My 5th INFINITI
This is my fifth INFINITI product, I had have many of their smaller cars and suvs in the past and was very happy. I decided to get something bigger for family use to travel comfortably. The ride quality and interior are excellent, safety systems work great! Reliability keeps me coming back to the brand as all of my INFINITI products have been flawless! This is a very comfortable long distance cruiser, the rear seat entertainment is easy to use and the heated/cooled seats work quick. Leather quality is good and is resistant to discoloring (I have the wheat colored quilted leather). Overall the only knock is the technology is badly outdated but still does the basics. Gas mileage is predictable for a large naturally aspirated V8, the sound it makes is great and has strong, smooth acceleration! Overall I would buy again as this is an excellent luxury family do everything proper (truck based) suv!

Still got it
I have had the 2011 original model, and recently upgraded to 2020 facelifted model. This is not a high tech car like the audi q7, but it's spacious, comfortable and reliable and that's all I need.

QX number 2
Its is my seconf QX since the updated body. I had a 2011 QX56 (Vin 1499). In case you didn't know, The first 1500 of these had bad timing chain tensioners and oiling issues. Mine started to rattle at about 83000 miles. Infiniti was VERY good to me and offered me a nice trade as well as a very nice price to move into my 2016 QX80. There isn't much difference over the years with these. Only the seat stitching was different. Both had the Technology and Theatre packages.Don't waste your money on the Theater package. Its difficult to use and I never used the one in my 2016. The headphones are still in the original plastic wrap! Other than the bad engine in the 56, both have been mechanically flawless. Tires every 36000 ,iles, Brakes (which are VERY good BTW) at about 60000 miles. They are huge, quiet and comfortable. Plenty of room for whatever you may need to put inside. They do drink lots of fuel. Mine averaged about 9 mpg in the city but I got as much as 23 mpg on long trips. These are no sports cars. The lean in turns, are heavy and 400hp is just enough. The only thing I didn't like about them is the transmission. The shift points are just all wrong. I assume its programmed to shift where it does to save fuel, But it just feels wrong.Down shifting itself on the highway with the cruise on is crazy! 7th to 3rd going up a hill is a bit much. For the price I'd like to see them do better with the leather coloring. Mine in sand or wheat or whatever they want to call it this year, wore off of the steering wheel fairly early in its life. The gold piping on the seats also comes off pretty quickly though I will say, its not noticeable unless you really look at it and know what you are looking for. While the paint seems to look pretty good, it is fairly soft. Not as soft as Audi, but its soft. Water spots are deep and take some serious detailing to remove on the black paint. I didn't notice it as much on the dark current QX56 though. Depreciation is pretty rough on these. $90k sticker and 3.5 years later its only worth about $32k. Not great in my book. It had been updated significantly since 2016 though. I personally don't like the look of the new ones.

Faulty sensors
I’ve enjoyed my new QX80 for three years until my sensors started buzzing for no apparent reason. Although, the car is under warranty, Infiniti will not cover the cost to replace three sensors which have paint chipping from usual wear and tear from driving, thus setting off the sensor. $1500 to replace three. Doesn’t it seem that a three year old car sensors on a front bumper should be able to withstand normal abrasion from driving? I’ve never had issues with other manufacturers sensors and I’m appalled this is happening three years in.

Luxury
I feel my Infiniti QX80 is a luxury vehicle!!! I’m driving around 3 children all day in it, and I feel safe and secure. This is my second one and I only am on my second one because I traded my other one in for a newer model. I had zero problems with the other one after owning it for 3 years.

Loving the Infiniti QX80
One month into purchasing the Infiniti I have no problems other than my gas mileage. The tank seems smaller(more frequent fill ups) than my previous MB GL450. The visibility is superior and no complaints for space in the cabin. All of the controls are very user friendly and easy to navigate. I'm definitely looking forward to establishing reliability in the years to come.

Inferior quality
When starts to pullout of garage in am motor revs up before pulling out !! ! dealer says that is standard for this car !!!!!!! When turning the steering wheel either way you feel it shudder when turning!!!! Dealer says the tire tread is causing that and they don’t warranty tires !!!!!!! Car has 2200miles on it !!!!! And last the rear axle Assy. Started to howl and they say they can’t tell where the noise is coming from and won’t repair any of these issues. No wonder their sales are down 50%

Qx56 2011 built for comfort
I purchased my 2011 QX56 as a used vehicle. This was my 1st Infiniti and I generally enjoyed all it has to offer. The only problem I have with this SUV is the battery drain. If the vehicle sits for 3-4 days without a start, the battery is dead! I've taken the vehicle to the dealer in CT, but they can't find a problem. However, the owner's manual does suggest that the battery will drain if the navigation system is not turned off. ( if the suv is off, doesnt everything turn off?) The problem, there's no option to turn it completely off. You can only turn off the screen, but the system is still running. I'm interested in purchasing the QX 80, but I hope they've fixed the battery drain problem!

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BUYING ONE
Had this vehicle for about 11,000 miles, 5,200 of that was 1 road trip. Performance there is none other than a strong motor and smooth transmission. Handling it feels likes it is going to roll over just taking corners at recommended speeds because it is so top heavy (3-star rollover rating). The ride quality is very smooth until the road gets rough, and it is almost scary to drive. With hard bumps the wheels bounce so hard the wheel loses contact with the road. Makes for a very unpredictable ride especially when cornering. Interior is very nice and very comfortable, except for the HVAC control of the vehicle. You are never comfortable on auto because the fan is always blowing too hard. You are constantly messing with it to stay comfortable. The electronics is by far the worst I have ever encountered. The Apple Car Play can be hit or miss sometimes and the technology in the infotainment system is adequate at best. It is very slow on startup and sometime takes several seconds to start working. Then there are the sometimes-confusing double touch screens. Both sharing in the same control sometimes and very cumbersome to navigate thought the different options and controls. It's almost like there is too much to it. Storage is great as there is a lot, but the back of the vehicle is not flat, it is slopped towards the back of the vehicle, so on long road trips with lots of things stored everything falls back towards the hatch so evetime you stop to get something stuff falls out. Then there is the 3rd row seats. If you have a lot of extra time on your hands these seats are great. Very slow to open and close. Now there is the gas mileage. Now I know what you are saying you don't by this vehicle for the mileage but let's be somewhat realistic. Maybe 8 MPG in town and 14 on the highway. This is 2021 and there is no efficiency built into the motor. No cylinder deactivation no nothing. So, if you like a lot of power and torque and don't mind $100 every time you fill up this is a great vehicle for you. Last the 4-wheel drive. All I have to say is buy some good winter tires if you plan on driving in snowy conditions. With the factory all seasons on this vehicle it will scare you in the winter. Had a chance to drive this in several heavy snowstorms here in CO and it is not my choice for that at all. Needless today I traded this in, in less then 7 months. There is no possible way this vehicle warrants this price tag for 80 k you should be blown away, feel safe with your family in it and I was not at all with this vehicle.

Very dissatisfied with this SUV.
I purchased this SUV around Christmas of 2019 used with only 1200 miles on it. They claim the previous owner was a nurse who had to park in a parking garage every day and that is why she sold it. I now wonder if she just disliked it as much as I do. I agree with all the other reviews that the cruise control is concerning. On the slightest incline the RPMs rev and stay up until the incline has passed. This causes the car to jerk and the engine is extremely loud. The backup camera at night is horrible! I can't see anything out of of it. Of course the Infiniti shop says it's normal. The technology in this car is not user friendly. My last car was a Honda Odyssey. To me their front panel was easy to navigate and just made sense. Nothing about this Infiniti's control panel makes sense. I have had the car over a year now and still don't have it all figured out. Then there are the little things that drive me crazy daily. The front cupholders are too big. This is a huge design flaw. Any time I go to accelerate the cups fly forward. I have to hold them as I pull out into traffic. I have asked Infiniti if they sell inserts which they do not. They did say this is a common complaint. I don't understand how the 2nd row cupholders have adjustable cupholders and not the front! The 3rd row seats are on a switch. They are SO SLOW to fold down or bring up. I also don't like that they don't fold flat. Lastly, the 2nd row seats don't move. I didn't notice this when shopping for the car. I wish I would have. The 2nd row is so roomy for your passengers but if you have to put adults in the 3rd row, they have to sit with their knees sideways. To me that's another huge design flaw.
Cruise Control anomalies
We have owned this vehicle for 5 months now due to Covid only driven about 5000 miles. We have noticed that issue with the cruise control as described by others here. You'll be cruising at -say- 70 mph and the engine is just purring along at under 2000RPM. Then there is a slight incline in the road, and the gearbox kicks down two gears, the engine revs up to over 5000RPM! Only when the incline has passed will it return to normal. This is very odd and disconcerting, and the mechanic at the dealer felt the same. However, they were issued a directive by Infiniti stating : "This is normal operating characteristic of the vehicle that has been reported in multiple cases. No further diagnosis should be performed." So that's that, I guess. Otherwise it is a fine truck, if you can live with the size and fuel economy. The only other niggle I have is that the fuel gauge will indicate empty and when you fill up it takes just 20 gallons. Spec sheet says the size of the fuel tank is 26, so it signals empty with 6 gallons left in the tank.

Buy an Armada instead
This suv is very luxurious and really nice inside, but it is based on a 10 year old platform. That being said it feels somewhat cheap and not much different from a Nissan. I only had this car for a weekend as a rental, and don’t get me wrong, it’s very comfortable, but in the long run I would not love it. Even though I had the base model Luxe, I was surprised at some features it lacked. Some include air conditioned seats, heated rear seats, an entertainment system, and a pretty standard audio system. I am being a little nit picky, but a $70,000 suv should have more than it does. My 2007 Acura has better sound, and you could get air conditioned seats on a Tahoe ten years ago. Overall, I like the QX80, but there are some areas it could be improved. You may as well save $30k and get an armada instead.

Rough around the edges
We bought one of these new. Nice looking car and nice interior. Great in snow and easy to drive at high speed for the size. However, after owning the car for two years we traded it in. There are some design features in this car that make you scratch your head. Here's a list: 1. Cruise control is absolute garbage. You hit a slight incline and the thing downshifts and redlines immediately. It's a joke. 2. The seats are very slightly pitched forward and very uncomfortable after about an hour. You cannot nestle in to these seats and get comfortable. 3. Why are the third row power seats so slow to move up and down? And there is no stop point to indicate they have been reclined back to a normal sitting position. 4. There is some sort of known issue on these that prevents the battery from fully charging. So in the case of a lot of quick trips, at times the battery won't be charged enough to start the car Our brand new car left my wife stranded on several occasions. 5. The door panels are made out if very thin metal. Ding and nick very easily.
'21 Infiniti QX80 vs '21 Nissan Armada
I test drove both the 2021 QX80 Sensory AWD and the 2021 Nissan Armada Platinum AWD today. In my opinion, the QX80 outshined the new Armada hands down. I was in love with the Armada for years until the previous generation. Then I fell in love with the QX80. When Nissan refreshed the Armada, I liked it again and decided to go give it a look. I test drove it today and was impressed. I don't like the infotainment screen sticking up over the dashboard, but it is easy to see the navigation, climate controls and music functions while driving. The seats were comfortable and the interior was nice. Wasn't too impressed with the sound system. The drive was comfortable and the acceleration was very impressive. The steering was light. Up the street from the Nissan dealer was a Infiniti dealer. I decided to test drive the QX80. OMG!!! Nice all the way around. The drive to me was better than the Armada. The styling inside and out just outshined the Armada. The sound system was really nice. Big difference to me. I have to agree with the backup camera not being as good as it could be; but everything else was nice. I was in heaven. Definitely my next vehicle. Never thought I would pay $90k for a vehicle but it was between the Armada and the QX80. The QX80 spoke to my soul and it will be mine.

Too small
Not a bad vehicle if you have a family of 4. Anyone that has to sit in the back gets their knees in their face because the seats are too low and there is zero leg room. And the cargo space is literally half the size of a minivan. We have a 2018 ford focus st and the trunk is a lot bigger in that. This is anything but a "full size" suv.

Never been in a vehicle with such painful seats before, this luxury suv has hard painful seats. If comfort is a must for you while traveling don't buy this car.

noisy land yacht gas hog rental ?upgrade?
cruise control at 55 mph got 13 mpg on flat terrain. small hill climb caused abrupt lower gear with engine roaring. hard to get in and out. drove and rode like a truck. instrumentation counter intuitive in need of technology upgrade. would not want to get in this in dark rental lot and try to set the mirrors and seat again.

Not worth the money
Although the QX80 is a nice car, I am not impressed with it. After spending over $80000 on it I would think there would be more features, better ride, and would hold value a lot better. For basically the same cost you can get a Yukon Denali and Chevrolet Tahoe High Country fully loaded. These also hold their value very well.

Questionable SUV
I got this vehicle as a loaner while my Suburban is in body shop. Well, there are couple of good things about this vehicle and bunch that I wasn't too crazy about. First is when you open the door and release door handle, the door makes this hollow tin can noise like in 20K car. Then you step on the running board and it bends under your weight. I'm only 185#. I can only imagine that 300# guy will steep on it and rip it off 😒 Buttons and some controls aren't as intuitive as BMW, MB or Suburban. Driving quality is okay for the most part but if you hit a pothole, rear end will bounce and step sideways slightly. I don't think it's acceptable for a vehicle in this price range. Touch screens take 2-3 touches to activate, change channels or use climate control. My wife's previous lexus had way better touch screen. Other thing that really bugs me is the small gas tank... You will barely get over 200 miles on 3/4 of the tank with 4 people in the vehicle and nothing in tow. I know, you don't buy this rig to worry about gas mileage but come on, my previous GL had this consumption towing 6000# trailer. This thing barely gets over 13mpg on the highway keeping up with traffic. My '16 Suburban gets 19mpg on the highway all day long and I can drive for 600 miles on a tank of gas on the highway. With QX you will be stopping every 300 miles. I don't know but some people like captain seats in 2nd row. Not my thing at all, you can't fit long item because it sticks out when you fold second row. The transmission feels like CVT and its doesn't have good solid feel to it. So, in the end I'm glad I experienced this vehicle and now know that I will not consider it, ever. You will get better vehicle with GL/GLS, even Tahoe/Burban is better.

Had this as a rental for a month
I have put over 4,000 miles on this car. Nice vehicle. What stands out is the comfort, except for the climate control. I can never seem to get a constant comfortable temperature. The handling I think is superb much better than I expected. I’ve had BMWs for 20 years and F250s 4x4s for almost the same time so I know both well. handles pretty good compared to a teal truck. The handling and breaking great. A big except which was mentioned in a prior review for some reason if you hit some bumps this car is out of control. It comes back under control but you find yourself thinking is it really going to happen. Now for mileage. My F250 four-wheel-drive diesel gets about the same mileage. But it’s not that bad of a car but not for this price. The CarPlay touch and go but it’s the same way on my BMWs. That comfort is better than a BMW. Strong brakes. Just don’t hit a bump. It’s been a great rental but I would never buy one.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
My 2019 QX80 Luxe is exceedingly capable around town and particularly on the highway. Some say it is not as good overall as others in its class, but I can't imagine how anything can run better or feel more comfortable. I love the fact I'm still riding a tank-like TRUCK... in total luxury that keeps me in touch with the road below. Yes, the feel-good technology sucks. So what? The safety technology is as good as the competition. So, I’ll keep using my phone for directions. And the fact I spent several thousand less than the competition cost at the time I bought mine, still puts a smile on my face despite the so-so feel-good technology. And, when it comes to looks, none is as pretty, looks as refined, or at least to me, feels so right.

Reliable QX 80
My wife loves it. Specifically the luxury interior and excellent drive. We have kept all maintenance up with Infiniti and Nissan dealerships. We realized there were other brands out there. But we really are satisfied with our decision. We chose the CHAMPAGNE color. Beautiful! Very unique. Don’t see many of that color on the road.
