We went into our purchase of a Jag F pace assuming the likely reliability issues of prior jag vehicles. None found so far and we have nearly 80k mileage. Very fun to drive, ample power, nice handling, comfortable on long drives and surprisingly decent room for luggage.

Buggy Infotainment System

The Good: Overall, I really like my F Pace. It's one of the best looking mid-size luxury, performance cross-over vehicles out there, and it accelerates and handles as well as a high performance coupe. Jag could have done a better job with the dash/console materials to give it a higher end finish appropriate to its price tag. Dealership service and support has been excellent. It's clear that they take a lot of pride in their cars and are sincere about creating an excellent customer experience. The Bad: The Infotainment System in the Jags are notoriously buggy. In fact, when talking candidly with a Jag dealer employee, she told me that Jaguar corporate had bought back a lot of cars due to issues with the system. I have owned my F-Pace for about 18 months and have had it to the dealer no less than 6-8 times for issues related to the voice command button not working or the navigation system locking up. I can't tell you how many times they've told me that the latest firmware update was designed to fix the issues, only to have them occur again while needing the functions most. I have literally almost gotten into accidents on two occasions while distracted after the Nav system locked up in an unfamiliar area while fumbling to pull my cell phone out and launch Google Maps to figure out which freeway exit to take. I have written emails to Jaguar, and ultimately even tried to invoke the Lemon Law, but the number of days out of service fell short of the law's requirements. After about 6+ firmware/software updates, the system is more stable. The voice command button fails much more infrequently now, and the Nav system also seems more stable. On the other hand, I use both less than I did originally and rely upon using Google Maps or Waze with my cell phone since I know that they will never fail. The Infotainment System functions are NOT rocket science, and it is hard to imagine that Jag is still struggling to get these right. Apple Car Play was not offered when I bought my F Pace, and it should be a standard or at least optional accessory. ---------- This is an update at approximately 20K miles. After repeated visits to the dealer to update the firmware on the infotainment system with no resolution of the issues described above, I took the car in one final time and demanded that Jaguar replace the entire head unit for the system. In fact, I told the service writer in no uncertain terms that I wouldn't accept the car back without that being done. A day later, I received a call stating that the unit was on order and should be installed the following day. Since the replacement of the complete infotainment system, it has worked as designed, without subsequent failures. With that said, the lack of Apple Car Play is clearly a design oversight given the fact that many other comparable cars of this model year and price point offered this feature as standard equipment. The car has not experienced any other significant mechanical issues and is agile and powerful to drive. I still feel that it is one of the best looking vehicles on the road. At the price point, Jaguar should improve upon the interior finish quality -- no black plastic buttons, plastic paddle shifters, etc.

I traded in my 2008 BMW X5 (owned for 8.5 years). I was very skeptical and nervous about getting into Jaguar due to brand reliability history. However, upon reading more and more about the company and after 2 test drives I realized that this is the only SUV I want! (test drove other models: BMW X3, X5, Audi Q7, Lexus RX, MB GLE). I am not a lease guy, and with 5 year warranty and scheduled maintenance this was a no brainer for me. The car is great overall. Being that it's brand new, there are some minor issues: the door speaker makes crackling/resonating sounds only when using the phone (playing radio/ipod is not affected - weird!); second issue is driver seat - recently started making clicking sound when I move around in the seat as something is loose; bluetooth connections sometimes doesn't connect your phone to the car automatically, requiring you to select it manually on the screen. So far used navigation only once and it gave me a super weird route: took me to the highway they told me to get off and used streets only to get back to the same highway one exit later! ( there was no traffic on highway, so it wasn't done to save time). I was advised from the dealer to download an app for navigation and use it while you connect your phone to car via usb. This way you can have much better navigator on the screen of your car. One more dissapointment is that there is no CD player in standard tech set, only if you chose to upgrade to Technology package for over 3K. I specifically didn't want to do that due to fear of glitches in dashboard instrument panel, which is entirely digital in the upgraded options. I also wish that the tank size was 2-3 gallons larger. Overall the car is great!

The overall feeling that i get after the purchase and the drive is very satisfactory. I only hope that this will prove to be a reliable purchase. So far this has been a gem. Mileage is OK. 20mpg combined so far for a 20min local ride and 15min highway. I was unable to locate separate controls for rear A/C and I dont think there is one. If I have not mentioned anything else means I have no problem with the rest :) . overall, feels great!!

The technology in this car is great. The app on my phone is very helpful with all the information it offers, as welll as starting my car and placing the temperature at the right comfort. It drives very smooth and quiet. I am very happy with my decision to purchase this car.
