great car
I have owned mostly german made cars and after buying the G35 I do not think I will ever go back. This car provides you with the same things you would get in a Mercedes for about $20,000 less. Plus it will eat a BMW and spit it out on the road.
First Impressions of 2005 G35 AWD
A great car for the winter. I just logged 150 miles on a snowy highway trip in Upstate NY. The car handled great -- it really sticks to the road. I plan to get snow tires next season (even with the AWD, since AWD drive does nothing to help stop the car on snow and ice) but the factory supplied all seasons did well. The G35X replaced a 99 Passat GLS (V6) -- a great car until suspension problems (with an $1100 repair, recall for same) and other mechanical probles at 60K made me look for something more reliable. I purchased the 2005 G35X in February and hope to be driving it well past 60K. This car is reported to have very high reliability -- better than the Acura TL.

I LOVE this car!
When my son suggested that I look into the Infiniti G35x for an AWD car, I admit, I'd never heard of it. I was leaning toward an ES330. I am so glad that I listened to him - I adore this car! Everything about it - the engine, the styling, the color (Lakeshore Slate). I am so proud to be driving it. I didn't go for the wood interior and I'm glad, I like the brushed aluminum better. I like the size too, not too big (I traded in a 1999 Avalon) and not too small (I was test-driving a C320 4matic). I did get the satellite radio, but am considering not subscribing anymore because I don't get enough use out of it. My oil change was a snap. No problems - love this car!
Amazing Car - Terrific Price
There is really no competition for this car in its category and price range. You're basically getting a $60,000 car for half the price. Sure the interior could use a bit more "luxury" and intuitive layout-- but that's not why you buy this car. I basically just want to load the 6-CD changer, program a bunch of channels on my XM radio, quit my job, and drive around the Texas Hill Country until my money runs out...
The Best!
I test drove the BMW325 and the Audi A4 1.8 both good cars, but after driving the G35 there was no comparison. The G35 V6, 280 HP loaded with features has an unbeatable price, performance and best of all ACCELERATION, just step on that pedal and you'll understand what's under the hood. Great car to drive!
This car is "Drop Dead Gorgeous"
A beautifully designed car...a real head turner. Fun to drive. Solid build - no rattles after 5 months. Power to spare on the highway. This car goes where you point it on S curves.
Great Ride
This car will make you feel young. Great engine, and handling. Nice purr from exhaust. FUN to drive, comfortable, great sound system. Interior trim is perfect for a sports sedan. Large enough for 5 adults on short drives great for 4 adults on longer trips.
Very fun ride!!!
This vehicle replaced my 2005 Lexus IS 300. Most of my review is directly comparing the G35 to the Lexus, since it's in the same class. The G35 seems to be a class winner in my eyes. More power and interior room than the IS 300, and Audi A4, and possibly more of both than a BMW 330i. What ever trivial gripes I have about the vehicle are forgot when I get on a back road and get to play with the 6 speed manual trans. Body roll is very minimal for its size, steering is respectively quick, and the manual gear box is simple to use, and fun to really bang through the gears :). Very nice howl of the 3.5 v-6, fairly quiet inside, but still louder than most of its class competitors
Second time around even better!
This is my second G-35 and I love this car! This car is so fun to drive & I love the power it has. It allows me to accelerate quickly when I need the power to do so. It has a few added features that are 'standard' on this model vs. my 2003. I have a full sized spare this time and also heated seats. I like how the car handles and the ride seems smoother than the previous car (different sport tuned suspension?)This car is easily able to compete with the Lexus ES 300, the BMW 300s, the Lincoln ES, Audis, Volvos, Acuras, Mercedes, and others. It looks great, rides great, and the interior is very nice. Love my Bose sound system! I love this car!
Jack of all traits
The 2005 G35 sedan w/sport suspension, auto and premium package is a well balanced automobile! I presently have a 2003 BMW 530i sport, premium, w/auto. The G35 is smooth and powerful. The lines on the car are well executed! The G's performance and overall completeness are second to none within it's class and beyond! This autmobile should be considered highly!!!
Soooo much value
For those that like to drive, this sedan is almost impossible to beat. As fast & roomy as a 545i, for literally half the price. Spent the last 7 years wishing my otherwise perfect Maxima was RWD, and now I've got it! Many minor improvements in 05 made this car worth the wait. Basically a 4 door 350Z, with a better interior, to boot. Just a great combination of features to bring the true "four door sports car" back to Nissan/Infiniti
Spaceship
I was looking for an AWD care that is sporty and fun to drive and not over $40,000(purchased right after the test drive). I own the auto xG35 with the prem package. This car is by far the fastest car I have ever driven. It also handles very well. If you want a car that is good in snow, fun to drive, with lots of nice features, and faster than 99% of the cars on the road, then this is the car for you. The prem package is a must. The keyless entry & start is worth it alone. You walk up to the car (with keys in your pocket), hit a button, open the door, turn the ignition, while the seats, mirrors, and steering wheel adjusts to your settings, then put it in drive and put the hammer down.
A Very good car
Handling: Better then BMW or Subaru Ride: Better then Nissan or Mercury Looks: Better then Mercury Sable, Mercury GrandMarquis, or Volvo S80, or Mercdes Benz. Pickup: Better then Linclon Towncar v8 or Mercury GrandMarquis v8, 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. Features: The Best Cd Player: Updated bose, the best.
Another happy owner
I've had the G35x since a few weeks prior to Thanksgiving. I came from a Pontiac Trans Am, so I'm slowly moving toward more "reasonable" cars. The ride of the car is quite smooth. It is quiet when it is supposed to be and loud when I want it to be. I find the styling to be smooth and a bit understated (quite a difference from my previous car). I've had no problems at all with the car, and I hope to continue being a happy owner.
Fun, Fast Car
I love the outward appearance of this vehicle and also love the interior. This car is a blast to drive. No worrying about getting out of a tight situation with this car, acceleration is awesome and handling is swift.
Affordable price for a luxury car!
I bought the G35X (AWD)with the premium C package for $33300. The price can't be beat for the quality. Nothing about the car felt cheap. Soft leather seats and streamlined dashboard gives the interior a refine look. The 280 hp engine has a nice roar to it. It has a sporty feel and handles well on corners. You can easily cruise at 80 mph without knowing it. The dealership's internet manager told me to always shop over the internet for a car. They are allowed to give a much lower price than the showroom guys.
Best of all worlds
Overall, best buy in this class...period. Compared to Acura TL, but FWD was a turnoff. I have driven the G35X in snow, sleet, freezing rain, and dry...and nothing can stop it. The "snow" mode is priceless in itself! Improvements in the interior from 2004 are many, including better seats, nice gauge layout, and real aluminum trim. The best part is actually driving though. Acceleration is superb. Braking is strong. Handles well. AWD steering is heavy though, so it takes effort. SMARTKEY: worth the price to leave keys in pocket and go! MP3 player works great with burned CDs. Price is good considering content.
I would stay with Infiniti!
This is my first "luxury" car, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The Infiniti G35X is comfortable, handles splendidly, and has the acceleration needed to deal with everyday traffic. Of course, a weekend drive in the mountains is not much of a challenge for my G. Count me as one very satisfied Infiniti driver.
G35x Best of all worlds!!
First, I am 6'4" so I don't have the pick of all great sports cars. However, I am very comfortable in the G35x (its larger than the 325ix) -- it handles great and its incredibly fast. Living in Rockland County, NY where it snows alot, all wheel drive gives me the best of both worlds, excellent rear wheel drive handling and AWD when you need it.
Infiniti G35 - great car!
Great looking vehicle. Plenty of uumphh, got the 18" wheels for the look to be complete. Modified the interior with genuine wood kit. Wow what a difference that added value and class to interior! Love the "roar" that Infiniti has for the engine. Only 1800 miles on it and can't wait to open it up after 2500 mi or so. Infiniti did a good job with quality and craftsmanship. NIce solid "thud" when doors are closed just like German cars. BMW watch out. I am sure the later models will be even more retro to compete with BMW's new look. Happy with the G35 for less money.
great sport/lux bargain
good looks, roomy interior w/all the comfort and convenience of a luxury sedan combined w/ferocious acceleration. supple ride w/plenty of grip.
Bluetooth and Gas mileage.
Just purchased a g35x. Love the car. Car stands out from the rest of the pack. I opted for the black with graphite interior and really believe this is the best choice. Only thing I would like to see changed is better fuel economy and possibly bluetooth. Overall really enjoy the drive.
I love my G35
In the past I have purchased three and five series BMWs and have been happy with except for the constant repairs. This time I decided to get a Japanese car so I looked at the ES330, the TL and the Maxima. The first time I drove the G35 I was sold. It handles great and has lots more power than my bimmers did.
Love My Car
My G35x is a blast to drive. It handles great and is very fast. I love the rear, reclining seats for back-seat comfort. The interior is not that gaudy shiny plastic wood stuff everywhere, in fact, since the car is sporty, I opted to skip any wood interior. I find everything within reach and very accessible. I opted for the aero package. Cruising down the road at 85 is like a dream. I love this car.
Who said you can't eat the cake?
What an experience this car has been! The AWD performed flawlessly in a recent severe rain storm and the handling is leaps and bounds better than anything I have test driven. WAY better than the Acura TL although fit and finish on the TL & ES330 were better. The car is a lot of fun to drive but I've heard one creak and one rattle so far (only 800 miles in) which is cause for a little concern but I'm usually listening to music so it's no big deal. It's faster than anything else out there on the road so if you need passing power, this has it! The ride is "harsh" if you compare it to a Lexus or Acura because it's a lot sportier and faster than those cars. It's not perfect but damn close.
Parker G35X Review
We purchased our G35X in February with some snow still on the ground. This vehicle looks great and as a full time rear wheel drive and as-needed all- wheel drive it is sure footed and gives one a secure feeling driving it. With over 5,000 miles on it now, there is nothing to find fault with. We normally get around 24 MPG on trips and around 20 MPG driving around home. A great looking sedan with a sport car feel when you hit the accelerator.
My first car
Not bad for a first car. I love the way it looks and feels. For all those who complain about how its a rough ride... you need to realize that this is a sports car and its SUPPOSED to feel that way. Don't listen to what the dealer/sticker says abouth mileage. They say 19/26 but its really more like 22 mpg MAX.
G35x - Close to perfect
This car with a few tweaks could be the top sports sedan, some changes have been made in the 05 model such as interior materials. Overall great value and the best of both worlds with the AWD option that still offers excellent performance. Great car to avoid front wheel drive cars that have 250+HP and resulting torque steer.
I LOVE this car!!!
I just bought this car yesterday and I LOVE IT! I have been looking at Infiniti's for over 2 years and am glad I stayed with them. This car has power beyond dreams, comfort and style along with elegance and class. I only wish tinted windows were part of the package but I will be taking it in on Monday! I have driven a Durango for the last 6 years so the mileage isn't a huge issue and the power makes it well worth it!
A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
This 2005 G35 is absolutely beautiful and fast. I use it daily to commute and I also drive it every chance I get. I got the sport and the aero package with ivory white (ext) and wheat (int). The car is extremely classy and an ultimate threat to anything in its class. The thing I like the best is that every Tom, Dick, and Harry doesn't have this car, unlike the BMW 3 series. A woman pulled up to me in a C-Class and told me that she was on her way to Infiniti to trade it in for a G after driving behind me for about 5 miles. If you like your own identity Get A G35, you will not regret it.
A great value compared to the 3 series
The G35X is the perfect blend of luxury and performance. I had resigned myself to the 3 series until I discovered the G35. What was lacking in the BMW I found in the Infiniti. When considering price, reliability, size and style the G35X has it all over the 3 series. This car screams and is a blast to drive. I hope the AWD proves to be a worthwhile investment this winter.
Great Buy
I've driving my new Infinite for about a month now, 'm really surprized by the powerful engine, exceleration is swift like a bullet, braking is amazing. This car has great looks from inside and out. Exhaust noise is fun to listen to when excelerating. Its very tempting to drive this car really fast, feels very smooth and comfortable at high speeds, feels like 50s when driving at 80. This car has a lot of room in the second row. Bose stereo perfomrs less than expected but its OK. Had the chance to drive my G 35X in snow, 4-wheel drive system was great, no slip, no skid, very manouvreable in snow. Its thousands cheeper than BMW 3 series with much more features for much less money, great buy.
Stop looking and buy this car!
I looked at a BMW 3 series, a Lexus GS300 and this car. As soon as I drove it I fell in love! It is unbelievably powerful. It made the Beamer feel like a toy car, and of course the Lexus doesn't even compare. And yet, it is the ultimate LUXURY car! I feel like I'm driving a Cadillac. Every imaginable comfort and gadget comes standard! And the price... OH THE PRICE! Not only the purchase price, but it's Japanese, so the cost of owning is WAY less than a BMW! The only negative is the fuel economy (around 20 miles a gallon, but it's my fault because I can't help but keep pedal to the metal.) It's a gorgeaus car and SO fun to drive. Quit looking! You NEED this car.
Dad's toy
As a father to be I was looking for a car that would satisfy all of the family. The G35 6MT Sedan has exceeded all of those expectations. The fun to drive factor, safety and enough room for the baby to ride in style. The power has been fantastic in comparison to a 2003 Saab 93. 88 horses makes a world of difference and it is great be back in a rear wheel drive car again. The handling has been superior with the 18 inch wheels and the sport tuned suspension. I'm somewhat concerned considering we faced snow on October 25th. The snow tires are on the way.
G35 2005
I had the G35 2003 and the 2005 has more pickup due to the new trans. The 2003 had a delay in the acceleration. There is more room and the ride is better on the 2005.
Infiniti G35x
This is a great car that is fun to drive. Does great in the snow. Great value.
Best Small Sedan.....Period
I'm one of those customers that car dealers love - I buy way too many cars too quickly. I've had 10 cars in the past 12 years. I do Extensive research before buying a car so I get a good deal and am as pleased as possible with my purchase. But that's why I generally go back for another purchase - there's either something that could be better with my car or there's something better in a newer car. After purchasing/driving the G35, I can say this is without a doubt The Best car I've ever owned. Interior finishes truly luxury. Exterior styling is sporty, but understated. Driving experience is unmatched: Very powerful, smooth daily driver, and yet will respond to aggressive driving nicely
Highway Cruiser
We Love this Car! This is our 5th Nissan product and the Best yet. Started with a 240sx and worked up through Altima, Maxima and finally to the Infinity G35x. The move from the Maxima to the G35 was like coming into the Light. The car is tight, nimble and fast... almost too fast for my wife (but she really loves the "pickup") she just has to be somewhat carefull with the "Fast pedal" In the pasty weeks I've driven it about 1000 highway miles and love tooling up and down the Merritt Pkwy in CT going to/from Boston. The "G "holds the road and goes where and when I want it too. For me, dollar for dollar it's the Best Value out there. Even better than the Maxima- which was a great value.
Lovin' it
No complaints so far! Very fun to drive. I actually can't wait to drive to work every morning. The acceleration is acceptional and with the sport-tuned suspension in the hills, I have to remind myself that it's not a race car and to SLOW DOWN! It's been years since I've driven a sedan and I hadn't realized how good it could be.
Great choice
This car has been great to drive-plenty of zip with a great sporty sound too. The only problem was an early issue with the transmission control valve. That's been replaced and the car has been great. It gets plenty of positive comments from people who see it.
Great Car !
I rented one to go to Las Vegas and fell in love with it. Very comfortable and a joy to drive. I came home and bought one. I have only driven Fords up until this car, I wont be going back..
Great Sports sedan!
The 2005 Infinity G35x embodies what a luxury sports sedan should be--a sports car in a luxury sedan package! The 4WD handles nimbly with terrific acceleration, with the car going exactly where you want it to go. Steering and braking are sure and precise. It's a blast to drive! But the sports performance does not compromise the 4 door luxury comfort. Head and leg room are better than other cars in this class, and cargo room is much better than others. With the Premium package, the full complement of luxury features is at your finger tips, from keyless entry and starting, to heated seats, dual thermostat, to reclining rear seats. And, all this value for a price that can't be beat.
Poor reliability after two years
We have had way too many service problems with our G35 to be able to give it a positive review. It has had problems with the brakes, it had an electrical system problem, and there have been other issues which have required taking it to the dealer more often than should be the case for a two year old vehicle.
Great Car
I finally did it! I bought a 2005 G35 sedan! I am very happy with this car. Much better driver than 2006 IS, Acura TL, and more power than BMW engines. Build quality feels great and updated exterior styling for 2005 is very well done. Regret not getting the navigation, but I got a great deal on this vehicle and I love to drive it!
Can't Get This Grin Off Of My Face ...
After many years of new cars, the G35x is, without a doubt, the best most classy-fun car that I've had. IMO it beats the competition (Acura, BMW, Lexus & MB) in performance, styling and value. "Classic good looks" is how Motor Trend described it I think. I know that some have commented about the quality of the interior materials on the '03 & '04 Gs ... well not to worry. The inside of the '05 G is superb ... add to this the performance and realiability and you have a winner with a capital W.
Awesome
Interior a bit snug, little back seat room if the driver is a 6 footer... Other than that, The Ultimate BMW killer, Audi who? This car rocks.... Cheaper than the big two mentioned, faster, AWD, impressive looks, I highly recommend This car.
Sports car in a sedan body
What can you say? It's the best under $35K sport sedan on the market. Drive them all like I did and make your decision. AcuraTL, AcuraTSX, BMW 3-series, Audi A4. None of these cars offer the combination of performance, value, comfort, and handling that the G35 does. This car will beat all of the above mentioned competitors in 0-60, slalom, 60-0 braking, and the unmeasurable "fun to drive" element. I can't say enough good things about this car. I'm in medical sales and put 20-25K miles/year on my car, and this baby makes me excited to hit the road. Just a fantastic all-around performer.
**Update** one month in!
This car gets better the longer you are with it! Operating the navigation system is a snap and RWD/AWD is a blast to drive! This car hauls around turns and the engine has power to spare so you never have to floor it (unless you want to :D)! The seats are super comfortable, heated seats work very well and interior is durable. I've dropped my phone, pens and books on the center console and dash area and it still looks flawless. The ride is a lot better once you get used to it but is far from punishing. The BOSE sound system can definitely hold it's own. No regrets about picking the G35x over TL and ES330. Ultra reliable car, still no problems. Noise in last review was paper clip in cup holder!
Well-rounded German slayer
Anyone who is looking to spend between $30K-$40K for a sports sedan with all- wheel drive and has been focusing their attention on BWM, Mercedes or Audi products is doing themselves an injustice by not test driving the 2005 G35X. In the first few minutes behind the wheel, you can tell that the Infiniti engineers logged plenty of hours at the helm of those German benchmarks, and learned from what they experienced. The new G35X performs and handles like a sports car, has the look and feel of a luxury sedan, and shreds snow covered streets like a 4x4 suv. No car in its class can do so many tasks so expertly for so little sticker shock. Sorry 330xi and A4, but there is a new kid in town.
Pound for pound a great car.
I had a 1998 Maxima SE and I just traded in my 2002 Maxima SE for the 6MT G35. This truly represents what a sports sedan is all about, nothing is compromised in this car. Style, room and performance....I really thought I was not missing much from the '02 Maxima...but was I wrong. Handling is amazing and to have rwd again is bliss. Someone asked me why I just didn't get another Maxima or a Acura TL and I started to explain, then I thought if I have to explain, they will never get it.
