Go for Kia
I’ve had my 2016 Kia Optima LX for almost 2 years now and I absolutely love it! Only thing I’ve had to do is change the tires on it. No engine/mechanical problems whatsoever!

Smooth Ride
Love the Optima it’s a spacious car plenty of legroom front and back. Drives fast and smooth. You can’t beat the warranty on the Kia.

Almost perfect
My 2016 LX+ in four years gave me only one lost day on a ECU recall. So it would only say the things that I do not like about this car: 1. The noice from the road is very loud. 2. The 2.4l engine is not the fastest in it's class even tho, it "drinks" gas as one.. 3. Suspensin is more on the sport side. Everything else: the design, material quality, features, it is almost perfect.

Eesh
Now, everyone has their bad apple but researching my issues showed plenty to go around. Just traded it in for a Subaru after finally paying it off. Was stalling at red lights here and there, burning oil too fast, uncomfortable (I’m 6’ 200lb), too wide on outside compared to room inside, driver seat upholstery by console came un-clipped from seat, and their lengthy process for warranty on the burning oil was stretching it out to where it would have been past the warranty. This was 70k miles and I am OCD on my vehicles. Looking at Kia’s good reviews overall is baffling compared to research on the recalls and issues for certain models over and over but I did realize a lot of the reviews for vehicles are based on looks, acceleration, and technology which has nothing to do with longevity. Happy I finally drove further to get a Subaru, all my family up in MN has driven for 300+k miles. Their reviews can be even lower than Kia on certain models but yet consumer reports show Subaru owners hold on to theirs far longer than most brands. Something to think on when taking reviews into count.

Would buy it again!
Just turned 63500,car is quiet as ever, handles as well with as comfortable a ride as it ever did.Just change the oil and a couple sets of tires that's the only money I be to put into it since I've owned it. Great car! I'd buy it again!
You truly hate someone? Tell them to buy this car.
Bought a 2016 Kia Optima in 2017 with 22,000 miles. It was burning oil right from the start, before my very first oil change. Asked Kia service department to check for leaks and they said there were no leaks. I could not figure out why I had to replace oil between oil changes when there was no oil leaking on the ground. The engine eventually crashed, but Kia said it wouldn’t replace it because the engine seals were leaking oil and that was not a covered repair. That cost me $1,300. A few thousand miles later and the engine was finally done for good, unrepairable this time, at 104,000 miles, and again Kia would not replace it. This time under the 150,000-mile extended warranty (due to the class action settlement) they basically said, “Sure it’s a trashy engine, but it didn’t break in the way the warranty demands, so, too bad. Wouldn’t want to be you!” #*%@^ jokers (edited for family audiences). Absolutely no car having the proper recommended maintenance, as mine did, should be headed to the junk yard at 104,000 miles! At that point, every other “normal” car I’ve owned (I’ve had 11 with all reaching at least 200,000 miles except for ones totaled or stolen) still had decent resale value. The 2016 Kia Optima is the absolute worst! If you truly hate someone, recommend that they buy this car.

Bad engine
While driving on 89A (twisting mountain road) the car just stops. Cannot restart it and does not appear to be the battery or alternator. Had to be towed to nearest KIA dealership and having to have the engine replaced under warranty. KIA is picking up the towing bill and rental car expense while car is in the shop. Only 37,000 miles and all service records are up to date. Very disappointed as it is a great little car with the turbo.

if only....
I took this car for an extended [4 hour] test drive. Disclosure: my wife and I are classical musicians. I was very disappointed not to be able to buy this car because of a terrible sound system. I liked the car very much. Very comfortable seat, nice ride, good looking, engine a little loud but I could deal with it, lots of very nice technology, and a heated steering wheel [which I had to have]. I was a little worried about gas mileage - the reading on the dashboard was 19 - I asked the salesman about it and was told that the mileage was just for the last little trip, not overall. Still I worried about that. The Optima SXL is a very nice car. I would have purchased it if I could put up with the terrible sound system. The sound was more than a little raspy, harsh, edgy, distorted--both voices [normal talking] and instruments. I think a lot of people wouldn't care, but it's important to me. My wife didn't like the sound either but said she could live with it. I couldn't. It didn't have to be the best - just reasonably good. Since I really wanted the car, I tried the sound system in two other Optimas - another SXL and the next lower trim level, and those cars sounded the same as the car I test drove. Nice car, bad sound system. Come on Kia, you have a nice product - it seems to me that it would be very easy to do better with the sound.

Initial review was based on poor desler performanc
The car itself has overcome alot and changed my rating towards satisfaction. Though I can't say the same for the dealership which has changed hands.

I miss my CD's
Why would the manufacturer decide not to put in CD players. We love our car which we have owned only one month, but on a recent trip through mountains both our "Sirius" and our "radio frequency" kept stopping as they could't pick up the satellite. I love our CD's with the continuous music wherever the road leads, so when I went to put in a CD and couldn't find a place for it I called the dealership and was informed they had discontinued the CD player. Now all we get is choppy music. I am very disappointed. I wish the dealer would have mentioned it, we probably would have not gotten a KIA.

Great Car But Some Issues
Overall I like and enjoy the car but do get a bit tired of the recalls. I have to take the time and gas to drive to the dealership and wait...with no compensation. The other issue really upsets me and sours me on the brand. I went from a 2013 Kia to my current 2106 model. I had purchased nice wheels with high end snow tires on them. When I got the new Kia the wheels are the same size so I assumed my snow tires would be interchangeable, which they were. The only problem is that the tire pressure sensors will not work. They want to sell me an additional set that will work with the software for $180. How ridiculous...it is a scam. To add insult to injury the dealer's response was, "That is the way Kia makes their money." I just paid $40,000 for a car and have to pay $180 for tire sensors. Very low budget and character. While I am speaking of the dealer (George Gee), they just raised their price for an oil change to $80. No more changes there.

Features removed
Compared to previous years this is a big step back for the optima! A lot of the chrome highlights are gone! The dual exhaust chrome pipes are no longer! No more fog lamps either! The dash is no longer sporty looking! Was bad enough when the v6 was removed from the ex! I have a 2015 and won't go newer!

It is just a car
Many people talk about this car just driving it for a couple weeks. No, that's not a review of nothing...to know the car at least you have to drive it at least one full year, all weathers and all roads. Mine is compare to a Hyundai Sonata, just about that.
Doesn't Hertz
We bought this car from Hertz. Always pros and cons to this type of purches. In our case, could not be happier. Good price, no pressure and easy to test drive several different cars. Usually only base models available. The 2017 Kia has most of the things we need, and the car itself has been great so far.

The Car is Ok at face value
The soft mechanics and electronics are decent in this car. Don’t expect to take this car to a mechanic besides Kia. They do not last. My car is less than five years and a 100k miles and I’ve spent $2,000 on it. The car is not worth it.
