pleasant surprised
I was pleasantly surprised first by the dealership experience, and then the performance of the car. This is the first higher end car I have ever owned, and the mix of luxury, and performance is just right for me. There are so many features that are very well thought out on this car. I think one of the nicest is the intelligent key. It is so great not to have to fumble for the key to get into and to start the car. Performance and handling are way better than I am used to as well.
Stop looking and buy this car!
I looked at a BMW 3 series, a Lexus GS300 and this car. As soon as I drove it I fell in love! It is unbelievably powerful. It made the Beamer feel like a toy car, and of course the Lexus doesn't even compare. And yet, it is the ultimate LUXURY car! I feel like I'm driving a Cadillac. Every imaginable comfort and gadget comes standard! And the price... OH THE PRICE! Not only the purchase price, but it's Japanese, so the cost of owning is WAY less than a BMW! The only negative is the fuel economy (around 20 miles a gallon, but it's my fault because I can't help but keep pedal to the metal.) It's a gorgeaus car and SO fun to drive. Quit looking! You NEED this car.

brilliant
car is superb. power is excellent. the biggest surprise is the handling. the car goes around corners like it is on rails. i recommend the sport tuned suspension. the 18" wheels look the business. ride is firm but not too harsh. can't see the sense in paying the extra 10 to 15 grand for comparable BMW performance.
Smokin' hot car
Ever looking for a car that you don't see at every stop light? Well that would be the G-35x! It's a looker when you do see one! I've gotten alot of comments on my new G, besides constantly reminding myself what a great purchase I made! The G is a little slighted on gas mileage, but you have a 3.5 under the hood that stands at attention waiting for you to step on the gas! Very powerful car, not real comfy inside, but appointed nicely for the driver and the locations of the controls. It's absolutely the best car I've owned! And I'm always excited to hop in and drive! Never a dull moment!
6 Month Review!
Even after 6 months, this car is still the best buy to be had in the entry level luxury segment. The build quality of the interior has weakened within the past 6 months and there are noticable squeaks and rattles in various spots. Also, the speakers vibrate a lot despite not playing loud music. The interior is very comfortable and luxurious but I am disappointed by the power seat controls on the inner seat because you lose things between the seat and console with no hope of rescue. Still very comfortable on long drives with a relatively smooth, sporty ride. The styling still turns heads when you drive it. Lots of compliments on the car. Fuel economy is consistent at 19 mpg but it is AWD.
Tiger under the hood!
Stepping on the gas of this car is like unleashing a mad beast. You can feel it in the push you get, you can hear it when the engine growls, and you can see it as your speedometer and tachometer leap up from zero. I have the premier package, which gives me a navigation system, a Bose sound system, and power everything. This was my first grown-up car after owning compacts my whole life. I will never go back! The only drawback is in the brakes, that need to be replaced every 9,000 or so. Still, Infiniti held them under warranty for 36,000 miles, so I feel pretty good about that for the next couple of years. Buy, buy, buy!
Great Car !
I rented one to go to Las Vegas and fell in love with it. Very comfortable and a joy to drive. I came home and bought one. I have only driven Fords up until this car, I wont be going back..
Excellent drivetrain but not perfect...
I have to admit-I am a bona fide car nut and, therefore, notice a lot of things that an average person would not. With that being said - overall I definitely like the G35. It is indeed a car that is a good value but there is a lot of room for improvement. Please see my RANTS and RAVES below.
Poor reliability after two years
We have had way too many service problems with our G35 to be able to give it a positive review. It has had problems with the brakes, it had an electrical system problem, and there have been other issues which have required taking it to the dealer more often than should be the case for a two year old vehicle.
Great Car
Nothing but praise for a great car, from design to performance to pricing. I strongly recommend it for someone making their first luxury sedan purchase.
Great Performance Sedan
I autocrossed this car twice so far. The handling and acceleration are terrific for a sedan. This car is so versatile. Trunk space for long trips, quiet comfortable distance cruiser, and wolf in sheeps clothing on the street. The exhaust growl when accelerating hard is just right.
g35 best buy
got my g35 in july love the way it handles.I get in it and i find myself just going extra places, just to get more driving time in it.Great power all around fun to drive
Love My Car
I went from a Sport Utility to my G35 Sedan. I absolutley love it. The quality is wonderful. I have no complaints. If it matters to you gas mileage is poor. My first week driving it I got 13 miles to the gallon. I have since learned to keep my foot from zooming everywhere I go. If you are looking for quality and a nice ride this car is for you.
Killer deal
It accelerates like the space shuttle, corners like a Lamborghini and cradles one in comfort like an old recliner.
The G35 Is Infiniti-ly Magnificent! ;)
This car is simply amazing!! We test drove everything in this class to be sure the G35 was "the one." Absolutely NOTHING compared, in look, feel or drive. The G35 sedan is drop-dead gorgeous outside. The inside is even nicer. The seats feel like I'm driving from my couch! No more fights for the center armrest. ;) The instrument panels are cleanly arranged, giving the "featurey" feel we adore, without being fussy or complicated. At the same time the car exudes luxury, it drives like a race car! The sounds it makes are intoxicating. So is the speed! Left plenty a bigger engine in the dust, smoothly purring on past. Fast, smooth, and sleek, the G35 is definitely the best of both worlds!
2005 infiniti g35 6mt
my driving and ownership experience with my 2005 infiniti g35 6mt is always a pleasure and fun. i love the car and every aspect about it. the only thing that can be improved is the fuel economy, besides that i have no bad comments about the car.
Awesome to drive but poor quality
The G35X is THE most fun car to drive that I've ever owned in 30 years of driving. Outstanding performance, agile, smooth. Only two small issues with the car, that would have made the car "perfect". First -- interior quality. There is a squeak in the drivers door, that the dealer cannot find or fix. Back 3 times, still no fix. Very frustrating. Second is the very touchy brakes. Extremely sensitive, and also wear quickly. Dealer replaced them free of charge after less than 20k miles after reported a brake squeal. So -- GREAT to drive, but 2 annoying issues.
nice car
Having driven this in all kinds of weather i find it gives a very safe feel in all aspects except for the fuel mileage which is not what you are led to believe at time of purchase
Fast, agile, heavy, rickety
I've had the car for about 1 year+ and my impression is mixed at best. Coming from a BMW 328i, I was lured by the lower price and 298 HP in the 6MT. The power is excellent, and really there. The ride is a bit firm, but the handling is not up to BMW par. Car feels much less confident than the 3 series. Also lots of rattles in the interior point to a less than careful build. Where I normally got 22-23 MPG in my 5 speed BMW, I get 19-20 MPG in the 6 speed Infiniti.
Fun car
Great car for the money!!! 280Hp navigation w/brid view and smart key a lot of bang for under 40k!! This is my 3rd infiniti i35, fx35 great cars!!
My love affair is over
I love my car. But I won't be buying another one. I had to have my front brakes replaced at 12,000 miles. It was only around town driving and I do not use both feet to drive. Everyone (in the car business) that I talked to said it was crazy that the brakes went so quickly. Infiniti explained that they are softer than other brakes. And, oh well. My dealership couldn't do anything for me and I got the big brush-off from Consumer Relations East from parent Nissan. "They would put a note in my file that I wasn't pleased with my brake situation". As far as I'm concerned Infiniti just lost a customer. I'll be looking elsewhere when I buy my next car.
G35 @ 40,000
Purchased a '05 4dr with premium & sport package in feb of '05. Put over 40k on the odometer in less than 2 years. The car has met most of my expectations, but has fallen short on a couple of things: Good - engine performance, handling, acceleration, sport shift, reliability. Not so good - Fit and finish of the interior is not up to par with Acura/Lexus/BMW competition. Example - rear windows squeak and creak with any acceleration or slight bump in the road.
Infiniti G35X
Overall a great value, I was comparing this car to my other option purchase vehicles: BMW 5 series,Cadillac CTX, Mercedes E-class, Audi A6. The number of standard features including, horsepower, trunk space and the options: AWD, sunroof, GPS,leather, after crunching the numbers and a test drive it was not much of a contest
Great Car
Wonderful vehicle to drive, great performance and amazing power above 2500 rpm. This car does, however, need good rubber and have found the factory tires totally inadequate, especially on wet surfaces. Have also found the car a tad light in the rear when cornering, which could again be a result of the tires. Would not hesitate to buy another Infiniti.
Eh - Not So Much
This car should not be compared in the same class as a BMW 3-Series, Acura TL, Audi A4. as it is often grouped with. To me , the car sits a lot higher and does not turn or corner as well as these vehicles. City Driving is brutal on MPG...Im afraid to even measure. I own a 6MT Sedan, you have to really put the pedal down if you want to see any performance, otherwise it drives like any regular sedan.
Very Poor Brake Quality
I have owned a 2005 G35X for only 21 months and it has cost me over $2,300 (no tires yet!) in maintenance expenses. Front brakes have been completely replaced and rear pads and rotors need replacing very soon. This is a very nice car to drive, but be prepared to spend big bucks in maintenance if you lease!
sweet v6
This is a very well built piece of machinery. The tires that came with the vehicle were terrible but other than that I give it an A+
2005 Infinity G35 Sedan
The G35 has great styling, excellent build quality and stunning performance. I am very pleased to have purchased this vehicle nearly two years after the fact. Compared to the equivalent cars made by Lexus and Acura it remains a real bargain. The only temptation to trade my 2005 G35 would be to buy the 2007 G35 Sedan.
Regret 0% of my buy
Oh my gosh, is this an awesome vehicle or what. I bought it today, and have been looking at Lexus IS350, and ACURA TL. Hands Down, this vehicle performs better than both on it's worse day. The staff at Infiniti of Austin is Bar None Top Notch. I have been in the Car business for 5 years, and have never had such an amazing experience. Will def. buy a new Infiniti Next Time.
Pleasantly Surprised
After having five BMWs (3 & 5 series models) I was tired of having various problems (mostly electrical) that different dealers seemed unable or unwilling to fix. I bought the G35 because I wanted a rear wheel drive car and have been very surprised. In over 18,000 miles of driving I only had a problem with the CD player, which was replaced quickly and under warranty. The car is not quite as composed in handling as a BMW but it still does well and the engine provides a lot or performance for the money. The amount of space in the car is also great and the seats are comfortable. I am planning to buy a new model G35 for my next car.
Fun but problematic
I've had the car for about a year and a half now. It's been a lot of fun to drive, great acceleration and handling. You've heard it before, the gas mileage isn't that great. We get a lot of snow around here and the all wheel drive has been great. The problems have been in the quality of the car. 2nd day it was back in the shop for a new transmission contol valve (2 weeks). Since then I've dealt with a leaky back window and now a loose ground wire in the dash and replaced a wheel bearing. Yikes! I'm scared about what it's going to be like when the warranty runs out.
Just Poor Quality
First, I love my infiniti but not sure why given the poor quality of the build. Problem 1. Can't fill it with gas. Fuel tank issues - took about a 1/2 dozen trips to the dealer to sort it out. Problem 2. Creaking from the front end. Dealer still troubleshooting but looks like its the suspension rods. Currently 5 sets on backorder and that's just 1 dealer! Problem 3. At 25000 miles my brakes are completely shot. $1,000 repair bill for new front rotors & pads, plus remachined rears and new rear pads. That's $700 per year!!!
2005 Infiniti G35x Owner Report
Overall the G35x is fun to drive and has lots of power. The AWD really grabs the road and makes cornering a breeze. Gas mileage is poor for a six cyl. I get about 21 on the road and 19 around town. My previous vehicle (a 6 cyl Bonneville with EFI) got 23 around town and 29 on the road with only slightly less pep.
Love this car!
I LOVE my G. I have had no problems at all with this car and I'm nearing 30,000 miles. The seats are very comfy and the car is roomy enough even for my 220 lb, 6-foot-2 husband. It handles well and I drive like a demon. The gas mileage isn't great but I'll take it for the performance. I put 2 MTX 10" subwoofers in the trunk (and an 800 watt amp) a year ago with still not a vibration from anywhere. The things I would change are minor. I get many compliments on my G and would recommend to anyone - for the price I don't think you can beat it.
Strictly OK
Loved this car for the first few months, but then the noises started. Replaced all the window tracks in the doors at 19k, rattle in the A-pillar started soon after and still persists (I drive 80 miles a day, so pretty obnoxious). Brakes have squealed the entire time I've had the car, despite replacing the front and rear pads and front rotors. I also had to take electrical tape to the electronic rear view mirror to keep it from rattling. Of course, the dealer cannot diagnose any of these problems (and I would have to pay for them to do so as rattles aren't covered under warranty). Frankly I would rather have a german car with lots of mechanical problems that they can at least be diagnosed.
Great car for the money
I have been driving my recently purchased G35x for a month now. Overall great car but you get what you pay for. Lots of power and smooth ride, most of the time. Beware of the rattles and tick noises. When test driving tell the salesmen to be quiet and turn off the so-so Bose stereo. Listen to the car over bumps and drive it on the freeway if possible. Once a noisy car always a noisy car. I have had mine in the shop/dealer for about a week trying to figure out where all the rattles are coming from. They are almost gone, almost. The phantom rattle in the center of the dash is the most elusive. Have the car inspected by a third party brake guy before you buy, this will save you later.
G35 sedan
Have had this car for 18 months and still enjoy driving as much as day one. This is not a good winter car but can't beat it for summer driving.
Not Happy
Leased G35X, loved it the first 6 months. Brakes cost almost $400 to replace at less then 15000 miles. I drvie very conservatively. Noise in suspension now when I pass over driveways and when I corner. Great looking; great design details. Too bad the reliability is not up to the styling.
Outstanding Car
I sold Volvos and BMWs for a few years so I am used to cars that perform and feel safe and solid. The G35 is a fantastic combination of performance, value, fun, comfort and quality without being "in your face." For those who aren't hung up on the BMW brand name but want the same kind of vehicle, this is the one. It is admittedly a little less refined than the BMW but to me, that's part of the attraction. Like the BMWs were in the late 90s before they became too quiet and too luxurious. Will likely get a new 2009 when the lease is up. Fabulous car.
Best used car ever purchased
I purchased a used G35 sedan from a friend going through a divorce and needed to sell his car. Perfect timing for me as by far, this is the best used car I ever purchased. Fun to drive, great handling, performance and it still looks brand new.
Great luxury/sports sedan
Overall this is a very fun car to own, it has a manumatic transmission, so if you do a lot of city driving and don't want to shift gears, but if you want to drive stick on a backroad, you can do both with this car. Overall, stock, the shift speeds are decent, handles ok, and the car has a lot of power stock. The car stock has body roll when cornering hard, has a heavy steering feel, and rides smooth. If you want to have a car that handles better, you will need to reconfigure the suspension for handling rather than luxury. Cost of maintenance on this car is not bad, it takes premium gas, so be prepared to spend more on gas, the Infiniti OEM parts on this car are very expensive, so be prepared to buy junkyard parts or aftermarket parts when something goes wrong. On my car, it had 3 issues when I bought it, a P1273 code, a damaged instrument cluster, and a bad cooling fan pulley bracket. Even with those 3 issues, the car has always gotten me from point A to point B. On these cars, it's common for the fuel gauge to have issues, so before buying one, refuel the car when inspecting it too make sure it works. It can be a bad sensor or a bad instrument cluster. The instrument cluster is the hardest issues to fix because you need to send it to a speedo repair shop, and it can take a couple of days to fix, and even then they might not fix the issue if they mess up. Or you have to pay Infiniti $1.3k+ for a new cluster. But even with those issues, the car is still a great value and one of the best sedans you can get for less than $10k.

My G35X
Hello folks. Just bought my Infinity G35X from my Uncle in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. I flew there and drove it home. Very nice riding car which will be my summer car. It has 143,000km on it. My Uncle was the original owner so not worried about buying used. It was too good of a deal to pass up. Only paid $1000 for it. Has the wood grain inside so looks nice. Cant wait for summer to take it out. It’s sitting pretty in my garage until then.

Infinity G35 - Best used car I ever bought
Sadly, I have to announce the passing of my G35. It was loyal to the end with great torque, excelled handling, and looked nice and sporty. In June of this year, my son in law crashed it in San Francisco during a sudden downpour. She was totaled and sent to Automobile Valhalla for her next life.

Simply the best
The car has more than adequate power, and the handling is superb. Pick an apex, point at it, and you never have to move the sterrring wheel through the whole turn. Why did they have to ruin it? Why is there nothing like it at anywhere near the price?

Good, not great
The 2005 Infiniti G35 features the feel of a heavy car despite its smallish size, good handling, and comfortable seats that are still too small. The leather is average, the pickup is impressive, the interior is not what it should be for a luxury brand yet not bad, the stereo is nothing special, there is limited amount of space, the trunk is tiny, and the car has great traction.
