Oil pump problems
Listen in the morning at start up for a whining noise. it is the oil Pump because very few mechanics change the front of the trans oil, there are two oil plug for the transmission. Mercedes will replace the oil pump even the vehicle is out of warranty because they know there is a problem . 06 and 07 E350 .
Mercedes does NOT stand behind their products
Its a great car but this year model has too many problems. Mercedes does not stand behind their cars. I had to replace the balance shaft which cost me $4,500 because Mercedes made a design flaw. They eventually had a class action law suite succeed but they refused to fix my car. There was also a recall on the brake pump , again they refused to honor the recall saying they could not get the correct code. 1 year later I had a catastrophic brake failure on the high way. Again they refused to fix it even though there was a recall. I called Mercedes headquarters in New Jersey, they again refused to honor there recall. I am very disappointed in Mercedes Benz, it appears all they want is your money but do not stand behind there products.

Very disapointed with Mercedes E350 2006 4matic
I bought this card 1 year and 3 month ago for 9300. dollars. took it to the dealer for check-up, they did not find much wrong with it except for about 1100.00 dollars worth of work. I did the repairs to put it in tip-top shape. Thinking Mercedes has the reputation to last. The car was running well, looks in perfect condition and was running well, 86,000 miles when I bought it. I expect to have repairs with a used car, but not powertrain problem with a Mercedes at 92,000 miles and computer issues. The car has a lot of computer issues that controls everything. The transmission would not upshift pass third gear and the check engine light comes on and the rpm revs up, but it would not pass 35 miles. My mechanic said the computer card that controls the transmission needs to be replaced, it cost 1800.00 to fix. I have seen a lot of reviews with other people having the same problem and Mercedes won't fix it. As a matter of fact, lots of people appear to have problem with the engine also which cost even more. My last Ford explorer had 140,000 miles and no problem with the engine or the transmission. My advice , Buy American Cars. Mercedes is not what it used to be. There is only a reputation left.

You had me with the test drive
This is truly a driving machine. I will never buy another brand again. This is my second benz and believe me...it is top of the line. City driving stinks but on the highway it is fuel friendly. If you love a smooth ride with Lux, this is the car for you...smooth riding my friend.
7-speed transmission problems
I've owned 6 MB's in the last 28 years, they've all been reliable cars. Last year, I purchased a CPO 2006 E350 with 37,000 mi and an extended warranty. Thank God I purchased the warranty! Within six months a major oil leak had to be repaired on the engine and an interior trim piece on the center console pealed off; not so bad. Two days ago, I was driving and the transmission bumped hard down shifting from 2nd to 1st gear. When I drove off, it would not shift out of 1st gear. Had it towed to my dealer. They called today and said there was dark foreign fluid in the transmission fluid, that an interior part had failed and the transmission would need to be rebuilt or replaced. Not amused!
First Mercedes-Benz
I'm used to the comfortable hohum driving experieces of Japanese cars. For a long time I've driven Lexus, but decided I wanted something fun to drive, comfortable, safe, and powerful. This car fit the description almost perfectly. I got the AWD model for Connecticut's uncertain winters. The car begs to be driven fast. You can fine tune your suspension from comfort to sport which ever you desire. A deterent for German cars seem to be its terrible reliability, so far nothing yet! We'll see how the rest of the year progesses. It's nice to have the only one , the car turns heads all over. The vehicle was equipped with the premium and appearance packages, electric trunk closer, wood steering wheel, and voice control.
Love this car!!!
I bought this car used with 92k and now has 102k. This thing is still like a new car. Best 8 grand ever spent.

Take Away This Lemon Please!!
This is my sixth Benz. All the rest where ok as far as dependability. This 2006 E350 4 matic has been nothing but trouble.I bought it 24 month and it has been in for service 16 times. 5 times for trany problems(leaks, shifting trouble, transfer case problems) 5 times for electrical troubles.(battery kept draining still cant find the problem three new batteries so far) Air bag trouble(2x) , steering rack leaks(2x) and the seat back panels had to be changer (they came loose) and the front power seats jammed 2X .MB is in the process of replacing the car (I am only paying for mileage used) They treat good customers well. First time buyer would have a problem (Lawyer Time )
Got Transmission?
I am compelled to write a review on this car after a year and a half of ownership because it has been a series of non-stop transmission problems which Mercedez cannot seem to fix. I do not know if they have fixed the 2007 model but you really need to thoroughly test-drive this car and ask around. Also, the back tires needed replacement after just 20,000 miles which seemed a little too soon. This car also has a totally unusable cup holder, something you think is just a small thing but turns out to be huge for us commuters. I am thoroughly disappointed in my $70,000 purchase and wish I had stayed with a Lexus, a car I thoroughly enjoyed for ten years.
Bad transmission for 2006 4matic
My 06 is currently under MB Manufactures warrantee and I have been fighting with MB to replace my faulty transmission. At 28 mph, it skips. MB tells me there is nothing wrong and this is normal performance!!!! I am filing complaints with every agency. I paid an extra $2k for my extended warrantee when I bought my certified used MB and MB will not fix this!!!! I would NEVER buy this car!!!!!
Disappointing!!!
Between my ex-wife and myself, my ‘06 E350 is my fifth MB. This was a one owner with 82K miles and all the service done at the dealer. I purchased it as a backup for my ‘00 Lexus LX470 (the luxury version of the Land Cruiser) with 315k miles. Over the past 24 months the e350 has cost 3x in maintenance as the LX. This includes a valve body for the transmission ($2.6k) plus an intake manifold ($1k). During this period, the Benz sat in the garage 12 months :-(. Although I love the way it drives, this most likely will be my last Mercedes. My mechanic cautioned me that the newer models are more expensive to repair. Since I’ll most likely be living on a fixed income at this time, this assumes I can squeeze eight more years out of the Benz, I will play it safe and opt for reliability (LS600).

A Religious Experience
I traded in my 07 Mustang for this because it was an amazing steal. One word describes this car: heavenly. I can't stop staring at it; 10 years down the road it will be just as elegant and refined as it is today. The ride is amazingly smooth, you can hit potholes at 40mph and hear them but not feel them. The sound system is impeccable and the controls easy to use if a bit distant from your hand. The V8 is the most finely tuned I've ever seen-easy to control yet quick to please. AWD is amazing yet does not sacrifice handling as so many others do. Gas mileage is awful but is to be expected and no worse than any SUV. The controls are in the oddest places and are sometimes hard to fathom.
Nothing but problems
When it comes to reliability my 2006 E350 was the worst car I’ve ever owned. I bought the car new and for the first six months it was great. Then everything started to go wrong. Transmission problems, electrical problems, oil leaks, fuel leaks etc. I had the car for about two years and was never more happy to get rid of it

2006 E350 with 48k miles
Bought my very first MB. got a great deal on a 2006 e350 RWD with 48k miles original in May of 2017... this car is amazing. but when something brakes it can brake your wallet. if you can work on it yourself or find a local mechanic it can be worth it. I also own a Lexus ES and would rather recommend that over this Mercedes. Just know the 06 e350 has a major motor issue. I was able to sell mine and get my money back for what I paid for it.

What a Lemon
Bought it 6/29. At 1000 miles, notification of airbag malfunction. Mercedes tells me not to drive it for safety. 600 miles after it got fixed, another notification of airbag malfunction. Mercedes has too many electrical problems. Never had problems with any of my Japan made cars (Lexus, Infiniti).
Disappointment for the Price
This is my second E class, I had a '98 E320, wish I could get it back. The car is beautiful, rides nice. Radio and CD player failed in first month. Car has been in 4 times for transmission problems, every fix makes it worse. Avoid any Mercedes with the 7speed. My '84 Ford Tempo had a better quality transmission. Car slam shifts between gears. I had to stop drinking coffee on the way to work to stop the stains in the carpet from the spills the car jerks so hard when it shifts. We were about to buy my wife an R class until I found out it had the 7 speed. I am currently considering pursuing Lemon Law remedy. Oh by the way the car doesn't even come with all seasons, I had to spend $1,000 on snows.
The Last Days of Mercedes
The E350 is chintzy. It manfiests the dreadful consequences of the abominable decision MB made in the early 1990's consciously to debase the quality of the fine automobiles on whose splendid engineering and construction MB's century-old reputation had been built. Those of us who knew the quality that once epitomized MB can tell the difference with but a moment's inpsection. The car has 2 batteries to support needless electronic junk; one battery has already failed. There is a bicycle spare tire. The barely used radio produces an echo sounding like crows cawing in the background. Just touching the "bumper" to a sleeping cat can cost $300. The Mercedes Benz we knew belongs to the ages.

Consumer Reports was right
We were undecided between Lexus and MB,decided to go with an e350 with only 17000 miles. This car has the smoothest ride of any vehicle we've owned, including BMW. The problem has been with reliability-my car has been in the shop 5 times,I am currently in a loaner. Ranging from minor electrical problems to motor mounts. I am officially done! The dealership has been great and everything is under warranty. My wife is reluctant to get rid of the car because of the ride and appearance but this car has consumed to much of time!
Great car. But poor engine quality
Love this car, great cruiser, comfortable, great mileage and power. BUT, Mercedes has delivered a car with a poorly designed engine. At 62K, I got check engine light and taking to the dealer was informed that I have to replace the balance shaft of my engine for a cost of close to $6K. According to the advisor and validated by the many articles you can find on the web. Mercedes, E350 engine (this affects E350, ML350 and many other C class cars using the same engine) was built using a balance shaft that was not tempered properly. This affects 10% to 15% of the cars between 2006 and 2007 Worst of all Mercedes will not stand behind the poorly manufactured engine !!!
E350 review
Overall very good car. But has some quality issues that I would not expect in a $50k car. Driver seat squeaks (had to take twice to dealership), screws in plate holder became loose. A/C is noisy, fan in auto mode seems stuck in position 5. Had it checked, MB said it was normal. Other than that, is it a comformtable sedan with a spacious trunk. Engine is powerful with great gas mileage. You can easily get 26 MPG in freeway driving.
Tough choice
Coming off a 2002 BMW530i, looking at BMW 530ix, Audi A6, and MB 3504M. Tough call. But the BMW was pricey and had awful interior controls, even after I got used to the exterior. The Audi was loaded with features and good looking but a mushy drive. I hesitated for months, finally settling on the MB. Drove it in a big snow yesterday. I have to say I would get another in a heartbeat. Classic look, great interior, wonderful drive. The drive is not as crisp as my BMW, but close. I enjoy the slightly more luxury feel more than I anticipated. Hey BMW, it has cup holders! If you are debating these three, go MB...
My 5th E-Class Mercedes
Snappy performance. Sportscar handling, Nice fuel economy. Bose sound system and satellite radio make for wonderful cruising on a trip.
So far so good.
I just got my 2006 E350 4Matic and so far, things are going great. I love the power shade, the quality of the standard stereo system, and the integrated 6 disk changer. The 4matic seems to have a little trouble choosing gears but that may by own perception. I love the distinguished look of the car and the maturity level it portrays since I'm only 28 and use the car mostly for business.
Great car
Overall a fantastic car! The ride is smooth, yet without the disconnected feel. Whatever you do, get vented seats! Navigation kinda dumb sometimes when it comes to choosing the best route. Love the multi-language option. Engine is powerful enough. 7 speed transmission is a disaster. Downshift takes too much time, you really need to floor it to get "instant" shift. I'm used to driving a stick, automatic has always been a drag for me. Gas mileage stinks. I get about 20 avg reading on the highway, vs. advertised 27. Breaks work brilliantly. Sound system has a weird frequency response curve, the louder you make it, the less highs you hear, and the mid sticks out like a sore thumb. Fast!
Can't go wrong
This car has made driving fun again. Great handling, firm solid feeling, and an excellent build quality. After driving BMW and Lexus, there was no comparison to the overall driving experience. Better than advertised fuel economy. Only complaint is a some what noisy HVAC system.
E350 is beyond comparison!
It may sound cliche (and downright corney) but the new Mercedes E350 *IS* the most comfortable, well-built and safety minded car in its class. I have owned a BMW 325 and an Infinity I-class and this vehicle blows away the competition. The ride cannot be described. Quiet, fast when required and a feeling of complete safety. The vehicle is very responsive without feeling mushy like many of the Japanese competitors. Try one!
Best Car for the Buck
This being my first MB I will focus on my reaction to car now that I have owned it for a month. All I can say is wow. What a nicely built, very solid, comfortable and fun to drive car. I test drove, BMW, Audi, Volvo, Infiniti, Acura and some of the lesser import brands but the E350 is bar far the best mix off all. The stunner is when you push your foot down on the gas and the car hauls to 60 in less that 6.5 secs. Even better is when you hit a corner and there is 0 wheel squeal. Return the car to center at a cruising speed of 70 MPH and its sublime. Simply put, this car fits my image. A bit reserved, but push it and the wild side comes out, but returns to civility just as quickly.
Great Package
This new engine combined with the new 7- speed auto tranny provides brisk performance at any speed. The new tranny seem to be in the right gear at all times and pulls away without hesitation. Roomy and comfortable for long drives too. The layout of the speedo, tach and clock is a bit strange since you find yourself looking at the clock when you want the tach. There is also too much information in the middle part of the speedometer without any logical corollation. The NAV system is vastly improved and highly useful. This is our 7th Mercedes-Benz and so far so good.
On my second one
I'm on my second new generation E- class, the first one having been a 2003 model, the first year of its new profile. The 2006 now has a 6-speed automatic relative to the previous 4- speeed, and navigation, which was too new and not yet introduced to my previous car. They don't drive like BMWs, but when you drive 60+ miles a day, this is both fun and extremely comfortable, for your passengers too. Gear shifter seems more responsive than before, and that's not just because of the shorter gear ratios.
Love my Mercedes
This is the second Mercedes I have owned over the past 5 years. I switched to Acura for a while. The new E350 class is spectacular with the higher horse power (268) over the old 320. I had a S class and was disappointed that they hadn't changed in the last 5 years and went for the new E this time. It is loaded with lots of toys and i highly recommend the integrated SIRIUS satellite radio. Perhaps the best features of this car have to do with how others look at you while you are driving it. I got a special paint, Bordeux Red and it is very sharp and an eye turner. Overall I am very happy with the car and enjoy driving it alot.
Fun to drive
We took European delivery of our E350. We drove 2100 miles without a hitch. Best car I ever purchased. Car drives like a dream at 100mph plus, yet can be driven gently around town and will please you equally. Ergonomic controls are great. Dynamic seats are worth every penny! With 268 hp engine up from last year, why buy the E500?
Worth the wait
There is an obvious increase in power. The seven- speed transmission is silky smooth. The engine/ transmission can amazingly propel the car from a standstill in jet-like fasion. When accellerating, the car keeps moving forward without any hint of giving up, similar to taking off in a DC-10 or 727, the car shifts to where it never lets go of the forward momentum. Sometimes I could swear that the E350 is a V8, but when I seldom go to the gas station, I'm glad it's a V6. There's nothing extra special on the car that the E320 didn't have, beyond the addition of dynamic seats to the premium package. After looking at the Lexus GS, Jag S-type, & Audi A6, I have 0 second thoughts.
You need to get one
I purchased this car with 25,000 miles on it, former lease. Maybe I am easy to please, but this is one GREAT car. I paid just over HALF price of a $59,000 sticker, and get all of the bene's. Parktronic, which I NEVER would have chosed, Harmon audio, sunroof, etc. Love the auto door locks at 9 MPH, in dash NAV, rain sensitive wipers and Bi Xenon's. Trunk is spacious for golf clubs and 7 spoke wheels are easy to clean. Tires are low ENOUGH (245) profile, but not low enough to worry about potholes. The car drives heavy. It is not nimble. I would highly recommend for HWY, but not nec for City driving. My first MB, and my first used car ever in 25 years. I may nvr buy new again. Certified. Do it.
My E350
This car exceeds my expectations for comfort, performance, and reliability. The 7 speed auto provides great power at any rpm. The 6 cyl engine provides great fuel economy. The car has that solid German feel while remaining comfortable. I especially like the semi active suspension with its three settings. I feel safe when i'm driving this car.
Love this car!
This car drives like it is on air. Ride is very smooth and extremely quiet. Handles beautifully. Great safety features. Accelerates quickly and steadily.
Dissapointed
First and last Mercedes. In less than 2 years of ownership car had many major problems. AWD had to be repaired. Power Steering repaired, intermittent wiper replacement. At 25,000 mile service (which cost $600) was told tires were wearing and would need to be replaced soon! The transmission is sluggish .. going uphill it doesn't shift properly. Fairly noisy drive. Handling is good and interior comfortable. Trunk size is also good. AWD (when working) is great on icy roads. Overall will go back to BMW.
Wish I agreed
Sorry to say I can't agree with most of the E350-4M reviews. It has been back to the dealer 10 times mostly for electrical problems (oil level message, ESP/cruise failure but also incl 2 recalls). Nice ride, good fuel mi (27 hwy) and good performance but the reliability has been a nightmare. This was always my "one day I'll have a MB" - didn't do my normal comparison testing and am paying for it. If you want further quantification just check out the resale - dropped from $57k new to $37k in 14 mos!!
"KLASS E"
This is our second Mercedes. Our other one is a 2006 CLS55 AMG. I bought this E500 this May with the Sports Package as well as the Apperance Package. I love the Sports package with the dual exhaust, sports suspension, and high performance tires. I live in a wealthy town, and I see Mercedes all the time. I wanted mine to be & look different and it does. I am yet to see another E500 with the Sports Package. From my understanding, not alot were made for the 2006 model.
Abs Mess!
my 2006 E-class 350 has an issue with the ABS sensor going out. Seems to happen after a car washing. Wheels get wet, sensor goes out! W T F! Luckily Mercedes has been sued over this issue and have to fix it at no cost FYI

The Reliabel E-350
I am very satisfied with the performance of my Benz
Lemon
Great looking car, but one of the worst I have owned as far as reliability and quality. In six months, this car has been in the shop 6 times, burning oil, engine replaced, air bag malfuncation, etc. This car makes we wish I had bought the ACURA RL.....no wonder the Mercedes CEO was fired...go elsewhere for quality.
Off lease purchase
Just purchases this 350E AWD w/17200 miles on it. Beautiful vehicle. My 4th Mercedes. No complaints on vehicle purchase. Love the car. Whisper quiet on highway.
Amazing Drive
I have never gotten into a sedan and had this much fun driving it. This car combines luxury and sporty into the perfect blend. I would have never imagined paying this much for any car I would buy, but it is worth every cent. The 3 suspension settings give great control over your ride. The power is more than I will ever need (Got up to a 100 mph in a few sec. the other day without realizing it.) The fuel economy is pretty bad, but what do you expect from a car of this size with AWD and a V8. The transmission on this car is so smooth that I never know when it shifts gears. Finally, the luxury features are amazing. I highly recommend it, if you want to spend in this price range.
Great car
I have had this car almost two years, bought it MB certified but have had zero problems with it. Driven on on trips, heavy traffic, everything and the car handles it all. Was even great in the snow last winter. Highly recommended.
Tomm's E-Class
This is my 4th Mercedes and the best so far. The increased horsepower is terrific. The 7-Speed Auto Trans allows me to get the same mileage as I did with my 2003 E300. People love riding in my car and always comment on the smooth ride.
Wow, nice car
Picked this up as a MB certified used car and I am much impressed. On paper my wife's Acura RL should drive better, but it doesn't. This car is amazing and fun to drive when ask it to, while at the same time being ultr-lux when you want it to be. The 7 speed auto keeps the car in the highest torque zone in sport mode, and makes it feel like a much more powerful car. Great work, my first Benz, it won't be my last.
Back on top
This is a stellar automobile. It is just short of perfect, but then, nothing is. It has looks and power, comfort and safety. Biggest complaint: Improve the cupholders so that the driver can see and reach his readily. Keyless Go, Parkatron and GPS should be standard equipment.
Outstanding Automobile
The E350 is the perfect car for those who drive more than 25,000 miles yearly. This E truly lives up to the MB mystique. Fantastic ride, build quality, and exterior styling.
No Complaints-Great Buy
I bought this car off Ebay from a non-MB dealer Dec 28, 2008. Car had 29K miles. Still has balance of warranty. This car has a build date of March 07. I'm guessing whatever problem history the 06 E350 4matic had was cleared up by the time mine was built. Car performs well and has been reliable since day one. Paint, fit & finish is exceptional. Like the all black look. Paid less than $20K for the car because the market is in the tank and I smile every second behind the wheel knowing my brother-in-law paid more for a 06 Toyota Avalon. I kept my other car a '94 E320 that I've had for 12 years with 100K miles because I just can't part with it. No complaints with this E350 4Matic!!
