Tall Folks Beware

I purchased the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland edition with the 5.7L Hemi. From the exterior, the vehicle is beautiful! Inside, the seats are well designed with an authentic Jeep style. The engine purrs and delivers a seemingly endless supply of power. I was very excited by the thought of having such a rugged SUV with so much power AND navigation. Now for the bad news. If you are over six feet tall, DO NOT buy this or any Jeep Grand Cherokee. With the seat all the way down on the driver's side, I can still feel my hair scraping the ceiling. Forget wearing a hat! It is impossible for me to ride as a passenger - no room. Lucky for me, my wife is a foot shorter. I now pine for the MDX!

Balanced On/Off road

This 5.7 Liter Hemi really hauls! Unfortunately, this power does come at the expense of gas, where I average 12-14 MPG in mixed driving conditions. This might be more tolerable if the gas tank was larger. The engine is quiet and provides plenty of power, the transmission is smooth, suspension is excellent, road noise is inaudible (an improvement from earlier models), and off-road capabilities are unmatched for its class. This car is the perfect balance of power, refinement, and on and off road capabilities. Dependability will be determined; this has been a sore spot for Jeep in the past. Interior materials could be improved, plastic inside the car is abundant and cheap looking.

Jeep Overland review

I traded in my 2002 Overland for the 2006 model. I have been very pleased. The performance and handling are far superior. The hemi has limitless power but sucks down the gas (10mpg in town and 17 on the highway). Off road ability is still exceptional. Rear trunk appears smaller than previous version but still works well for me. This Jeep is definitely wider that the previous version with less rocking side to side movement.

THIS is the third Jeep for me. I like it. No problems with the other two, both had the 4.7 liter V8. This one has the 5.7 liter V8. I have about 200 miles on it. I'm averaging about 14.7 miles per gallon. The ride is a lot better, the inside looks better. In all a great Jeep.

Have had the rig about a month. Traded in a Ford F150 Crew Cab which I hated from the day I drove it home. Jeep is fantastic in almost every aspect except fuel economy around town. Plenty of power and handles like a dream in the snow and ice. Great seat heaters. Great sound system. Turns on a dime. Got the inferno red which generates lots of compliments. Worth the $200 extra. Very quiet ride. Puny cargo space.
