Trooper Guy
Bought this vehicle used (4 years old) and have owned it two years. Had driven Troopers from rental car agencys and loved the way they drove, plus has barn doors in back - a feature I always liked on my 83 Chevy Suburban. Have been extremely pleased - no problems, no rattles, great sunroof, leather seats and tons of cargo room
No Poseurs allowed!
Troopers are real, honest-to-God offroad vehicles. They will go places the Explorers and Forerunners can only dream of. The price for this offroad competence is a little of the cushy, quiet ride the poseurs have, but not much. I have the basic S model w/5- spd, almost no options, and 114,000 miles. Still very tight and solid and so far 100% reliable. I find my 5- speed, base-engine Trooper to be plenty peppy both around town and on the interstate. Add room (I'm a big guy, so this is important) and cargo capacity the others can't touch and a no-nonsense style. Poseurs stay home!
Best Car We've Ever Owned!
Just reached 96,000 miles and still in great shape. Very few repairs (gaskets, starter, fuel pump) in 8 years. Enough room for family of 4 including "adult" kids and all our stuff. Always great for hauling large items. We are buying a new 2002 Trooper now. Isuzu will not make Troopers for a year or two - they're moving manufacturing from Japan. Wanted to grab this deal before they're all gone.
Mountain Driving Beast
I live at 7200 feet and am constantly climbing mountains in dirt and snow. The trooper never leaves you worried you won't make it out. I've been driving mine in the dirt and snow almost exclusively for the last two years. Everyone who rides in it is very impressed. We got three feet of snow in three days and the Trooper had no problems while larger trucks and SUVs were getting stuck. I wish I could still buy a new one because I definitely would. The 18MPG doesn't seem that bad for as heavy as the vehicle is. Obviously, I would like to get better but for the reliability it can't be beat. Every door has a problem. Two windows don't go down and a lock doesn't work but I bought it to DRIVE HARD
Neat SUV!
I have had this car for a few years and i love it.. Its fun to drive and yet to have a problem with anything!
