I had a 2008 Mercedes GL 550 that was unfortunately totaled because of water damage that happened to the electronics. While I miss the acceleration and cornering of the Mercedes, I love the comfort and features of the QX56. I bought mine for $26,400 with 104K on it a few years ago, and just crossed 156K yesterday. No maintenance outside of brakes and oil changes until recently...rear air suspension failed. I guess that is to be expected for a 10-year-old vehicle that is frequently overloaded with people, luggage and a Thule on the roof rack. We live in CT and drive round trip to MN twice per year very comfortably with 3 kids and 2 big dogs. The sound system, Bluetooth and adaptive cruise control are all very nice features that were ahead of their time in 2011. I can only assume the newer models are even better. We also like the 22" wheels and the heated/cooled front seats, as well as the heated captain's chairs. My only regret is not getting the split bench, as the middle console is an obstacle when I want to fully load the car with stuff instead of people. Also, split bench allows for a total of 8 passengers instead of 7. Acceleration is not phenomenal, but is adequate for such a huge SUV. Finally, the 360 view all around the vehicle is great for both safety (not running over my dogs) and parking. My only minor complaint is that the high beams are a little weak on country roads compared to the more powerful lights on our Mercedes and our prior Range Rover. It's August 2022 and my QX is still going strong. A minor surface rust spot has emerged on the back door, and the starter went out at 161,000. I plan on driving this vehicle until it hits 200K at least. Maybe longer, as we have a G37x Sport sedan with 293K miles and it still drives fine.

Bought this two years ago from first owner. All recalls, routine servicing & timing belt changed by Motorwerks of Barrington. Tip-top condition. Extremely comfortable. Recently new Pirelli Scorpion tires.
