash what’s already been said. But I’m shocked that a car from MB at this price point is so far behind the competition. Placing a call takes 47 steps. Trying to decipher the on screen display for anything is next to impossible. Especially while cruising down the road. The Audi Q7 that I traded in for this car was 10x more functional. And that car was a 2007!
Lovely Ride, technology moderate
its a great car. be careful and try out the multimedia entertainment device. voice activated navigation etc is a bit complicated and does not work as well as you may be used to with google map on your iPhone. maybe airplay option is better. The acceleration is very sensitive and gives a jerk everytime you increase speed, and not a very smooth ride, unless you use cruise control

Love My GLC
Shoppers should know that Mercedes Benz is the best made car in the world. Nowadays MB cars cost the same as any other car out there to keep and maintain. Any MB dealer treats you better than most other dealers.

Great Car
Mercedes Benz is considered one of the top line cars in the world, because they ARE well built and Mercedes backs up their cars. You should also know they are just as cheap to keep them running as any other cars now. All car parts now cost a bit, but Mercedes also last longer with less problems. They start out with extra accessories that others cars might finally use years later. Even though this car is used, it is awesome. I will be able to keep using it for many years after other cars have already died.
Enormous disappointment
"DONT BUY IT unless technology, innovation and the cool factor are more important than simplifying the use of your vehicle for intuitive and enjoyable driving performance. The learning curve is beyond insulting, and the most ordinary functions are way too complex and time-consuming. That applies to navigation/choosing a destination (which has taken me as much as 40 miles out of my way), connecting to my iTunes music, controlling the interior temperature, even the ridiculously complex dashboard functions. I drove Atlanta-Knoxville and back for Christmas and the audio on my navigation suddenly disappeared (phone call to dealer couldn't figure it out so I used Google maps). I never knew how fast I was going because overnight on the road the controls went from miles to kilometers, and the appropriate dashboard function would not convert while I was on the highway (which is when I realized it). My recent trip Atlanta-Philadelphia was even worse. Frustrations are endless--like who would think that three knobs virtually on top of each other to the left of steering wheel (cruise control, steering wheel adjustment, and turn signal) was a good idea? You're driving on a trip, cruise control at 70, the speed limit slows down, you reach for cruise control to bring it down and you hit the turn signal. Or vice versa. Remember you can't SEE these knobs as they are hidden by the steering wheel. Some things could SO easily have been simplified if that were Mercedes' emphasis rather than "how high-tech can we make it?" The hands-on tutorial at the dealership was like 1 marble in a bowl of 100 in terms of how much it covered--but you don't know that until you're out on the road on your own. This is a lovely car and has a very smooth ride, but it's like a computer lab on wheels, not what I'd hoped for in my first-ever luxury car. I traded it in after 4 months on a new Subaru Outback--I love it, and things which takes 8 steps in the GLC 300 can be done in 2 steps in the Subaru.

The Old Benz ain't what it used to be
There are many problems with the 300 AWD. One of those problems starts with the Tires that come the new Vehicle. Run-flat tires allows you to go to a repair station but beware, if you are at speeds of more than 45 miles per hour, you may be in some trouble controlling the vehicle while moving any faster. The Front Seat and room to move around with your phone hook up, cup holder are a joke. (two people up front bump elbows often) I feel like I'm in a race car when in driving position for driving. Had to replace all 4 tires at 20,000 miles because normal driving wears them out kind of quickly. Seats are designed for 5 people but, the middle back seat put the passenger too high for any comfort. Being dissatisfied about the Vehicle in almost every category. I went back to see if we could trade it after 2 years and we were told, its not worth enough. We surmised that the vehicle with 19,000 miles 2 years old was worth less than most other cars with the same amount of wear. It is a shame that the fine vehicle I bought in 2000 has become a high price low end vehicle. As soon as I can, I will trade this for a better car/model. After 4 different MB's we have just given up on this "high price Chevrolet" If you want to wait until December you can buy ours from a used car lot, that lot certainly won't be Mercedes Benz.

Ok but not what we expected
We found the GLC 300 SUV to be very noisy on the highway and had control issues during windy conditions. Also there may be a continuing problem with brake noise. Other aspects of the vehicle were excellent.

We also own a Mercedes 2017 E300 for the last 16 months which is the best car I've ever owned and that includes both BMW and Infinity. When my wife and I go to the garage we have a which of vehicles to drive most often get into the GLC300. We are enjoying everything about this SUV but what we are most surprised by is the opulet interior, large backseat and outstanding ride.

Pleasure to own
Recently traded in my 2018 GLC after owning it for almost 31/2 years. The vehicle was trouble free and returned fairly good resale value. Fit and finish was flawless, interior was every bit up to Mercedes quality. Cost to own was fair, vehicle did require premium fuel. Engine power was well matched for this vehicle, it was fairly quick and responsive . When I traded it in, it ran as well as the day I drove it home from the dealership.

Great Grocery Getter
My favorite car of all time, a Mercedes E350 Sport Sedan, was recently totaled in an accident. Fortunately, no one was injured, but I was upset because I wasn’t really in the market for another car. I went to our local Mercedes dealer and, just by pure luck, they had a 2018 GLC 300 which had just come off lease with 10,800 mi. Yep—3 years old and 10,800 mi. (I have typically purchased CPO Mercedes). Additionally, it was equipped with the 2 most important features for me, Advanced Parking Assist and Apple Car Play. Frankly, I would not buy a GLC without Advanced Parking Assist. It’s almost impossible to judge distances without it. I’ve had the GLC for a little over 2 months now and have come to really enjoy it. The turbo 4 is plenty strong and amazingly quiet. Access and egress is easy. The cargo area is adequate. The interior is beautifully appointed. I really appreciate the ability to extend the driver’s seat cushion. The extra support makes distance driving extremely comfortable. This car has first generation Apple Car Play which does not feature a touch screen, but since I only use Pandora and Apple Maps, it meets all of my requirements. Perhaps it’s an unfair comparison, but the GLC 300 is superior to my wife’s well equipped 2014 BMW X3 in virtually every category. And there is absolutely no comparison when it comes to interior ambience. The GLC wins hands down. I just completed a 200 mile trip over the back roads of Georgia. The car is incredibly comfortable, handled well on the twisty roads and got a welcome 30.2 mpg.

Three negatives
This vehicle has a great design, powerful engine, great ac. I enjoyed driving it. BUT. The remote mercedes embrace app does not work 80 to 100 percent of the time. The vehicle was in for service many times, no one was able to solve the problem. The technology is sub par and safety features are not only not standard but are basically unavailable or partially available with a very expensive upgrade package. And the run flat tires are sub par, wore out after 13k on excellent roads and could have killed us for lack of awareness that these tires could be bald at 13K. So I got rid of my glc300. Huge disappointment and my time was wasted with the hundreds of calls informing tech support that the wifi and remote start did not work. I am so glad to be done with this vehicle.

Comfortable and efficient
Although I have always enjoyed Mercedes, starting with a 1970 280SE, this is my wife's first. I convinced her to test drive one on a visit to our dealership, she immediately felling love with it. Any thought of Infinity, her prior choices, was set aside. The GLC has proven to very comfortable, easy to drive, and very fuel efficient (28 mpg average). Our dealership has great staff, reasonable prices, and excellent maintenance services and support. So pleased with my wife's GLC I decided to purchase my own 2020 model. It is even quieter than hers, and MBUS being included as a standard feature is most welcome. A sensor was malfunctioning and drained the battery, replacements covered under warranty. Dealer provided loaner ensured minimal disruption.

Intermittent key sensing issues
After 4 years of ownership, the car drives well and everything is great...when it actually wants to open. We would use either keys and press the unlock. The doors do no unlock. We try keyless go and no unlock. It's as if the car does not sense the keys being near the car. We have been through multiple rounds of switching out the keyless go unit, the keyless go door handles, and several other bits. The car has gone into the dealership and independent shops multiple times, and the issue still persists. No one seems to have an idea of what is happening. Sometimes, they tell us that they can't replicate the issues. We have swapped out batteries on both keys multiple times and change out the car's battery twice. The only way to open the door is using the actual key, but doing so would set off the alarm on the car. We are at our wits' end.

The worst thing about the GLC, you need to use premium fuel. The maintenance program is very expensive and parts are also expensive. Basically this is not the car for the average person
