Transmission problems
Love the car except for the transmission. Rough downshifting. The dealer has put in tow new transmissions (three in total) and the problem persists. This is the seven speed transmission that's throughout the Mercedes line. I'd stay away until they get it right. We're giving them back our car.
Wow, nice car
Picked this up as a MB certified used car and I am much impressed. On paper my wife's Acura RL should drive better, but it doesn't. This car is amazing and fun to drive when ask it to, while at the same time being ultr-lux when you want it to be. The 7 speed auto keeps the car in the highest torque zone in sport mode, and makes it feel like a much more powerful car. Great work, my first Benz, it won't be my last.

Back on top
This is a stellar automobile. It is just short of perfect, but then, nothing is. It has looks and power, comfort and safety. Biggest complaint: Improve the cupholders so that the driver can see and reach his readily. Keyless Go, Parkatron and GPS should be standard equipment.
2006 E320 CDI
I did a lot of research and realized that the I-6 CDI motor was one for the ages. Iron block, naturally balanced, dependable and durable. I had to purchase a "pre-owned" 2006 since I live in the great state of California. I arrived and I could not be happier. My father has owned many MB cars over the years, this CDI is as close to a perfect car as he and I can imagine. It is the perfect size, seats 5, it has outstanding acceleration and curising speed capability and I got 35 MPG over a 226 mile trip (including several acceleration runs). On that 226 mile trip I used just a smidge over 1/4 of the tank. The range left is 400 miles. I am looking forward to this car for years to come.
Have lost confidence in car and dealer
Great car, except for electrical problems. Because the repair was not scheduled in advance, the dealer kept the car 1 week for repairs. I picked up the car and drove it three blocks from the dealer and the same electrical problems, lights and cruise control, ESP lights were back on showing, see the workshop for repairs. The car stayed at the dealer for 1 more week before it was fixed. I have driven it 500 miles and everything seems to be OK. I know my confidence in the car is not what it was two months ago. Not sure if I will ever purchase another Mercedes Benz.
No Complaints-Great Buy
I bought this car off Ebay from a non-MB dealer Dec 28, 2008. Car had 29K miles. Still has balance of warranty. This car has a build date of March 07. I'm guessing whatever problem history the 06 E350 4matic had was cleared up by the time mine was built. Car performs well and has been reliable since day one. Paint, fit & finish is exceptional. Like the all black look. Paid less than $20K for the car because the market is in the tank and I smile every second behind the wheel knowing my brother-in-law paid more for a 06 Toyota Avalon. I kept my other car a '94 E320 that I've had for 12 years with 100K miles because I just can't part with it. No complaints with this E350 4Matic!!
E320 vs E350
I traded my 2000 E320 i for a 2004 E320 about 14 months ago. Loved all the new styling, etc. About 3 weeks ago I was rear ended at about 60 MPH. Walked away with just minor injuries. Picked up my new E350 last week and WOW! The new engine and 7 speed transmision completly changed the character of the car. Now you get all the comfort and safety along with a engine that does the rest of the car justice. Who would think 51HP would make such a difference and the extra lower 1st gear makes it snap right off the line. If you are a E-Class junkie like me or thinking of a new luxury sedan, you owe it to yourself to look the the E-350!!!
E55 AMG the best perfomance sedan
I have owned BMW M5, Porsche 911 Turbo and I thought they were great. I love the way my new E55 drives, I love how fast it is and how well it handles. I think the 911 Turbo I had was one of the best handling car, but this E55 it's up there and it has room for 5. . It is a shame when you have some one pull up to you in a new Corvette and you leave them behind.

Love the car
This is my second E-model turbo diesel. I was happy with the trade on my E- 300TD. This E320 CDI exceeded my expectations for overall quality and roadability. There are a few options I feel should come with the car but all in all I feel its a 9.5.
First Mercedes owned
This is the first Mercedes I have purchased. Safety is a must and this car has it all. Comfort is 2nd. Well built, very impressive. Don't ever make it cheap. The buyer will never come back.
The Chariot
This is my first Mercedes Benz, a car I have wanted since high school. I can honestly say it is everything I thought it would be. When you drive past people, heads turn and you get the feeling you're driving something special. My model is the E350, very similar to the E320, but I believe with a bigger engine. The luxury and comfort are something one can only experience to appreciate. My salesman told me, once you own and drive one, you will never want to own and drive any other car. He was right, (but I think I kind of already knew that.)
Schaller's E350 Review
I bought this vehicle, having owned a 2003 BMW 530i which I loved. My wife loved the MB even more so I purchased it for her. I've come to like the MB even more than the BMW primarily because it feels more refined. Even the passenger compartment, although not much larger than the BMW, feels significantly larger. I still think the BMW handles better but the MB is no slouch. I do wish MB had the same no cost (for 4 years) maintenance package the BMW came with. In closing, I would buy the vehicle again!
Nav system is an antique
The E320 CDI is very fuel efficient and fun to drive, but the transmission has occassional problems. Slipping during takeoff which my dealer says is normal. Styling is rather bland. Seats could stand to be a little more comfortable. The lumbar support should be power and easier to reach. My biggest complaint is the antique nav system. Somebody must have bought these on a $59 closeout. Charging $2900 for this system should be a felony. It's an unbelievably antiquated system with few features, no touch screen, and no voice command. Also there's no bluetooth unless you buy their phone. I own a 2007 Toyota Camry that blows this car away with superior luxury features. Sorry MB, you need to catch up
My second new turbo diesel
My previous E-300 (99) was driven 87000 relatively perfect except for a ew electrical glitches and bad window carriage interior hardware. This CDI model gets better fuel mileage, is quieter and is more comfortable. All over I'd rate it a 9.8. I wish it had 4- matic, but I was told that it was not available in the CDI model. The worse single feature is the radio/cd which can't hold a candle to the system in my 1999 model. Kardon vs Bose...
It Will Save Your Life!
Faster than a speeding bullet. Finest ride in the world. This Mercedes truly lives up to what the Europeans say: There's Mercedes and then there's the rest. It is safe, quiet. The diesel sounds sexier and quieter than a gas engine, and the turbo makes it faster. I pay 23 cents less a gallon than I do for BMW guzzling Z4 BMW. Buy this car, it will save your soul.
My CDI
I have owned diesels since 1977, starting with a 240 d. I managed to get a used (9000miles) CDI from my local dealer last month, they imported it from Ohio, because they can't sell diesels in Calif. The car is great except for the electronics. After having the car for only 2 weeks, the battery warning light came on, and it had to go back to the dealer because of a faulty sensor. We have had the same trouble with our 99 E430. Apart from this the car is great. Its difficult to get the 27 mpg in the city though
Luxury Car Experienced Owner
This was my second MB (C320 first), after owning 4 BMWs (740, 328, M3, 325), 1 Lexus (GS), and a RRover. I've always loved BMWs because they are fun to drive, but this MB has the cornering, performance and stability I loved in my BMWs plus the gorgeous design, interior comfort and luxury that BMW has been sorely lacking. The car is spacious, both in length and width. The commands are well positioned (seat adjust. on doors) and there are plenty of compartments. Fuel efficiency is fairly superior to an engine of its size. As a woman driver, this car provides m invaluable safety peace of mind; if breakdown occurs, unlimited roadside assistance is a push of a button away.
What a great car
I never thought I would own a Mercedes. I always felt they were and old person's car. This CDI as a lot of power. I drove from south Jersey to 20 miles from Georgia on one tank of fuel. I bet I could have made it to Georgia. I lease the car and the only way I will not buy it after the lease is if Mercedes puts that motor in its S class.
I love it!
I love my E 350 Benz! It's not just a car, it's an experience...every day! I look forward to the time I spend in it as it lends an escape to comfort. And when you're talking about performance...as far as I'm concerned the "E" stands for excellence!
Great Car
We previosly owned 4 MLs, but it was time for a change. The car is fun to drive. The car has plenty of pick up. The interior space is very generous and the ride is great
First Class
This Mercedes E350AWD is true "class". We previously owned a BMW 5 series--- truly a great car, but, the Mercedes gives you the feel of more luxury.Yhe 6 cyl engine provides all the power you'll ever need. The interior space is very generous, and the ride is great.
Performance & 40mpg. Amazing CDI E320
An outstanding combination of class, performance, and economy! The E320 CDI has it all. The vehicle is a pleasure to drive. It produces massive torque at below 2000 rpm giving the sense of tremendous acceleration with almost no lag. Cruising with this vehicle at 75-80mph provides a solid feel of the road while producing almost 40mpg. The car loafs along at this speed and you can cruise for 3-4 hours at a time without tiring. The car handles well on country roads as well as interstates. While not a roadster, the car easily handles most curvey roads well. Better handling can be had if you install higher performance tires versus those the car is shipped with.
Don't Leave Home Without It!
There's a flaw in the stats: mine gets MORE gas mileage: 45 mph. The car rides like a dream but maneuvers like a sports car. Quiet and powerful. I formerly owner a Mercedes diesel 70's model and the problems were: slower than a gas engine, smelly and noisy. Not now: the Turbo Diesel is super fast, doesn't smell, and is quiet as a church mouse. Listen to your doctor: Buy this car! Miami to Atlanta on 1 tank!
Best Diesel
Best diesel I've owned. 750-800 miles to a tank. Great for a salesman, but wish the wagon was available.
Mercedes E320 CDI
Recently drove from FL to RI and averaged 36mpg. Very quiet and very powerful. Average around town and in the city is 25. I have been running bio-diesel so it is even more ecologically minded.
Great Ride
Comfortable ride, steering is a little loose but this is not a sport model. We bought this car as a turned-in- lease with 41K miles, we paid a third of the sticker price new, it is a certified used which extends the warranty to 100K. Overall I like this car, however I would never pay $60K for this car new, it just is not worth it, for $20,000 it's great!
Great car
Lease was up on ML500 and I wanted something with space and fuel economy. With fold down rear seat and large trunk this was the car. I have averaged right at 30mpg and it drives great. Very quiet. Much quieter than my wife's 2005 Audi A8.
Outstanding
We are delighted with our purchase. Picked up in a snow storm; drove for 5 hours in less than pleasant conditions; unually comfortable and very stable in difficult conditions. Quality of workmanship superb.
Happy New Owner
Recently purchased. Car was built in Stuttgart (Sindelfingen) in April '05. The new M272 engine (3.5 ltr V6) is a dream. Together with the 7 speed auto gearbox it has power to spare at any speed. Fuel economy is also good, I guess the 7 speed auto gearbox is one of the mean reasons (at 70 mph only 2100 rpm...) It also has the appearance package with airmatic DC suspension. On the roads around Houston with a lot of uneven road surfaces it just swollows it with ease, while giving excellent cornering capability due to the dynamic control. Really do not need to buy the E500, this car has it all, a dream to drive. This car was built by engineers who succeeded in building one of the finest cars around.
Best Sedan
This absolutely the best driving sedan I have ever purchased. The CDI is a awsome engine. On highway driving 85mph, I am still getting 35mpg, and in the city I am getting 24mpg, but again I have a lead foot!
E320 CDI Rocks
Have owned BWM, Volkswagen, and Volvo vehicles. This MB is by far the best in terms of build qulity, ride, and engineering. This is my first diesel, so I'm hoping for a huge improvement over my current SUV (16 mpg). The design is timeless and the car feels like it will go hundreds of thousands of miles.
First Mercedes after a BMW 3-series
The Mercedes E350 wasn't my first choice for a midsize car. After driving a BMW 3-series for 6 yrs, my obvious choice was a 5-series. The 5-series design is ugly and I-drive is terrible, car was more nimble and fun to drive than an E350. Definitely a beautiful car that turns people's heads.
The best
This car is amazing and it is fast for a diesel. The E class is also nice in the interior. The gas mileage is suprising for a Mercedes Benz of any kind, let alone the E class
Happy!
The greatest car on earth, really. I don't work for Mercedes-Benz, I am just a really pleased and happy owner. Have not had one problem even though I thought I would have many, but I was suprised. Some friends have an E- class, and they haven't had any problems too!
Love to drive my Mercedes
I drove my E350 960 miles one way. I got 30.9 miles per gallon. It gave me the pickup I needed to pass at 60 or 70 miles per hour. This car is great. I love it and wouldn't want another car.
My Mercedes Turbo Diesel
Luxury car, hot rod performance, and great fuel mileage, sounds like an oxymoron, but it's true. This car will effortlessly out accelerate many so called high performance cars to 60 mph. Very comfortable inside with all the latest gizmos. Super sound system that rocks the car. Rear sunshade is great for those tall trucks with their headlights in your rear view. Lots of storage space. Folding rear seat option is great for those trips to the hme improvement sore. Navigation system is easy to use and the voice control system is a super feature for hands off operation of the Nav, CD, pone, stellite radio, etc.
Another Amazing Benz
What an amazing vehicle. = Picked up in Wisconsin and drove 630 miles back to Kansas in sheer comfort and style getting 27 mpg the whole way. Seven-speed transmission is as smooth as butter and the 268-hp engine provides ample passing power. Car is Platinum Blue over Ash leather and is downright stunning. This is my fourth MB. Currently have this and an '04 C230 Kompressor. I have also owned an E320 sedan and an E320 wagon.
Love it
This is my fourth Mercedes Benz car and by far the one I like most. I bought it for my wife as she wanted to downsize out of a Land Rover which was the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned (bought out of a lease 15 months ahead). The Mercedes has plenty of room for my three children and the best safety rating for a family sedan. We live in he north east so we opted for the 4- Matic AWD system. The overall look and feel of the car are fantastic. Plenty of power and a terrific ride quality and handling make it a pleasure to drive. The gas mileage is actually quite good for a large car with 270HP but and it is an enormous upgrade over the 9 MPG city we got in the truck.
Great Car!
I purchased this car with less than 13,000 miles (certified). Decided to add the extended warranty which extends coverage to 100k. Because of the lack luster economy I realized significant costs saving when I purchased this vehicle. This is a great Automobile! The ride is absolutely first rate and the safety features are without peer! My wife has a Lexus and there is a significant difference in handling and ride quality. I'm continuously complimented on the vehicle. This is my first MB! Definitely will not be my last. Simply put, this is the best automobile that I've ever owned!
A fine luxury sedan like it should be
Exterior Finish: Outstanding Performance: Excellent passing ability and on road performance is supberb. Interior: I especillay like the ultra quietness of the cabin and the comfort of the seats, a bit tight in the rear but the sculpted seats help my 6 foot 3 son find a comfortable space, quality workmanship and fine design (instruments and gadgets take a bit of practice) Engine: Ultra quiet and powerful, those few extra horses make the difference For the price, you have outstanding quality, power, performance, convenience, key safety features, security, electronic gadgetry that really works! A real driving/passenger pleaseing vehicle. An absolute winner and head turner. Thanks, MB
Fantastic Car
After owning 3 BMWs, I decided to give MB a shot. My switch was mostly driven by the fact that I needed an all wheel drive car, a feature that BMW had neglected for a while. My first Benz was a 2003 C320 W4 and I loved it. This year I decided to upgrade to an E- Class and I could not be happier. This is the first car that combines the level of cornering, torque, stability, that I loved about my BMWs, added to amazing agility and impeccable maneuvering. The luxurious quality interior is MB dignified. The sleek, but classic exterior is sure to turn heads. Although the price was steep, it was worth every penny.
My New E350
I traded my C320 in for this new E350, and could not be more happy. Outstanding performance and comfort is great. The new larger engine still gives great mileage also. I would recommend this vehicle to all in that market.
Comfortable ride
A pleasure to drive. The ride is smooth and soft. Engine is smooth and strong
BEST CAR EVER OWNED
I bought it with 4k miles on it. It has been a real joy driving and owing this car. Luxurious and powerful. I get a lot of compliments from people when they see the Panoramic sun roof.
E350 review
So far so good. We only have about 200 miles so far but a great lease price compared others in the category.
A really advanced car
Looked at all the Japanese cars like Acura RL and Infiniti M35. The E350, at first, seemed much less featured. This turns out not to be true. the car may lack voice activated features but it has everything else. Love the cruise control which actually brakes the car when you slow the car down. Would highly recommend the car.
High end MB with low end econobox milage
Great build quality, interior layout and handling. Quiet engine, as well as wind noise at high speed due to high tech diesel and .27 drag coef. Handling is best I've seen in a 4000lb sedan with road tests give it a .84 skid pad rating.. With 17" 245/45 wheels/tires it almost handles like a sports car. I am getting over 40 mpg consistently at speed over 70mph in freeway milage.. amazing.
CDI is way to go
The CDI at 34 mpg on my last 3600 mile road trip can't be beat. I do miss a middle armrest but the distronic seats make up for it. The car is fast. I do find the Harmon Kardon radio a tad less bass capable than I like
What a buy
This car is the best highway cruiser I ever had. After 53 cars, its smooth and except for tire noise it is very quiet. The tire noise will be fixed with non high energy tires. My mpg is 30. The suspension is controlled but stable and conforming without being hard or soft.
