I have had the luxury of owning just about 15 different types of luxury and performance type vehicles and this new CLS 500 gives you the best of both worlds. This car handles like a great sports car should and has the quiet smooth ride you would find in a luxury sedan. I get loads of complimeents from everyone who has seen it.

CLS-500-A Real Beakthrough

The 2006 Mercedes is a true breakthrough automobile. In design, comfort and performance , the CLS 500 has broken some very exciting new ground. It drives like a sports car, has the comfort of a much larger model, and performs admirably in all driving situations. The rear seating area is actually quite comfortable. The only limitation is slope of the rear roof line does make entereing the rear comprtment more of a challenge than in other 4-door sedan models.s The interior is not quite up to the standards of Mercedes, butit is acceptable. I would recommend the vehicle to anyone interested in a unique driving experience. It is an excellent addition to the Mercedes line.

This is a very nice car. Did a very nice job in the interior with the leather stitching and beautiful wood. The seven speed transmission is good for fuel economy and its smooth. Big fat tires even without the sports package. Has ADSII a much better version of the semi air suspension compare to ADS.

I've been a Mercedes fan for years and have owned several of them. The CLS is the best one yet. Though E-based, it's a very different vehicle. It rides better, handles tighter, and is just simply heads above the E. Even the interior is an improvement. I traded in a new 2005 E320 for the CLS500 and do not miss the E at all. The other Mercedes sedans now look dowdy next to this one. I'm 6'4" and had heard the CLS lacked interior space. Up front, there's no problem for me. I can't sit in back of most vehicles and the CLS is no exception. The only problem I had was locating one with the color and equipment I wanted because there still aren't that many around.

I have owned my CLS500 only 3 months and love every minute I am inside of it. It drives like the smooth flow of the wind and feels like it too. Had 2 BMW525's before including the recent 2004 newbody style it was just a great drive. But CLS500 is a awesome car.

From the first day I took delivery, this car turns heads wherever I go. It has style and grace and is a true joy to drive. Worth every penny of the price. I have had three Mercedes in the past (450 SL, 300 D, 380SE) and this one is the best. It is a 4 door sports car. Handles better than my former C5 Corvette.

Mercedes' sexy cat (who would ever have dreamed. . .) purrs its way into your heart and loins in the first 20 seconds of road time. A Jaguar-killer. Drive feel is far more powerful than the engine stats suggest and has no hint of the E-class parts and staid chassis from which the car is supposedly derived. Probably the best fusion of sports car and sedan features ever achieved in an assembly line model. This is an exceptional car that Daimler Chrysler could sell for $20,000 - $40,000 more than it's listed for.

I was a bit apprehensive about buying a car its first year out, but there was a magnetism in this car that was irrestible. The sleek flowing lines literally drew me closer and as I heard the engine come to life under the hood as my salesman turned the key. It was as if this beautiful beast whispered to me, "COME AND TAKE ME NOW!" The seat hugged me as I sat in complete control cornering on the on-ramp to I-88 from Butterfield. The acceleration was a nice feel of torque and there was NO lag between the accelerator press and the engine response. I am in love.

Love the design, especially with AMG package. Very good acceleration and handling. Mercedes could have added the self-closing doors as in the S Class but otherwise a solid and quiet car. Navigation system much improved. Keyless Go is exciting. Have not had it out on the highway yet but look forward to an improved ride over the E Class.

I just received the CLS 500 as a gift from my parents, I'm 17, and I absoutly love it. Before this car I had the Volvo xc90 T6 AWD. After only driving SUV's and now having a sport coupe, I don't think i will go back. It is extremely easy to handle and you will definetly get noticed. With its sleek design people often mistake it for a 2- door coupe. In addition to its easy handling, its interior is very comfortable and practical for example its "in-ground" cup holders. They truly are what you might call "million dollar" cup holders becuase its simple...they can't break!!! But honsetly its an awesome car with a lot of thought, time and effort put into it.

To start with, this car is great!! With the obsidian black color and the nappa cashmere beige interior, it's outstanding! This car brings lots of attention and many tend to turn their heads when I drive by. I would say with a 6.2 0-60 you cant go wrong with it. It demands respect when on the highway. Not only is it fun to drive but its also great for the family. With 2 kids and a wife, it's great for me.

I knew this beautiful car was coming for about 2 years. When I finally saw it, I had to buy it. It is an amazing car in style & performance. Everyone notices it on the road & it has so many updates over the E320-4 matic I traded in. I did not want another boring looking M.B. I bought the "Launch Edition" which had a list price of $74,500. A limited # of them were produced.

It took only a trip around the block to realize that this car has the true response of a sports car, but the comfort of a sedan. The size is very adequate for taller people such as we are, but it manuevers with the response of a two seater roadster. We just LOVE IT.

If you don't like people coming up to you in parking lots or at the carwash to look at this car and ask about it, then don't buy it! Handles great, fun to drive and is very comfortable even for a 6'2" bigdog. Have had one service problem for a faulty seat belt restraint warning message but that was corrected. Overall very pleased with the vehicle!

I loved the S 430 I owned prior to trading for the CLS 500. I seldom had rear seat passengers, and wanted the comfort and performance of the S class. The CLS fit the bill perfectly. Great performance and handling, and a styling "tour de force." Highly recommend the car, but refrain if you have frequent need of rear seats for passengers. Space and comfort is OK, but entry and exit is challenging. Overall I give the car a 8 out of 10.

My last two cars have been BMW's, but I was turned off by the I-drive and wanted something new. I was captivated by the styling of this car, which is a depature from the norm for Mercedes. The fit and finish on the car are quite good and it handles like a dream. I was sold the minute I drove the car. Edmunds found the control interface to be "complicated," but it is far better than the I-drive from BMW. My only complaint is the lack of headroom. I am just six feet tall, but I have very little headroom in the front seats of the car. I am somewhat concerned about Mercedes' recent reputation for poor reliability, but only time will tell on that point.

I have driven this car 1600 miles from Springfield, MO to McAllen, TX and noticed many blind spots around the car that could cause me or my wife to have a car accident. Door jams are too wide, and windows are too small and narrow. Overall the car has poor visibility from the inside. The right hand mirror is obscured about one quarter by the passenger door jam.

I have never owned a vehicle that turns more heads than the CLS500. With its "E" class trunk and relatively long legs for a V8, it is a perfect blend as a true road trip car. Comfort, ease of operation (Unlike my previous BMW I Drive that took a computer programer just to go to the gas station) I opted for the NAV, Satellite radio and Tele-aid, all of which opertate perfectly and are very logically user friendly.

Mercedes customer service, when they answer the phone timely, has been poor and disapointing. I hope customer service gets new phone lines and Mercedes gets the bugs out of the car.

This car drives as great as it looks. Without a doubt, the finest looking car on the road today. It turns heads everywhere I go. As a long-time BMW driver, it took me awhile to get used to very touchy brakes and Mercedes handling, softer than I like from years of BMW driving. The CLS smokes the LS430's performance, and when it comes to styling, the Lexus has no business in the same sentence as the CLS. First time I've bought a car with keyless go- a great option, as is the satellite radio. Given the small windows, I'd recommend Parktronic as well.

I go through new cars every 6 months; this car might end up being my last one for a long time. I enjoy driving this more than all the other high end cars Ive ever owned. I just recently traded an 05 BMW M3 conv for this and Im thrilled I did. It has more guts than I expected and drives better than any other car I've owned. (except for my BMW 745IL which was delclared a lemon) had that for 3 months. I get so many compliments on the style of this car its unbelievable. Nothing else looks like it and Mercedes didnt duplicate it and make copies of different versions to beef up their sales like other manufactures did. The interior is tight for a larger person but being 5'8" its perfect!

I had heard that this car was not very well received. To look at it I found it hard to believe. I test drove it, and fell hard. While it could be a problem for 6ft 5 inch people in the back seat, there simply is nothing bad that can be said about this vehicle. The looks are stunning, the ride is silk lightning, and everything about it says....THE PERFECT CAR. I hope that Mercedes realizes what they have accomplished. They have taken back the lead from BMW with one quick stroke of genius. If you are looking for the perfect car, and are able to spend 75k, you cannot find anything better.

After being a Jaguar guy for over 10 years, It was time to move up the ladder to something better. I have been driving XJR's, and most recently the 2005 Super V8. And to the discredit of Jaguar, and the Service departments...I have moved on, and it has been to a better place. Mercedes Benz CLS 500. What a nice little rocket. Looks good on the street.I thought it was a car that stickered for well over $100,000 when I first saw it. Again, was I surprised. The interior is tight, and the seats are comfortable. The size is great for me, as an average size man, it fits me perfect. I couldn't imagine being over 6'3" and trying to slink into it. This car in black makes you want more. Yummy!

One need not wonder about the importance of this car to Mercedes and to the rest of the automobile world. Porsche is building a competitor as is Aston-Martin. All new Mercedes sedan pay homage to the style of this car. It is simply the best looking sedan on the road, inside and out. That is why Top Gear, an British automotive magazine recently picked it the best luxury car of 2006... better than Rolls, Maybach, and even the S Class. With the seven speed transmission, it not only is fast (5.5 sec. to 60; 155 top speed) but gets decent gas mileage (20-25 mpg) for a 4,000 lb. luxury sedan.

Mercedes has really created yet another piece of art with this machine. Not only does it look good, but handles like a charm and is very comfortable to drive. This car is also very well built. Not the usual creeks and rattles you can sometimes experience with a new car. This one stays solid and rides very smooth. One of the other great things is all the bells and wistles. Mercedes designed the CLS for buyers that wanted something more sporty than an E-Class but couldn't afford AMG series cars. Well, it seemed like they designed it just for me because as soon as I saw it, I wanted one. The car has style, plenty of horsepower and handles better than the E500. I was concerned about the low roofline thinking it would hinder visibility, but that has not been the case. The high performance tires are a little noisy, but not distracting. The jury is still out on the "reliability" category because the car is new. And finally, the CLS has decent cup holders in the front!

Having a bad experience with high-line Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the past 6 years, I was reluctant to even LOOK at this car; however its exterior styling is so compelling that it lured me in. Once in the cockpit, I was warmed by the comfort and ambiance of the interior layout, and thrilled at the throaty exhaust note. The car handles well, accelerates with exhiliration, and overall satisfies an enthusiast's lust for power and speed. It falls short on standard features for its lofty price, forsaking such things as the COMAND and navigation system, relegating them to the option list. Additionally, the paint is not up to M- B standards; too much orange-peel in the surface. Still, a good choice.
