Concern for Choice Nullified After Purchase

Was a little reluctant to look at Mazda for a more luxury experience with a SUV. After test driving (more than merely around the block) it became obvious this was in the finals for a choice. Strangely my wife liked the comfort of the drivers seat as much as I did, considering our height difference. She did not like her last SUV because of the seating comfort (cut off circulation to her legs). Love the smooth and relatively quick acceleration, low noise level, and comfortable suspension. Lots more perks than we expected, most of which are actually useful and friendly to learn how to use. It just feels good inside! I actually feel safe driving it, which says a lot considering my primary transportation is a full-size pickup truck.

2019 model further enhanced the refinement

I have a 2018 CX-9 signature loaner for a weekend while waiting for my 2019 CX-9 signature to be delivered. Once I received my 2019, I found many changes that fine-tune this great vehicle ever further. For example, the parking assistance changed from showing red bars warning graphic on the screen to a front facing camera view and a 360 view. The sides mirrors is now power folding automatically when you walk away from the car with the key fob. The map / reading lights change from push-able plastic cover lights to the airplane-style, separate power button and LED spotlights. CarPlay / Android Auto is a big plus as well! The 3rd row seat is actually comfortable for adult. The only thing I don't like is the small center compartment. Overall, this is a great SUV.

The CX9 Touring with Premium Package I have is perfect for my family. I've been driving it to work since buying it and absolutely love it. I love the exterior lok in machine grey and the interior. It drives beautifully. We have room for my family and I don't feel like I am driving a brick on wheels. If you are tall and have lots of kids this car is probably not for you. I personally didn't want to buy a tank that could fit a village. I just needed a car that fit my wife and 3 boys (who were on the verge of killing each other when sitting all side by side).

We needed to add a third vehicle to the household and test drove many vehicles including the Forester, Honda Passport, Kia Telluride, CX-5, Subaru Ascent and the Santa Fe. Overall we liked the CX-9 the best based on driving dynamics, power delivery, luxury look inside and out, and it’s uniqueness overall. We did not need a third row or a ton of space so it was perfect for us. 8/15 update: We still very much enjoy our CX-9. Our one complaint is the slow entertainment system.

Best mid size suv for your money

Overall interior has quality leather not sure on the mm thickness but it is not thin. On both the doors and seats which to me means it’s built to last. The only down fall I believe is the leg room horizontally from the knees. It has a coushin on the center counsel but not the door trim panel. Definitely not the same space as an American build. To me that is the only downfall thus far. The luxury is there and the affordability aswell. Driving in the cruise control mode is great, slows down automatically if someone breaks or slows down infront of you. This technology is new compared to the earlier generation styles of cruise controls. I have less then 1k miles on mine so far so good let’s just wait to see what happened under good care.
