Definite downgrade from older models

I used to love Lexus. I still want to, but they are cutting corners. Thankfully I don’t have some of the issues others have (yet), but I will say the car rattles awfully loudly when in a slanted driveway after filling the gas tank. No other vehicle I have ever owned sounds like that. It is embarrassing and sounds like something is wrong with it, yet they tell me it’s normal. My biggest complaint, however, is the seats are horribly uncomfortable. I spend a lot of time in my car and my old 2008 rx350 was soooo comfortable. This is like sitting on a slab of concrete - my sciatic nerve is aggravated causing numbness in my leg and there is no amount of lumbar support that can make my back not hurt with a non-padded seat. This is supposed to be the luxury brand yet the other day, I used uber and my driver was in a 2021 4runner and it was SO Comfortable! Why the hell would Toyota/Lexus make the Lexus LESS comfortable than the Toyota when it has a much bigger price tag. Lexus is going downhill.

Smart balance between comfort and performance

Coming from 2007 RX that we had for a while to 2015 RX that lasted 8 months to 2016 RX. 2016 is a huge step forward, regaining light feel of the 2nd gen, bringing back lovely engine sound and finally having great, deep and comfortable seats. It's not the car that wants to hurry up but it will hassle when pushed with crisp steering feel and much less leaning compared to both models before it. Not sure about all the negative reviews on the net, got to be the grill influence. Get beyond it and it grows on you quickly with smart balance between comfort and performance.

My wife has red and I have beige. Love them both. These are our fourth and fifth Lexus we have owned. We tend to keep our cars a long time. These are probably the best cars we have owned. We have had them 34 months as of mid-February, 2019. This is in spite of the weird grill, which is an obstacle to overcome. At least the 350 is not as bad as the F Sport, with the really hideous grill. Looks like a monster going down the road with its mouth open and teeth missing. Biggest complaint is bad gas mileage. Typically 15-16.

This car is not as Refined as the past RX SUV. The Shifting is rough and the 8 speed Tranny is very Rough ,it seems like it is not sure sometime between 7 and 8. I think they should remap the Trans. I finally just use manual and use #7 and that stops all the up and back shifting for now. The engine is Very Loud and I hate that.I I really think Lexus should give is some help with these things. My Truck rides 100% better and quit too.

No longer trust Lexus

I bought RX350 2016 on Nov 2015, which is the first batch of that model onboard the US. I finally give this review because I cannot tolerate the car any longer due to the low quality. I purchased Lexus because I trust the most reliable vehicle brand, but the car I purchased makes me feel disappointed. I cannot imagine such a luxury expensive car has problems that should not deliver to market. Following points are the issues that annoy me a lot. 1. The floor of driver and passenger seats are not flat. The inner side of the floor is higher than the outer side. I never see the similar design on other cars. We feel very uncomfortable every time when I or the passenger put feet on the floor. Imagine you sit in a luxury car but one leg high one leg low. I reported this issue to the dealer. They said this is not a problem. All other RX350 2016 are same. I don’t agree with them. Even all cars of this model are same, it just indicates that the problem happens on all this model. There is no excuse for such bad experience on such level of the car. 2. The air conditioning system is noisy. The air conditioning system has obvious noise when it runs after 5 – 10 minutes. The noise sounds like somewhere of the car is leaking fluid. I reported this issue to the dealer. They acknowledged this problem and tried to fix it. They replaced the refrigerating fluid but the issue is still there. Finally, they said all other same model has this issue. It’s not my car’s problem. It’s the problem of the air conditioner, and the air conditioner is provided by a vendor of Lexus. 3. The MPG never reach the designed value. The car specification says the MPG of this car is “City 19/Hwy 26/Comb 22”. I drive the car 80% on highway. My highest MPG is 19.1. Is this a kind of false propaganda? Give a number that cannot be reached by customers. I think this is same to the fake emissions incident happened on Volkswagen. 4. The passenger door needs heavier force to close. The passenger has to use heavier force to close the passenger door. The same force can close other doors but cannot close passenger door. I reported this issue to the dealer twice. The first time they acknowledged the issue, but engineer says they cannot fix it. The second time they just said cannot repro this issue. But 80% of the time my wife need to close the door twice, failed one time and use heavier force to close it again. 5. The car does not support Unicode characters. I am not a native English speaker, I often listen to songs with other languages like Chinese, Japanese and Korean. I also have a lot of contacts that stored with Chinese names. The car shows all non-English characters as empty. It’s 2016, and it’s Lexus. I told this to a lot of people, they all cannot believe Lexus does not support a function that most other lower brand cars supported. Above problems annoy me every day every second when I use it. I trust Lexus so I decided to purchase it before I see the real car. Until now I still cannot believe this car is produced by Lexus. I also tried several months after I found these defects, I hope I can tolerate these issues after I used to them. Finally, I failed. I feel very unhappy with this car. It brings me a lot of pressure. Every day when I step on the slanted floor, when I hear the noise, when I ask my wife to close the door heavier, when I listen to songs, when I drive it, I feel frustrated and worriment. I think I cannot keep in this status any longer. It is very dangerous to drive with it. My wife also feel very scared when she hears the leaking voice. She feels the car will explode sooner or later. So, be careful when you are considering this car, even considering Lexus. They are not as reliable as they said.
