4th E - the Best

Vic, 02/04/2018
2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 400 Sport 4MATIC 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 9A)
35 of 36 people found this review helpful

Our 4th E-class (04, 10,14). Held out for the V-6 and it's worth the extra cost: smooth, great sound, awesome power, unbelievably responsive for a turbo yet fairly economical. Returned nearly 30 mpg on a recent trip and the engine is still learning to work with itself - breaking-in and loosening-up. The car reeks class and comfort. Like all E's, it feels like it's been carved out of a single block of metal. Infotainment takes a little getting used to, but the logic makes sense once you learn it.

This one is for me

I bought the E400 coupe almost a year ago. It's been great. More power than my 2016 E350 sedan and a little sportier in cornering. The ride is a little harder I think due to the sport package but I love the car. The navigation is flawless but you have to make sure there is light background noise when you speak to set it. My old one didn't have voice control for the navigation so you had to stop the car and set it manually. This is so much more intuitive. Th nav has rescued me whan I tried to use my phone on Google maps. Google has gotten me lost or misdirected so I never depend on it. The Mercedes computer has been great. I can read and send text messages by voice control which is great because, one of my pet peeves was getting text messages while I'm driving. I used to have to pull over to deal with them. The ambient lighting is nice and doesn't distract me, I can also sit and watch You Tube (not that I do) but others might appreciate it. I have heated and ventilated front seats and who knew I would really like it and use it (mostly ventilating as I live in Calif and I run alittle warm anyway). The console phone charger is so easy. I just place my phone in the pocket and it auto charges. Oh, and the massaging front seats actually have been nice. I wouldn't have ordred that but actually use it, especially on long drives. It's light but that works for me. The main reason I bought it is because it's BEAUTIFUL! I am constantly getting comments about it. Yesterday in traffic, a guy in a Lexus SUV next to me yelled out in traffic " Hey nice, very sexy car " and gave me thumbs up. ( my sentiments exactly) Mine is white and I think is compliments the car. Everyone who sits in the back seat tells me how comfotable it is. Getting out is easier then older models because the front seats move forward automatically. (Easier, not easy). I only have one complaint, and that is the lack of rear window controls for the back seat passengers. Love the car and in three years will be sorry to see it go. Onward and upward though.

The Worst or Nothing

Judelbug, 01/19/2020

Mercedes-Benz USA calls itself “The Best or Nothing.” If you read my review, you make the decision: Best? or Nothing? My wife and I live in Southern Pines, NC. We saved and used a stack of our hard-earned scratch to purchase a new 2018 Mercedes-Benz e63s, an AMG (performance division) Mercedes-Benz. It was to be the car of our dreams, one we would keep forever and ever. At 2K miles, it lost power at 35 mph. We thought it was probably a computer glitch and would clear up by itself. It did -- until 3,600 miles rolled up – then it happened again. The M-B dealer said it was a cam shaft problem. It took almost three weeks to repair and return the car to us. At 4k miles, while we were travelling, we had similar trouble and checked the car into a M-B dealership. This time, the work order said one of the car’s cylinders had been working improperly. At 4,727 miles, back went the car – a charcoal canister had a hose disconnected. At 10,780 miles, my wife and I were in the car, again away from home. The car began running raggedly, as if it were shuddering, trembling, freezing to death; plus, a warning message said, “Brake Assist Malfunctioning.” The car limped us back to our home. The dealership said two of the cylinders were not working properly. We reported these problems to M-B’s customer “service,” but the most we’ve gotten in response is a call from an “executive” to commiserate with us and say he certainly hoped nothing more happened. Barely a day passed before something more happened. At about 10,900 miles, the car began flashing successive warning messages: “Brake Assist Malfunctioning”; “Blind-spot Assist Inoperable”; “Distance Assist Inoperable”; plus, the cruise control simply dropped dead, stopped working, completely. Thankfully, we were only about 20 miles from home; we said various prayers that nothing more happened while returning to our home, like maybe the steering going haywire or whatever. We contacted a M-B dealership numerous times, both my email and phone and finally a lady called to say they could come get the car in about two weeks. So the car is now our garage queen, waiting on M-B to decide that we just might need more than empathy. One thing is for sure, to us, this is not a big concern with M-B and we feel they have had zero regard for our safety or the safety of other motorists that might have been confronted by our malfunctioning vehicle. Our $120k car of our dreams is a rolling safety hazard and the lemon of our nightmares. But you be the judge: “The Best”? or “Nothing”?

In less than 1,800 miles, this car died on the road. Twice. Once on a 70 mph freeway, needed a 50 mile tow. Quite scary as I could barely coast to the shoulder. Second time in the middle of a busy intersection. The first dealer definitely says it was fixed. The second dealer is equally sure that it's fixed. But both blamed the ECM. Well, twice is too many times for me. I've been a member of AAA for over 30 years, never needed a tow. Until twice last month, and that's enough for me. Maybe this car is a lemon. Or maybe it's not! I wrote and called Mercedes Benz USA head office ... but no compensation ... apparently they don't think the problem is all that bad. It drives great ... whenever it's not actually waiting for a tow truck. One nitpick ... the exhaust note is really loud. So anyway I'm trading it in. Losing some money on this but it's too risky to keep. No doubt this car will be popular with some set of buyers. Not me though.

GPS doesn’t work

I have had several Mercedes over the years; never had a problem with the navigation system. The new system GPS does not work and the dealer says there is no fix! It has me making u-turns when a left turn is needed. I guess it doesn’t like to make left turns. Once it calculates route, it really doesn’t want to recalculate, it just keeps telling you to make a u-turn. I was given a loaner car of the same type and model; it couldn’t find a route to the Mercedes dealership, it had me driving into the Gulf of Mexico! The entire navigation and audio system requires many many keystrokes to accomplish common functions. Really disappointing especially since the dealer says there are no fixes.

DO NOT BUY - LEMON

First, it should be noted that I would never imagine having to write this. I am a medical director and have no hidden agenda by conveying this information; however, I must... I have NEVER been more dissatisfied with a product. I thought I was an AMG driver for life; however, since leasing my 2018 E63 SL AMG, the car has been a disaster! My radiator has literally "blown-up" on 3 separate occasions. Each time, the car was in the shop for over a month. Constantly told "radiator is on back order" which makes me think I am not the only one to have experienced this problem. Always occurs when driving on highway and somehow run over some small object (causing no damage to exterior of car); then "check coolant/engine" light comes on and within minutes car shuts down. Now, most recently, my car was determined to be a Total loss from Progressive insurance after something kicked-up on highway through driver/rear tire - did so much damage to undercarriage that car was totaled. To clarify, NO external damage to car. I am convinced there is a flaw with this year/model. Prior to this car, I drove a 2016 E63 SL AMG and never had a problem. Mercedes cut weight between models in attempt to make faster and in the process removed the previously placed protection to underside/undercarriage. The final conclusion of an independent investigation conducted by Progressive Insurance was that "Mercedes made a horrible car never intended to drive on California's highways". I have also never been treated in such a horrendous matter as by AMG/Mercedes Customer Service/Executive Care team. Please share similar issues with this year/model. - Former AMG-for-life driver.

MB no!

BBoy, 11/02/2018

After owning eight (yes, 8) Mercedes Benz vehicles I am incredibly unhappy and will never go back to this brand. From day one, after taking delivery to today 2 /12 years later, the navigation traffic overlay has not worked consistently. The Command system itself is terrible... slow sluggish and unreliable. The Apps for remote start, unlocking, etc. have never worked. The car is beautiful, comfortable and great to drive but when you pay $60K for a car you expect to have everything work well. So much for MB billing this as the most "technologically advanced car on the road. The dealer has done everything they can and says, "the problem is between MBUSA and AT&T or Sirius." The most aggravating thing is that, after multiple calls to MBUSA you can't get to anyone who will help. Customer service reps are of no help. I have asked twice for a CS manager to call me, no one calls back. Thirty-four years and 8 vehicles gets you this kind of poor product and bad customer service. Meanwhile, the technology in a Toyota or a Subaru performs beautifully. Disgusting.

I had a 2015 E350 and now a 2018 E300. The older V6 was very slightly faster, while the new four-cylinder is about 4 MPG more fuel efficient. Both cars are equally smooth, with the four-cylinder slightly quieter. This engine with the 9 speed is NOT a downgrade from the previous V6 with 7 speed. The older car just felt a bit more solid. Closing the doors felt like sealing a bank vault, where the new one has lost some of that experience. Still, the new car is quieter going down the road and other than the sound of closing the doors it just feels more expensive. The new one has A LOT of tech. My car has the premium 3 package and I love the head-up display and the self driving features. The 13 speaker Burmester audio is a bit better than the 9 speaker Harmann-Kardon in the old car, but I preferred the navigation and phone interface (with an actual full phone keypad) on the older model. The new seats are about equal to the old ones, meaning supremely comfortable for any drive long or short. I drive roughly 50,000 miles per year, and short of springing for an S class (not worth the money with all those miles) I just can't imagine a better car. I mostly drive on the highway, and the feeling of safety, comfort and control of an E class Mercedes-Benz is the best possible in a car of this size. All-in-all, I see this E300 as a very nice upgrade, but like anything, there were some aspects of the previous model that I preferred. *** Update 8/19/21 *** I just sold this car last week with approximately 90,000 miles on the clock. In the two years I owned it, 80,000 of those miles were mine and the car was very comfortable and reliable the entire time. There were a few glitches, mostly in the electronics, but never once was I left stranded or anything more than mildly inconvenienced (center screen blacking out and rebooting was the worst of it). All-in-all, this car was better than the previous generation in most ways, and as an added bonus it returned incredible fuel economy (30 MPG at 85 MPH).

I am in love with this car, you have to remember that is a sport’s car, suspension is on the stiff side of it, Pzero tires makes it more sporty, mine came with 20’s I would imagine if you get the 19’s inch rims and different tires the ride would be a lot better, the car comes configure if you will to take corners and go fast, Luxury is not left behind on this car, I would say is a mini S Class. Great car I recommend it.

About three months into a lease with this car (my first-ever leased vehicle), and it is simultaneously magnificent and disappointing. Gorgeous interior, endless gizmos, pretty effective aircap system, but a bit lacking in the fit-and-finish department. Front seat carpeting delaminating and certain body panels not fitted up to the usual E-class standard. I feel good driving it, though, and my wife, its principal driver, is ecstatic about it. A good buy for the money (these days), but I expect future iterations of the same generation will improve a bit on certain things.

Bad service, no spare tires, and useless app

It's a nice car when everything works. But everything does not always work. In northeastern winter you'll have blown tires. And when that happens you'll be stranded just as we did! Had 4(!) blown tires in 2 days! Wasted two days in the dealerships. Customer service is terrible, both at the dealerships (no loaner cars, took hours and hours to get new tires -- altogether 10+ hours), and over the phone (took 20+ minutes to send the tow truck, and by the time the car was towed the dealership was closed. Had to spend the night nearby). The problem is MB took out the spare tire from the car but could not handle the necessary service part resulting from it. They subcontract lots of service apparently. Another thing is the remote start just doesn't work. During the 18 months I've driven this car, it worked maybe 5 times. Today it's 10F outside and this stupid car won't remote start! I will never buy a mercedes again.

Yeah, I had a great ride. Bucket-list car. But who needs 500 hp and launch control to go get groceries? 2.8 sec 0/60, btw. Serious firepower. AWD launch with all four tires smoking. Big fun, but realized that is was too much car for my situation. Good thing I got it out of my system. I was looking for something more comfortable to drive, more of an open-top boulevard cruiser. Found it!! The E400 Cab spoke to me on almost every level. Checked every box on my shopping list. No, I'm not going to win every stoplight drag race as before, nor be able to do 70mph sweeper on-ramps, but -- hey!!! -- I think it's a great car for the money. And I don't have to work so hard when driving it. Updates later. -------- Update after several months: still love it for what it's good at. Luxo cruising with the top down and a bit of sport when you want it. The control layout -- while perfectly logical -- are different enough from other cars that there's the occasional awkward moment when I switch between cars. Like I go to put on the wipers and mistakenly put it into neutral. OK, no biggie. And I wish I could find a way to permanently turn off the auto-stop feature. But that's about it in the complaint department. All my other big-buck cars had a much longer complaint list, just sayin' Likes? Room in the back seat for adults. It matters. Top up, it's a full-on sedan -- zero road noise. Enough power that you don't find yourself wanting more. Very, very crisp responses. Certainly not a track contender, although it wouldn't suck, but not my thing these days. Very compliant suspension: firm enough for fun, but not harsh in the least. Fun stuff on the screen, like torque and horsepower displays. My wife looks forward to driving it, as do the kids when they visit. Something about this car makes you subtly relax when you take it out. I don't think about life's problems, I think about how nice the ride is. Maybe it's the ionizing air freshener. Maybe it's the pristine sound from the speakers. Maybe it's the interior aesthetics, or the big display screen. Or all of them. Bottom line: I am quite happy with my purchase, and have noticed others in my neighborhood since buying mine. So I'm not the only one in my demographic who went this way. Lots of good cars in this price range, to be sure. But this one is a keeper for me.

I custom ordered for my wife and it took 3 months, definitely worth the wait. Got it fully loaded with Premium 3 package, AMG package, soft close doors, massage seats and Dynamic air suspension which are a must in this car. It’s been a month and she loves it. This car can be whatever you want it to be. With the top us, it’s as quiet as a sedan . With the top down and air cap on, the wind just barely touches you in the front seats. 19” staggered tire awesome to look at and stick to the road when driving. Just so much tech packages in he car is just mind boggling. 0-60 in almost 5 seconds is not bad at all . I only worry about is maintenance and hence 7/75k package gives me peace of mind for now. Metallic paint is a must (we have got white with blue top). With 4 wheel drive 4matic ,it’s definitely a car for all seasons. Still stand by the above review. After 2.5 years of owning it, she still loves it and there are no issues to report other than tires (lasted about 15k miles)

I have owned a 2018 E 400 Cabriolet for about 2 months now and all I can say is that it is the most sophisticated car I have every owned. It has show stopping design, especially the interior and state of the art technology. It is super quiet with the top down and up with a triple layer soft top. The turning radius is go kart like. The headlights light up the night and the brakes are incredible! Overall, compared to the Audi A5 convertible it is light years ahead of it in styling, tech, and ride. BMW is not in the same class as this automobile. You just have to drive it to understand. It is truly a work of art.

== If you are not a car person, and you recently upgraded and are loving your pretty new car then stop reading! Just enjoy it! == But if you are thinking of buying this car and are a car person, read on and you might reconsider. I waited to write this after driving this car nearly a year. I love cars and I have owned or driven a lot of different cars and I'm usually the person everyone asks their buying questions from, so I usually don't make mistakes myself when buying a car. But I fell in love with the looks of this car, which was a BIG mistake! Car companies do this thing of first brining the new look/tech to their higher end models which most people can't afford and trickle it down to lower end models eventually. Usually I'm okay with this practice. I very much loved the new S class interior when it first came out. Then the S-coupe... what a gorgeous and well made car all around... the attention to every detail. But of course way out of the budget. Then I saw this E-coupe when it first hit the showroom... it seemed like basically the same thing as S coupe for about third the price! Wow! I bought one with almost all the options... felt like such a "good deal"! Not so fast. This is a Frankenstein of a car... yes, it has a beautiful interior very similar to S coupe, of course not quite the same level of finish, which I can forgive. But the rest.... it just doesn't come together and has no refinement. For example: Constantly my windows don't close all the way and I have to keep playing with it to close them. It happens randomly. The dealer has already "fixed it" once, but keeps happening, so I've given up from constantly having to take it back. I was excited about the new Apple Car play option, but it randomly crashes the WHOLE system... you can't even go back to normal navigation until you pull over to the side, shut down the car and restart! I was also excited about the wireless charging pad the car comes with, but coming even near it activates Apple Pay, and makes my iphone want to charge me (come on Mercedes, you already charged me enough!). It is annoying because I usually use Google Maps (since Apple Car play was a bust) and so I can't even get my phone NEAR the front area of dash or my phone keeps switching to Apple pay and I have to keep dismissing it to go back to maps while driving... super annoying, specially if by accident you forget to keep your phone far back/away from the dashboard! I was also very excited about the supposedly new steering assist that came with my VERY expensive options package... it simply only works when it randomly decides to work... even when the green steering wheel icon is on (meaning it is supposed to be working!) but it just doesn't do anything half the time, yet other half it decides to steer for you. So that's just a couple examples of where the high tech seems just thrown in and not even tested before shipping and doesn't seem even safe! (BTW, I brought all this up several times through various channels with MB, and they basically said "you are right, we are very sorry, we'll work on it in the future" which doesn't help me at all, so I'm hoping at least this review will save you from the same issues). Then let's talk about the drive. It drives like a Mustang (base model Mustang, not GT!). Sure, not a bad thing if you are coming from a Prius and this is the only upgrade you have sampled/experienced. Mustangs have come a long ways and are a great drive for the price point. But when this car costs more than double the mustang (triple with my options), I would expect a little more finesse! The suspension is so, so unremarkable. If I closed my eyes (not recommended with the fake/half working tech!) I really wouldn't be able to tell the difference at all. The car leans, but not in a fun way because of slightly underpowered engine. It's not really supposed to be a sports car, more of cruiser, so all the leaning and mediocre suspension is not justified at this price point and for the MB brand. Yes, it is more fun in sports+ but then the transmission shows its weakness and it is super choppy and makes you look like a teenage driver learning to drive for first time with all the jerks and pulls. So it doesn't succeed as neither a sports car or a cruiser, certainly not as a comfortable luxury car. I could write a lot more, but I think you get the idea. I feel trapped in my lease and will try to get out as soon as I can. The car is pretty, no denying that. But that's it! It's only skin deep. It doesn't have good quality underneath, and it just doesn't come together as one cohesive vehicle. It's as if many different departments just threw in their their techs designed for different models and there wasn't a single designer making sure it all works well/in harmony together. Again, if I had paid the price of a base Mustang for this, or even say 50% more, I wouldn't complain at all, but for this price range (70+ when you add options) I expected more than just outside beauty.

Semi self driving features are amazing. Not a fan of no spare tire and run flat tires. sold it due to no spare and run flat tires, I travel a lot in sparsely populated areas of the country and having a flat would potentially strand me for 3+ days waiting for a new tire after a long tow.

This is my 4th Mercedes. This is the first time for the E-Class. My previous Mercedes were an SLK 250, a Sprinter, and a C 300. My very first Mercedes should have been the E class! The 2018 E 400 cabriolet is absolutely hands down the most amazing vehicle that I have ever owned! In the past I have owned a Jaguar, BMW, Cadillac, Acura, Lexus, and a Maserati. There is no comparison to the 2018 E400 Cabriolet! I ordered this car in October of 2017. This was the first time that I ordered a car, but I am glad that I did. I was able to customize it to just the way I wanted it. From the emerald green metallic exterior paint, the dark brown soft top, the Macchiato Beige/Espresso Brown Nappa Leather seats, to the light brown sen wood trim with the black piano lacquer console, and the Magic Vision and the premium interior lighting are both amazing. The back seat is very roomy and comfortable. With the top open, the noise is at a very minimum. A conversation can be carried on with all passengers. Don't forget the air scarves, a must for cool weather top open cruising! Do not hesitate on a 2018 E 400!

I gave this “rocket” a year to settle in and grow on me however it never quite did. No longer in my Scuderia. While the engine and drive train are knarly and incredibly powerful, the Benz saloon chassis and other engineering get left in the dust, a tail of two cars in one, regrettably. Sometime things don’t go together and this is the case with a car like the E63S AMG. Perhaps my bad for assuming a Benz saloon can be a true sports car. Car was fast and loud, feel was numb to non existent. Fairly monolithic.

One of Three Edition 1 Wagons

I have read that some of the early AMG E63s cars did have some teething problems. But like the thousands of airline flights daily one only hears about the one that crash landed or, unfortunately, worse. Likewise, the likelihood is that 99% of the E63s owners/lessees have experienced no or very minor issues with their cars. I purchased my Edition 1 wagon in May of 2018. The build date is 04/18 and, as the title says, is one of only three Ed 1 wagons in the U.S. So far I've had zero issues and though this is a heavy car it drives much smaller. The wagon has super acceleration, much faster than my previous 2013 C63 with 481 hp and the transmission shifts are just as fast as the best DCTs out there. On the practical side, well this is a wagon so lots of room and the back seats have plenty of leg room. I feel that the ride is just fine especially in Comfort mode. Remember, this is a machine geared more to the sports side so the suspension is a bit taught but, in my view, not overly so. The interior is really nice and the dual screen dash is fun to play with and has many options and is quite intuitive. Test drive one! You won't be disappointed. This is an update: Car is still going strong with no issues to date. It seems to be getting more powerful with more miles and still a great ride. I've no regrets for purchasing this AMG E63s wagon and my wife really likes it too.

I waited for the E class cabriolet to return to production after driving a loaner 2017 sedan. The cabin is superb; Loaded with intuitive technology and safety features. I opted for the designo interior and P3 package. The top goes down every chance I get. Thanks MB.

This car will give you a smooth silky ride, with enough pick up to make you excited. It combines luxury and sportiness and fun with the top down. I am 21/2 years into a lease and have not experienced any mechanical issues. At the moment I am considering buying this car out of lease. The only negative issue I have with this car is the navigation It has issues with the command system. However it does have Apple Car Play, so I use google maps or Waze. Strongly recommend this vehicle.

I’m a Mercedes guy and I normally drive the AMG versions because of the power. Got this E300 sport package with premium 2 to replace my wife’s car. At first, I was reluctant because it only had a 4 cylinder engine, which was ironic for a 60K luxury car. I researched the reviews online but they were not helpful, because they focused more on the advance tech features rather than the engine performance. I test drove it and boy oh boy, I was very impressed with the engine. It does not whine at all like most 4 bangers and because of the 9 speed gtronic transmission this car switches through the gears very effortlessly! The engine sounds better than the previous models V6s. The ride quality and handling is comparable to my S Class which is very impressive. The standard multi color ambient interior lighting is so cool specially driving at night. Sooo!!! Happy!!!

Caveat Emptor (BUYER BEWARE!!!)  I just confirmed with a Mercedes rep at MBrace that if you own a 2018 Mercedes E300, you will not be allowed to renew your Active Traffic subscription. They apparently switched vendors and have no timeline on a substitute (if any).  This is a very poor way to treat customers of this luxury brand. I have also read in a couple forums that this applies to 2017-2018 E and S classes.  I can only confirm that it applies to the 2018 E class as I have spoken directly to MB about my car.

The 2018 e class Cabriolet is the most fun I have had driving in memory. It is equal parts sports car, smooth luxury cruiser, and is comfortable in either capacity. Top can be removed or raised while in motion....and is also key operated. Technology is the most advanced and precise as there is on the market today. GO GET ONE.

CPO E300 Sport

I drove C class sedans for about a dozen years (2005, 2009, 2011 and 2112 models) and then moved up to a. 2015 E350 a few-years-ago. Yesterday I bought a CPO 2018 E300 Sport with the AMG Line and Premium 3 packages. I always buy a one or two-year-old certified car and can't lease as I average about 30,000 miles per year. The 2015 E350 was a nice upgrade from the C class, which I always enjoyed, and the new generation 2018 is more of the same. While most people look at the new technology of the W213 generation cars as the biggest improvement, I actually find the biggest upgrade to be the driveline. Sure, the 3.0 liter V6 in my previous car was more powerful, but the 2.0 liter turbo four cylinder makes the same torque, and most importantly, that torque comes on at far lower RPM. The broader torque curve and nine speed (vs. seven speed) transmission results in a smoother and quieter ride that accelerates almost as hard (6.2 instead of 6.0 seconds 0-60) and returns better fuel economy (about 3 MPG better across the board in real world driving). There are other improvements as well. The new seats are more supportive and comfortable, the suspension is a bit more compliant (I have the standard steel-spring sport suspension) and the car is just better insulated against wind, road and tire noise (I do not have the quiet ride package). Of course the technology that attracts so much attention in professional reviews (my Premium 3 car has all of the semi-autonomous driving aids) is nice, I just think that the basic goodness of the platform is even more impressive.

It really is a surprising car. The doors shut like a vault the car feels sold and all the little extras deliver a level of style and sophistication that make you fell like a star pulling up to a pump at a gas station. No doubt there are cars that are faster, cheaper and even ranked more reliable... But when it comes down to it, the person that buys an E-class isn't your normal car buyer. They have disposable income, they don't want to show up in a parking lot where you can find 30 other cars just like yours. They are looking for something different, something elegant, and the E-class has options and appointments you just don't find in any other car. They are on top pf their game when it comes to style and the the interiors are some of the best in the market today. The osmosis from the S-class is apparent and if you cant afford $100K+ optioned S-class then the E-class is your ticket. You wont regret buying this car.

I purchased a new E-320, fully loaded. Hand washed from day one to this day. Driven only 14 miles/day! It has only 40k miles. I babied this vehicle and it is in mint condition.looks like a museum piece! At around 30k miles the leather seat's seams came apart! (???) Note that i have the massage package so you would expect a top quality leather used by a high end vehicle right? ** wrong **. Dealer "did me a favor" and replaced it. Later I found out that MB * knew * about the upholstery's low quality they used. Now, at 40k miles the leather top, left side of the driver seat is peeling off!! Went to the dealer - horrible dealer btw - (MB of Nanuet RT304 Nanuet, NY) and the service manager, was quick to say oh! Wear and tear... Not covered, sorry. Are you kidding me??? 40k miles? I weight 180 pounds, tall and slim. My neighbor has a BMW with over 80k miles, he weights probably 350 pounds and the seat look like new! Do yourself a favor MB has the reputation but the quality parts they use - at least the leather - is horrible. Never ever again!! And also stay away form that horrible dealer. I plan to put a sign in my vehicle and drive around with a picture of the peeling leather and the name of the dealer who refuses to take care of it. That, based on the mint condition of the vehicle most likely will raise eyebrows. Shame on you Mercedes Benz!

I own an 11 E350 & it’s in the shop so the e300 is a loaner. My car has 119k miles on it. I love the look of my car, it’s black on black and always get compliments. This 18 though has been everything I wished mine was. I love the power delivery, it’s very smooth, the seats are very comfortable and the car is quiet on the inside. You’ll easily be driving 80 mph and not realize it. The car also has a sporty feel to it, it handles well and has a good ride to it. Ive been contemplating an 18 S560 but this might do.

Love the car and the features. It is technology heavy and most of the features are not intuitive. I read owner's manuals when I get a new car, but even that isn't easy. Fortunately I can bring the car back after having it awhile with questions on how things work. Would really like a feature that automatically locks the doors when you close them (my Corvette has that and I love it), but no luck.

I was very happy test drive and very impressed with the car during test drive. I sold my 2011 V6 Honda accord for this car and 2017 E300 is slower and smaller than that accord I sold. Base E300 is slower than previous generation of base trim E350.Its also slower, smaller and less fuel efficient than BMW 530 and Volvo S90. I know Mercedes uses same engines for E class as the C class but beside the base trim (E300) other E class trim/ models produces more hp from the same engine as in C class. To me this indicates that Mercedes does not consider base trim as significant. The combo of touch pad and rotary wheel for central control is not ergonomicaly designed. It causes wrist pain if you have to scroll through long list of songs/album through rotary wheel and trying to avoid input from touch pad right on top of it. it helps to have controller pad on steering wheels but they dont work with CarPlay or android auto. The two screen design looks cool but the position makes it harder to see left 1/3 of central screen when you have hands of steering wheel . I cant even see all the menus/icon on left side of the screen specially in CarPlay mode.It also does not help that its not a touch screen like in Volvo S90 or bow 530 . BMW and Volvo also comes with 3 year complimentary maintain program where as Mercedes does not. Some features are not even available on Mercedes like Active Grille, Touch screen for central information system or wireless Apple car play. There is cost cutting apparent from poor sun glass holder that cannot accommodate for bigger Aviator style sun glasses and lack of any padding over the edge of thigh extension in front seats .So in long journey it pushes against your leg and that area is not heated as well. E class is louder inside compare to standard 530 I or Volvo S 90, you have to pay extra for acoustic comfort package to make car quieter inside . There are asymmetric design present in cabinet for example why didnt they make driving mode selector and volume roller same style/ texture if they are on apposite side of central control unit .There are 3 steering mount control stick on Left and 1 on right side. Mercedes cramped windshield wiper control, cruise control and steering adjustment as well as steering wheel heating control on Left side of steering. It requiring very long time to learn all the controls. The steering wheel does not seems to be in center bceause there is not much room for your thigh on Right side compare to left and it becomes uncomfortable during long journey. I live in cold winter area and even after spending 6500 on premium 2 package that gives me rapid heating for front seats, 450 on heated and ventilated front seats and 1320 for active / massaging front seat I have to pay extra for heated Rear seats. Where as in BMW 530 you dont have to pay as much to get rear seat heating .

Can you believe that there is no CD player in my 2018 E43AMG. They had no reasonable answer but told me that there were other techie things to use. That means I have to buy some additional electronic, but I want to listen to a book or a music disk. I don't want to have to transfer the tracks to a stick. Really dumb. Also the auto stop/start does not afford one the ability to turn it off and leave it off. You have to push the button each time you start the car. Every other car maker allows the driver (owner) to make this decision. It is so annoying it would have been a deal-breaker had I known that ahead of time.

Don’t buy this car! I’m a 20+ year owner of MB vehicles. This is an abysmal excuse for that brand and should be taken off the market. Why? I’ve had 5 flat tires on the so-called run-flat tires from hitting routine potholes in the Chicagoland area, more than all my other vehicles combined in >35 years driving. The suspension stinks. Every bump is magnified. The flimsy aluminum hood bent from a 5 mph “touch impact” in a parking lot and cost $5,000 to repair. The electronics require a PhD to navigate and my center screen has never functioned well. I urge all discerning consumers to stay away. Far, far away...
