Used 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Consumer Reviews
Excellant SUV
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. is the best SUV I have ever owned. Everything has functioned perfectly in everyway and for a V8 4X4, 21-23mpg on highway is great. Also think the ride is just about perfect, not too smooth and not too firm.
Out of warranty & out of money
This is my second Jeep and it will be my last, nothing but problems (costly repairs). Brakes, rotors, air conditioning, water pump, exhaust, throttle position sensors, coolant leaks, broken seats & terrible stability problems. The Jeep was great for the first four months or so, then it just went downhill fast, it seems to have lost its stability and handling and has required too many repairs. My first Jeep was a 1994 Cherokee Sport, which had very little problems (over 125k) and no stability issues. Maybe I just got a lemon but I won't be taking a chance and buying another one to find out.

There really is only one.
If there is a better SUV out there for the money, I'd like to hear about it. I've driven a lot of SUVs (ML, X5, Explorer, 4Runner) and none are better then the Grand Cherokee. Jeep could easily charge $10,000 more for this vehicle and it would still be worth it. I've never had any mechanical problems and I drive harder than almost anyone I know. Three years later the paint looks as good as the day I bought it. Mind you, the vehicle has never been garaged.
Best SUV out there for the price
My 2nd Jeep, 1st was regular cherokee I gave to my son. Outstanding ride, & luxury unbeleivable in a true off road vehicle. Shoped around and compaired ALL others including KIA (lowend) to Lexus (higher end) anywhere within $15k of price. Best Buy on the market. Very Impressed.
Multiple Problems - Will never buy another
What a huge let down. We have had issues with ours nonstop. The check engine light comes on indicating a problem. The dealer charges a diagnostic fee of about $95.00 to tell you why the light comes on. The first time was because the gas cap wasn't tight, the second (about 6 months later) because the gas cap had a crack. Each time at a cost of $95.00. The engine light is now on again (3 months since the last $95.00). My air conditioner won't get cold and the heat won't get hot. This began after 1.5 years. We also had to replace a fan relay at 18 months ($325.00). I was just over my 36,000 mile warranty. I spend less to maintain my 10 year old Toyota! I should have purchased from them again instead.
