Cheap to acquire - but expensive to maintain
It was my first car back in 2002 when my parents bought it for $4000 on the side of the road. But I'm pretty sure we got a lemon/salvage because the car started to break down not even one month after purchase. The AC is the first thing to go out, it would sometimes blow cold air and sometimes not, and because it has electronic controls instead of a mechanical linkage. The problem is almost un-fixable given the age of the car. It is also a gas guzzler, and the acceleration is only ok. The worst of all problem is that the car sometimes would lose power and just stall in middle of the road. There is no way to bring the car back, even after changing the alternator. The mechanic said there is probably electric wiring problem but it was never found. The car lasted a few more years sitting in my parents garage after I went to college, and one day after oil change the mechanic had somehow bend the front hood and it just popped up in middle of the road when I was driving, and that was the end of the story for that car. My parents traded it in for couple hundred bucks and got a new car instead... Regardless it was still a interesting piece of memory as being my first car.
