Bought the Trailhawk for my wife. Prior to buying this I test drove all the models in both 4 and 6 cylinder. The 4 is a veritable dog and seriously under powered for the weight of the vehicle. The Cherokee with the 4 cylinder weighs in at just over 5200 lbs and the 6 cylinder at just over 5600 lbs. Went with the TW in 6 cylinder because of the nicer features.

Go with the V6

I bought a 2015 Trailhawk with the 3.2L V6 about 3 months ago and I love it. I was leaning towards a Charger or similar car and i drove a Jeep Cherokee Latitude and feel loved it. After doing a little research I saw that the Cherokee is a heavy vehicle and the V6 was a much better option. I ended up finding a 2015 Trailhawk model with the 3.2L V6 for a good price and I've been in love ever since. I wasn't sure about the 9 speed transmission 2015 being the first year but I must say I've had no performance issues at all. At 270+ HP it's got plenty of power and i pass people with no problem. It can be a little sluggish off the start while the 4x4 is in auto mode but not if you need a little extra boost put it in Sport Mode and your good to go. I've even taken the Trailhawk off road twice and I was blown away with the performance and ability of my new, "used" SUV. My only complaint is that I've had issues with the 8.5 inch Uconnect touch screen and have read that the issues with it are common but it's getting replaced free of charge. I've heard a ton of complaints about the limited power of the 2.4L 4cyl engine but as far as mine with the V6 so far I couldn't be happier.

I was reading the negative reviews and I completely sympathize with those that bought a lemon, however, I have to say that I couldn't be happier with my Jeep. This is the first Jeep my wife and I have owned and we absolutely love it. It's the perfect combination of utility, practicality, and outdoorsy fun for our small family and I regularly get 26 mpg on the highway. For a 4WD with skid plates that's not bad. We have luckily not been plaqued by any transmission or engine problems and have honestly nothing really negative to say about this little jeep other than the price is a bit steep in trailhawk clothes. It has had a couple of recalls and software updates but nothing that has yet rendered it to be a pain or a regret. After reading several unhappy reviews the common themes I've noticed are that the four cylinder models seem to leave more people unhappy than the the sixes and the more tech, the more trouble.

Pros: Off road capability, tow capacity, overall size. Cons: Short on cargo space, can't disable the auto engine shut off feature, U-Connect and radio software not reliable, transmission frequently clanks hard between gears.

Purchased the car in April, 2015 trading in a new Wrangler. Wife said Wrangler too big, I said lets get the Cherokee. Transmission SUCKS. It was ok for first few thousand miles but then began to hold higher gears when going downhill and then it lurches when you get back on gas. It was always searching for a better gear, now after they 'updated' and flashed the tranny, it is even worse. It will NOT downshift from 3 to 2 when between 11 and 3 mph. It will stay in 3rd., bog down and when accelerating hard enough to FORCE the downshift, it shifts hard and spins tires. It is the NEW update? Jeep can't fix thing crap. I know it's not a FCA product, it's from ZF in Germany but holy sheeps, its nearly impossible to drive smooth at slower speeds, not to mention in the rain it spins tires when forcing the 3-2 downshift Also the sunroof is the noisiest, rattling, creaking piece of garbage ever put on a vehicle, I had it in 2Xs already and now a 3rd to replace all the rubber seals-gaskets. Garbage
