Keep on Truckin'
After test driving Ford Explorer LTD edition and Jeep Cherokee we went back to Isuzu to finalize our purchase in 1992 and here we are 16 yrs later and I'm still on the road. Granted my mileage is low, I park it in a garage now these last couple of years, and I religiously change the oil as well as recommended maintenance at suggested intervals. I have truly enjoyed driving this vehicle in city, from Texas to Florida and throughout Texas, and up and down South Padre Island.
Reliable, practical tank
This suv is one of the most maligned and under-rated trucks around. The thing is built like a tank, with my vehicle having over 200,000 miles on it and nary a squeak or rattle. The inside is huge and usable.Very reliable and great off road. Consumer Reports did a hatchet job on this vehicle, and destroyed resale. Others loss is your gain. Buy it!
My 1993 Trooper S
I have a manual transmission Trooper S. I own it for 16 Years already. I like its exterior and interior design. However, the enginer burns the oil, I will need to add 1 quarter of the oil every 1000 miles. I replaced the whole transmission couple years ago. It cost me $3000+. Now it works fine, but the speakers were not working for a while already. My brother suggested me to trade it in and buy a Hybrid SUV and get the $4500 rebate from the goverment.
Still a Trooper
I,bought this 93 isuzu Trooper used,it had about 400 miles on the odameter. This is by far the most reliable truck/suv I,have ever owned! The only problems encountered were with the right rear electric window and replacing the miniture lightbulbs in the switches on the dash. O2 sensor light came on at 90k O2 senser tested good reset light on the back of instrument panel.Replaced shocks with bilstein shocks. greatly improved braking. If you are looking for a used SUV the Trooper is the way to go.
