I picked up this brand new left over (2017) E550. It has the $10,400 package and it's black on black with sport seats, AMG appointments, etc. Dealer gave me $20,000 off being a leftover. Full warranty. My mechanic said to me how much? But the car! This car is fast, aggressive yet subtle. Handles great and is quiet and smooth. If you put it in sport it's just ridiculous. I've had it for 2 weeks and LOVE this car. Coming from a 2011 E350, which I loved...this is just pure fun. Hard to beat a twin turbo 4.7 V8!

Overall, a Great Car to Drive

Due to the vagaries of car leases, I had a 2012 Audi A7 and a 2014 MB E350 Sedan before purchasing this 2016 E400 Coupe. The coupe is more my style and I rarely need to put people in the rear seat. While it's smaller than the E Sedan, it's still a midsize car. The differences between the 2014 and 2016 model years are mostly subtle, except for the engine, but significant. First, the E400's bi-turbo V6 is excellent with no acceleration lag and excellent torque at any speed. One of my biggest dislikes about the E350 was the low end accelerator lag. That is gone and acceleration is strong from the start with no hesitation. This engine sounds great, too. Gas mileage is very good for this type of car. I took a cross-country trip and got 29 mpg on the mostly highway drive. The car feels more solid and quieter than the 2014, but that's hard to quantify. The seats feel more comfortable, and they are great for a multi-hour drive. M-B made some changes to the buttons and controls on the console that made good sense. The entertainment system/navigation system is a little quicker to control than before. The quality of the directions is just okay. It sometimes wants me to route me in stupid ways that would add time to my trip. Driving through Phoenix, it wanted me to get on and off on every exit. But, usually it gets me where I want to go. The interior is very attractive. I was disappointed that the coupe loses the door lighting found in the sedan. It makes the cockpit a friendlier place at night. My interior, red Napa in a black cockpit with a black headliner is stunning. I've heard it said that the cockpit is a little old school in looks. Maybe so, but it still looks great. Very good materials and the placement of buttons and other controls is very good. The exterior looks excellent. I personally feel it is a great-looking car and I have no complaints in that department. For 2016, M-B added rotating headlights and retracting mirrors, both very good features. I like the safety features, too. The side view alert works well, as does the backup camera. The Nav display, by the way, is high def compared to the display in the 2014. The only feature I don't like is the way the panoramic roof was implemented. The glass may absorb UV and block heat, but the retractable net is not sufficiently opaque. It's the same netting material M-B uses for the rear sunshade. It's okay for that application, but overhead, it allows in too much sun. I've resorted to wearing a baseball cap in the car once or twice when it bothered me. I would rather that M-B included the 360 degree camera (in the Premium 3) package instead of the panoramic roof. They say the rear seat passengers enjoy it, but when you buy a coupe, you don't expect a lot of people sitting in the rear seat. If you did, you would buy a sedan. It's a fun car to drive. While not a sports car, the handling and the car are both solid and sitting in that cockpit is a fun place to be.

I bought this car used (off lease). Three years old with 9500 miles. I've driven almost 2000 miles now. It has the Premium 2 option package. The adaptive headlights are amazing...they dim/lower at just the moment I would do manually I have to admit that I thought the high beams didn't work when I first tried to use them. It takes a couple seconds for the system to assess it's surroundings before it will bring the high beams up. I flicked the lever, nothing happened. Flicked it back, then on...you get the picture. If I'd just left it alone for a few seconds it would have worked fine. And they work fine! The automatic wipers are perfect. I was sitting at a stop light during a very light drizzle thinking "I should run the wipers..." and the car ran the wipers. So much better than the ones on my wife's 2014 ML350. I drive the car pretty gently. I have a 20 mile commute; half stop and go half 50 MPH two lane road. I've averaged just over 28 MPG for the last two tanks. I did one short stint of 60 MPH and got 34 MPG. Amazing! Rest assured that when you want to fast, it will. The seat feels very hard at first (it's thin and ventilated which tends to make the cushion feel stiff). However, it has so many adjustments that seat becomes very comfortable. The heated "neck curtain" is wonderful. You don't need to put the top down to enjoy it. Put it on everything in the Mercedes line up. This is probably my wife's favorite feature. Downsides: Virtually impossible to find an e400 with option package 3 (adaptive cruise control). This car was $70,000+ new and you can't get adaptive cruise control? I suppose you could order it but I looked for months and could only find it on the e550s. Chrysler 300s costing half as much have it standard. For some reason Mercedes doesn't seem to like heated steering wheels. I could understand if they said "Who needs this in a convertible?" but this seems to be company wide aversion. Here's a clue: Your customers tend to be more on the mature side. Some of us have already started having arthritis symptoms in their hands. Heated steering wheels are really nice! My four year old Ram pickup has it! The ME app. I've had the car two months and Mercedes can't seem to get the thing to work. Among other things would be the ability to remote start the car with my phone. Why on earth do I need an app (that expires in a year and a half) for that? I've made nine calls to Mercedes and talked to three different departments. I've reloaded the app four times. Still doesn't work. Again...cars that cost half as much have this and we don't need an app (with future fees) to make it work. Summary: For the price of a new, fully loaded Camry (a soulless car) I got an e400 convertible with only 9500 miles on it. Let me assure you: this is no Camry. This car is awesome!

with this car, meaning it now has about 5,000 on the odometer. I got 30 MPG with a mean speed of 62 MPH, which I was surprised, and pleased with. I cruise around 75 so the in-between stuff brought down the speed. The phone blue tooth is very clear. The transmission quite smooth. It's a heck of a nice car for the money. I do admit to being concerned about maintenance costs. Time will tell. Overall very pleased with the vehicle thus far.

ride, fit, finish, is great!!! Cost of general mantenance is high, but a necessary evil . Dealership reps. sales, ect are very personable and answer all questions Front end sets low as a result you must watch out for the tire bump stop in parking lots, not to drive over them I did and it grabbed the lower spoiler tore it up, bent left fender bolth needed to be replaced. So now I turn on the camera before I drive up to the stops
