Significant improvement in electric-only driving range
Added driver assist features
Part of the first Artura generation that debuted for 2023
Overview
Exotic car manufacturers are slowly introducing hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains to their vehicles. But unlike a Toyota Prius, these hybrid systems are more for performance than fuel economy. A great example is the 2025 McLaren Artura. A mid-engine two-seat coupe equipped with a plug-in hybrid electric powertrain, the Artura slots into the lineup beneath the 750S and is McLaren's most affordable model. And while it can travel up to an estimated 21 miles on electricity, the 2025 Artura delivers the thrilling performance you expect of a McLaren. The company says it rockets to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds and keeps going to a top speed of 205 mph.

Edmunds spotlight: All of the Artura's changes for 2025
The Artura gets several changes for 2025. Chief among them is a new Spider convertible. It has a retractable power-operated hardtop that the driver can lower in just 11 seconds. McLaren says the convertible weighs just 136 pounds more than the coupe too. In other news, the 2025 Artura has nearly double the electric driving range of last year's car, up from an estimated 11 to 21 miles. The 2025 Artura also gets a small power boost, rising from 671 horsepower previously to 690 hp. There's also a redesigned exhaust system that makes the car sound better and revised suspension and braking systems for enhanced performance.
Competitors to consider
Is it ridiculous to suggest comparing the McLaren Artura to the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray? That all depends on your perspective. From ours, the electrified Corvette is a comparative bargain that provides comparable acceleration, though not quite as much driving satisfaction. At the other end of the price spectrum are the new Lamborghini Temerario and the Ferrari 296 GTB. The Temerario has a hybrid V8 powertrain good for 907 horsepower, while the 296 GTB is a plug-in hybrid V6 with 819 hp.
The Edmunds experts tested the 2025 Artura Spider both on the road and at the track. What about cargo capacity? When you're thinking about carrying stuff in your new car, keep in mind that the Artura Spider has 5.7 cubic feet of trunk space. And then there's safety and reliability.
