Used 2018 Jeep Compass Latitude 4dr SUV 4WD (2.4L 4cyl 6M) Consumer Reviews
Want a Compass? Run away as fast as you can!!!
My 2018 Compass Latitude 4wd has spent 7 weeks in the shop for repairs, that literally don't get repaired. My heat comes on even if the A/C is on, almost everytime I start the car, and takes about 5 mins to reset itself. Have had the radio replaced, and it didn't resolve the issue, and nothing else they did resolved it either. The car makes a horrible humming noise from under the car between 30 and 45 MPH. If I press the 4wd button, the noise goes away. Dealership can't figure it out. The fancy door handles that you grab to unlock the doors both broke multiple times. They take a week to arrive each time they break. The plastic portion below the drivers seat, that houses the power seat controls, has broken off twice. The gas mileage is absolutely HORRIBLE!! A class action lawsuit should be filed against FCL. I get between 20 and 21mph combined. The front rotors had to be replaced at 15k miles, and of that, probably 12k were highway miles. RUN RUN RUN away as fast as you can!!!!

Regret ever buying this vehicle!
I bought my Jeep in March 2018 I drove the vehicle for no more than 3 days in the snow and heard a loud banging noise from underneath my car. I called the dealership right away they told me to bring it in and they would look. They told me it was just ice. I live in northern Michigan so I need my car to go above and beyond in the snow! I took it to dealership 3 more times for this same reason and they said “there is nothing wrong with the vehicle”. I bought a new car that would be better in the snow and I can’t even drive it in the winter without it sounding like someone is hitting the underneath with a sledge hammer! Now I am stuck with a Jeep that sucks year around but its at its worst in the winter. It had 20 miles on it when I first got it and it now has 5500 and I’ve had nothing but problems! When you accelerate the car practically stumbles over itself! I rarely pass someone because this vehicle has absolutely no get up and go. When you brake the car shakes and thumps. I’ve had my brand new Jeep in the shop more than my old car (2007 Sebring) and they have yet to fix anything. I will never buy another Jeep, Huge mistake on my part!

Love it
If you are looking for a nice SUV that is easy to park, gets you where you need to and has true 4x4 this is the one. I have 17,000 miles on my 2018 not one problem. Still fits my dogs. (Golden Retrievers). It looks like a mini Grand Cherokee which I love. Just a well put together Jeep.

2018 Jeep Compass Latitude 4WD
So far this Jeep has exceeded my expectations. For a 4WD vehicle, the ride, road noise level and handling are exceptionally good. We are getting a combined 29 MPG. It has the factory towing package and does a good job towing my river boat. I like the ability to configure the dash to see the information I want. The engine has plenty of power. Here are some things I would change if I could: 1) The fuel panel is on the passenger's side. I like it to be on the driver's side. 2) Autostop is mostly useless for us and I wish it would default to inactive or allow me to set it to default to inactive. There are times I activate it but having to remember to turn it off every time I get in the vehicle is annoying. 3) The automatic transmission is little different than what I am used to. It seems to resist downshifting more than what I am used to but if you push the pedal on down it will downshift. You just have to get used to it. I seems to be getting better as it is breaking in...not sure if I am breaking it in or it is breaking me in. The tranny also has interesting behavior when going downhill. This tranny actively uses the engine to help slow the vehicle when going downhill. If fact, I rarely have to use the breaks even on steep hills. 4) There is limited storage up front. I am coming from a RAM 1500 truck so I am used to have a lot of room up front so this has been a change. Overall, as I said, this vehicle has exceeded my expectations. It is fun to drive and I have had no maintenance issues so far.

Excessive oil consumption
This car is known to have excessive oil consumption. There is no warning lights that alert you the oil is low. The car will turn off and parking brake will engage in mid drive, even on the highway! Jeep will do nothing about it except suggest you get an oil change and come in every 500 miles for an oil consumption test. Do not buy!!
