The technology is cutting edge and the styling superior. I just took my new one on a 1700 mile trip and loved it. It is on the narrow side for a young family for sure. That is the only drawback I see in general. It is very quiet and tracks well on the road. Great for us folks without young children. A value in it's class.

Update May 2020: Center console piano black and chrome trim is too brittle and scratches/chips very easily, so annoying, looks great in showroom but not functional. Also, side plastic piece ear seat beat release chips and pits when seat belt is released. C'mon Mazda these are easy fixes. Had a 2007 Honda Pilot with 220,000 miles on it and it was time for a replacement. Didn't plan on buying a Mazda. Test drove Acura MDX and RDX, Honda Pilot Elite, Toyota Highlander and Rav 4, Lexus RX350 and GX460, Subaru Outback 3.5 six cylinder, and Mazda CX-5. (No Audis or BMWs for me--been there done that with the high repair bills and sticker prices.) Anyways, nothing matched the Mazda CX-9 in handling, acceleration, cornering, shifting, braking, comfort and overall driveability. Hands down winner. Car is also beautifully designed inside and out. I like the Grand Touring model better than the Signature; I'm not a fan of the reddish nappa leather with the Signature. The "black" leather with the GT model is more of a very dark gray matted leather and not the shiny black leather found in other SUVs. Apple Car Play is nice and just takes some time getting use to--satellite maps feature on Google Maps looks sharp. Bose sound system is top notch. Numerous safety features. Wish remote start was standard and also started the heated seats and steering wheel. Third row seat may be tight if you're over 5'10"/hefty. Got a nice discount on price along with the 0.9% financing. Highly recommend.

Love the 2019 CX9 Signature Edition! The interior is fantastic. I drove the new Acura MDX and absolutely could not see paying the difference. It handles like a sports car but also has a heavy and safe feel to it. This is my third Mazda in seven years.

We just purchased our 2019 grand touring awd. It is replacing a 2016 grand touring cx9 that was totaled last week in a head on collision. From a safety standpoint, I would like to remark on this vehicles superior performance. I was traveling at 40-45mph when a white Prius crossed a double yellow line straight into my grille. With no time to react and break, I am lucky to be alive. On top of that, with the exception of a friction burn from my seatbelt and some pain in my back, my injuries are minimal. It is worth noting that the Prius driver survived the crash, however, the was nothing left of his front end. Ther majority of the cx9s noise was in tact. Sadly, all her fluids spilled out with a running engine rendering her totaled. My favorite vehicle I've ever driven, and I was raised in Audi's. Update: our 2019 now has 40k miles. I still look forward to driving! We've had no mechanical issues, just routine maintenance. We replaced the tires and love the car more than ever. It's great in the snow and does awesome on mountain roads.

The test drive proved this care to be a #1 choice for an SUV of its class. The exterior and interior styling is stunning. My only observation was the narrow leg space in the front cabin, I have problems with disabilities (my right leg and hip) any long distance drive would be very uncomfortable for me.
