When I test drove the car it was great, loved it! Now I’m 2 months in and have realized it has some shortcomings. The suspension is firm which is nice for handling but a little harsh on speedbumps and potholes. I’d say cabin noise is average, I’m not really blown away, and there’s a little rattle somewhere that really surprised me considering it’s a Lexus! I will say that I’ve been averaging 35mpg (city driver here) which I’m thrilled with, and on regular gas! The cargo area looks decently sized but as the reviews mention the roof slope really does cut in to usability. My biggest complaint is the drivers seat. I’m an average sized guy, and I feel oddly cramped in this car. The console cuts far into the drivers legroom and my knee rests on it in a practically upright position. The seat is pretty heavily bolstered on the hips too, so the whole experience is just that of being kinda cramped. I’m not sure why I didn’t catch it on the test drive! But I got a killer deal on it so for the price I paid, it’s livable and or lease swappable.

No power and extremely noisy!

We purchased the 2021 NX Hybrid with the expectation it would live up to the quality of our other six Lexus purchases. Two of the six were hybrids. The lack of power has been extremely frustrating. However, the noise level in the cabin is nothing short of disappointing. In addition, Lexus has created the new hybrid system which makes excessive noise when the car is driven at low speeds. We were told that the new system was created to let pedestrians know a car is in their vicinity. The outcome is very distracting and downright moronic. To date, Lexus has failed to even acknowledge the concerns. I am afraid this will be our last Lexus purchase.

Updated Review For The Lexus NX300h Premium

This is a changed review because the NX 300h is growing on me!! The look (inside and out) is sporty (best quality) The horsepower and torque of the NX300h is less than the Toyota Venza/Rav 4, so they say. However, it has speed and pickup when you need it (whether in eco/normal/sport modes). It’s just not super quick on initial pedal to the floor. I expect a smooth soft ride in the city and on the highway. I did notice more smoothness on the highway. For city I noticed it was a bit noisier and you feel the bumps a wee bit more. I also hear a rattle every now and then in the rear somewhere (could be road debris). My gas mileage has been 31.5 mostly city and that's in ECO & Normal mode. Update. . . I just made it to 33 mpg at 2000 miles on normal mode. I do like the safety features, the headlight lighting/adaptive mode. The normal 8 speaker system is sweeet!! remember, keep it in surround sound., car play, manual track system for the infotainment (blah), steering feels like a new 2016 Mazda CX5 (sporty & firm handling). What's with this silly mirror on the arm console? Could of made that the wireless charging area or pullout change gizmo or a cell phone holder. The biggest gripe for me is there's nowhere to put your phone! Somehow this vehicle is growing on me probably, because its my first Luxury vehicle. I like Luxury/techie stuff/initial fast-ness!! "Are you listening LEXUS? Good warranty on the car and better warranty on the hybrid batteries. Here's an idea . . . Lets have the batteries kick in for the initial punch of the gas so we can get some nice torque and fastness when we need it! I noticed when you have the lane assist on with the radar cruise set on a certain speed it feels like the car wants to take control of the steering. It feels firm and pulls as the car needs to, so turn off lane assist while the radar cruise is on (unless I'm doing something) and set it then it doesn’t have the feel of taking over the wheel! I wish Lexus would have a descriptive-video on each button/tech item because learning it from the manual is tedious. Maybe even a free tech course on everything after 2 months of owning.

I owned this for about 1 year, I got rid of it. The car is just not up to Lexus standards, the loud sequel when in reverse scares the hell out of people. At low speed in forward gear the sequel is less but really annoying to the driver. If you are expecting this car to be a quick off the start as most Hybrid you should look elsewhere. This car is a dog. Previous to this I had a regular NX with the turbo engine, that car was great. BTW, I only got about 24mpg in town with this car. Lexus told me I did not drive it enough to get better. I don't understand that comment at all.

Gas Mileage Disappointment

This is my first hybrid and I have been very disappointed with the gas mileage of my Lexus NX300H. I am only getting 25 to 28 mpg. I have tried everything, eco, normal and finally sport mode, which is giving me the 28 mpg. So no where close to the 31/33 that was on the vehicle sticker. I have called Lexus customer service but have not heard back about this issue.

The 2021 is an older design which was updated this year. Yes, many of the criticisms are true about power and storage. There is one thing people are missing; it the last NX300 built in Japan where fit and finish are impeccable. People should be lined up to buy this model because they start coming out of North American plants.
