New family car

I love this vehicle. I have a child on the way, and my husband and I were looking for a family vehicle. I am still young enough that I can't see myself driving a minivan or station wagon or even a full-size car. The Mazda 6 is perfect. It is still sporty yet gives us the room we need will a growing family. Who says moms can't drive cool cars?

Tight Car - loads of room

The build quality of this car is great. If average German quality were a 5 and Japnese a 4, this car would score a 4.5 in my book. There is a solid "thunk" when closing the doors, quiet ride, good cornering. I went with the 2.3L for the fuel economy, not disappointed performance-wise, but if I did not care about mileage, I would have taken the V6. Even with an manu-matic the car is not a slug, just won't beat a Hemi off the line. I would highly recommend this car for its good looks, versatility and value.

Love my car.... The car drives smooth and it is fuel economic. I get over 400 miles per tank. Comfortable driver seat. Very driver friendly. All the needed buttons are easy to access including the radio on the steering wheel. Drives well in the pouring rain. Great ABS system. Tested that feature out unfortunately.

Overall a great car; been buying hatchs for years, GTI's, CRX's and so on. Love the exterior and interior. Standard sport package "makes" the car. Kinda wish I could have afforded the V6.

Formerly Honda, now Mazda owner!

I've had my 6i hatch (auto) for over 10 months and put on almost 14K miles. Mazda got it right! I'm a former Honda Civic owner (15 years, 3 Civics) who wanted more features and horsepower and did not want to lose reliability. So far, I have had no issues (other than a little sputtering in the cold with no warmup). The 6i is not as quick to accelerate under 20mph as my Civic was, but it's not a VTEC. The gas mileage truly stinks with the way I drive; I've gotten as low as 19mpg and no higher than 26.5mpg so far. Car hugs the curves, though. I wish it came in a hybrid - I'd trade this one in for it. The amount of room I have is astonishing. I recommend test driving to see if it's for you.

Well, I was once stuck between a TSX and Mazda 6, however, I went with the Mazda6 considering its aggressive exterior and unique interior modeling, including its much lower price tag. Plus, it was a V6 as opposed to Acura's "weeny" I-4. That's all I have to say. :=) Plus there were way too many TSX's on the streets. If it wasn't for this last detail, I might safely say my dad would have wanted me to get the TSX. Nevertheless, in general, I wanted a more manly car and here I am today.

M6 Good Car for Cheap Price

I spent some time between the two and the three reasons why I went with the M6 was that (1) there were too many TSX's on the streets, (2) the M6 fully loaded was cheaper than the TSX I had in mind and finally (3) I wanted a V6 under hood instead of a wimpy I4. I know that TSX is a very good car, but the final deciding factor for me was the fact that too many of my friends already had that car. I wanted to go with something no one else had at my school, and so here I am with my M6 happier than ever.

Fun to Drive & Useful

I am a previous owner of a 2000 Grand Prix Supercharged. After driving that torque monster this car is slow off the line, but the power above 3500 is decent. This is no stoplight blaster nor is it a slug. The 2.3L has enough juice to merge and pass at speed. The suspension/handling is excellent, even on the busted-up streets here in the Northeast. Build quality is solid. I do 80% city or heavy traffic driving and this car gets the job done. I love to have cargo capacity without having to drive a big slow gas-guzzler-box. If you are looking for a fun-to-drive, versatile car with decent fuel economy, this may be the one for you.

After seven straight new Honda purchases, I bought my son an '04 Mazda3s a few months ago and was very impressed. So when it came time to purchase a new car for myself I researched all of the potential options with Honda, Nissan, Acura, and Mazda. For my needs, the Mazda6 quickly became the leading contender, and after comparing new and used car options, I decided an '04 or '05 loaded Mazda6s was the way to go. After a few weeks of searching, I found one with every conceivable option, and in a color I like, so I bought it. This car is a blast to drive. Excellent road manners, comfortable interior, sporty. It is great!

I love my Mazda 6 and would recommend it to anyone. I test drove lots of other cars including an accord, an Altima and a Maxima and although some offered more power, they do not handle nearly as well as my 6. Overall, I love to drive it and am very happy with my purchase even 2 1/2 years later.

I must confess that I got my 6 with the 5 speed auto. It is still a fun car. The V6 is very smooth but will start barking at about 4,000rpm. The car is fairly linear through the turns with great steering feel the whole way. The transmission has a tendency to hunt for gears. In two years I have done nothing more than routine maintenance every 6 months - a dream compared to my last car. I still have not gotten over how pretty this car is inside and out. With the hatchback design it swallows everything we need to carry. Gas mileage! It is rated at 19/26, but in mixed driving I never seem to do better than 18 or 19. Interior is comfortable but wind noise is abundant. Opt for the Bose!

The Mazda6 is fun to drive. You may lose some tires because of the low clearance in some poorly maintained New York streets. The car does not like severe rain downpours either. I lost a fan blade that hit the radiator and pierced it during a rainstorm. The Mazda dealer said it was an "act of God." and the warrantee was not honored. I wrote mazda at no avail. Good car, poor service and a company that is not consumer oriented. I would not recommend it. A calm, careful driver.

Great car, but unreliable at times

I've owned my Mazda6s hatchback for 3.5 years now. It's been a good, not great car. I love the looks and sportiness versus the Accord and Camry - a fun car for a young dad. However, I've had several maintenance issues that have kept the car in the shop more than I would have liked - starter, water pump, radiator all had to be replaced, axle seal leaking, among other things. It was all covered by warranty, but still a pain. On top of all this, my gas mileage is less than I hoped, around 15 mpg when I was hoping for closer to 20 mpg.

I like my mazda because its has a nice design, an amazing amount of space, and its a nice ride. I was also impressed at how nice the car was a really reasonable price. However it has not always been a very reliable car. At only 3000KM the fuel pump died and I didnt have a car for 2 months because the part was on back order in Japan. Then at 15000KM I had break problems and the break clips had to be replaced. Then last week at 58000KM the transmission died. My lease is up in appox 9 months and because of all the reliabilty problems I probably wont buy a mazda again.
