Roadie Report - CT to Texas and back - all good
We took our new CX30 on an extended roadie from CT down to TX and back during October. Gas mileage averaged 35 mpg at approx. 70 mph for the 4300 miles. We did a lot of mountain driving on top of tons of flat interstate driving that demanded good truck & RV passing power - the CX 30 has plenty of power. There was ample space for luggage and lots of other stuff in the rear with the seats folded down. The BIG deal was the quiet and comfort - we are in our seventies and 10 hour stints were possible without any pain or drama - a really great road car. The best I've ever owned and I have had many.

My experience with my Mazda CX-30:
I had been shopping around for a new vehicle in the sub-$30,000 price range for months now and I had been quite disappointed with what I saw in that price range until I stumbled upon Mazda. I got into a CX-30 in the showroom at the Mazda dealership and I was pleasantly surprised, everything on the interior was covered in soft leather, there were knurled knobs and switches, and cool color combinations. A few weeks later I bought my own CX-30 and it has been a great vehicle so far, the CX-30 is great for a lot of reasons but there are also quite a few drawbacks to consider. On the positive side the car is put together well… everything feels solid, there are no rattles or squeaks, the drivetrain is super solid (2.5 I4 + 6 speed auto), the engine works well with the transmission and I feel good about the reliability of both components, the safety systems in the car work well, all the lights in and on the car are all LED on all trims which is nice, the car is an IIHS top safety pick+, the car looks much more expensive than what it is… people have confused my CX-30 for a Mercedes/BMW multiple times, the base 8 speaker audio system is really good for a base system, the seats are really comfortable for most all body types, and I like how simple the car is… it’s refreshing. There are some downsides and they are as follows, the engine is relatively loud and the noise from the engine isn’t a pleasant one, the 18in wheels don’t give the car the best ride quality or turning circle, the car doesn’t get the best MPG in the class (avg. is 26mpg), the cupholders are placed in a weird spot which makes accessing larger cups a challenge, the beltline of the car is high which means the windows are small and hinder visibility, the back seats are cramped… really cramped, there is a significant blind spot due to the small windows in the rear (I would highly advise getting a CX-30 with blind spot monitoring), the exhaust/driveshaft creates a large hump in between the seats in the second row which makes it even more cramped for someone sitting in the middle seat, and the parking brake engages automatically and can be tricky to disengage when you set off. Now you may have just read all of that and thought to yourself that all that doesn’t sound good, but trust me you’ll get over those things because the rest of the car is phenomenal and I couldn’t be happier with the car, I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off it. Hope this review was helpful, as an owner's perspective on what they think about the car.

Better than the CX-5 if…
I traded in my CX-5 Carbon Turbo for a CX-30 Turbo of nearly the same price. You read that correctly, I like the CX-30 better than the CX-5, and by no small margin. My test drive of the CX-30 was a surprising revelation, since pro reviewers like Motor Trend seem to be steering buyers (pun intended) toward the CX-5, and alluding that the latter is a better value. The problem with comparing these two models it’s like comparing apples to oranges. They have entirely different driving dynamics. One is fit for a true driving enthusiast while the other (the CX-5) is geared toward a more typical SUV buyer. Certainly, the CX-5 has the advantage where space and storage are concerned, and is possibly more capable off-road, however, the CX-30 is the better vehicle in nearly every other respect. Where I feel the CX-30 outclasses the CX-5: -Far better handling and far less body roll in corners - Far more communicative steering -Tighter interior fit-n-finish -Nicer ride -More comfortable seats with proper bolstering - Better sounding premium stereo -Higher fuel mileage -Powertrain is more linear in its torque delivery -Fewer creaks from interior bits -Simply feels more European in operation: remarkably similar to driving my father’s BMW 650i. Additionally, there are many minor details of the CX-30 that, considered together, make for a premium experience over the CX-5. For example, the CX-30 Turbo’s heads-up display, black painted side mirrors as opposed to the CX-5 Carbon’s black plastic mirrors. The side mirrors automatically tilt downward when backing up in the CX-30 (great for parallel parking). The 30’s speedometer can be toggled between a digital and analog-looking display. The auto-dimming mirror in the 30 has a sleek frameless design. Even the fuel door of the 30 feels more substantial than that of the CX-5. Where the CX-5 Carbon has the leg-up: -Space, especially for rear passengers -Larger (19”) wheels with a subjectively nicer look than the CX-30’s -Body-colored rear bumper -More ground clearance -Slightly less road noise, though I believe the 30 could be quieter if it were fitted with the same Toyo tires. Regretfully, I didn’t bother to test-drive the CX-30 before my purchase of the 5 Carbon. Don’t make the same mistake. Unless you’re positive you need the additional space of the CX-5, definitely test drive the 30 for yourself, even the non-turbo variants. It’s my opinion that the CX-30 is the better choice if you don’t have a practical need for the CX-5’s additional space and ground clearance, especially if you actually enjoy driving.

Sublime synergism
Best in it's class by far . Bought a 2021 cx30 premium awd. Has 27 sensors in awd system to be as predictive as possible rather than reactive. Elegant interior,12 speaker Bose stereo. Great drive is product of synergistic result of individual components. I switched oem Bridgestones for Nokians with snowflake rating anticipating lake effect snow we get in Northwest Indiana. Will be coming up on 3 years of owning and driving the CX 30. No repair issues. My major complaint is restricted visibility in merging and changing lanes. I have 40,000 miles and will be needing front and rear brakes and new tires. Rather than put $2000 into the CX 30 , I am ordering a 2023 CX 5 turbo. Much better visibility, roomier, and the turbo is a joy to drive.
Small gas tank and very limited rear view
While I like this vehicle quite a bit for the handling, styling, and comfortable feel, there's a few flaws you need to be aware of before purchasing. My biggest beef is with the small gas tank, which is only 12 gallons (I'm currently only getting 24.9 miles per gallon in winter too). That means, every 10 gallons you will be looking to fill up. I find this ffrustrating after being in a Nissan Altima with a 20 gallon gas tank and I'm not a heavy commuter. You'll be filling this vehicle up 2-3 times a week if you are. Just be aware of that. The rear view is practically non existent wihout removing the rear middle seat head rest, which I did to get adequate viewing. Standard base model does not come with blind spot monitoring either which I was not aware of until after purchasing. That being said, I do really like this vehicle and would've given it 5 stars if it had a reasonable size gas tank and adequate rear view.

2021 Mazda CX-30 Premium
Best Looking Small SUV. Fit and finish (tight). Premium model (Awesome). Technology (very nice, including new Heads-up Display). Ride ( Impressive). Gas Mileage ( Good - up to 33 mpg ). Driver in a cockpit experience with very comfortable seats and easy access controls and information system at your fingertips. Interior - sharp, sporty , contrast stitching. My first Mazda (I'm very impressed)

Really great quiet car.. luxury all there!!
Napa leather, 12 speaker Bose, headlights led adaptive with auto highbeam feature. Heads up display. All safety systems in car. Apple car play..Electric lift gate and quiet and handles like a German car. I love the car, Mazda did an unbelievable job building this car.. fit and finish is on top! UPDATE: I would get another Mazda! I have done just oil changes. I have gray with white interior. It’s looks and held up well. I am still on original set of tires. They told me tread will go to 50k miles. In bmw world u be on third set of tires at 50k miles. I will say car drives handles well. Very quiet and gas mileage is same as the 2018 bmw 530e, which I turned into bmw early due to electronic issues. Ghosts and things that occurred during the lease. The cx30 is quieter car then the hybrid 530 I had. Napa leather on Mazda and decota on bmw. U see the different. The padding on knee area on middle console. The soft touches. The Bose system a in Mazda. I got the 187 hp premium car at time, turbo version was not around. I would consider getting one but mine is excellant. No complaints and paint fit and finish look brand new

Sporty looking
It’s a good buy for the money, good quality for lower end of suvs, we are satisfied for what it has as being a base model, safety features etc, rear camera, body lines line up good, doors shut nice, we are just average size, fits us nice, but if larger frame might look at step up size, just having couple weeks we like so far
Luxury level interior and styling
8 years ago, I was deciding between a Mazda 3 and Subaru Impreza. I went with the Subaru to my regret. 8 years of driving the Subaru left me with ankle and leg pain and a heavy maintenance cost. The boxer engine causes sparkplug changes to be extraordinarily high. As for the ergonomics, the boxer engine makes for an unleveled floor around the gas pedal as someone who drives with his heel on the floor this caused me to twist and strain my foot at awkward angles and resulted in chronic foot and knee problems. Upon realizing that it was my car causing my problems I promptly sold my Subaru and bought the cx30. Bought the car 3 weeks ago. I enjoy driving it, I think it looks good. It drives well. The Premium Leather package makes the car feel like a higher end luxury vehicle, BMW/Audi but for much less. The engine gives me a boost and has enough power when I want it. Sure it isn't going to be like my manual shift civic si of the past. But it moves faster than my Subaru Impreza. Pros, good comfort, lots of features extras, Mazda App, Auto lights, HUD, automatic rear lift. Cons Climate Control system doesn't allow much customization. It is basically set the temp and let the computer decide what fan to blow. Auto lights with automatic High Beam is a little nuisance. Back seat doesn't have much leg room. If you want a larger car get the CX5, I bought it because my CX30 is a commuter car. In terms of looks, performance and safety I recommended the Mazda CX30

Sleek, stylish & packed with desirable features!
The stylish exterior and upscale looking interior pulled me in and the features made me feel like I wasn't stepping down from the luxury brand of my previous vehicles. It is fun to drive and I had a smile on my face when I got out of the car after my test drive. Even though I was used to 300+ horsepower on my previous 3 cars, this 4 cylinder (186 hp) engine is peppy and goes when you hit the gas, plus the car feels nimble and responsive. For the price, you really get a lot of options and I'm enjoying the Mazda Connected services on my phone. You can remotely start your car, check the remaining fuel, your odometer reading and confirm that the doors are locked, all from your phone. I've only had it for 6 days, but loving it so far! Update: I've now had the car for a year and a half and still love it for all the reasons previously stated. My only complaints; sometimes I wish I had gotten the slightly larger CX5 and the bluetooth calls sometimes have a lot of "wind" noise on the other end even when the windows are up and air vents are on low.

Very nice small CUV
I traded in my 2016 Honda Civic Turbo for the 2020 Mazda CX-30 Premium. I wanted a vehicle that stood a bit higher than my beloved Civic as my middle-aged knees needed a break. I chose the CX-30 because it was the nicest-handling car in its class based on test drives. I am particularly fond of the fit and finish of this car; it reminds me of a BMW or Audi. It has enough power for the highway and for Georgia's hills; it is very easy to park in small parking spaces. It handles like a more expensive German car. This car does NOT need the turbo engine; the base engine has plenty of power as long as you are not a race-car enthusiast. The other small CUVs felt anemic compared to the Mazda (especially the Subaru CrossTrek and the Toyota CH-R). Although I wish that the infotainment screen was a touchscreen, it works well once you figure out how the knob works. The heads-up display places your speed just above the hood; you do not need to take your eyes off the road. The blind-spot indicators show up on the heads-up display as well. The leather seats are supportive and heat up nicely during the winter. The materials in the cabin are first-class with lots of soft surfaces and very little cheap-looking plastic. All the controls feel like they belong in a more expensive car. I do have a few quibbles. The rear cargo department is a bit small (even compared to my former Civic). Do not buy if you play golf; your clubs will barely fit in the cargo hold with the rear seats up. I have to drive the wife's Honda CRV if I go to play golf. It will hold about eight large reusable grocery bags or two suitcases. The fuel economy is not the greatest; I drive primarily on the interstate and I average 31 mph. The most annoying quibble is the blind-spot safety system's tendency not to catch large semis in your blind spot on the interstate. I have noticed this several times in the six months I have been driving the CX-30. The automatic high beams can be a bit annoying as well; the sensors are bit too sensitive and have probably blinded quite a few oncoming cars. However, this vehicle is extremely comfortable, nice-handling, and thus far, reliable at 13,500 miles. It is also much quieter than any other car I have driven recently, particularly on the highway. The premium Bose sound system sounds great, and the HVAC cools and heats quickly. The automatic rear-hatch release has spoiled me forever! This is a very classy-looking and smooth-driving automobile. It does not look or feel cheap. I just might stick with Mazda after owning this car.

Traded a Kia Soul for the CX-30. Overall Superior build and ride quality. Premium package ads all the features I wanted within my price range. Would absolutely recommend the car.
Stealth machine
Bought this for my college age son. I wanted a car with the best safety record, AWD, good to drive and reliable. The car looks much better in person than in photos. Couldn’t get anything second hand i.e., a 2020 model so I had to buy new. My wife drives a 2016 CX5 which has been largely reliable and I have a 2004 Mazdaspeed MX5, so a good feeling about Mazda which at the top of its game in design safety and reliability. I’m very impressed - the build quality is excellent, everything is very taut, the road handling is very good - on a par with my 2007 Acura RDX (IMHO the best handling CUV ever). The acceleration is good, better than our CX5 with the same engine. Th auto LED headlights are very good - again, much improved over the last 5 years. This should give my son pleasure, reliability and safety for years to come.

Class Leading
Mazda definitely bring all the good stuff in this small crossover. The styling, handling and mechanical behavior of the vehicle are all near luxury. I guess Mazda is positioning itself as a premium not luxury or mainstream carmaker

Humble Luxury
Frame of reference: I just traded in my 2006 RAV4 Ltd, so I’ve been living in the “model T” days for quite awhile. I looked at KIA and Hyundai, as well as Subaru. What’s not to like about the CX-30, seriously? It’s stylish, well appointed, had all the relevant safety features, and is as fast as you want to drive it. I’m ok with the lack of leg room in the backseat, as my kids are all out on their own. I have no issues using the Infotainment system, and the Bose sound system is more than adequate for my purposes. Runs on regular or premium gas, and when using regular there is no appreciable drop off in performance. My only gripe is in regards the OEM tires. They’re not up to any kind of winter driving. The dealership should have ordered them with “all weathers” for our region. That said, I’m very happy behind the wheel of the car, and I haven’t been able to say that since before the kids came on the scene.

Wow! Great car!
I am thrilled with this car. It's the perfect city car - not too large, so it's easy to park - but feels very spacious inside. I love having so many safety features, especially the bright headlights which make it so easy to drive at night or in the rain. Great car.

Fun crossover that turns heads
I have the 2021 2.5 S AWD edition that has the blue accents in the car. The accents are what help make the car. I love that it gets around the same gas mileage as my previous car (2016 Kia Optima) but it sits up higher off of the ground and it has AWD. There is a little less room in the back seat vs the Optima though. The headlights on this thing are super bright and do not impact my astigmatism (this was one of my concerns). I like that I am higher off of the ground - I feel as though I am seen easier by other drivers. I have had so many compliments and people asking me what kind of car that it is. The car handles curves and hills really well - my husband drives dirt track cars and has tested this lol. Cons: Back seat is a little tight - I am 5'5" so my seat is not that far back and my son who is in a booster seat still has room but not as much as an Optima. Bluetooth settings will change on you - i.e. I like to have mine set on calls and audio - every now and again they will change to just calls. The gas tank - there is only around a 10 gallon tank on this car so I am having to stop and fuel up more often even though my gas mileage is still about the same.

By far the most fun to drive
This SUV is, by far, one of the most engaging, fun to drive vehicles I’ve ever owned. The body styling and interior design are exquisite. The turbo engine delivers very impressive power and it’s quite comfortable in the front seats on trips. I e driven many SUVs as a part of my job, and this is at or near the top in handling, acceleration, road feel, and sheer driving excitement. The biggest downside I’ve experienced is with the dealership in my hometown. This dealership has a service manager who defaults to, “Oh, they all do that,” and “There’s nothing we can do about that,” whenever I bring it in for warranty work. I belong to several online CX-30 enthusiast groups, and I’ll say that Mazda’s dealerships are a mixed bag. Some are very happy with their service, while many others, like me, get no results and the runaround. The next closest Mazda dealer is nearly 200 miles away, so just popping into another dealership isn’t a viable alternative for me. The last problem I had resulted in me involving a Mazda corporate mediation specialist who stepped in and had my car shipped via transport to a dealership near Seattle just to fix the faulty valve seal issue. I shouldn’t have to do this, but as long as the Mazda corporation allows service managers like the one in Spokane to operate unimpeded, I’d definitely not recommend that anyone who will be living in the Spokane area to buy a Mazda. You’ll be furious with the dealership in no time. I love the car, but hate the dealership experience. If you do purchase a Mazda, do your homework on the dealership. Get a good one and your experience will probably be wonderful. If you don’t select a good dealership, don’t say you weren’t warned.

Impressive
UPDATE: At a little over 14,000 mi., my opinion of this vehicle is unchanged. When Car and Driver Magazine rates a vehicle 9.5/10, as it did the CX-30, it is worth a look. I knew of the purported quality of the CX-5. Was set on purchasing a low mileage, used, CX-5 Turbo, until I noticed the CX-30. In the 10 months I have owned the CX-30 Preferred, I have not been disappointed in any regard. I really love this vehicle. I was surprised by the car's performance. The power is very satisfying and the handling fun. It hugs substantial turns without roll. The interior is very, very nice. The blue/black upholstery (w/ white stitching) in my white CX-30 pushes the interior into high quality category. I am 6'2" and 250 lbs, and the seats are very comfortable; plenty of room. No more than two people ever occupy the car, so I keep the back seats folded down. I was really surprised that I fit a full size memory-foam mattress in the back. And, no Nissan continuously variable transmission! Mazda decided to make their own. I have the notion that some designers gave this vehicle a significant amount of consideration.

Wasn't expecting this!!!
We've had our CX-30 Premium for two months now and it just continues to impress me daily. The safety and convenience features this car has are just incredible. We're coming out of a 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport and let me tell you. There is NO comparison between these two vehicles. Fit and finish, ride quality and cabin quietness is simply unsurpassed in this price category. Well done Mazda!!

test drive cx3, cx5, and cx30
test drove all 3 a couple weeks ago in ft collins, co. all 3 had the turbo's. very nice especially the cx30 for me and the cx5 for my wife. the cx30 seemed a little faster and rode a little better for me. when you kicked in the turbo on all 3 you had better have a hold on it. nice power when you need it and would personally be disappointed without it. "look ahead "places your speed out in front of you like it is riding above your hood. nice safety touch.

Turbo closed the deal for me - smooth acceleration great zip off the line , all the tech and styling / comfort of German luxury but at the Mazda price. the non touch infotainment , for me a big plus, bose stereo great sound. on the ride..perfect balance of grip and smooth , great styling and luxury feel. This one tops the 21 cars i have previously owned.

Works until your warranty ends then everything die
Car was perfect up until 20k miles then came all the needed precautionary charges to keep warranty, over $1200 worth. Then just after 36k miles be ready for everything to start failing one after another. Started with Calipers freezing up, Differential for all wheel drive needed to be fixed. At this point go rid of the car since price for a new 2022 is cheaper then repairing something that apparently was built only to last 37k miles.

No good on country roads
Is good for city driving with all the safety features. However on Country roads, not freeways, i found the car controlling me not the other way. When you get either grids or uneven road surfaces the safety feature tries to pull car to left on narrow road and you are fighting to maintain control

Stay away
Between the rattles, squeaks and clunks, this vehicle is not worth the premium price you pay for it. Power is nice but underwhelming at times. Brakes are extremely mushy, and the overall user experience while inside is higher quality, the total package is a let down. Do not be fooled by the reviews and fanfare over this vehicle. I did my research test drove and thought I was in love at first, but no longer will I purchase Mazdas.

AWD malfunctions
Whenever my new CX-30 is over 60 mph, there is a repetitive very low-frequency noise, about 1 cycle per second, coming from the center rear of the car. The dealer has tried to fix it three times. They replaced the wheel bearings, rotated the tires, tried different wheels and tires, etc. The noise won't go away. The harder I drive it, the worse the noise gets. My suspicion is that something in the AWD system is cavitating. I am getting very frustrated with this car. Bought it new, it has only 2k miles on it now. Think twice about purchasing one of these. It drove great the first few weeks, now it is the most annoying car I have ever owned. Maybe Mazda can't make a good AWD.

Windshield cracked
My windshield just cracked for no reason, now I have a $900 service to change it and Mazda said that they can't do anything. I saw a lot of similar cases of cracked windshield on the internet. I would not recommend the car, because you can wake up one morning and find out that you have to pay $900 because of poor quality windshield.

Sporty Sub-Compact SUV
After selling my 2006 Tacoma and trading my 2018 F-150, both at top dollar, I bought two Mazda CX-30's for me and my spouse at Jim Click Mazda Tucson. The buying process from start to finish took about 2 hours total. Rene, a 23-year sales veteran at this dealership was polite, easy to work with and took care of us out the door. I have only had my CX-30's two weeks, but I have really enjoyed the drive and use of this small, but zippy vehicle on Tucson streets. Its 186 hp engine delivers fast acceleration and easy handling. I enjoy loading and unloading groceries in the back and both vehicles easily fit in my garage. The heated seats quickly make chilly mornings comfy. I'm 5 ft. 8 in. and the driver's seat fits me like a glove. Free oil changes for life is a convenient inducement for me to want to take my CX-30 back to the dealer as needed every 6 months. I am excited about owning and driving this AWD SUV and I am looking forward to an LTR with my Mazda.

Problem with seats
Bought my Mazda Cx 30 Turbo 1 year ago. Love the look and drive. At 8000 took it in noticed some bunching under leather on driver seat. They said they would check again next service. Now at 15,000 there is more noticeable creases and what appears to be the inside under leather bunching up, plus now my center console is rubbing against the side of my seat when I open console. Dealer sent pictures to Mazda, but they not wanting to do anything at this point. My concern is what the side of my seat will look like after the console rubbing, and the look of wear already on the seat. After this low of km this is a concern of quality they put into their seats.

Good Vehicle But Lacking Some Basics
I would have given 5 stars as the dealership (112) Mazda in Medford, New York)and Joe Caggiano (salesman) were exceptional....My complaint is with Mazda and the CX-30 appointments....I leased the CX-30 Premium model (the highest package until you get to the 2.5 premium plus) and was shocked to find that although the car had gadgets like heads-up display and adaptive cruise control (they call it Mazda radar assist with stop and go) it lacked certain “basics” that have been in every vehicle I have owned over the last 20 years like Auto dimming rear view mirror (I haven’t had a car with the manual rear view mirror since the 80’s), home link (ditto) and what they call front and rear parking assist (a warning when you get too close to objects when parking)....I admit that I didn’t ask but since these things have come in every vehicle I’ve owned for the last twenty years I never thought about it....Again, I am not complaining about the dealership and sales team but definitely about the appointments on the vehicle.... Wake up Mazda and come all the way into the 21st century....Just a warning to check every detail in a new Mazda and to not take anything for granted...

PURE JOY 2.5l awd
I want to first state that my daily driver is a 2019 Audi A6 and this car was purchased was purchased for my wife. This Car handles better than anything in its class and punches way above. I looked at forester, Crosstrek along with Hyundai and the cx-5 but then took this out. Yes it is on the small side but it is solid, fit and finish is up there with germans. Really very little to complain about except lane assist not as good as Audi and gas mileage could better. No matter what are you thinking of do your self a favor and look at this. This is not a large vehicle I am 5'10 and have plenty of room but if you are over 6' and stocky this will most likely be too small for you.

IF YOU USE BLUE TOOTH DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE
The bluetooth picks up all background noise. Everybody asks me; "do u have the windows down"...is it raining hard. Can we talk later when your in a better location. Maza told me the car was designed this way, so no help. Think about it, Mazda literally told me because they designed the car like that there's not anything they're gonna do about it. So if you have a need for Bluetooth do not buy a mazda cx 30.

Delivered new with a broken airbag sensor...
Picked up a BRAND NEW CX30 today only to realize that the passenger airbag sensor is broken. The sensor does not recognize that there is a passenger in the seat and the manual says the car is not safe to drive. That’s no way to start out with a new car

Reliability, quality and safety issue
I have 2021 cx30, and I am not happy with it. First of all, its battery doesn't design for cold weather. Each time that temperature drops below -15, the battery is discharge automatically and I have to ask for a boost. Second, it's crouse control doesn't work correctly if a car stopped in the road ( for example, behind the red light, it's never detecting it and the car just stopped with emergency brake.

Sporty luxurious interior but not enough head room
I test drove this car after read the reviews about how sporty it is. YES it's sporty luxurious for turbo premium trim remind me smaller BMW but I came from BMW X5 so the room is just not there (almost claustrophobic). After test drive for 2 miles I can feel the numbness on my legs. Mind you I like the seat to sit like a chair not go kart ride. If you need sporty small vehicle I would recommended it! It's just not for me.

Smaller than it actually looks
As I mentioned the Mazda cx-30 looks big and sporty. This comes at a price, in space and leg room. I now own a Mazda 5 along with a Toyota Matrix. For size comparison the cx-30 is more like a hatchet a kid sedan very compact and sporty like I said. The problem comes with the trim and how the car is being manufactured. Which takes room from the inside to reflect a modern sleek look on the out. If you’re looking for great leg room and space Id highly suggest the Mazda CX-5. Test drive these cars before actually committing. It made me change my mind in 5 seconds hahah.

Mazda insists on making their vehicles small on the inside. The beam rear axle is literally a misstep. Mazda has the ingredients to make all their vehicles better.

Love the car; Hate the shifty Mazda Company
After owning the Mazda30 for 3 years I received a message from Mazda that my "trial period" of connection to its app, which was free when I bought car would end unless I began paying something like $20/month and remote starting would end. I did not sign up. Despite assurances from local dealer that I would still get alerts on the dashboard, like low tire pressure, this did not happen. Pretty chintzy, if you ask me. I also got upsold to numerous add-ons that I've never used.

It's so fun to drive
First of all, I have always liked a spacious station wagon, and was driving a Volvo 850 and Audi A4 Avant in the past. When my A4 broke down, I realized that there were no station wagons available in the market, and ended up buying a Lexus RX350. That car was as spacious as Volvo, but was too big and too tall. I'm a cyclist and have a roof rack, but the roof was too high even for a 6' man. Then, "compact" SUV emerged in the market, which is actually close to a station wagon. At first, I was looking at Crosstrek, and Lexus UX. I know Subaru AWD has a good reputation, but the interior looks so cheap for the price. UX looks sleek, but is very small. Actually, its cargo capacity is as small as Corolla hatchback. Then, I found CX30. It's not as spacious as Audi A4, but is big enough for my family and for four bicycles. The interior looks as good, or even more luxurious than Lexus UX. The cabin is very quiet, and the handling is responsive like a sport car, which is totally different from my previous RX350. What's good about CX30 is its fuel efficiency. It goes 32 mpg non-highway, and 34 mpg highway, as opposed to 20/22 with RX350. It's so fun to drive now. Thank you, Mazda!
