where to get spare parts
I too love this car, as someone who's had many cars in my life time this one has been the most fun to drive and I also get many complements from other drivers. For anybody out there who's needing any spare parts theirs a Bone yard in central Florida called Rienharts" they have many of the parts you will ever need plus they will ship it overnight if you wish. my rear center tail light went out a few years ago and they were very helpful, I was surprised who easy it was to install myself in about one hour. I hope this info will help all of you "mark" lovers like myself.
I love my LSC!
Hello everyone, people everywhere who have this car and participate on the online forums for this car knows of me. But for those who don't, I'm ginamarie. I proudly own my 98 Lincoln mark 8 lsc se, I had gotten this car as'a birthday gift from hubs, when I realized it was time to buy something a little more reliable- boy was I right and got exactly what I wanted, blkonblk, moon, low miles got her at 50k and she still going strong at a little over 174k. Like every car with miles you have your leaks and squeaks. As long as you keep your oils changed and up to the min on necessary repairs I know my lsc will go for many more miles.

Love this car, after ten years...
It is a classic style that everyone likes and fun to drive. Only major repairs were front ti-rods replaced and finding replacement HID Headlamps which Ford is no longer manufacturing and none to be found. Had to spend $650 for a headlamp retrofit kit, plus $250 labor to have headlights that work. Difficult to find certain parts since Ford no longer makes this vehicle. Shame on Ford!
Plans for my Mk
Gonna cost you in repairs but well worth it.I have a Ford mechanic good friend,so it's cheap for me. Cobra motor is getting a new intake and exhaust, hopefully tuning too.Air ride goes bad, rotors warp, small electrical problems, stabilizer bars on front. Set of Blizzaks for winter and 17" Konigs with performance Kumho's for summer.
Best Car I've Ever Owned!
Wow!! What a Car. From the moment I drove the car at the dealership, I told my husband, "This is a Hot Rod Lincoln and I want it!" Of course I never thought that I would own one, but bought it brand new 3 months later. We absolutely LOVED THE CAR! Ride is excellent, performance is unbelievable, and the car is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! To this day June 2010 when I drive this car I get compliments on it. It is the Bright Toreador Red Tinted Clear coat Metallic and when clean looks still looks like a million bucks. I love this car, but replacement parts are hard to find so as I sit here today I'm having to sell the car. Believe me the tears will be coming. By far the BEST Car I've ever owned.
One hell of a fine car
I don't drive a whole heck of a lot but when I do I enjoy every minute of it. This is the best car I have ever owned and man is it fun to drive. Very comfortable riding car with superb pick up when it's needed (all the time :) Never had a single problem with my Mark VIII LSC I still get compliments from people when they see it.
Still a great car
What can I say, I just love this car. It's a wonderfully smooth ride around town or on the highway, soaking up potholes with ease. The V8 provides effortless power at any legal speed. Gas mileage is usually around 25 on the highway, though I've gotten it as low as 22 (fast into a headwind) and as high as 27 (65 w/ a tailwind?) If you're having traction problems in rain or snow, it's your tires. The first set I had were lousy in rain and snow. I've since switched to 2 sets of tires- snows for winter and a set of summer performance tires. Repairs since the warranty ran out have averaged about $800/yr, which I'd consider well worth it to drive a Mark.
LOVE IT STILL
I bought a 98 Mark VIII LSC in 2000 with only 13K on it. I always wanted one. I love the cockpit style interior and the teloscopic steering wheeel, and auto adjust seat. After a preformance chip from lincoln motor sports, and a little TLC she was revin up there. ran low 14's in the quarter mile. She now sits in the garage. Being pampered since they wont bring it back out or make a Mark 9 I have to make sure she last for a long time
Champagne at beer cost
Owned two MkVIIs that I drove for many years with few maintenance issues. In fact, I kept the last one 'til the end was in sight because, for me, the MkVIII was just too big to be a coupe. Finally, in 1998, I realized that the car wasn't going to get any smaller. Even worse, it was about to disappear forever. I bought a black/black '98 LSC. For a personal/luxury car, it's still too big for my preference. However, there is no greater luxury/performance car combo for the price available anywhere in the world. Even the gas mileage is good considering it's 305HP and 4K+ pounds.
Great Car Just too bad!
I bought this black beauty in 2004 with 26,000 mi. It still runs like a Bat. with 200,000 mi. I hate ford has not only stopped producing this car , but has hidden all the spare parts. American Auto companies just don't get it. I am now facing some electrical problems and need replacement items like the center tail running light ballast and cannot get it so I had it disconnected.Fuel pump is only available from NAPA now. I was in Atlanta and had to have the pump replaced, so I limped into Pugmire, (Lincoln Dealer) They charged me over $1,000 to fix it and screwed up my exaust pipes so badly, they offered to reimburse me for having someone else repair their work.(where can I find parts?
Fantastic Automobile
I bought it new and have had it ever since. I have never owned an automobile that I love to drive as much as I do My Mark VIII. The first time I drove it on an interstate and it stooped down when I reached 50 MPH, I was hooked. Its pearl paint job looks like it just came off the showroom floor. People still will stop me in parking lots to talk about its beauty. If you ever have a chance get you one
Beautiful car!
I bought this car from a very nasty divorce situation and the car took the brunt of it. I have have put a lot of money and effort to get this car close to where it should be. It's a "Collector Edition" and it is simply gorgeous. For being a 10 year old car I get compliment after compliment - people think its a new car. There are not many of these on the road so people are not sure what it is. The syling is timeless.
Good while it lasted.
Purchased the LSC in 2007 at 112K miles. Had already had tie rods, links, and front bushings replaced around 70K. Replaced $400 A/C tube at 122K; wheels around 140K due to excessive corrosion; tie rods and stabilizer links again at 150K. Powertrain control module went at 155K ($2000). Ran fine until 175K at which point the PCM went out again. Can't and won't replace it a second time. Despite having to put some real money into the car to keep it running I have enjoyed almost every minute of driving. Its design is centered around the driver and a responsive driving experience. If you can find one with less than 100K, buy it, drive it, then sell it before it starts to fall apart.
FUN FUN FUN
Had for a month, Great solid ride. Only Avg 17mpg city. Previous owner loved this car. I limo tinted the windows that gives an even more unique look. Just had 2 control arms replaced at 72,000 miles and fluids flushed. Ford Dealer said that was ONLY thing needing to be fixed, that the car is in EXCELLENT shape. Thats a Dealership folks!!!! They would laundry list the Repairs to make money!!! So im VERY Pleased to hear this. Nice sound system for 11 years old, but WILL add my 2-10" subwoofers in the Back of the trunk. Trunk is not very DEEP. Backseat room!? None. Who cares!!! Im concerned aftermarket warranty wont cover AIR RIDE suspension. I guess ill find out! BUT I LOVE THIS CAR!
Lincoln Mk VIII
Fun to drive, reliable, very comfortable, attractive (still draws compliments), well designed. Almost maintenance-free except for essentials. Have always had recommended maintenance performed on time. There have been recalls, which have been promptly completed by the dealer with no problems. Ford has established itself as a quality manufacturer and the dealers provide reputable after-sale service. I plan to continue driving this car for a long time, one reason being that there is nothing on the market that I would want as a replacement.
A Classic in the Making - my dream car
After wanting one of these cars for the past twenty years or so, I finally got myself one. I have just been diagnosed with a serious ailment, and realized if not now, when? It drives like a dream, and still reminds me of the magic carpet ride of a Riveria from many years ago. The acceleration and ride are fantastic, and the pure fun of driving her are just fantastic. Power behind the 32 valve V8 is incredible. I could never have afforded one of these when new, and feel very lucky to have found this one in as great a condition as she is in. I'm going to have much fun driving around as long as I am able. Minor considerations of suspension, etc. can all be dealt with the right friends.
I love my car
I bought my Lincoln Mark V111 with 200000 miles and it was an awesome investment. Good car, drives great!
Mark VIII LSC Impressions
This car's exterior admittedly is not favored by all colors. In black though (like mine) it looks awesome, and I get many many compliments. The handling is superb for such a large vehicle. Reliability for major components has been very good - though there have been some minor annoyances (the exterior door handles are weak and prone to breaking - unacceptable for such an otherwise fine car). Yes, there are better cars for tens of thousands of dollars more, but overall - there really is NO car for the same money that can match the Mark VIII's total feature/performance package (e.g. 290 hp V-8, air suspension, HID headlamps, cool neon backlight, etc.)
Awesome car IF...
First off, this is not a car for everyone. If you want a perfectly reliable car you never have to think about, buy a Honda. If you want power, style, luxury, and value, buy a Mark VIII. If you love cars or have some mechanical ability, you can fix many problems yourself for a reasonable price. I average 22.2mpg in mixed city/highway driving. I had a worn spark plug boot cause a misfire ($4 part, replaced it myself) and a seat heater went out (not fixed yet). Otherwise the car has been rock-solid reliable. If you're willing to do a little upkeep, you will love the Mark VIII.
good long ride
Bought this Mark with 65000 on it, now have 95000. It is a good ride for my 170 mi/day commute. I'm getting over 25mpg on the hi-way. Car looks great, timeless design. Drivers seat starting to show wear. Would have liked to have option to have both cassette and CD player. back seat pockets are nets, cheaper looking than in 97. Didn't see significant difference in LSC and standard, didn't feel it driving either. Guess the dual exaust is about it. Had to repair the steering wheel, ouch. thousands of parts many motors, many bucks.
Gentleman's Express
This car is smooth, quiet, economical (25+ mpg highway) yet fast and handles like a big sports car. All the gadgets like voice command phone, auto lights and mirrors, etc. mean you are not distracted while adjusting or changing settings. The heated power seats are very comfortable; power tilt/telescope wheel means even at 6'4" I can find a good position and change it occasionally during trips. Sunroof is almost silent when open in vent position at 80mph. Headlights are brighter than anything on the road; the car just begs to find a new, longer way home every night!
Classic Car
Wanted one of these cars since they came out, couldn't afford it though( wife and 4 kids). Found this one on a used car lot, when I drove it i found it had a miss on acceleration and the front brakes pulsated. Bought the car replaced all spark plug boots and front rotors. Replaced front rotors and installed ceramid pads. I have one of the best cars int the world.
a fun car over all
I have had the 98 LSC almost four years. Several problems but all covered under warranty...and great service at that. It is the "most fun" car I have owned in terms of road comfort, handling, performance, and "eye appeal." Always got a new Linc when more than one day. This sucker runs and runs! Just bought a BMW740 so the wife can haul kids....joy!
Hotwheels
This car was an instant collectible when production ceased in 1998. The Cobra engine makes it a real sleeper and by modifying the intake and exhaust you can make it a 325 hp car. Gets lits of looks because there aren't many of them.
Great car, wish they still made them.
Bought this Mark with 32,000. Now have 87,000. Replaced both front brake rotors, they warped. Rear neon light ballast went bad and have already replaced both HID headlamps. Also replaced two C.O.P. coils. Air ride pump is starting to sound bad. I own three of these Marks. 1998 Mark VIII LSC (above) 1996 Mark VIII 82,000 miles. Replaced air struts/pump and front brake rotors (warped). 1995 Mark VIII 150,000 miles. Replaced air struts/pump, front brake rotors (warped), transmission shift assembly, and alternator. I really like these cars and wish they still made them. These have been some of the better cars that I have owned. Better than a 2001 Cadillac STS I had owned.
Totally Disappointed
This is a $30K automobile and Ive had nothing but problems. Wont start and towed 8 times before Ford was able to fix. Once out of warranty, the repairs exceeded $500 a month. Largest repair bills were for ignition coils..replace repeatedly...and catalytic converters which went out 2000 miles after the warranty expired. Cost was $4500. Burned out headlight was $250, and the ashtray cant be replaced without buying a new console...$2500+. Broken door handle, which didnt last 2 years. Misc small items which nickle and dime an owner to death. Overall satisfaction with this Ford product is TERRIBLE!!!!
Mark 8 LSC
Combination of features and performance with this vehicle. Exterior appearance still looks fresh and the interior ergonomics are perfect. Very comfortable for highway traveling. Despite what others say the car tracks well in winter conditions. Overall LSC trim pkg transforms this car into a luxury vrsion of the Mustang Cobra. Receive lots of compliments on the vehicle from strangers.
Disappointment supreme
problem with engine cutting out - no warning. Coils - replaced & replaced- worsened until unable to drive more than 3 weeks without same problem reoccuring. Dealer must buy back.....legal action taken. Understand this fault common with this model.... also telescoping steering wheel constantly breaking - replaced - lasts a month.... constant problem fuel cap not releasing
1998 Lincoln Mark 8 CE
Awesome styling, fit finish inside/out. Only good thing I have to say for the mark 8. Car has 83k. Problem after problem. Blown head gasket, (2k in repairs) new low mileage bullet, 1k for engine, 1k for install. Freaking steering column goes throughthe exhaust manifold, column removal to swap engine. Blend air door 1k to repair. Door handles made of pot metal, breaks often. 14 mpg city/22 highway. Drive shaft, brakes, elect fail. Ford has no body parts, when found, are high bucks! My 4 door Buick Ultra v6 (blown) is faster, Mark ran 14.72 quarter mile. Buick Park Ave 14.38. What next will fail, air ride, neon tail lamp or HID lamps. My Collectors Edition is parked, may bring $ 1 day.
don't be deceived by looks
This car is poorly designed. The caps to the coils are now splitting after 76K miles requiring the entire coil to be replaced because of a design defect and a $5.00 part. The car sometimes acts like the starter is gone. Wouldn't start for 2 days...on the 3rd day it was like nothing was ever wrong.
A Winner!!
This car is a classic. Great design, great performance - a real road machine. This is my fourth Lincoln, and my third Mark. Too bad that Ford decided to stop making these luxury coupes. Have 29000 miles on this car and have had only one minor warranty job done. Sporty handling and a smooth comfortable ride - city and open road.
1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC Collectors Ed
This is a very solid, dependable, well- built vehicle that has served my needs for 5 years. It is great on starts and stops and is a really comfortable ride. I still like its design(aircraft cockpit style) and have received many compliments on exterior looks. It is a unique American luxury car among the ubiquitous German/Japanese models seen all over in Southern California.
What a nice car!
I recently purchased a Mark VIII, and i have to tell you that this is the best car i have ever owned. The attention I get from people when they see this car is great. I love everything about this car and wish they still made it today.
Mark VIII
Very comfortable, fun to drive. I had no problems with the car. I have been very pleased!
The Greatest
This is by far the best car that I have ever owned. The comfort and ride can not compare with others in this class. The power is more than enough for any condition. The sound system is supurb and the electronic seats are unmatched. Highway milage is more than I expected. I will be using this MARK VIII for my coffin
Love my Mark VIII
I purchased this car for my wife as a present when she received her Masters degree. We had a second child and the Mark VII with a 6 year old and an infant just don't do well together, so she wound up with the SUV and now the Mark VIII is my daily driver. I love this car. Yeah, sometimes when it rains, the information center blinks, but big deal. The only significant problem so far after 85K miles has been the blend door on the AC controller. Cost about 400.00 to fix it. We live on a dirt road and most of the times it is severely 'wash boarded'. There are NO squeaks or rattles. This is one solid ride.
Still a GEM of a automobile!
I was given this automobile by an 88 year old original owner last month. Had only 51k miles on it! Still runs great, Repainted in 2008! New tires, a/c, brakes, and new rear suspension all within the last 2 years. It runs like new! I will need to change the belts and repair low beam headlight! Inside very clean, leather is still in great shape. Car was under a carport for the entire 22 years!

Always wanted one
I am so happy with this car. I owned a 92 Tbird and changing over to the Mark is such a big difference. The newer design front and rear are perfect. The high performance engine is a plus. The cockpit design of the interior looks and feels great. From the telescoping steering wheel, to the easy entry seats, the car is winner in the big luxury sport car class.
Best car I've ever had !
This is a fun car to drive. Boy, do I get looks when I pass people on the highway. This car has great pickup, is good on mileage. I get an average of 22.3 mpg but on trips I get an average of over 26 mpg consistently. The only poor quality is on long downhill braking from high speeds.
Disappointment supreme

why did the stop making Marks!!!!
I have had an 87, a 93 and finally my 89 "collectors" edition (last 1000 made, with fabulous special 2 tone trim and steering wheel from the Jag, which if they started with, might still be making them). Had first 2 built into convertibles with people still gathering sround to admire when sold with 105,000 miles. That would have given LM showroom trafffic, instead of killing it but continue (for a time!) with both the Town Car and Continental which 9 out of 10 couldnt pick apart if they had to. With 82,000 miles, still waiting for first thing to go wrong! There is nothing out there to replace it with (certainly not the LS).
